A slit of blue would catch the eye waddling its way to the edges of the reachable area of the contest. But it wasn't alone. Beside it a set of mushrooms bobbed back and forth. As the duo got closer the pair of wild pokémon would bunker down and try to hide but it was too late; they had been spotted. Realizing the boy and arbok were set upon them the paras ushered for karrablast to keep going. The blue bug hesitated but made to leave, hesitating once again when hearing the mushroom pokémon hiss its threats to the massively larger serpent that had come into close quarters. Paras attempted to cut off any approach to its friend, hoping at least one of them could escape the hungry grasp of all the trainers running around today. Ultimately, though, the attempts would be futile. Not because Arbok or Venom would crunch their way through, but because Karrablast came back. Paras was surprised, worried, but also comforted slightly by the other bug's presence. Karrablast couldn't very well in good conscience leave its friend to a battle it would clearly lose. Venom may only have a single gym badge, but he was no newbie trainer. He'd done his research, and he knew the exact size, shape, and colors of the Pokémon he was looking for. So when Venom spotted a flash of blue out of the corner of his eye as he ran through the tall grass, he stopped dead in his tracks, and turned to face it as quickly as it could. Arbok stopped to, and turned in the direction her trainer has turned to, only to gasp when she saw what he was now seeing. In their line of sight now was one of the two Pokémon they'd come to find, and this was one sight that brought a big smile to Venom's face, as he took a moment to catch his breath. As he did so, Venom quickly deduced that this Karrablast and Paras were friends, which did have a way of complicating things.
As he took a moment to assess the situation and try to come up with a way to proceed, he did feel bad, knowing that by capturing this Karrablast, he'd be separating these two Bug type friends. It was sad, but Venom had come too far to give up now, especially with one of the two super rare Bug type Pokémon now standing before him. The ninja took a nice, deep breath, relaxing himself, as his smile vanished, in favor of a more serious and determined facial expression. "I want you both to know that Im sorry, but this contest doesn't happen everyday, and there's still another rare Bug type Pokémon out there for me to find next time. I cant let this opportunity pass me by." Venom spoke to the two wild Bug type Pokémon, then gave Arbok her first order for this battle, hoping for just one more stroke of good luck in the obedience department. "We cant let this Karrablast escape Arbok! Lets start by dealing with that Paras! Give it your Crunch attack!" It was still crunch time, and Venom meant it quite literally in this case.

Used Headbutt! Arbok [Intimidate]: Normal ... Used Crunch! Lightning fast, the pair of small bugs were barely ready for the strike that came by way of a viper's fangs. Arbok was coiled around the mushroom pokémon and bearing down with toothpick thin teeth before it could even begin raising its defenses. Karrablast cried out and began running for Paras but the damage was done long before the blue bug could make it. It didn't stop Karrablast from getting its own attack in though.

Venom was once again a bit surprised by Arbok's level of obedience at this time, as he watched his cobra Pokémon strike a finishing blow against the wild mushroom Pokémon. He wasn't sure if it was because he was just that good of a trainer, Arbok was that loyal of a Pokémon, or both, but Venom was still very pleased with these results none the less. Both the ninja and the serpent then turned their attention towards their true target, as Arbok shrugged off the damage the blue Bug type had just dealt her. Venom once again took a moment to consider his options, knowing that Arbok's Intimidate ability had lowered Karrablast's attack power, thus buying he and Arbok some time, as its attacks didn't do nearly as much damage as they would've done otherwise. He'd been lucky so far, but after seeing Arbok's Crunch attack knock out Paras in one shot, he decided not to press his luck, as he reached into his pocket for another Sport Ball. "Alright, lets give this a try. Sport Ball, get it!" With his aim straight and true, Venom tossed his second Sport Ball of the competition as hard as he could at the wild Karrablast, hoping that it would do its job.

Its horn lit up brightly as the ball came for it, and just as it was about to hit the bug slashed at it. The device cracked and broke before it even had a chance to suck Karrablast in and in the same breath the clamping pokémon came at Arbok with another furious cut.... Or at least it appeared so on the outside. The damage was truly pitiful from Arbok's perspective. This just got Karrablast more worked up over protecting its unconscious friend. ((Just noting there's nothing special about the capturing process, the ball just critical failed and I figured this was better fluff))

The end result of his capture attempt left Venom at a loss, as he quickly realized that this wasn't going to work. True, he had plenty of Sport Balls left, but from the looks of it, this Karrablast had plenty of fight left as well. After taking a second to wipe some sweat from his forehead, Venom started to think very hard yet again, trying his best to figure a way out of this and still walk away with Karrablast inside a Sport Ball. The conclusion he arrived at was a simple one, yet still very risky given the circumstances, as his eyes made their way to Arbok once again. Taking a single deep breath, Venom decided that it was his best, or rather his only course of action at this time. "Well, this is better then doing nothing. Arbok, I have faith in you. I know you can do this. So use your Glare attack one more time!" The Poison type trainer put all of his faith in his serpentine friend, hoping that she'd obey his commands just one more time today, and that Karrablast wouldn't end up like Paras.

Couldn't Move! Arbok [Intimidate]: Normal ... Used Glare! Arbok lightly hissed in contemplation. She seemed to be considering whether this puny bug was really worth much more effort on her part. After that last attack, and how easy its friend went down, perhaps slapping the ball away was just luck. She almost didn't go through with a full glare, but the idea of disappointing her trainer when they were so close to the goal pushed her over the edge. Karrablast was already stomping its way forward when it happened. The sudden paralysis that overtook its body was too much for it to recover from and complete its own attack, so instead it took a tumble through the grass while its muscles seized.

Venom held his breath as he watched this round unfold before his eyes, then breathed a huge sigh of relief when it finally passed. This would definitely make capturing this small, but tough as nails Karrablast that much easier, and Venom smiled at his trusted and loyal friend Arbok as he thanked her for it. "Arbok, your the best. Thank you so much my friend. Ill take it from here." The ninja said with a confident grin, as Arbok glanced at him, still mildly disobedient, but still found herself blushing at his complements. "Ar. Arbok." Venom reached for another Sport Ball, knowing that Karrablast would still put up a pretty good fight, since it hadn't taken any damage and all, but he also knew that this next ball had far greater chances of capturing the wild Bug type then the last one did. "You've really held your ground Karrablast, but this is the end of the line for you. Now go Sport Ball!" With a confident grin spread across his face, and his eyes narrowed and locked on the clamping Pokémon, Venom threw his third, and hopefully his last Sport Ball of the competition with all of his strength and skill.

Used Fury Attack (Hit 5 Times)! Arbok [Intimidate]: Normal ... Threw a Sport Ball! Another sport ball went for the recovering karrablast, but this one managed to suck the wild pokemon in. But Karrablast was a fighter and Venom's words seconds before the bug was confined only made it fight that much harder. At first it seemed it would be an easy capture, as the paralysis was just relaxing, but on the second shake the determined clamping pokémon burst out with a battle cry and stubby arms held toward the sky. Eyes alight, Karrablast once again came at Arbok. So unimpressive was the last attack she didn't even try to avoid it. A mistake perhaps. Little as it was, the longer it fought on the more rage that fueled its attacks. It ran up and began an array of little attacks with its horn. Each individually was nothing, but eventually they began to build up. Once the viper realized this thing wasn't going to stop just after one, or even three, she acted; knocking the karrablast away with her long tail.

Venom grit his teeth once more, as he watched the clamping Pokémon break free from his third Sport Ball, then deal Arbok more damage. The purple haired trainer wasn't too worried at this point, as he still had plenty of ammo left to throw at the wild Bug type, and Arbok still had plenty of endurance remaining. Still, he knew that if this continued for much longer, both of those things would change, and not for the better. "Hang tough Arbok! You can take this! I know you can!" Venom shouted his words of encouragement towards his poisonous Pokémon, then grabbed yet another Sport Ball. "Your not giving up Karrablast, but neither are we!" His voice filled with spirit and determination, Venom tossed his fourth Sport Ball at the Bug type Pokémon.

Another ball was flying. Karrablast was ready to try and slap it away or at least fight it with everything it had. Just as the ball was about to smack it on its horn though the paralysis set in. Karrablast couldn't move. The sportsball sucked the wild bug in and dropped to the ground. It lay silent. No thrashing. There was barely a wobble even. The click sounded. SUCCESS!  KarrablastGender: [choose] Level: 20 OT: Venominon Ouroboros Attacks: Fury Attack, Headbutt, Endure, Fury Cutter Ability: Swarm OR Shed Skin Nature/Personality: [choose] Happiness: 0 Sewaddle was released and Karrablast will be added to Venom's PC
 Arbok gained 1000 XP and gained +1 Happiness! (+12)
