Vitra was up with the sun and quickly ready to keep going on wherever this journey would take her. She ate breakfast, fed her pokemon, and then shouldered her bag and headed out, leaving the little town behind. It was a bit hot and humid, but it wasn't too bad, and she stuck to the shade as much as possible as she went along. Midori padded along with her, occasionally wandering off to sniff at something along the way, but she never let Vitra get too far ahead before running to catch up again.
After a good hour of walking, Vitra veered into the shade of a tree and sat, pulling a bottle of water from her bag and taking a sip before offering some to the Bulbasaur. Midori murmured her thanks and then wandered off again while Vitra sat, preferring to sit here for a moment and rest before going on. She didn't have anywhere to go, so there was no reason why she couldn't take a minute to cool off. She'd carry on in a minute, when Midori came back from whatever she was up to.

The day was rather abysmal for those feathery fiends gliding through the skies. The moisture thickening the air would collect on their wings, thus making flying for long periods irritating. Not a great combo with a bird already well known for their temper. One such avian was passing over the route where the lone bulbasaur was wandering. Spearow circled once just to double check there wasn't a trainer clamoring about the paths first, not spotting Vitra resting in the shade of a tree, then went into action. It silently broke into a dive and aimed straight for the young grass type, only shrieking its signature attack caw once it was in close. Little was it aware Midori was definitely more bulbasaur than the bird could handle. A Spearow (LV 3) is dive bombing Midori! Words added to Orange Egg Assumed Bike ON

Midori had been enjoying the sun, strolling through the grass not too far from where Vitra sat and stopping now and then to sniff at the flowers that dotted the grass here and there. She hadn't been paying attention to anything above, certainly not expecting anything to decide to attack her out of nowhere- but Spearow were well-known for their bad tempers and this one, for whatever reason, decided to dive on the grass-type. Midori didn't notice it until the harsh cry rang out, and then her head snapped up and her gaze pinned on the bird-type aiming for her. Too late to dodge, barely enough time to turn her head away to take the attack on her shoulder instead. "Bul-bah! Bulbasaur, saur!"
Vitra, eyes closed and head leaned back against the tree, hadn't noticed either; not until Midori called out, her vines lashing out to drive off the attack, did she realize. Then she jumped to her feet and hurried over to the Bulbasaur, waving her arms in hopes of shooing off the Spearow. She was indignant, but not really worried- it couldn't be strong enough to be a threat to Midori, could it? "What do you want?" she asked, crossing her arms. "We weren't bothering you! Leave us alone!"

The spearow's sharp beak barely grazed Midori's skin as she turned her shoulder towards it and the attack angle became weird and feeble, it screamed frustrated and flapped its wings to get some height, before it turned to dive at Midori once again. Then Vitra rushed to her pokemon's aid and the spearow swooped away in surprised and circled them as it assessed the new situation. A single grass type it could bully and chase off and brag about was no problem, but this was a human and the pokemon traveling with them often were awfully strong. It knew from experience that this might be more than one could handle. More than one could handle.. The bird couldn't really give up now, it had a reputation to live up to and others certainly had heard its attack screech, if it hadn't something to prove that it hadn't backed down, it would be in trouble. "Rrrroow, rowrowrowrow rrrooooow!" It called out, it had another chance and Vitra and Midori soon learned what it was as another spearow took off from a tree and arrived at the scene. "Spearow!" "Look what I found, want to share the fun?" The first spearow cawed to the new arrival who grinned and joined the circling. It would only be a matter of time before they started the attack. A Spearow [lvl 3] called for help and another spearow [lvl 4] arrives. They prepare to attack. Shiny? 1bbsR4Bk1-421-42

The Spearow ducked away, apparently not expecting the sight of a human, but it didn't leave. It circled overhead, keeping its gaze on Vitra and Midori for a moment. Then it cried out and another one appeared, joining the first as they continued to circle. Midori growled, clearly sensing the threat and looking toward Vitra to know what to do. Vitra, however, had other ideas. Midori could have taken either of them and not broken a sweat, but that wasn't what she wanted; her other pokemon needed to level up too; she couldn't rely just on Midori for stronger battles.
Two pokeballs were grabbed from her waist, and she released both Denki, her young Pichu, and Kuro. They weren't as strong as the two Spearow, but the experience would hopefully do them well- so long as she was careful not to push them too hard. "Denki, use Thunder Shock, and Kuro, Tackle!"
Squeaking agreement, the Pichu waddled forward and let loose his attack, while Kuro hurtled forward, bravely aiming for one of the Spearow. Hands on her hips, Vitra watched, hoping the attacks would be somewhat effective- and not turn badly for either of her team. Egg word count: 196

When the two baby pokémon were sent out to face them, both Spearow began laughing at the trainer. A grass type and two weaklings? Whatever concern the first bird had felt upon the sight of the trainer completely vanished. The pair continued circling, cackling at the two below, and then decided to play around a bit first. Descending into range the two feathered bullies hovered close and make their mockery very clear with spine tingling leers and disheartening growls. Both Denki and Kuro felt a little dispirited by the two spearow, but nonetheless did as Vitra had wanted. With a quick sparkle of energy the little mouse gave the smaller spearow a good shock that sent it sputtering onto the ground a foot below, whilst Kuro made to bring down the larger bird with a tackle. Unfortunately that spearow was a bit tougher and managed to brush off the worst of it. The low cackling calls sounded like laughter, even to Vitra, and Midori's burst of grumbling confirmed that it was nothing friendly about her or her team. Was it because they were both low levels? "We'll teach them, won't we?" she called to the two- but the growling and unblinking leers unnerved both young pokemon and they shuffled quietly, wide eyes staring across at the Spearow. At a word of encouragement from Vitra, both sent off their attacks; Denki keeping his distance while Kuro hurtled in close- and while his attack landed, he found himself colliding with a surprisingly solid form, bouncing off and fluttering away to put space between himself and his opponent.
The Spearow who had been shocked fell earthward, but the other hardly seemed phased; Vitra hesitated a moment and then settled on a different strategy. She wanted one of them, and it might be better to take one out now so it would be a one-on-one fight. "Denki, Thunder Shock again! Kuro, Tackle!" This time she aimed them both at the first Spearow, hoping both attacks would land and be enough to force it to back off; regardless of success or failure, she called both back once they had made their attacks, hoping to save them from being hurt- at all, if possible, or too badly if not.
In their place, she sent out Shiro and Kai. The Rattata took a moment to blink, taking in her surroundings, and then looked up at the Spearow and chattered her teeth in a clear message. "Rattaa!" Weakling, she taunted, red eyes gleaming. Egg Word Count: 263

Now that the first official attacks had been exchanged the birds were done toying with their opponents. The larger spearow made the first call, shrieking as he dipped down in pursuit of the starly. Payback for that tackle, even if it hadn't done too much to disturb the spearow that didn't seem to matter in terms of its retaliation. Before Kuro could switch targets he received an unforgiving peck on the head that immediately rendered him unconscious. The other spearow puffed out its feathers and skipped after Denki with a fire in its eyes. Angry as ever, the avian delivered a pretty strong peck that seemed to cut through the pichu's defenses, but it was still at a disadvantage. The electric mouse was built for bird resilience and Denki would further that point with another devastating shock attack. The spearow was sent reeling. Static spasms etching into its muscles it decided it had had enough and flew off, leaving the larger spearow to contend with the trainer on its own. Vitra's breath caught as the larger of the Spearow zoomed after Kuro as he headed back to the ground; the Starly heard the flap of wings but had no time to duck before the solid collision of the bigger bird-type's beak against his head. Soundlessly, he fell, landing heavily and lying motionless. Vitra ran to him, scooped him up, and held him in her arms as Denki made his successful attack. She knew the young pokemon couldn't take on another round, and she recalled him and sent out the stronger Rattata and Sentret to take up the fight.
Kai, clearly raring to go, made a short dash forward but stopped before going more than a foot. Shiro blinked at her and then looked back at Vitra, waiting for her direction. "Quick Attack, Kai!" the young girl called out, pointing as she cradled the fainted Starly to her body. Shiro stood silently, casting back a quick glance but doing nothing when Vitra gave him no guidance. Back at her side, Denki was more than happy to turn the fight over to the stronger two, huddled between Vitra and Midori just in case that Spearow decided to pay him back for driving off his fellow. Vitra, too, kept an eye skyward, wary of another Spearow coming along to take up the slack of this fight. She had no doubt about Shiro and Kai being able to handle one Spearow on their own, but another might make it harder. Egg Word Count: 246

Being left alone by the one who'd invited it sent the wild spearow into a fury of emotions. It was annoyed, angry, worried, and proud. Too proud. It couldn't back down from this fight, even as the defeated starly was replaced with a rat. Spearow spread its wings and cawed loudly, hoping to appear somewhat intimidating. But that ploy doesn't usually work against trainers. Instead Kai zipped forward through the grass and slammed into the fearsome bird. Spearow didn't like that either, but it wanted to deal with the larger threat: the electric mouse. However, having been distracted by the rodent's attack Spearow hadn't realized that Denki had been switched with Shiro. By the time the spearow became aware it had already committed to a run toward the sentret. It didn't want to stop partway and look indecisive. That was a sign of weakness. No. Instead it ran faster, squawked angrily and ran its beak into the scout pokémon. While Shiro and Kai might not get along in normal circumstances, being on the same side in a battle seemed to give both a reason to put aside their usual disagreements and work together. The Sentret gave a bit of a bounce as Kai's attack landed, only to brace a moment later when it became clear that the Spearow was launching its return attack against him. The sharp jab hurt, and he squeaked in protest, brushing one short leg over the now-sore spot with a sniff while Kai stared unblinkingly at the short-tempered bird-type.
Vitra considered her options. She wasn't sure if the Spearow was weakened enough to attempt a catch yet, and the two she'd sent out to face him might be the best to take it on. Even if it fainted- well, it'd just be easier to catch, right? Decided, she gave a slight nod to herself and then spoke, giving the two one last directive before she'd settle this one way or another. "Kai, use your Tail Whip, and Shiro, give it a Scratch!"
The Sentret set off instantly, one paw raised as it charged across the short distance, while Kai began flicking her tail side to side; Vitra took the last available pokeball from her waist and activated it, ready to throw and attempt a catch once her two had finished their attacks on the Spearow.

The proud bird puffed up its chest, feathers in pointed disarray. It was bruised and the odds were against it but that wouldn't stop it from facing down both of its opponents alone. It caught a glance at the rattata up to something in behind the sentret rushing forward. That made it feel a bit uneasy, dropping its guard a tad in favor of rushing to meet with Shiro. It went for another peck but ultimately it would be for naught, as Shiro's claws coming down would put an end to the battle. Spearow struggled, but after a moment it toppled over into quiet unconsciousness. VICTORY!

Shiro's claws made contact and did the trick; the Spearow staggered and then toppled over. Vitra wasted no time in throwing her pokeball, watching the fainted flying-type drawn within, unable to fight the capture and earning Vitra one more pokemon- another flying-type, but a strong and confident member of the team. She tucked the pokeball back with the rest and turned to her team, still cradling Kuro in one arm, beaming at them. It had been a great team effort- a spot of bad luck where Kuro had been concerned- but the rest had all gained strength from it. "Should we keep going?" she asked, knowing that she was going to get a few different opinions: Kai darted a short way along the path before looking back at the rest, and Midori was padding to follow, while Denki toddled after the Bulbasaur, curious to see more while sticking close to the grass-type. Shiro sat alone for a moment, watching the rest move ahead; his ears perked when Vitra looked back at him, assuring him he wasn't forgotten in favor of the rest, and he hurried to follow after her as the group moved on down the trail. The young trainer took just a moment to give Kuro a revive, restoring consciousness and some health to the young Starly.

It was yet another wonderful day on route 29, a day to relax and to do things slowly to just enjoy it! For a wurmple that meant a day of eating, sleeping, eating some more, sunning on a branch, then find the best tasting leaf in the whole tree and watch the sunset while eating that. But oh boy did this wurmple find it boring! It was laying spread out with its stubby legs on each side of a branch and bored out of its mind. It had eaten leaves and it had attempted to sleep as many hours away as it could but it was of no use. It had even tried to eat at the top of the trees and pretending to be distracted and not keeping a lookout in the hope a bird would come past and give the day some action. It knew it was stupid, but it was desperate, okay? But even the birds had stayed away and now it was out of ideas. Sounds reached it and it turned its head tiredly but then it raised its head hopefully and stared at the human and her pokemon. A human with pokemon, they were always in for some actions, weren't they? It slowly raised itself on its small stubby legs and watched as Tatakai raised ahead and the others followed more slowly, and it grinned. Perhaps the day wouldn't be so boring after all, and if it was lucky the human might want to bring it along and let it explore a much bigger area than just a few trees. It dropped to the ground right in front of Takakai and reared up to be sure to gain their attention, its eyes were beaming from excitement and had it had a mouth it could smile with, it would have had the biggest grin possible. Kai skidded to a halt as she spotted the Wurmple, head tipping a touch to the side. This bug-type wasn't running away, and it didn't look nervous about facing the team. Kai circled it, curious about the strange Pokemon who so boldly faced the lot of them, but she didn't attack yet. Vitra had caught up by now, and when she called, Kai darted over to her. The young trainer blinked over at the Wurmple and then called out. "You want to fight, is that it?" she called out, gently stroking a finger over Kuro's head feathers.
"Okay, then. Kuro, you're up." With a ruffle of his feathers, the little Starly hopped from her shoulder to flutter over to the Wurmple. Vitra had no intention of subjecting the low-level Pokemon to fight the Wurmple, however, and she called Kuro back before sending Kai out to take the Starly's place. The Rattata would have to take a blow before she could attack, but Kai would be able to stand up to it better than Kuro could have. Kuro landed back on her shoulder, looking on as Kai took her place in front of the Wurmple, her demeanor changing as she readied herself to fight.
