With the worm pokémon moving quicker and hitting harder than those seen along route 29 there wasn't much room for error. With Dros already setting into a charge the wurmple mimicked him, though not nearly as good a run given its caterpillar body shape. When they bashed into each other the ivysaur was the one to make a small bit of headway, forcing wurmple to arch backward just as the seeds hit.

Dros, lvl 18: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip Martin glanced at the time while Dros tackled his opponent for a second time. He did notice that the Ivysaur had actually been moving before Martin made to call out an attack but decided to give him a bit of leeway in the moment. The Wurmple was certainly tough, and despite Dros' best efforts it was taking too long Martin decided. Before the two could clash again, Martin pulled out one of the Sports balls and aimed a throw towards the wurmple. (Ooc: Martin uses a Sports Ball)

So enthralled with the battle the wurmple didn't even notice the sport ball until it was bopping it on the side. It gasped, tired and not in any condition to fight against the device. Which showed when the ball locked before it even hit the ground. Wurmple LV: 20 OT: Martin Roth Moves: String Shot, Tackle, Poison Sting, Bug Bite Ability: Shield Dust If you choose to keep this pokémon at the end of the contest it will be added to Martin's PC Dros grew to LV 21 and gained +1 Happiness! (+3) He's trying to learn Razor Leaf; forget an old move?
Martin and Dros got a brief reprieve from the temporary inhabitants of the park before they would chance a rare encounter with one of the more prized catches. The silver sheen of a medieval helmet-looking object waddled through the grass and approached the trainer. Its lips were pursed, sticking out like a long tongue in mockery of all those that looked at it. Dros, lvl 21: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf Dros had to stop suddenly and nearly stumpled, when the ball flew past him and sucked the wurmple away from the battle field. He shook himself and forced his breathing calm as he looked back at Martin. The trainer hadn't said a word of warning, which was rare, and it made Dros wonder what was going on in his head. However, Martin was as usual unreadable and Dros resigned himself to just observing as Martin picked up the capture without a word. The slight pause was soon interrupted by another inhabitant of the park, and Dros looked up at Martin as the bug approached them almost lazily compared to the Wurmple. Martin wasn't late to finger one of the Sports Ball this time, but before actually making use of it, he said "Give it a dose of Poison Powder" Dros noted he sounded almost polite (Ooc: Dros forgets Vine Whip and learns Razor Leaf Dros uses Poison Powder. If succesful, Martin uses a Sport Ball)

It went like it had been scripted, Dros's spores flew and filled the air, the shelmet looked to be buckle down and ready itself to take some hits and then give it back tenfold. It never got to that as Martin's pokeball soared through the air and sucked the pouting shelmet inside. A bit of wiggling and the pokeball closed shut on its content. The pokeball containing the wurmple burst open and threw a confused looking worm on the ground, It looked around for a minute and then raced off back towards where it had last seen its kin. Shelmet LV: 16 OT: Martin Roth Moves: Struggle Bug, Bide, Acid, Curse Ability: Hydration or Shell Armor (89% health, 1 ball) If you choose to keep this pokémon at the end of the contest it will be added to Martin's PC Dros grew to LV 22 and gained +1 Happiness! The shelmet was a sure catch but something green had been watching from the dense treetops and now it appeared. The Scyther buzzed loudly with its wings and gestured for Martin and Dros it was time to head back to the entrance, the only problem was, it was a bit too early and the contest was still running. Dros, lvl 22: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf Martin felt his level of satisfaction rise as the Shelmet was caught without a hitch. It felt like the easiest battle of the day, and he did believe it was a rather good catch for the contest too, even if he didn't really care about the result. Picking up the newest capture he spared no attention to the release of the earlier Wurmple, but he did pay attention to the arrival of the Scyther that decided to cross their path not a minute later. He had heard of Scythers, but he had never seen one wild before, and it certainly looked more impressive than the Shelmet he just caught. Martin let out air and rolled his shoulders in preparation. Amongst the little he had heard they were notoriously stubborn and difficult to catch. "Let's try that again, Dros. Poison Powder." He repeated his words from a minute ago, preparing a Sports Ball again. Somehow the sound of Martin's almost relaxed voice unnerved Dros. He had gotten so used to his trainer's sharp commands, that the entire thing felt off kilter, when Martin wasn't acting that way. At least he had never sounded this calm when they were alone before. Only when the human had to act the part in front of other humans, but maybe that was it. Maybe Martin was being cautious in case some of the other visitors in the park was nearby. Dros decided that must be it, all the while he did as told, only feeling a slight trepidation at not using Leech Seed. He had started feeling the tiredness of all the battles in a row, and he couldn't be sure Martin would actually care enough to help him rest up and heal. It wasn't that long ago Martin had just let him fight to exhaustion. (Ooc: Dros uses Poison Powder, if succesful Martin tries a Sport Ball)

The scyther looked quite suprised to see that instead of following its guidelines the ivysaur chose to turn on it and filled the the air with toxic spores. It stared dumbfounded and inhaled enough for them to affect it, before it realized they were trying to catch it for the competition! It rushed forward and slashed Dros with its scythes before it disappeared into the thrown pokeball, only to break it out of it and in a blur crash into the ivysaur.

Dros, lvl 22: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf Okay, so the first try didn't work. That was to be expected, he supposed, and Martin was quick to get the next ball ready. Out the corner of his eye he watched Dros for any telltale signs of exhaustion. Having to take on the Scyther's retaliation without the opportunity to fight back was likely draining, and Martin still needed the Ivysaur to the end of this. At least this would be the final battle, and Martin didn't have to worry about even more battles "Stick it out a bit more, Dros" he encouraged lightly, deciding a bit of moral boost could be beneficial for now. He threw the second Sports Ball. (Ooc: another Sports Ball used)

It fought the ball vigorously and broke out of it just before the third shake. Now it was angry and it rushed after Dros even though he hadn't moved an inch. Catch attempt: MiEdqcAa1-1001-100

Dros, lvl 22: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf Martin wasn't stupid enough to hold his breath in anticipation, but he squinted as the ball rattled from side to side, before bursting open again. The third ball was already ready to throw as the Scyther rushed Dros in its anger. "Stubborn one for sure" he mumbled mainly to himself. Dros winced at the onslaught, but stood his ground. He had endured just as bad punishment twice before, and it probably wouldn't be the last time either. It was the first time however, he had no option to fight back. He hoped it would be over soon. (Ooc: third Sports Ball used)

Dros, lvl 22: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf Martin grumbled, shot a single look at Dros, just to make sure the Ivysaur could still handle the pressure, and readied another ball. It wasn't about the contest, or if he liked the Scyther or not. It was about patience, and either Martin won or the Scyther fainted. There was no other option. "You've got it, Dros" Martin surprised himself, as the words slipped out. He blinked once, and then decided to ignore it and focus on making the throw proper. (Ooc: fourth Sports Ball used)

The scyther was apparently much more focused on Dros and didn't even try to dodge any of the park balls thrown at it, perhaps it knew the only way out for it was to defeat the ivysaur and get them out of the competition? This time the pokeball shook once... twice.. at the third shake it bursted open and the scyther was seeing red as it slashed at Dros. The ground was littered with the remains of the destroyed park balls. Catch attempt: FgW0thh91-1001-100

Dros, lvl 22: Tackle, Poison Powder, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf Dros staggered and suppressed a groan of pain. He spread his feet a bit wider, his head lowering to hang mere inches from the ground. Martin hesitated at the sight, forced himself not to bite his lip, and then grabbed another ball, but also pulled out a small bottle of potion hidden from view in the palm of his free hand. "Just a little more" He didn't bother using Dros' name this time, making it inconspicuous who or what he was talking about. (Ooc: )
