It had been a somewhat long walk down the route for Theodore. He and his Pokemon actually hadn't come across too much on the route which came as a bit of a surprise to them - although maybe it shouldn’t have, the area seemed to be flooded. It was why Galahad happened to be inside his Pokeball and a different Pokemon had been traveling alongside Theo. A gift from his parents and somewhat of a Pokemon that gave Theo a sense of where he had come from, the dragon Pokemon seemingly floated next to Theo as they traveled.
A few times on their walk so far, Coral had taken little breaks to happily splash around in the puddles that seemed to overwhelm the paths on the route. It was definitely an adorable site, as well as the seemingly perfect weather for the Pokemon. The duo would come to a halt, however, when they began to see a countryside house in the distance, next to the path. It definitely was a nice house. A beautiful front porch, well-conditioned white paint covering the house, fancy windows, it was certainly something.
On their way past the house, however, a man would stop the trainer and his horsea. He was definitely something, dressed quite fancily in all brown and a nice hat to top it off, seemingly covering his white hair. In one of his hands was an ordinary looking Pokemon egg. He introduced himself as Mr. Pokemon. What a strange name? Someone would surely have had to put in a lot of work to earn that title.
… What? Mr. Pokemon claimed to have no clue what this egg could be! Theodore looked questionably, but listened as the man asked a favor of the young trainer. To safely bring the egg to Professor Elm to help them decide what the egg could be. Theodore couldn’t help but think it was a bit strange that Mr.Pokemon would simply hand this egg over to him with barely an idea of who he truthfully was, but there was no way Theodore was going to deny the task. Besides, now he was curious of what the pokemon was inside the egg.
“I won’t let you down!” Theodore exclaimed to the man before taking the egg and beginning the adventure backwards to New Bark Town. It was a bit out of the way, but perhaps the journey would give Theodore a chance to strengthen his Pokemon a bit more before arriving at Violet Town and challenging the gym there. He turned to his horsea, who certainly did not seem to mind the extra journey herself.
"Let's do this."

It was a peculiar man and a peculiar meeting indeed. Few would contact a complete stranger and hand them over something of theirs, especially something as a pokemon egg which was usually treasured and held in high regard. Mr. Pokemon might be hindered in doing so himself but either he was naive or perhaps desperate to make such decision. Of course there was no saying how he had gotten his hands on this egg, and it might just have been something he had stumbled upon below a tree and picked up from childish curiousity. If they thought it was merely a pidgey or a rattata they might not think it was so important what happened to it, and a trainer were going to hatch it and then store it if they didn't want to train it themselves. Mr. Pokemon was very cheerfully although he kept his voice low as he presented his request. He helpfully answered the little he could and often pointed out how important it was this egg got safely to Professor Elm, it was very important. The older man surely put all his faith in Theodore and had nothing to have it in than the young trainer's word for it, but he seemed happy to do it, yes almost relieved even. Mr. Pokemon sent Theodore off with a cheerful wave but as he walked away he was a very tense man, keeping his eyes on the road in front of him and clenching his fists. Mystery Egg was placed in Theodore's care. For some time the trek through the wet and muddy route was peaceful, it seemed like nothing out of the ordinary would happen, if you didn't count the curious start of it. Then a man stepped out from behind a tree, he was dressed in black from top to toe except for a big red R on his front. He placed himself in the young trainer's path and watched him with mocking confidence. "So you are the hero of the old weirdo, do you really think you should cross paths with Team Rocket?" He asked and rattata stepped out in the other side of Theodore to block his path that way. Now they would realize they were surrounded by lesser ponds on both sides, which of course wouldn't be any problem for Coral but Theodore might be in for a very cold swim should the try to cross. "I'll do a fair trade with you though, hand over the egg and I'll let you go unharmed," the grunt threatened and took a step forward with a out stretched hand. The Team Rocket Grunt wants the egg and sends out Rattata [lvl 6]

It was back down the routes they had just travelled down for Theo and his Pokemon, the egg held in a careful grip by Theo’s hands as they walked. What kind of dangers would they have to avoid? Hungry Pokemon looking for some fried eggs? Or would someone really try to steal an egg…? The thoughts went through the trainer’s head somewhat idly as him and Coral continued on the wet route. If it wasn’t for the wet terrain, the weather and condition along the route would’ve been perfect to Theo. However, the wet conditions made it all the more enjoyable and better for Coral, so Theodore certainly didn’t mind it a bit. If they just had gondolas to travel through the large water puddles it’d have been quite similar to a way of travel in his hometown.
A noise came from off the side of the route, from behind a tree. Coral immediately turned her view towards where the sound had come from and knew something was off. She urgently got Theodore to look over there, by bumping into him. Theodore turned to the horsea. “What is it, Coral?” Her gaze was fixated on the tree. “Horsea!” She said, with a sense of alarm. It would be too late for them to avoid whoever or whatever it was, however.
The man stepped out, clad in a black suit and a black hat to top it off, with gray gloves and gray boots. Theodore and Coral watched as the man positioned himself in front of them, with a small purple rat Pokemon along with him. Now, Theodore could clearly see the logo embedded in the front of the man’s attire - a big R. It’d be surprising if anyone in Johto wasn’t able to put the red logo and the name “Team Rocket” together in the heads, with the notorious reputation and history of the gang. Theodore and horsea both shared an angry expression as they stared at the villian.
“What do you want?” Theodore responded to the rocket grunt’s first statement. He felt a bit of nervousness in his body and tension as he looked at him. He was appearing courageous on the outside, but inside he knew there was a bit of nervousness shrouding the courage that he carried. What if he stole the egg from them? What would he tell that old man? Surely nothing good would come from this… But he was going to do all he could to protect the egg. Even if it meant fighting a member of a ruthless gang. His grip on the mysterious egg grew tighter. “Hor-- Horsea!” The Pokemon responded before Theo could when the grunt offered a trade. Her voice was with anger, no doubt about that. The horsea definitely understood what they were saying, or at least the emotions they felt.
“You think I’m going to hand this egg to the likes of… You?!?” Theodore asked the grunt rhetorically, with a clear sense of disgust as he voiced the last word. The grunt and his Pokemon had covered both sides of the path, leaving the only chance for escape for Coral and Theodore to be the small ponds that covered the sides of where they now stood. “No no, I think we have a better idea. That trade is a bit one-sided, y’ know,” Theodore said the last statement with a little cheeky laugh and a smile. It was time for him and Coral’s first battle, and it was sure to be a grand one.
“Coral!” Theodore said to his horsea, who almost immediately turned her attention to him. “Try and hit ‘em with a big and strong Water Pulse!” A nod would come from the horsea as it flipped its body back towards the grunt’s rattata, who it seemed like the grunt was surely going to try to use for his bidding. “Horsea!” The Pokemon focused its attention and would release a pulsating blast of water towards the rattata. The horsea was hoping to hit both the rattata and its owner with the move.
“Time to show the true might of the dragon Pokemon, Coral. You can do it.” Theodore smiled. He turned down to the egg, even more confident now than before in his and his Pokemon’s ability to keep the egg safe from this predator and any other they ran into on their way for that matter.

The grunt's smirk didn't disappear, but the rest of his visage shifted to hint a bit of annoyance. Of course it couldn't be that easy. It was never that easy. "Rotten kids..." the man muttered under his breath. He gave a nod to his rat, who stood behind the boy, and crossed his arms. "Wrong choice kid." The Rocket member spoke confidently. The rattata readied, nose to the ground butt in the air. "Tackle that wimp to the ground Rattata." The purple rodent leapt forward and carried itself swiftly to the horsea's position. Without any falter in its pace the little rat was soon barreling into Coral's body. The two tipped to the ground with a wet slap. The water type took the brunt of the mud. Rattata was careful to use her as a cushion for the fall then jumped off of her tummy when it made to retreat back a little. It remained opposite its trainer though, so the horsea's hope to catch both the Rocket and his pesky rat would require quite the 180 pulse and would risk Theodore getting in the way. So she'd just have to settle for attacking Rattata. It was perhaps this complication in her plan that made her aim a bit off. The bulk of the watery cone that pulsed its way after her enemy was avoided by the normal type, but even if the disorienting aspects of the move missed it was still quite the hit. Like a water balloon, the attack burst on contact and completely swept over the small pokémon; leaving it completely drenched and putting it off balance for a moment. The Rattata coughed and tried to shake itself dry in the aftermath. As that was all going on the grunt perked up at the comment the young boy threw out while cuddling that prized egg. "Dragon? he laughed, looking between the tiny Coral and Theodore. "That ain't no dragon. Keep dreamin' kid. By the end of this you won't have any pokémon or eggs, but that imagination you can keep."vs Rocket Grunt Weather: Water Sport [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Rattata LV 6 HP 61% [13/21] [attr="class","qkt-wild-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Coral LV 5 HP 68% [13/19] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] Rattata [Guts]: Normal Coral [Sniper]: Normal Rattata used Tackle!
