Aphrodite's heart rate felt like it had increased a bit as she stood at the entrance of the building and waited for the bell to sound off. The golden-haired beauty trainer had decided to participate in the Bug Catching Contest. She was not a huge fan of Bug-type Pokemon, but there were a few pretty insects like Beautifly, Butterfree, Masquerain and Ribbombee that she enjoyed seeing from time to time. However, she did not enter the contest in hopes of adding a new Bug-type to her team, but more so to take part in a competition that she had never experience before in her life. There is no way that she would allow herself to turn down a new challenge. A soft and soothing cry soon sounded off into Aphrodite's ear, causing her to turn her attention towards the alluring white fox standing on her right side. "I'm okay, Aurora. I promise. I'm just a little jittery right now, but I'm sure that will go away soon enough." She stated with a half smile as she extended her index finger and rubbed it against her Alolan Ninetales' head in a careful manner. It was not too much longer before the bell that she had been waiting on to ring sounded off in her ear. "Finally, it's game time! Let's go win this contest!" She yelled, perking herself up a bit before rushing out of the entrance and into the grassy area. "Come out, come out, where every you are little buggies." She called out in a soft tone.

While walking near a row of flowers, Aphrodite and Aurora soon shifted their attention towards the sky after hearing a unfamiliar buzzing sound. "Well, that didn't take too long. It looks like we've found our first Bug Pokemon and she looks quite pretty for a bug." Aphrodite stated with a smile as she pointed towards the colorful firefly-like creature. Aurora nodde her head in agreement before leaping into a fighting stance. "Aurora, let's start with a Confuse Ray!" She commanded the mystical fox. Aurora let out a small roar before summoning a colorful and sinister ray of light to rain over her opponent. Aphrodite figured that it would be better to try to inflict as little damage as possible on the Illumise at first. However, if the pretty little firefly decides to put up too much of a fight then she would have her Pokemon step it up a bit more.

Illumise had only just hopped out of the flowers to avoid any damage to them when suddenly she realized she didn't know up from down. Was she still hovering in the air? She couldn't tell, her stubby legs giving no indication. The illumise ended up hurting herself in the confusion.

Aphrodite and Aurora both watched as the Illumise attempted to fly away from the scene, only to end up hurting herself in the process. "It looks like the Confuse Ray was a success, Aurora. Let's see if this Illumise weakened herself enough for us to catch her." Aphrodite smirked, retrieving one of the unique catching orbs that was given to her at the start of the competition. She would give it a kiss for good luck before hurling it into the direction of the colorful firefly.
Attacks: Extrasensory, Confuse Ray, Ice Beam, Dazzling Gleam Ability: Snow Cloak
Aphrodite tossed a Sports Ball.

The confused bug had no way of dodging the sport ball, she didn't even noticed that it came flying towards her and sucked her in. Even the ball seemed affected by the confusion as it didn't wiggle clearly back and forth as they usually did but in the end the illumise was caught.

"Well, I do believe that we're off to a good start, Aurora." Aphrodite smiled, walking over towards the Sports Ball containing her newly capture firefly-like Pokemon. "I'm not too sure if she's a winner just yet or not. So, we should probably keep looking to see what other Bug-type Pokemon that we can found around her." She stated, walking a little bit further down the path leading towards more flower beds. Aurora nodded her head in a agreement before following behind her trainer.

A pile of dead leaves were laying on the ground because bugs loved them and they gave plenty of food and hiding spots for that type of pokemon. Half burrowed in the pile was a venipede, busy munching its way through the leaves, it paused as it noticed Aphrodite and Aurora knowing very well what was going on today and ready to fight if that was what they wanted. Aphrodite and Aurora walked alongside the bed of flowers, admiring flowers' beauty as well as seeking out their next encounter. Aphrodite was so flower-gazing that she did not even notice pile of dead leaves. It was not until Aurora and leaped in front of her and let out a soft bark that she turned her attention towards the dead leaves and the poisonous bug-type. "Oh my gosh! Thank you, Aurora. I can't believe that I almost stepped on this hideous creature." She stated, taking a few steps away from the bug/poison-type Pokemon. Her fragile body shivering a bit due to the encounter with a poison-type Pokemon. "Let's go the other way. There's no way that I'm going to attempt to capture that one." She stated with a little bit of disgust as she began to walk into the opposite direction.

The contestants of the catching contest didn't have to go far before they met their next encounter, as a volbeat came flying and paused when it saw them. "Oh, look. There's a Volbeat. It's not as cute as the Illumise that we encountered and captured earlier, but he sure does have a lot of personality." Aphrodite pointed out, a couple of soft giggles escaping from her lips as she watched the Volbeat strike his pose. She was going to walk past the Volbeat until she noticed that the Pokemon appeared to have been attempting to tell that want to do. "Hmm, you're a little cheeky, aren't you?" She smirked, glancing up at the Volbeat. "Let's see how strong you really are, Volbeat. Aurora, use Ice Beam!" She commanded her Ninetales.

The Confuse Ray had done its job and the volbeat looked really pleased with itself

"Oh, you were able to take one of Aurora's Ice Beam. Not too many Pokemon can stand up against one of those." Aphrodite stated with smirk. She was slightly impressed that the Volbeat did not faint from the powerful ice attack. "And now you're using one of our little tricks against us" She added, shaking her head as she watched the dancing orbs of light make contact with Aurora's body. "Aurora! Shake it off and use another Ice Beam!" She commanded.

Aphrodite watched as Aurora fought through her confusion long enough to fire a gorgeous beam of ice energy into the direction of the dancing firefly. The Ice Beam made quick work out of the Volbeat and sent it flying high into the air. "I suppose it is a good thing that I didn't have intentions on capturing the Volbeat, huh?" She giggled, walking over to give Aurora's head a gentle nuzzle. "Besides, our Illumise is way cuter." She smiled, removing her hand from Aurora's head. "It is time to get going and see what else is awaiting us here." She spoke, leading them down a different path this time.
