Sarara had heard around Violet about a Bug Catching Contest and with her next gym being a bug type gym she could resist. She hadn't been sure what pokemon to use for the contest and she had a long hard think about it. IN the end she went with her good old pal Flare, her one and only Starter. Flare was standing beside her at the entrance, looking round to all the grass with his signature sunglasses on. Sarara was looking around too, a little bit intimidating. "Big place isn't it?" She asked Flare who nodded.
"Very big, but there only bugs here, I can protect you from any nasty ones." Flare answered back also trying to reassure her. The comment about protection had made her smile. "Thank you, now then, lets get started shall we?" She stated as Flare nodded. With that both of them headed to the nearest grass patch and began to search. They wasn't sure what they would find, but it would be interesting. They were excited also, hoping they would do well on their first time. If not well at east they had a go. And who knew, maybe Flare evolve from this.

Sarara watched a spider thing appeared? She wasn't sure what it was. She didn't know it was it a good pokemon or not, then she remembered something. "My Pokedex!" She cried out remembering she got one to help the professor collect data on the pokemon in the region. She got it out and flipped it open, once open she moved it so it pointed at the Pokemon. She read what it said and smiled. Flare meanwhile was a little confused and tilted his head. "What? Are we gonna fight it or not?" He asked her.
"Oh sorry Flare! Of course, it's a Nincada. Let's capture it.!" She answered back making Flare a little excited. "Does that mean ember? I wanna practice that move" Flare asked bouncing in place slightly. That made Sarara giggle and shakes her head. "No silly, we lose points the more damaged they are. And we can't help them. Ember could make us lose the contest" She explained to him, causing Flare to frown.
OOC: Using Tackle.
"Oh, I see." He stated a little disappointed. "Hey cheer up! You may evolve still, and that's good, or even learn a better fire move!" She encouraged him. Flare upon thinking about it smiled. He couldn't wait to evolve and learn a new fire move. "Alright, I'll do it!" Flare cried out and Sarara cheered. "Alright, then buddy lets go with Tackle!" Flare nodded and then ran at the Nincada.

However, it was quick to retaliate, sending out a swift rake of its pointy leg across the charmander's stomach.

Sarara watched as the battled started a winced a little as Flare got hit, it seemed painful. Painful it was as the Charmander curled a little into his stomach to try and numb the pain. "Ahhh! That's it! Take this!" Flare shouted as flames started to appear in his mouth. He was about to fire, it at the bug type wanting to get it back for hurting him like that. But he paused, and the flames went away. 'Wait..what am I doing? Sarara said no ember, I don't disobey, this isn't me. A good flare listens, time to make it up to her' Flare thought to himself before deciding. "Sorry, forgot for a second, ready for orders!" He called out to Sarara making her sigh in relief and smile.
"Right, Let's try catching it! Let's hope it doesn't get away!" Sarara announced getting a Sports Ball out and ready. Flare nodded at her as thoughts reached his mind. 'So no attacks then, Okay. What can I do for her...oh! I know!' With an idea in mind, Flare started charging at the bug type. "Flare?! What are you doing?!" She shouted at him, really confused as to what was up with him right now. Flare smirked a tiny bit as he then started to turn to run around the bug to stop it running away. Sarar then realised what he was doing. "I see, thanks bud!" She called out as she brought the ball up. "Alright then! Sports Ball Go!" She shouted as she threw the ball towards the Nincada, trying to get it past Flare and hit the bug type instead.

It was looking good for a while but on the last shake Nincada broke open the ball. With an odd cricketing sound the bug type skittered toward the close Flare, as he had already ran forward and closed a lot of the distance it made for a short trip. It began striking with its front legs. Once, twice... Another looked like it may be coming but the charmander was quick to retreat.

Sarara watched as the ball wiggled, she thought she had it as she started to celebrate, "Yea- No! Damn it!" She shouted out, her fist stopping mid punch of the air. Meanwhile, poor Flare was having his patience tested. His winced as he managed to dodge the third swipe. "Are you sure I can't ember it? It slowing hurting me more here" Flare asked Sarara, still wincing from the pain. Sarara looked around a bit then, she had a gut feeling but didn't know what it was. Just that she felt it was best to let this one go.
"We will let this one go, then heal you up. Alright?" Sarara said asking for understanding of some sort. Flare nodded as he tried to brush the pain away. 'Just one more round' Flare thought to himself as he moved his claws/hands away from his stomach. "Atta boy Flare, use Ember!" Sarara called out, saying the next order. Flare didn't hesitate with that order as he got ember ready in his mouth to burn this nuisance of a spider. 'It's fire time!'

Running through the fire was risky for the bug, the pokémon coming out barely conscious, but it was still standing; if barely.

Flare was shocked that the bug managed to survive, not only that but still attacked. "How?! How is it still going?!" Flare called out, having fully expected for the bug to go down. Sarara herself was a little shocked also, she hoped Flare would faint it. It seemed things didn't like going to plan for them. But Sarara wasn't one to leave things to chance, she would keep trying and trying. Cause never giving up had always done well for her so far. "It's okay Flare, We'll get them this time, Another ember let's go!" Sarara announced trying to encourage her pokemon. Flare listened and nodded, once again getting embers ready to fire. It had to go down this time, right?

They had grossly underestimated the skittery bug up until this point. Its will for survival was strong. No fire or capture ball was going to take it easily. But, there were limits. After the next well placed pocket of fire the Nincada was forced to retreat or be left unconscious and at the mercy of the trainer.  Flare grew to LV 18 and gained +1 Happiness! (+3) He would like to learn Dragon Rage; forget an old move? WHAT'S THIS!? Flare is trying to evolve!  Allow it? |

Sarara sighed in relief when she saw the Nincada either run or faint. Flare was glad too, Sarara quickly rummaged through her bag to find a potion. That was until she saw a flash of light. "Huh?" She asked out loud as she looked up from the bag. She the light coming from where Flare was standing. "Flare?" She asked at first, waiting for a response, nothing. "Flare?!" She shouted a little more worried, she had never seen this before. She waited once more and still nothing, tears began to form, had flare got more hurt then she thought? Was he ill? Was he in trouble? She had no clue and that scared her more than anything Team Rocket could do. "Nononononoono! Flare!!" She shouted louder than before as the tears began to slowly fall. What would she tell the professor? What would she tell her parents? She didn't know if she would be allowed back to the pokecenter or not, though she doubted that. However, before she could decide a plan of action she heard a cry. "Charmeleon!" Somethign cried out as the light faded and there was a bigger fire lizard with Flare's sunglasses on. "Man, that felt weird. Has the grass got shorter?" The Pokemon questioned before they suddenly had Sarara running at them and hugging them. "Flareeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! She cried out, hugging him tight as the tears fell. "Woah woah woah, what you doing?!" He cried out himself, very confused. "It's called a hug, I thought I lost you!" She answered as Flare smiled and hugged back the best he could. Sarara then let go and wiped the remains of her tears away. "Are you okay?" She asked looking for any wounds and such. Flare stretched a little bit with his new body before answering. "Yeah, I'm fine. What happened?" Sarara decided to get her Pokedex out, maybe it would know. "Charmeleon, the Flame Pokemon and the evolved form of Charmander. Tough fights could excite this Pokémon. When excited, it may breathe out bluish-white flames." The Pokedex explained before Sarara put it away. With that information, Sarara smiled. "You evolved, congratulations!" She congratulated Flare who nodded as a thank you. "Now then, let's find another Pokemon, and win this thing!" She cried out punching the air, Flare joined in and they both kept looking once Sarara put her Bag back on. Shifting through the grass it was easy to spot a white horn bobbing back and forth. It stood out a lot and whatever it belonged to was on the lookout. After a bit of walking, Sarara spotted a horn and tilted her head a bit, "Huh?" she said out loud trying to work out what pokemon it was. It was then it started charging at Flare giving Sarara a chance to see what it was. "Flare watch out!" Sarara called out making Flare see the Weedle and get ready to attack. "What move? Tackle?!" Flare asked her, wanting to check quickly with her wishes. "Uhhhhhhh, no use ember!" Sarara ordered slightly rushing herself before Flare got hit, Flare simply nodded and got the embers ready in his mouth to shoot at this horned bug. While Flare did this Sarara scanned the bug with her Pokedex.
"Weedle, the Hairy bug Pokemon. Weedle has an extremely acute sense of smell. It is capable of distinguishing its favourite kinds of leaves from those it dislikes just by sniffing with its big red nose." The Pokedex stated making Sarara think. 'Hmmm...Weedle..I heard that they are fairly common around Hoenn, maybe they are here as well, looks like a great place for Weedles...I'm sure we can find a better one in time. I hope' Sarara thought, making her mind up.

Even though the bug had a head start, the adrenaline rushing through Flare made the surprise approach seem like it was in slow motion. A wave of ember was rushing toward weedle before it could close the remaining distance to make an attack of its own, and the fire was enough to change its mind about attacking at all. Weedle whimpered and fled, well burned up.  Flare grew to LV 20 and gained +1 Happiness! (+4) The surprise bug encounters weren't over yet though. Up above a tiny fly had been watching the display. What power! Being so small itself it almost never stood a chance against anything around here, as well, its puny state never made it a target for trainers to capture. It was tired of being beat up. With what Cutiefly had been seeing of today's special event, trainers were catching things left right and center. Maybe... just maybe, it would get lucky with this one. Then it could be trained to be strong. BCC Encounter

Sarara was little shocked when Flare took it down right away, so was Flare, he stood there confused. "Uh, did you just?...." Sarara started, still in shock. "Uhhhh, I think so yeah. Wow." Flare replied now smiling liking that fact. "Note to self, don't use ember no more" Sarara reminded to herself out loud before she spotted something white, or was it yellow in the sky. She looked up and saw the pokemon and instantly fell in love. "Awwwwww, look at it!! It's soo cute!!" Sarara exclaimed as she pointed her Pokedex at it.
"Cutiefly the Bee Fly Pokémon. Cutiefly can pick up the auras of living things. It skillfully reads those auras to predict its foes’ movements and make fools of them." The Pokedex explained as Sarara smiled beams of happiness. "Flare, get that Cutiefly! Use Tackle!" Sarara ordered as she got a Sport ball ready to throw. She had to catch it, she never saw it before and it was so cute, how could she resist? Flare meanwhile confused decided that she wanted to catch it so charged trying to tackle the thing she his trainer could throw the ball.
