Dros, lvl 16: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip The thing about contests was that Martin couldn't care less. Contests reminded him of school and silly kids fighting over frivilous matters. It was nothing to get worked up about. Martin watched the frenzy of people egging each other on before the start signal sounded, and he wondered briefly why on earth he had signed up for this again. Dros stood like a patient shadow at his side, giving off the perfect picture of obedience, and as Martin watched the others race off the minute the starting bell sounded, the Ivysaur looked up at Martin in question. Dros couldn't recall a single time Martin had actual taken him somewhere alone, and it was an odd sensation not to have the ever present Purloin lurking around. Martin adjusted his cap while letting out air in a slow breath, and then pulled out his small notebook and pencil before letting his gaze search the area for a suitable pathway. He only just registered the last remaining participant beside himself, a woman with another Ivysaur, and in professionel curiosity his eyes lingered on the Ivysaur. It was very rare he saw other Ivysaurs he could compare to Dros. The stranger's looked larger, probably stronger and more battle hardened, but then Martin had never considered training Dros for battles. He shrugged his thoughts off and pointed his pencil towards his chosen path. "This way, Dros" The direction led them past the strangers, and Dros cast a sideways glance to the other Ivysaur, as they walked by. Someday Dros wanted to be just as big and strong as that one. Maybe even stronger, but that was wistful thinking, and Dros trudged along following in Martin's footsteps with a heavy heart. Despite his determination to show Martin just how strong he could become, he held no hope that Martin would actual let him. (Ooc: ~)

A recently evolved beautifly hovered several feet above a patch of tall grass forlornly. Despite all this having just started up it had already been rejected; twice even! It wasn't big and strong, or really that tough looking. If anything it was a runt. Well... When it saw yet another trainer coming towards it it decided it would make itself worth a second glance. The butterfly flew over toward Martin and Dros and made a little harmless gust to grab their attention. Shineh? VE6B2sSd1-421-42

Dros, lvl 16: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip When the Beautifly flew into sight shortly after starting his trek, Martin looked between it and Dros with quick calculation, and hesitated. The Ivysaur had proved to be made of sturdy stuff, but he had to consider if he could stand fighting through 5 battles. Especially, if the first opponent hit him hard with wind attacks. Martin pulled in air in resolve. Nothing else to do but find out, though unlike his last visit he would probably have to keep a very close eye on the fights, leaving less time for plant studies unfortunately. "You know the drill, Dros. Start out with Leech Seed." Dros had expected Martin to only show the bare minimum of interest in any wild Pokemon crossing their way. It was rather obvious that his trainer was here for the park and plants. So when Martin actually used a good couple of seconds studying the opponent that had approached them, Dros' heart skipped a beat in welcome surprise, and wasn't his voice just a little more into it than usual, when the order came? Dros wasted no time obliging the words. (Ooc: ~)

Dros [Overgrow]: Normal ... used Leech Seed! Beautifly seemed very happy when its challenge was accepted. Dros was the first to act, sending a cloud of little seeds to pelt the bright body of the bug type. It hadn't been expecting that, too overjoyed with the trainer not trying to ignore it or send it away. The butterfly dove down into one of its old fallbacks it had known since as early as it could remember, tackling Dros with decent force but the ivysaur was too sturdy to simply topple over. Beautifly seemed unsure of what to do about that, and while it processed the seeds began subtly sapping away at its strength.

Dros, lvl 16: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip "Now a tackle" Martin told Dros without giving it much thought. The Beautifly would probably be an okay competitor for the contest or at least something to show for, but Martin didn't feel like wasting the sports ball just yet. He especially didn't like the chances with a fully evolved Pokemon, and the Beautifly hadn't exactly shown any great wit from that first go. (Ooc: ~)

This beautifly really was a curios and cheery one indeed , it paid no attention to the seed that stung to it but only moved closer to get a good look at the grass type. Dros's tackle made it giggle, he mimicked it! It made a few loops and spun arond itself before it dived and gave Dros yet another tackle, which was as weak as the last. Was it really all it could do? Once again it paid no attention when the seeds did their work.

Dros, lvl 16: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip Martin rubbed the bridge of his nose, as the two Pokemon tackled each other. This was getting boring. He would much rather have taken a look at that flower standing off to the left of their path, but then he had decided to bring Dros who wasn't actually trained to take care of battles on his own. Martin pondered the merit of actual doing something in that regard. So far Dros hadn't really shown any skills in leadership as he had hoped for his garden team, but the Ivysaur was at least obedient most of the time, and right now eager to please. "Another tackle" Martin sighed, while he admitted to himself that he hadn't done himself any favours by keeping the grass starter from getting stronger. At least the current opponent was apparently too dense to figure out it had better attacks available against the sturdy grass type before it. Better just put it out of its misery. "And if one doesn't cut it, give it two."Dros nodded sharply to the commands to make sure Martin caught on to the fact that he was listening and understood. He immediately aimed to follow through with it too. He felt a little pity for the delighted Beautifly, who were just having a good time, or was it himself he pitied for not being able to enjoy the simple match the same way? Dros wasn't sure, but it didn't realy matter. What mattered was that he finally had Martin's somewhat positive attention. (Ooc: tackle twice)

It was a slow process, the butterfly becoming worried after the first tackle about the sapping seeds and attempting to absorb back some of that energy, but after the second tackle it was undoubtedly out classed. Beautifly managed to escape into the trees before being, presumably, knocked fully unconscious. Dros grew to LV 18 and gained +1 Happiness! [55/55 HP]

Dros, lvl 18: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip Martin stayed silent as the Beautifly fled. Even if he had realised Dros needed the training, he didn't like to reveal this fact to Dros himself. The Ivysaur shouldn't get any ideas. "Good enough" He decided for a comment to his Pokemon, and was finally able to approach the flower that had caught his attention. By the time Martin was done studying the flower for every possible detail a long time had passed, and as he looked around he suddenly got worried that the contest would end shortly. Dros had stayed dutifully at his side the entire time, but as they hadn't gotten interrupted at all, they still had nothing for the competition. Martin grumbled to himself and then sighed. "I guess we better find a bug."(Ooc: )

When Martin and Dros was done looking at the flower, the grass nearby rustled and a wurmple poked its head out. It hadn't noticed them and was calling out for its sibling, one who had apparently disappeared from its cocoon it had spent quite some time in and now the cocoon lay empty back, where had it gone to? It called out again and scouted the sky. Wurmple [lvl 8] is looking for its sibling. Shiny: Y7zBIFtB1-421-42

Dros, lvl 18: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip Martin gave the Wurmple that soon showed up a single glance and shook his head. Dros had already trotted in front, ready to fight, but Martin stopped him. "That one isn't worth our time, Dros. Let's move on." He said and walked away keeping a good distance from it. Whatever it was looking for, had surely nothing to do with them. Dros hesitated slightly, giving the Wurmple a closer look. Martin was probably right though. If nothing else the trainer had a certain knack for recognising weaknesses. Dros backed away and soon caught up to Martin again. (Ooc: )

Dros, lvl 18: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip Dros startled when the bigger Wurmple came hurtling at him. He had been on his way to follow Martin, but on pure defensive instinct he launched a bunch of seeds into the air in the general direction of the attacker. Martin had commanded that attack so often at the start of battles it was becoming an automatic response. At the same time he called out, trying to pull Martin's attention back. Martin stopped and looked back in surprise, when Dros' voice suddenly came out. Other than the occasional grunt of exertion and show of understanding when given an order the Ivysaur rarely said anything. Martin immediately recognised that the Wurmple now fighting was definitely another one. It was at minimum bigger, and might even be worth a fight, though not interesting to him for the competition. "Alright, Dros. Now tackle it." he interjected himself right back into the battle, even if he had missed the first round of exchange. (Ooc: Dros uses Leech Seed, then Tackle.)

Dros retaliated with a tackle of his own, sending the wurmple sliding backwards but not far enough to keep it from lunging forward and burying it's tiny teeth into his several times, ouch they were sharp! Dros would be really happy to have those seeds to help him in this battle.

Dros, lvl 18: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip Dros shook himself from the discomfort of the Wurmples bite. He was a bit astonished just how vicious the bug was in battle. He had never met a larva Pokemon this strong before, but it wasn't like he had that much experience to pull from either. His adrenaline pumping and still wanting to prove himself, he was already moving again when Martin gave his next command. Dros was just lucky the command was another tackle. He didn't dare think what Martin would have done, if he seemed the slightest disobedient. (Ooc: Dros uses Tackle)
