”I’m just keeping my focus.” Yuki didn’t pay Silver much mind for a while and started to focus more on the battle. A hard feat considering the redhead’s terrible gloating. Silver was right about one thing, but not as he meant it. Pokemon were strong, but they can only go so far on their own. A partnership with a trainer and working together can get them so much further than one can imagine. Such heights weren’t imaginable to him right now, but it won’t be like that for long. The first step to this was defeating Silver. ”Finish it.” Yuki ordered as his Pokemon ran in for a tackle.

The fight wasn’t going the way the red-headed boy wanted. He didn’t know if it was because his fiery little Cyndaquil was just that young and inexperienced or if the weather had anything to do with this. Despite his best efforts to lower his opponent’s accuracy to that it would be easier to swipe a victory into their grubby paws, it didn’t seem to make much of a difference. With that leech seed attack, the Bulbasaur just slowly drained away every bit of their health like it was no problem at all. “Keeping your focus on losing? How’s that goin’ for ya?” He asked, then turned to his Cyndaquil. “Remember, Cyndaquil, you gotta stay focused on the prize. If we can get you leveled up high enough, you should learn a really impressive fire type move. Then grass types like this Bulbasaur will be a walk in the park, got it? Let’s use this as a learning curve and not a weakness. Do your best to dodge his attacks while his vision is clouded and aim for another powerful Tackle!” The blue echidna yipped in happy agreeance, wanting to do anything and everything to prove to its trainer that it was the strongest little buddy out there for it. It leaped after its opponent, with the Bulbasaur barreling after it. They seemed to dance together, both moving this way and that while trying to ram their body into their opponent. The Cyndaquil managed first, hitting the Bulbasaur and causing Oasis to lose her footing momentarily before she bounced back and rammed herself into the Cyndaquil, knocking it out. “Tch!” He growled, and turned away from Yuki. He recalled his Pokemon into its Pokeball and dropped some money on the ground before walking off with his hands shoved into the pockets of his pants. “You got lucky with an inexperienced Cyndaquil. That’s all. Don’t expect it to happen again.” He commented before disappearing off down the route. Yuki watched the redhead disappear down the dirt route once the battle finished. It seems that his opponent didn’t want to hear any retort judging by the fast pace. It made him scoff in his direction. All of that talk and he can’t take a loss with a little bit of grace? What a sore loser. Are there really trainers so petty and obsessed with being strong? It brought back memories of his fellow rocket members. Terrible memories.
The purple haired boy returned his starter and took a slow pace down the road. If Silver took for the next town, he’s gonna try to avoid him. Even if that meant purposely delaying his arrival. His feet stopped once he got a few steps down the road. Gears turned in his head. Something didn’t feel right. Silver had a Cyndaquil and his small stop at the lab allowed him to see three Pokémon playing. One of them being a Cyndaquil. Didn't Elm offer him one of the three since he wasn’t supposed to get any trainers that day?
Worry grew him in and he started back for New Bark’s lab.
