There was not a day in his life where he thought this could happen. Not when he was living in Orre. Yuki looked down at the Bulbasaur next to him, who was snuggling up to his leg and smiling at him. It was all so surreal. The softness of the grass, the cool winds, the amount of pokemon he saw running around. There were a lot more in this small town then there ever were in Pyrite Town. That place was a barren desert, with no life for wild pokemon. It was impossible to be a trainer there without having pokemon from outside the region.
Normally, he could be sitting in a dark alley and try to ignore everything happening around him. The yelling from street thugs, fighting, and police sirens that kept him from sleeping. It was much nicer here, where he had a good amount of shade to block out the sun and soft grass. There is a motel that he can sleep in. He did so the other night. However, he really liked being outside. Maybe he will stay here for a little while.

The sodden greens flush with the winter run-off and melting of late snows were certainly a site for a traveler from dry climates. But the inhabitants of the eastern edge of Johto it wasn't appreciated quite as much. Many folk passing through the town of new beginnings were eager to stay on the right side of the trodden path. Avoiding the heavy troughs laid into the routes was a task unto itself at times, particularly at key intersections. Thankfully the more tranquil parts of New Bark weren't the busiest, leaving Yuki and Oasis relatively unbothered in their path of dry land amidst the flooding plain. Soaking up the sun for the bulbous pokémon was not only relaxing but helped her grow. But there were other things that could help the latter along, and one of those things was crawling its way toward them. The wriggling red worm has figuratively knee deep in a long pool of water that had settled between two buildings. It could have gone around, or even taken the time to carefully scale the structures, but no. No it decided to go straight through what might as well be a shallow pond. The bug's nose was turned up to keep above the water as it scuttled along quietly. The smallest ripples disturbing the pool as it crossed over to the side Yuki rested on. Once it was finally across and had fully emerged it stopped to send a hard shake from head to tail, flinging droplets of water in all directions. Some of which found their way to Yuki. The light patter of water slapping synthetic material caught the wurmple's attention. It hadn't noticed the trainer before now, its vision a bit limited by not taking in water. But now it found itself staring into the eyes of an interested bulbasaur. Wurmple squeaked. A Wurmple (LV 3) sprinkled some water all over! Will Yuki battle it?Weather = Water SportShiny Check: UMQdddK81-421-42

The desert traveler was taken out of sweet bliss by the hands of a less than appreciated acquaintance. Water. How many times did it rain near Pyrite Town? His mind couldn’t find a time where it did. The climate was too dry and rain clouds never made there way to his home. The west of the desert region got all of it, where it made more greenery and a better climate. He couldn’t get the chance to visit that part of the region. The journey across the desert sands was far too dangerous for a child and costly. That money was needed for food and clothes.
It wasnt raining. He would have gone back inside if it was. Yuki sat back up and found himself meeting the gaze of a small red worm. It was a pokemon unfamiliar to him. It was a bug type, that much he was certain about. It was the name that he couldn’t find within his limited mind. ”Where did you come from?” He asked the bug, but expected no answer. How can it give him one? They can’t understand each other.
Maybe he should leave it alone. The thought crossed his mind, but another came to him. Pokemon battle each other. If he wants Bulbasaur to get strong she needs to fight. The trainer looked to his partner, who was giving the bug a look. A narrowed look. Did she want to battle it? ”Bug. I’m sorry I don’t know your name. Hope you don’t mind a fight.” Tackle!” Oasis rushed the bug.

The wurmple knew it had made a mistake as soon as it found itself face-to-face with Oasis and her trainer. Out of fear, the wurmple entirely ignored the trainer. It was scared for its life. After letting out the loud squeak, the young bug pokemon tried to go back the way it had come, but it knew it was far too slow to escape the probably much faster and much stronger bulbasaur. ”Wurmple!” it turned to face the bulbasaur once again. Doing a quick analysis, it saw that the grass/poison type was more than twice the height of it. The bulbasaur definitely had a big advantage in size/weight. It let out a little but audible gulp. The wild pokemon tried to brace itself as the bulbasaur charged towards it. It cowered down and rolled itself a little bit to make itself a smaller target, but there was no room for error in Oasis’ charge. The slam of the bulbasaur’s body into the wurmple sent it flying back a bit. The force from the hit was impressive to the bug, and oh man did that hurt! But now it had some space between itself and the bulbasaur. It had to do this next part right. The wurmple then proceeded to shoot spider-like string towards the bulbasaur out of its mouth in an attempt to slow it down, to give it a little less of an advantage in that respect. Oasis was now covered in the web-like material. Oh no. The bug wasn’t the only one who might have made a mistake. Judging from Yuki’s cringed expression, he must have felt the blow the bug took. Or he imagined it, at the very least. It must have seriously hurt for the little guy. Oasis looked back to her trainer, waiting for another order. She was confused at his hesitation. She was suppose to be fighting wild pokemon, right? This pause in momentum caused the bug’s string shot to cover her. However, it wouldn’t last. A quick tug allowed her to pull free and dash at the bug for another tackle attack.

This fight was not looking so good for the bug from the beginning, but now it looked even worse. As the bulbasaur broke free from most of the webs, the worm Pokemon looked very defeated. However, its plan had still worked. The bulbasaur appeared to be much slower now. Maybe the worm still wasn’t faster, but their speed appeared to be on a pretty even playing field now. As Oasis made another mad dash to where the bug had scooted away to, the wurmple wasn’t going to sit and defend this time. That had failed on the last hit, massively. Instead, the bug waited for the right moment to go with its plan. As soon as the bulbasaur was close in-range, the wurmple quickly let out a retaliation tackle attack onto the bulbasaur. The worm pokemon almost seemed to bounce off of Oasis. The size, weight, and power of the trainer’s Pokemon was too much for it to deal any real damage. Before it could make another attempt at an escape, Oasis tackled it. The wurmple struggled to get up from the attack. It didn’t have much energy left. One more attack like that, and it was sure it’d be a goner. But running away wasn’t going to work either. It looked at Oasis, ready to fight to the end, even if it knew hope in this battle was lost. Wild Pokemon Battle - New Bark Town Weather Status: Water Sport Wild Wurmple | Level 3 | Shield Dust Health : 31% (5/16 HP)Status : Normal Used Tackle! Yuki's Oasis | Level 5 | Overgrow Health : 90% (19/21 HP)Status : -1 Speed Used Tackle!

It was unreal how one sided this fight turned out to be. Weren’t battles suppose to be much harder? That’s what he thought, but this bug turned out to be much more of a doormat instead of a challenge. It was laughable if he found this sort of thing funny. The webbing didn’t even help their opponent gain an even playing field. It was a minor annoyance at worst. It’s tackle? So weak that Oasis didn’t even look dazed or flinched. Overall, it’s a pathetic sight. But there was soon for pity. Yuki threw a pokeball at the small bug.

If there was one positive outlining in all of this, it was that soon the stout worm wouldn't have to worry about anymore wading through flooded plains on its way across town. It took a deep breath and prepared. The young pokémon's mind a whir of decision between what it should do before succumbing to the superior strength of the grass type. Just those simple thoughts took up all of its remaining conscious brain power. By the time it had realized that it hadn't heard the trainer make a command, nor hear the muted splash of heavy feet padding through the sodden terrain, it was far too late to move out of the way. The ball hit its butt end. The two spires poking out of the wurmple's body feeling the light tap before the bug type was sucked away inside the mechanic device. It was so warm. Dry. Dark. Safe. Before the pokéball had even slapped the the wet grass it declared the capture with an affirmative chime. Its gyro sensors never activating to keep it from rolling down the little slope to touch the edge of the pool the wild pokémon had come from. VICTORY! Wurmple was caught! WurmpleName: Battus Gender: female Level: 3 OT: Yuki Hayakawa Attacks: String Shot, Tackle Ability: Shield Dust Nature/Personality: timid Yuki raced past his pokemon and after his pokeball. Having it go down hill wasn’t something he expected or planned for his first Pokémon capture. The young boy picked it up from the water and dried it with his shirt, uncaring that it’s dirty now. The ball was clipped to his belt and a sigh was released from him. This didn’t feel as good as he intended it to be. Shouldn’t getting your first pokemon be more exciting? Instead, he just felt guilt for hitting on that pokemon. It’s weird.

Yuki did not have a great deal of time if any to rest and relax after having completed his first pokemon battle as he was approached by a young boy, one clearly fixated on the fact that his own partner pokemon was special to the the point that it was one of a kind. Approaching from the path ahead was Youngster Joey, a sprightly young fellow that was not short of confidence in the slightest, "Hey you there, yeah I'm talking to you buddy, if you want to keep moving along you're going to have to get through my top percentage Rattata to do so"Joey stood in a confident stance as he released his partner in the form of a Rattata out of its pokeball. To the human eye it looked no different to any other of its species, to find out whether what the young boy was claiming was true a battle would no doubt have to ensue! Youngster Joey wants you to fight against his top percentage Rattata His Rattata [lvl 5] is itching for a fight! Weather is Clear Skies (Clear)

As a trainer it should be his duty to be friends with all of his pokemon. This is why he released his new capture from her ball and watched as she materialized in front of him. The small bug looked around for a few moments before seeing him looking right at her and backed away. Not what he wanted to see, but it was what he expected. They did just finish beating her into the ground, after all. Yuki got onto his knees and fished out a potion from his bag. It worked well to heal the small bug and get her to relax.
He wanted to be on his way until they were stopped by a trainer’s voice. The idea of declining came into his head, but this was the first trainer that asked for a battle. It would be good experience for him. He decided to have his bug pokemon fight at the start and had it use string shot as an opening move.

Joey was delighted that Yuki had accepted the battle, it would mean a chance to show off his skillful rattata and maybe even make it even stronger! And when he saw the Pokemon the trainer chose for its first combatant, it increased his confidence even more. The wurmple couldn’t have been any stronger than the ones his rattata and him had fought often on the route, he was sure of it. “Alright Rattata, let’s show some of our power!” Joey spoke to his rattata, and the rat Pokemon nodded back at him. “Be fast, just like we trained. Quick Attack on the bug!” The Rattata began his strike as soon as he heard the first syllable of the move, displaying the understanding between the Rattata and Joey they had gained from the training and practice they had spent together. With great precision and even greater speed, the rattata dealt a headbutt-like hit directly into the slithering worm Pokemon. “Yes!” Joey exclaimed. “That’s the way to do it Rattata!” The wurmple would respond to its own trainers orders, using a move not unlike it had just previously used on a new teammate. Strings shot out from the wurmple towards the rattata in an unavoidable barrage. The rattata was coated. It snarled as it tried to break free from the strings. “String shot?” Joey said. “That’s nothing Rattata! Don’t let it slow you down!” Joey gave a confident smile towards Yuki as the battle continued. New Bark Trainer Battle VS Youngster Joey Weather Status: Clear Joey's Top % Rattata | Level 5 | Guts Health : 100% (19/19)Status : -1 Speed Used Quick Attack! It seems that Yuki was in the middle of yet another mistake. One that was costing his new pokemon her health and well being. He thought she could last a few minutes, but Rattata’s attack proved otherwise as it showed off its speed and strength. The sheer display of power showed just how weak his new bug really was, who looked to be on her last leg already. So, he returned her and switched out to his Bulbasaur, who would use tackle to fight this foe.

Joey was brimming with confidence, it was basically bordering on cockiness at this stage, it seemed that all of the training that he had done with his trusted partner was paying off. Joey's Rattata had been busy shaking off the coat of string that it had gotten covered in by Battus the Wurmple that Yuki had freshly caught moments before the battle now taking place. Yuki took this window of opportunity as a chance to return Battus to rest inside her pokeball and instead send Oasis the Bulbasaur into battle. Joey's Rattata took this as an opportunity to gloat about his superiority and command over the battlefield, he did this by turning his backside towards Oasis as he wagged his tail back and forth to which Joey let out a triumphant chuckle at the sight, “Would you look at that Rattata, we scared the little bug off into hiding!”Upon arriving into the battle, Yuki had commanded Oasis to use her tackle attack. While Joey had been feeling high and mighty about the positive situation that he and his partner were now in, his focus on the battle still remained as he knew a move such as Quick Attack would have priority in battle over a move such as Tackle, even despite the decreased speed that Rattata had been lumped with through the string shot attack. “Alright little buddy, let's show these guys that they're just not on your level, hit that overgrown plant with your Quick Attack!”While it was clear that Rattata's speed was clearly not as delightful of a display, the small mouse pokemon's precision was still intact as he dealt a headbutt-like hit directly into the seed pokemon's body. Joey smirked at the sight, he felt firmly that he and his top percentage Rattata were firmly in control of the battle and every sign so far pointed to supporting that notion. After recovering from Rattata's Quick Attack move, Oasis launched her full-body into Rattata's as she tackled the normal type pokemon and sent him tumbling backwards towards his trainer. New Bark Trainer Battle VS Youngster Joey Weather Status: Clear Joey's Top % Rattata | Level 5 | Guts Health : 73% (14/19)Status : -1 Speed Used Tail Whip & Quick Attack! Yuki's Oasis | Level 7 | Overgrow Health : 72% (18/25 HP)Status : -1 Defence Switched into battle and used Tackle!

Yuki didn’t feel like there was a need to exchange words with Joey. His focus was solely on the battle in front of him. However, this didn’t mean that he ignored Joey either. It’s why the boy was visibly scowling at the young trainer and rat pokemon, who were openly mocking his latest catch. There was a tiny part of him that wanted nothing more than to walk over there, beat him into the dirt, and throw him into the bushes. But he didn’t. This wasn’t Orre, where gangs openly fought in the streets. He needs to learn to control himself better.
The boy took in the situation and tried to think of what to do next. Rattata has the speed advantage with quick attack and Bulbasaur only knew tackle for an attack. However, there was one another move that can be used. His starter caught on quick and fired off a leech seed at Rattata. It will sap its energy and bridge the gap in their stamina.
