The route was quiet compared to the bustling city of Cherrygrove and since Finnian was still on the most used direct route between the two cities, there weren't many wild pokemon around. They knew there were risks of encountering trainers near the road and if possible many of them stayed away, so the ones which was usually spotted was the ones who was plentiful. The clouds had gathered all day and now the temperature took a sudden drop, and snow began to fall! Now it would be really difficult to find any flowers for Florus and Vera, not that there would have been many back this late time of the year but now the last one would certainly wither away. The snow fall steadily and melted quickly on the still warm ground, it made every thing wet and cold and if not dressed properly Finnian could get wet and cold. The snow continued to fall and slowly began to cover the ground and make everything white althought the layer was still very thin. Suddenly some of the white moved and revealed a mareep which had been laying down, it rose to its feet quickly and looked hopefully at Finnian as he approached. It bleated happily and trotted closer clearly happy to see him, or anyone in general. As it came closer it became clear its wool was soaked by the snow as it lay flat to its skin, and it was shivering from the cold, but it didn't look to care as it attempted to headbutt him affectionately and then hopped around him bleating. "Do you wanna play?" It bleated to Finnians present pokemon, it loved to play and it was a great way to get warm again. If Finnian knew just a bit about mareeps he would know that these pokemon were usually living in herds, so what was this one doing here all by itself? Mareep [lvl 7] is freezing in the sudden snowfall and wants to play to get warm. Shiny: ndWLL51y1-421-42

As the snow started to fall, Finnian recalled Cara and Vera to protect them from the cold. While he guessed the floral wreath of a Pokemon would have been all right exposed to the elements, as she hadn't seemed bothered by them, he wasn't willing to take the chance. The last thing he wanted was for either of them to get sick. Aislyn, Florus, and Talia still roamed next to him, and he kept his pace at a leisurely stroll so they could easily keep up and also explore at the same time.
He startled slightly when the snow drift shifted and revealed a Pokemon underneath, but immediately pressed his hands to his cheeks in an expression of adoration. "Oh my Arceus, so cuuuuuute!" he exclaimed quietly as the Mareep wandered over.
"Yeah!" Talia exclaimed, bounding forward with no concern for the fact that she had just volunteered to play with an Electric-type. Aislyn hung out slightly behind Finnian, somewhat nervous to meet strangers, and Florus remained in the middle distance between the two groups. Playing wasn't exactly his thing, and he was more curious about what the Mareep was doing out here. Finnian was as well when he got over staring adoringly at it, though that took quite a bit longer than it should have. Honestly, he was used to seeing them in flocks back home, so he wondered where its farm was and whether or not they ought to worry about getting it back there.
But... he wanted to stare at its cuteness for a little while longer, so for now he'd let them play.

As Talia eagerly agreed to the playfight, the mareep didn't wait long to get it started. It swung its head as warning and lowered it before it trotted forward on staggering legs. Talia clearly hadn't been prepared that this was the way mareeps were playing, by ramming their heads into each other. There weren't much strength behind it though although it was tough to say if it was due to it being a game, Talia being much stronger or it was because the sheep was shivering like a leaf in a storm. Its teeth had started to clatter as well, it had to be really cold and certainly hadn't been doing well on its own out here, even though it acted like it didn't care. "I ha-ha-haven't-t h-had this much fun since I le-left my herd-d-d," the mareep said through clattering teeth, and a shadow crossed its face but it pushed the sadness away fast, it needed to be happy and positive! "I'm-m g-g-going to-to be a real ma-mareep and share shocks!" It continued proudly and shook its clinging wool, which helped get rid of a bit of the moisture although it still wasn't fluffy at all and therefore couldn't keep the mareep warm. It giggled a bit sheepishly, "I fell in s-some water p-puddle b-before," it explained to its cold and wet state. Just let Finnian want to find it another solution and we'll work something out.)

((Finnian would love a Mareep 'cause it's a giant puffball XD))
Oh, so that was how they were going to do it! Talia let out a quiet oof when she got hit and then giggled, ready to retaliate in kind until she realized the other Pokemon was shivering. That didn't seem like much fun at all! "Yo, he can help you dry off and we can get you somewhere warm if you'd rather," she offered, pointing over her shoulder to Finnian, who wasn't entirely sure what she was saying but perked up anyway. Even he could tell the Mareep was soaking wet and needed some help. Sure, Talia could just battle the little sheep and he could capture it by force, but he didn't like doing that.
"Are you lost little buddy?" he asked. "We can take you home." Wherever that might be. And no, he didn't care that it might derail him from his current path, because he'd never forgive himself if he ignored someone or something in need of help. It just wasn't his way. He'd want someone to stop for him after all (not that many people would).
"Or that," Talia agreed, though she'd caught that mention of leaving the herd, not getting left behind or separated. Sounded intentional, as though this Mareep, for whatever reason, didn't have a home to go back to.

The mareep made a fun little jump on shaky legs as it waited for Talia's retaliation, it paused to look at her while its teeth clattered. "I g-get warm from p-playing!" It called back and grinned even though it was shaking, it nodded its head in a playful warning and looked expectantly at Talia to continue their playfight. She didn't.
The mareep turned to look at Finnian when he said something, but honestly it wasn't sure what he said, it was a weird sort of bleating. "Or w-what?" It asked Talia confused as it looked between her and Finnian. "He c-can't warm m-me, he has n-no wool! No shock!" It protested. The sheep's jump in its step at the initial of the battle had all disappeared, and now it looked rather crestfallen and miserable with its soaked wool and shaking body. "N-no play?" It asked sadly and then laid down right where it was, down into the snow. It sighed. "I n-never learn t-to shock, n-never getting b-back. All m-my friends c-can now, b-but n-not me, I d-don't want t-to b-be a b-baby," it whined, mostly to itself as it covered shivering in the snow.
Apparently this mareep was it last of this years youngsters to learn its electric type attack and it had left its flock to learn it, but was inexperienced about how to be on its own, and deal with a weather like this. To make things worse, the weather chose to change as the clouds darkened, the wind picked up and hail started to fall. A snowstorm was on its way!
(ooc: okay, to get the mareep your task will be to befriend it and to teach it an electric attack, aka "to shock" they learn one at level up, otherwise it will just return to its flock, hehe)
