As a new bug catching contest was starting up Tyler had to try his luck again hoping to encounter the one bug that had eluded him in his previous attempts. Both Flint and him had been training to maximize their chances of capturing the bug if they got lucky enough to encounter it. " Ok Flint let's get down to business, that bug won't catch itself and it is all we need to complete the most important collection." After his brief pep talk the two started to search the tall grass trying to find something worth catching.

Seeing the small bug come out of the grass Tyler did not need to think very long about what he wanted to do as a Grubbin was nt of very much use to him for the time being. " No need to waste much time with this encounter but at least you can gain some experience before we head out. Flint use Flamethrower on that Grubbin and teach it a lesson for wasting our time." Flint then took a deep breath and got ready to strike hoping the bug would not put up much of a fight.

The grubbin quickly learned that a charmeleon was not a pokemon you should test your strength against, at least not while you were just a unevolved bug yourself. It might been one of the tougher guys in the park but against Flint it stood no chance and they lift it still smoking in the grass.  Flint gains +800 exp for his win, leaving him at 1536/2611 He is already at max for happiness. (ooc: do you update the exp yourself?  ) |

As Flint dealth with the Grubbin with little issue Tyler wanted to get back on track and hopefully find the bug he was after. The battle had not taken too much time but the clock was still running against him and the last thing he wanted was to miss his chance because he took too long praising his Pokemon for such an easy job. " Good that pest is out of the way, let's get going Flint, we cannot waste too much time standing around.' He then headed towards another tall patch of grass hoping to get lucky.

Seated in the tall grass was a powerhouse of a bug trying to stay low and just bide its time till the event was over. Unfortunately for it the lush greens didn't do very well to camouflage it, so once Tyler was even just a little close it was clear what was before him. Though Tyler was only after 1 particular species of bug he was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the Pinsir. He won the contest the last time he captured a Pinsir and it would be a great consolation prize if he did not encounter the bug he wanted. " I cannot pass up the chance to catch a rare bug even if it is not the one I am after, go Sport Ball capture that Pinsir." He yelled as he tossed the ball at the bug type.

Pinsir then rushed forward and caught Flint with a bind.

Luck had not been on Tyler's side with his first attempt at capturing Pinsir but he could still get a pretty high score if he was able to capture it on his second attempt. He grabbed another Sport Ball from his bag and looked right at the determined bug before he got ready to try his luck once again. " So you got lucky that time, let's see if your luck can hold up again." He snarled before tossing the ball hoping for better luck this time.

It was unable to smack the device away this time, allowing a few good thrashes before it was free once again. It ran over to the fiery lizard and used its head pinsirs to toss Flint head over heels, continuing the tight binding it had started last turn.

Not wanting to see his Bug Catching Contest end because of greed Tyler knew he was out of options at this point. " Flint use Flamethrower and put that bug out of it's misery." He knew he was giving up on quite a haul but he was willing to risk it to give himself a chance at more encounters.

With playtime over, Flint took great pleasure in dishing out a wide stream of raging fire at the angry bug. It was a surprise for the Pinsir to say the least. It had expected the fire type to be weaker with the way Tyler hadn't attacked previously. Needless to say it found out just how terribly wrong it was. Flint made a scorched path through the grass, leaving it as something the curator wouldn't have to mow for a long time.  Flint gained 700XP! |

As Flint made short work of the Pinsir Tyler rushed to find another bug before time ran out as the last encounter ate up quite a bit of his time. " We have to move Flint, time is starting to grow short and we have not encountered many bugs yet." He then desperately searched through the tall grass hoping he would get lucky again.

Though Illumise was not the buy type he was after it would be another great opportunity to get more training in for Flint and Tyler could not pass it up. The fire type Pokemon had no intention to show it any mercy. " Flint use Flamethrower" Tyler huffed hoping for a quick battle.
