She had walked every street up and down New Bark Town, and knew the place like the back of her hand by now. It was time to get a move on. Trixie held up a hand to keep her hair out of her face as she turned to face the wind. She had three Pokeballs in tow and an egg in her backpack, a gift that she had received, seemingly out of nowhere, during some kind of "Welcome to Johto!" convention for newcomers, as far as she could gather. Trixie hadn't even noticed the convention at first; she had been too busy focusing on passing out advertising flyers alongside April. It seemed a good way to earn some easy cash (and, admittedly, to build up the turtle's confidence outside of her Pokeball). Also in her backpack a gift from the saleswoman for her troubles. "TM04 Calm Mind" was emblazoned on its surface. Trixie wasn't sure what it was. Probably one of those Zen yoga DVDs she had seen her mother with on occasion. The other reason she had decided to head west, aside from boredom, was that while working aforementioned job she had heard rumors of a guy in Cherrygrove called Mr. Pokemon. Supposedly, he had collected a lot of Pokemon Eggs, and knew a lot about Pokemon in general. Maybe he could tell her what kind of egg it was. She released her Pidgey from the ball, watching it swoop around in the wind. "They didn't give you a name at the Adoption Centre, huh? Well, that won't do. What do you wanna be called?" The bird landed, and spread its wings, seeming to show off its brilliant red feathers. Bird... Red... Robin? "How 'bout Robin?" she said. When the Pidgey let out a chirp in response, she took it as a good sign. "Welcome to the team then, Robin!" she said as she headed on down the route to Cherrygrove, the Pidgey settling down upon her head. I guess when Mother called it a birds' nest, she wasn't entirely wrong.[words=342] To Cacnea Egg Please update Trixie's party with the following: Robin ♂ OT: Leilani Keoloha

The weather had finally turned slightly warmer signaling that spring was just around the corner, for wild pokemon it was the toughest time of the year. Little to no food was left having lastet most of the winter and it especially was a problem in the crowded area on Route 29, and the pokemon were getting increasingly hungry and weak. A wurmple had had enough of this, it had been hatched last summer while there had been an abundance of food and plenty of place to shelter. Its only worry had been to fill its belly and look out of the occasional bird, but things had changed as the leaves had turned tasteless and fallen off the trees! It had lived off them for months now and the weather had just turned colder and colder and icy white stuff had even covered all surfaces for some time. It seemed like it never ended and now the wurmple wanted to get out of here, this place was no longer a paradise and it was convinced it never would it change, so it was time to leave. The wind bufferet it around as it clung to a tree at the edge of New Bark Town. The wurmple had seen humans before a lot, and it had especially noticed that the pokemon living with the humans looked healthy and well fed! A lot of trainers traveled through the route to go somewhere else. It would be perfect! Trixie didn't get to go far from the town, a few steps after having passed the city sign, a pokemon called out to her. The wurmple had scrambled down the tree and was making its way over the ground as fast as it could, which was slow, calling out its challenge to her as it tried to catch up. It would attempt to get in front of her and force her to battle it, this was the chance it had waited for. It just needed to convince her it was good enough to join her so it could get captured and she could feed it and take it away from this hell. It was thin, dead leaves didn't hold much nutrition, but it had made it this far and certainly wasn't the weakest wurmple around. It looked determined at her, wanting to go all the way. Wurmple [lvl 8] is desperate to prove its worth and get out of here. Shiny: dttl83cZ1-421-42

Something was emerging from a tree. Professor Elm had told Trixie to search for Pokemon, but to have one search for her, right off the bat... well, that was certainly something she didn't expect. The somewhat scrawny-looking Wurmple, as her Pokedex called it, had shuffled into the middle of the road directly ahead of her. It turned to face her, lifted its front body up as high as it could, and let out a little "Wurm!"
But the sound was almost immediately drowned out by a furious screech. From above?
Robin did not like this little interloper at all. Not merely because of the ages-long enmity between bird and worm Pokemon, oh no, but also because of its coloration. What damnable shade of red was that? To think it could just strut around as it pleased in that gaudy, awful, color? No, no, Robin was going to set this little pest straight. He tucked in his wings and feet, and made to blitz the Wurmple in a full-body tackle, trying to knock it off its feet.

The Worm let out a screech as the tackle hit it. All it wanted to do was prove it wasn't just a snack for any wild pokemon that came by. Now it was getting attacked by a red pidgey for no reason... Talk about rude- he was about to show this trainer and bird a thing or two considering this brazen attack. "Ooh I'll show you what happens when you mess with me1 The Almighty Wurmpul!" The Bug was getting ready for a strike back. Of course, since it was only level 8, it wouldn't probably be able to do much. However, it wasn't going to let itself seem weak. The Wurmpul thought about its move for a few minutes and soon figured something out. Soon, wurmple had retaliated toward the bird with its own tackle, furiously trying to gather back its strength. "TAKE THIS! Haha. I'm the greatest!" This bug was fixing to really regret her life choices, however. "H-hey! Robin, you can't just attack out of nowhere like that!" It didn't seem like the Pidgey had any interest in listening to Trixie, though. Served her right for not checking her Pokedex beforehand. Although arguably this one was a little bit... extra, judging by how he seemed to be volleying insults with the Wurmple, right before the Wurmple smacked him back with a tackle to the wing. Robin floundered a little bit in midair, but he recovered his senses quickly enough. So the little insect had some fight in him after all? The Pidgey clucked his beak derisively. Lifting himself up higher in the air, he retaliated by flapping his wings rapidly, sending out a spinning gust of wind at the Wurmple that became a full-on dust devil when it impacted the ground. The miniature tornado was then sent straight ahead into the worm Pokemon's path. What would it do? [words=151] to Cacnea egg, please also add 176 from previous post that was not counted. The Wurmple was riding high after hitting the bird and proving how strong he was, but that all changed after he heard the birds trainer scold her but she wouldnt listen. The bug became worried now on what the Red Pidgey would do to her, and started to panic. The tiny insect started to think hard, but before he could a gust was sent his way. "EEP1 no fair i was just getting started!" The Wurmple stayed there koed and disoriented, inwardly cussing the pidgey out. The Gust attack knocked the wild Wurmple backward, whereupon it let out an "Urp!" as its head smacked into its rear end. Like a loop on a roller coaster, it tumbled end-over-end a few times and then finally lay still. Trixie could see the swirls in its eyes. Robin descended from the air and landed on the ground near the Wurmple, triumphantly spreading his wings and placing a foot over the defeated bug's head. He felt stronger already! Who would not revel in his moment of glorious triumph? "Uh... good work, Robin!" Trixie said, someone let down at the swift conclusion to the battle. Finally her Pokedex could get a good reading on the Pokemon. When she flipped through its notes, she saw something strange. Its evolutions were not just alternate forms like the Scatterbug she had, but two entirely different species? Professor Elm will love this! she thought. "Pokeball, go!"
After heading back to the New Bark Town Pokemon Center to get her team healed up (and spending a few additional hours drilling it into Robin's head that no, attacking the new teammates was not acceptable, no matter how much he wanted to show off his strength), Trixie had resumed her journey. Outside of its Pokeball was the new Wurmple, who was proving to be just as much of a personality as Robin was. Every so often he reached up toward Trixie's hand to nom on a handful of salad that she had bought from the discount supermarket. Silver had recently acquired his first pokemon and while she wasn't what she had initial been but she would have to do. He had been drilling her to toughen her up and he thought she wasn't a complete failure albeit not really impressive. Had he found another pokemon along the way which had been worth more, he might have ditched her, but he had found all encounters disappointing and they had ben useful in training Chikorita as she had beaten them all rather easily. He was scouting the area for something to use for his training but he had chased most wild pokemon away and he stayed away from the small kids, they were not worth his time and they might run back and wail to their parents. To Trixie the forest was almost eerie silent if the wind hadn't been shaking the treetops and sent leaves flying through the air. No wild pokemon were around and it was almost like a stroll in a park. A bit of a problem if Trixie wanted to find wild pokemon for her to use in her training and getting the team some battle experience. She got quite far into the wilderness and away from New Bark Town before something happened. Out of the blue someone suddenly spoke to her. "Choose your best pokemon, you are in a battle," the voice said and if she hadn't already noticed the boy in the shadows under a tree, the flash from the released chikorita would reveal him. He was leaning against the tree and looked to expect this to be over quick and rather boring to him. After a while, Trixie was getting a little bit frustrated trying to hunt for more Pokemon. Had they all run away? Perhaps still asleep as it was still early in the springtime? Then out of the blue she heard a boy's voice. A smug looking kid had stepped out from under the shadows of a tree and was challenging her to a battle!
This was exciting. She'd seen Pokemon battles, of course, but since she never had one of her own she had been unable to participate... only in contests were her parents' Pokemon lent to her, and she had never even gotten past the first round based on looks.
The boy sent out a Pokemon in a flash of light. Trixie's Pokedex identified it as "Chikorita. The Leaf Pokemon. A sweet aroma gently wafts from the leaf on its head. It is docile and loves to soak up sun rays." She scrunched up her face a little bit at that description. Generally boys like that didn't go for cutesy Pokemon like these... did they? Still, maybe opposites could attract! And he was telling her to send her strongest? So he was confident in his own Pokemon's strength. She liked that.
Oberon perked right up as he heard that. Her strongest Pokemon! Why, that had to be himself, of course! So he scooted forward and stared down the Chikorita. <I'm gonna turn you into a salad!> he said in pokespeech, waving his stubby front legs in an attempt to come across as flexing them. For Trixie's part, while she didn't exactly agree with the Wurmple's self-assessment, she was impressed at his ability to take the initiative. "All right, I choose you, Oberon! Use Poison Sting!"
Excitedly, the Wurmple charged the Chikorita as fast as his little buggy legs could carry him, then when he was close he whipped around his rear end and attempted to jab her with the two stingers on it.

The soft green grass type was taken slightly aback by such a statement. She blinked, mouth ajar just a little whilst those bright red eyes set themselves into a questioning gaze. "Not if I stomp you first," she eventually retaliated, bolstering her claim with a lift of her front leg slamming down into the green beneath her feet. The threat appeared to embolden her. Her trainer was less expressive. The red-head sighed quietly, seemingly disappointed with the magenta worm that had accordioned his way into prime battling position. His lips skewed to the side whilst the boy stared dully at his new opponents. "This is it? Well..." he trailed off shrugging his shoulder slightly before dipping a hand into one of his pockets. A strong gust of wind blew through them all then. The young man's head of thick hair brushed across his face. "Make it fast Chikorita: Razor Leaf."The command came off with barely any energy. Just another Tuesday as it were. Luckily the Johto starter had more than enough spunk for them both. Oberon was already squirming his way into melee, but he was so slow. Chikorita giggled and made a practice swing of her head leaf. It didn't deter the brave wurmple. Didn't even make him flinch. The grass pokemon's visage widened to an excited smirk. She could feel the adrenaline rising. Oberon may not be a unique encounter species wise, but many of the wild pokemon she had scared away today with her growing strength weren't nearly as confident as this one. With only a couple feet of distance between them she finally acted out. The large leaf seated on her cranium whipped around in a rapid motion. A small barrage of leaflets flung themselves at the bug, cutting through several of his hardened segments but minimally; she didn't quite have the angle. Still, through his opponents barrage the wurmple made it up close and delivered an aggressive poke with his pair of stingers. They jabbed into one of her back legs but she was already making to jump back so the poisonous sting didn't quite take full effect. vs Silver Weather: Gusting (+1SP Flying) [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Chikorita LV 12 HP 92% [33/36] [attr="class","qkt-wild-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Oberon LV 8 HP 67% [18/27] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] Chikorita [Overgrow]: Normal Oberon [Shield Dust]: Normal SP19 Chikorita used Razor Leaf! Trixie winced as Oberon's attack did... not very much at all, truth be told. In fact the Chikorita looked barely scratched. She knew about type matchups, but this was the first time she had been shown just how little they could do in a serious battle. The Chikorita was a tough opponent, too - she could see angry red marks on Oberon's body, standing out against the lighter red of his carapace.
Still, she wasn't about to give up yet. She ordered a Tackle attack, upon which the bug charged forward at his top speed, trying to stay steady on his feet against the headwind. Trixie frowned and watched to see how the Chikorita would respond to that.

The strange red-headed adversary sneered down at the Pokemon as they tangled, a sense of superiority and severity to his gaze. Every movement the Chikorita made was being criticized and analyzed with cold accuracy. So long as the leaf Pokemon didn't make a mistake, the boy seemed happy enough, if you could call it that. Even now, as the wind whipped his clothing and hair, his eyes never left the battle unless he was looking over at Trixie with a smug smirk. "I thought I asked you for your best. This is pathetic. Chikorita, we'll put this pathetic excuse for a Pokemon out of it's misery."
Trixie had ordered a tackle, but the boy was determined to do it better. "Tackle? Fine - Chikorita, tackle as well. Meet it halfway, and you better be standing by the time the attack is over. Don't let this creature get the better of you. We've trained far too hard to let something as ridiculous as this trainer get in our way." His cold words sent a shudder through the grass Pokemon, the nod of acknowledgement more out of fear than loyalty to the trainer. The words from the Pokemon had definitely been tough, ready to truly stomp Wurmple into the ground, but perhaps it was more out of necessity rather than friendly battles like the worm might've been expecting. They were new to battling with a trainer, only having just been caught. Was this truly how it was with everyone?
Chikorita lowered its head and slammed into the charging Wurmple, sending the bug Pokemon cascading backwards after a few rolls. The wind assisted the bug back onto its many feet, but Chikorita still stood. The boy's cold, calculating glance never wavered. "You didn't flinch this time, Chikorita. I guess it's an improvement. I won't have anyone saying Silver doesn't know how to train his Pokemon. Heh - not like it matters for some wimp like you knowing my name. I'll collect my winnings soon and be out of here. I have other places to be rather than wasting my time here with the likes of you."

Trixie frowned. This battle was... not going the way she had hoped. It turned out that her Wurmple really was a big wuss after all, as much as he tried to talk himself up. Even now he was wriggling his way back onto his legs. Her attention snapped back to the boy, who was already bragging about how he was going to win, and it got her blood boiling. Why did he seem so angry at his Pokemon? Did he even like his Pokemon? When she had watched the boys battle back at home, they were always laughing and joking about it by the end, regardless of who won. That's what she thought Pokemon battles were supposed to be like; challenging, but fun. But it seemed like this boy only thought of Pokemon as tools for winning.
She wasn't about to lose to someone like that.
"Oberon, return!" The bug Pokemon let out a feeble squeak of protest before the light from his Pokeball sucked him inside. She retrieved a second Pokeball and lobbed it high in the air, whereupon it burst open in a brilliant flash of light.
What emerged from the light was too predictable to be called unexpected, and yet insufficiently orderly to be described as trained. The light combined with the tailwind made it so Silver would never see it coming - at least until an angry red bird was inches away from his face. Robin repeatedly swooped and dived at the boy, screeching and attempting to get him with beak and talons alike. Trixie enjoyed Silver's reaction for a bit before she let out a sharp whistle that called the Pidgey back to her side.
"You said you wanted my best? Well now you've got it. Robin, blow that Chikorita off her feet with your Air Cutter!"

Silver laughed mockingly when Trixie recalled Oberon. "Giving up now? That would be clever of you if that weakling really was your best," he scoffed, his chikorita looked hopeful. Perhaps the battle was over now and she would get a rest? Of course it probably wouldn't last long as Silver had had her in several battles today already but in every single one of them, she couldn't wait for them to be over. Silver raised an eyebrow at the sight of Robin's strange colors, it turned to shock when the red pidgey chose to attack him and his mocking comment about her thinking Robin was better just because of his colors were all but forgotten. The redhead shouted incomprehensible as Robin dived straight at his head and got hold of him several times with both beak and claws. Silver's hand flailing's were random at start, but then he slapped Robin straight at the side of his head and sent him tumbling towards the ground. Silver pulled back a leg and looked to be ready to give him a good kick, when Trixie whistled and Robin retreated. Silver wiped some blood of his face and glared at Trixie. "You call that your best?" Silver spat hatefully, "being so weak you need to attack the other trainer instead of doing it the right way, you are worse than Team Rocket!"The redhead turned to glare at the chikorita who covered under his stare. "And where were you when your trainer got attacked! You were supposed to protecting me you wimp!" He snarled and she closed her eyes and pressed herself down in the grass as if she tried to get the ground to swallow her up. "Stop laying around you idiot! Get a move on and use Poison Powder, and you better not miss this time!" He snapped and Chikorita scrambled to get back up on her feet and frantically waved her leaf around releasing plenty of spores, which drifted in the direction of Robin. Silver looked like he tried to will Trixie to inhale some of the spores as well, but he didn't say anything as he certainly was better than Team Rocket! Robin moved forward and as he sent the cutting winds through the air, the spores whirled up and around him and he coughed as he inhaled some of them. The air cutters cut through Chikorita and she screamed in pain. "Stop that bawling and attack! Tackle!" Silver snapped and the grass type limped forward with tears in her eyes, stupid bird and his trainer they had made this so much worse, but she managed to pull through and slammed into Robin. Truthfully, Trixie hadn't expected Robin to mess up the other trainer quite that hard, but she couldn't help but snicker as she saw him flail around, at least until he hit Robin on the side. When the bird flew back to Trixie, she smoothed his feathers down and cooed at him softly. "Who's a good bird," she said in a whisper, seeing Silver wipe the blood off his face.
"What's that? I thought all was fair in love, war, and Pokemon battles," she said in response to Silver's comment about being like Team Rocket. Her friends had had run-ins with them before, and all she really registered was that they stole Pokemon and occasionally got into more trouble with the police than even the biker gangs did. Robin's Air Cutter hit home just as Chikorita whipped up a batch of Poison Powder, and thanks to the tailwind it blew right in the Pidgey's face. Trixie snarled under her breath as she managed to avoid the worst of the spores, thankfully. At least she wasn't a hypocrite when it came to dirty tactics.
She saw the Chikorita come in for a Tackle and... was it crying? Surely the tears couldn't have been from the powder, she had thought Grass-types were immune to that sort of stuff, and it's not as though Robin was crying either, though he was probably just a tough bird like that. "What's your deal, anyway?" she snapped at Silver. "Making your own Pokemon cry like that? Do you even like her, anyway?" She bent down to make eye contact with the Chikorita, who had just scored a clean hit against Robin. "You know, if you don't like this jerk, why not come along with me instead? I got Robin from the adoption center after all, and look how much better he's being treated with me."
The Pidgey had recovered from being knocked over, and Trixie whistled again, recalling him up to her arm and making a show of giving him a head pat that, as it turned out, was rather embarrassing for the self-styled bully bird. She looked back at Silver and Chikorita, seeing how they would react. If it turned out he would rather continue the battle, she would have Robin use Air Cutter again.
