Once she has resolved the matter with Mr. Pokemon -- who had informed her that the egg she was carrying was called a "Cacnea" -- Trixie set out with April to the next location on her itinerary, Violet City. Accompanying her was April, the turtle Pokemon out of her ball and actually seeming to have a good time splashing around in the puddles, but still never straying too far from her trainer.
Trixie hopped another ledge and extended an arm to help April over. The trainer felt the Squirtle cling tightly to her arm as she lifted her up and over. "What's the matter? I wouldn't let you fall. You know that."
"Squirt..." April gave her a weak smile as Trixie set her back down onto the ground. She had gotten pretty used to walking around outside of her Pokeball, even in the city, but out in the wilderness was a different matter. There were scary things aplenty: shadows under the trees, something lurking on the opposite side of a hill, or really anything that moved and was just out of sight. She looked at her reflection in another water puddle and took a swallow. Trixie was here, and she would protect her, right? She just had to trust that nothing bad would happen, just like back in town. And she wouldn't have to battle. Then everything would be okay, right?

Route 30 was usually rather well traversed route, especially the main road between Cherrygrove and Violet but today it was like no other. As soon as Cherrygrove was out of sight it almost got swamped by other trainers, but they weren't looking for a fight with Trixie or each other. Instead they were out hunting the many meditites which the flood had flushed out from the area around Azalea and now they were trying to make themselves home here. It was not going very well as the wild pokemon living in this area did not approve of this amount of strangers arriving and the trainers currently in the area was not going to miss this chance of getting a different pokemon than what they usually could find around here. Trixie would see several meditites around but they were all either currently battling other trainers or too far away for her to reach them before they had moved one. A big strong meditite finished off a trainer's rattata and another kid trainer stepped forward to release his pidgey and challenge it to another battle. The meditite looked like it enjoyed the easy matches, as more kids gathered around and hoped for a turn. A young woman was helping a little girl directing a zigzagoon and as Trixie watched they managed to capture the meditite they were battling and celebrated together. In between the trees Trixie would see a little group of meditites shouting at some weedles they had disturbed before they waded through a large puddle to find a better place to be. A determined looked man rushed past Trixie and accidently bumped into her on his way to a meditite which was sitting and meditating under a tree. "It's mine! And sorry!" The man called back to Trixie but didn't stop his running, he had a pokeball in his hand and clearly wanted to fight the pokemon he already claimed as his. It would continue as Trixe and April continued but they would be undisturbed as everyone else was busy today. They would run into some other kind of problems though as the road ahead turned out to be flooded and they would have to decide if they would try to go through it or around. A movement to the side of the road would catch their attention, it was yet another meditite and a bit smaller one of them. It was concentrating hard, opened its eyes determined and slammed its hand into the tree in front of it. It howled painfully and jumped around comically as it waved its hand around and blew on it. It glared at the tree and then glanced around to see if it could find something a bit softer to train on. A swarming meditite [lvl 5] is training its punches. Shiny: 3UE4OFSk1-421-42

Trixie certainly had not expected the traffic jam that she ran straight into a while later. Kids and grown ups alike were swarming the area. She could only stand stock still and blink in surprise, feeling April's hand clutch hers tighter, before she started to pick her way through the crowd.
There were lots of Pokemon battles going on and... they were all against the same Pokemon? One she had never seen before. In amidst the shouts and squeals of little kids, not to mention angry wild Pokemon, she finally made her way toward one that seemed to be meditating, so calm it was like it couldn't hear the crowds of people at all. She pulled out her Pokedex. "Meditite. The Medita--"
Her Pokedex was rudely smacked to the ground by a man who bumped into her. "Hey, watch it!" Trixie turned a snarl in the man's direction, but he was already hustling off toward the tree, calling a "Sorry" over his shoulder. She sighed and picked up the 'dex. Thankfully it was extraordinarily sturdy! "April, let's get a move on." Too late. Overwhelmed by the frantic action, the little turtle Pokemon had given up the ghost, withdrawing back into her shell.
Trixie sighed, scooped up the turtle Pokemon under her arm, and ran like a Unovan football player toward the edge of the crowd. Upon reaching it, however, a giant wall of water would block her way - the road was flooded! Just my luck, she thought. The few other trainers there seemed to have reached a consensus to give up and turn around, leaving Trixie alone.
Until a movement at the side of the road caught her attention.
It was a Meditite, practicing punches against the side of a tree. "April, you can come out now," Trixie said, setting the Squirtle down at the edge of the flooded area as she strode forward to challenge the Meditite. April dared to stick her head out, but only just. Trixie knew her starter still wasn't in any condition to battle, but she had a plan. Hopefully watching one of her fellow team members would encourage her to give it a shot, too!
She looked through her Pokeballs for a bit before deciding on Meavi, the Scatterbug appearing in a flash of light. "Let's go, Meavi! Try and hit the Meditite with your Tackle attack!" The ground squelched as the worm Pokemon hustled over the grass, then tried to smack the Meditite with her whole body.

Meditite paused when it saw Trixie approaching and then looked her up and down as if assessing if she would be useful as training dummy. She definitely looked softer than the tree but she was a bit tall and her legs were thin and would be hard to hit if she didn't stand still. The squirtle behind her it didn't notice at all since he remained still and he kind of just looked like a blue rock to it. The fighting type's face lit up when Maevi appeared in a flash, now we're talking! This would be perfect! Not so big, easy to hit and soft so it wasn't so hard for its hands. A perfect punching bag for a beginer like itself. It looked confident at the scatterbug and gestured for her to attack, which she didn't needed as Trixie had already given the orders there. The meditite readied a fist and swung it as Maevi got close, only to miss her and get thrown to the ground by the tackle. The fighting type pushed itself up on its elbow to look frowningly at the bug, this wasn't going as plan, it had to do something to be better at hitting. It got up and sitting, crossed its legs and raised its arms, and then it just sat there with closed eyes. Was it meditating in the middle of the battle? A solid hit! But not too hard, as it seemed that the Meditite was able to just get back up onto its feet. It shot a look at Meavi, who took a step backward but stood her ground. She had to do this! For the respect of her trainer! She stiffened her body, bracing for an attack, but it never came. Instead the Meditite assumed a cross-legged position and closed its eyes.
"What are you doing?" Trixie shouted. "I thought this was a battle!" But the Meditite remained unmoving, and when Trixie looked more closely, she was reminded of the TM04 Calm Mind in her bag - it did look similar to some of the yoga poses that the DVD reminded her of. So it was pumping itself up for the battle to come? Well, she wouldn't let it. Not if she ended it right away.
"Meavi, hit it with another Tackle!" The Scatterbug was nervous about hitting what looked like a defenseless opponent. But -- and she tried to pump up her spirits too -- maybe it was just bluffing, and she would win after all! She threw herself into another lunge, trying to believe her trainer knew what she was doing.

WILD ENCOUNTER ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The flood hadn't really been fun for anyone. The whole thing was something most of the wild Pokemon had been waiting for to be over. The Meditite however, seemed to be enjoying the welcomed distraction of the battle that had come its way. It sat there meditating quietly as it waited for Meavi's next move. The Scatterbug couldn't quite make out what it was doing, but she figured it was better to follow Trixie's command.
And so, when another tackle was ordered, that was just what was delivered. The squelch of the mud got easier to ignore as she waded through it, getting faster until she collided with the Meditite head on. The meditite Fell backwards into the mud, but it was almost like it floated back into it's zenned out position. Maevi just couldn't figure this Pokemon out. With a gentle sigh, she waited to see what the other Pokemon would do.
And...the answer was nothing. Well, that's what it looked like anyway. The Pokemon sat there, totally calm. But soon Trixie would be able to see a small amount of energy radiating from it. It seemed ready to absorb the next attack or so, and if it did well, maybe it would be dangerous for Maevi if they couldn't dispatch of it quickly.-------------

As much as Meavi couldn't figure out the foe Pokemon, neither could her trainer either. Both girls just stared as the Meditite raised itself back into its sitting position, though this time it raised its arms back into position just a bit slower. Was it a trick of the light, or... was Trixie seeing flickers of glowing aura around its body? Sure it had to be doing something. It wasn't like a wild Pokemon to ask for a battle, and then just sit there and never attack!
She checked her Pokedex again. Of course, a Psychic-type! That had to explain everything. If it was sitting still now, it was only to trick her so it could attack when her guard was down. "Meavi, try a Stun Spore attack," Trixie said. At least if it was paralyzed she would have a good reason to explain why it was sitting so still. The bug Pokemon waved her head around, trying to shake golden dust off her body and toward the baffling opponent.

The meditite concentrated hard, but not so hard it wasn't able to keep an eye on its opponents and it smiled at their surprised expressions. This was going to be good, just a bit more and it knew its opponents every move and then it could hit back full force. It was the perfect training for its punching and soon it wouldn't need to meditate before being able to concentrate enough gather the courage to hit something that potential would hurt like the tree.It exhaled and closed its eyes, bracing for another attack from Maevi, just like it had been taught from home: when it was fully able to use its mental abilities it would be able to punch holes in trees! Maevi had a nice an easy battle, she hadn't even been hurt once! She shook her head and released the spores stuck on her side, which slowly spread in all direction as there was little to no wind to carry it. It reached the meditite which was oblivious to it and it wiggled its nose as the spores tickled it there. It sneezed and momentarily forgot its meditation as it rubbed its itchy nose but it was quick to resume it s former position. It hadn't even realized that it had been attacked by the spores and that they could take effect any moment now. Trixie grinned as the spores slowly drifted over toward the motionless Meditite - until it reached over to rub its itchy nose! That was it, the break she had been waiting for! Of course, it would have been truly shocking if the spores had managed to miss a Pokemon just sitting still like that. She immediately dug through her backpack for a Pokeball, and threw it at the Fighting-type, fingers crossed that it wouldn't suddenly find the strength to dodge aside, or break out. Meavi waited with anticipation as well as the ball sailed through the air. She hoped Trixie would recognize she had done a good job. Trainer and Pokemon alike hoped...

The meditite couldn't be calmer, it felt the power build up inside it and it knew that in just a moment its punch it would deliver, would be powerful and precise and just as it should be. It had trained hard and knew how to hit right, it had watched flock closely after all, and it just needed the strength behind it, which it felt it was getting now. It exhaled and a smile spread across its face, its opponent didn't know what was coming. It couldn't wait to see their faces. The meditite never saw the pokeball coming at it, it hadn't crossed its mind that it was a thing which could happen. A capture would disrupt the training and nobody wanted to do that, right? Trixie's throw couldn't have been better, it hit the meditating pokemon right on and sucked it in quickly. The pokeball wiggled roughly as the shocked and confused meditite fought hard but it was to no avail. The pokeball finally clicked shut and confirmed the capture with a loud ding, which made a couple of trainers nearby turn to see who had been lucky and get their hands on one of the swarming pokemon. Maevi battled without getting a scratch! She grows +2 levels to [lvl 10]! But what is this? She is trying to evolve into a Spewpa! I... did it? "I did it!" Trixie whooped and ran over to the Pokeball, which now lay still on the ground. She picked it up and struck a pose, holding the Pokeball in one hand and making a V sign with the other like she sometimes saw on TV. "I caught myself a Meditite!" "Bug!" Meavi cheered along with her. Then her Scatterbug started to glow. Trixie watched, with more curiosity than astonishment this time, as Meavi changed shape, from a caterpillar to... what seemed to be most of a cocoon, but with a caterpillar's head poking out the top. Her Pokedex confirmed it as a Spewpa. "Nice job, Meavi! You evolved too!" She knelt down next to her and took a quick selfie for the Pokedex photo log. She would do one with the Meditite as well, which she had decided to name Taichi, but she would let him rest in the PC for the time being. The crowd, having seen what they came for, slowly dispersed, and Trixie recalled Meavi to her Pokeball for a good rest (and because it probably would have been slow going waiting for the bug to walk after her, having lost most of her legs). Then she and April continued on toward Violet City. [words=211] to Cacnea egg Trixie would like Meavi to evolve into Spewpa and learn Protect!

While the small crowd of other trainers turned away after having seen yet another meditite being caught, in the hope of being as lucky themselves, the meditites weren't going anywhere anytime soon. Or rather, they were going all over the place and the battles continued as before around Trixie although it probably wouldn't affect her much. There still was the flooded road to figure out but the narrator guesses she chose to go around it, instead of wading through which would be the easiest choice. And the most pleasant when you aren't a water type like April. The water turned out to stretch quite a bit and Trixie had to venture far into the forest in the hope of getting around it, and it quickly grew dense and wild. It clearly wasn't a place a gardener had come across but it was perfect for wild pokemon, except that most of it was flooded. There would be some paths, but all of them lead into the water, which Trixie could follow by tramping throuhg the undergrowth. Even here she saw the occasionally meditite but they probably didn't have the same interest as before. One was sitting and meditating under a tree, while another was swinging from a branch like a mankey. A third a few minutes later was stumbling around like a drunk and the fourth Trixie saw a bit later was screaming at its own hand, which hit itself in the face from time to time. Suddenly it stopped and looked confused at its hand and then around, before moving alone deeper into the wild looking confused and rubbing its sore cheek. The water seemed to thin and Trixie would be able to see grass tufts poking up above the surface, she could easily wade through here, and perhaps even be lucky to get relatively dry footed over. The other side of the water she was met with the sound of something getting punched, and of course it was yet another meditite who was training against a small tree. Those pokemon were just everywhere! Perhaps the chances of finding one with different coloration was bigger too? Simply because of the sheer numbers which was around. A white pokemon with a green "hat" stepped into the clearing and saw the meditite, which paused its training to look back at it. They eyed each other for a moment and then the ralts' eyes glowed making the meditite look really confused, then the fighting type hopped over to the water and began splashing around, looking a bit like a bird taking a bath. The ralts watched it expressionlessly. Ralts [lvl 6] is confusing meditites for one reason or another. Shiny: hrIbEhfC1-42(ooc: words added to egg) 1-42

The water didn't seem to let up, as Trixie stepped around the flooded road only to find herself in an equally damp forest. The grass squelched under her feet as she walked. Thanks to the brand-new running shoes she had gotten from Guide Gent, she didn't feel the dampness permeate through to her feet, but damn if those weren't some nice running shoes getting ruined. Oh well. "Worn" was an aesthetic she could rock. In the meantime, April seemed positively giddy, seeming like she was completely in her element. What would have been nice was if April stopped alerting Trixie to every single Meditite that she came across. A sitting one, a climbing one, a walking one... the first one that really caught her attention was the one smacking itself in the face over and over. Good thing the one she had caught wasn't as masochistic as all that. As Trixie walked up a slope the clearing she arrived in seemed to be drier than the rest. She planted herself firmly on a few tufts of grass that had escaped the worst of the flooding, and tried to shake the water out of her shoes. Then there was the sound of a tree getting slapped, and yet another Meditite, though accompanying it was a Pokemon she'd recognize anywhere. A Ralts. One of those damned Fairy-types from the contests that her parents were obsessed over. They had started in Hoenn, she recalled, but then spread rapidly to other regions. But what was it doing now? It stood in place, observing as Trixie was, until the Meditite stopped and turned in its direction. Then, in the subtlest of motions, it tilted its head up so it could make eye contact with the Meditite from under its "hat." The Meditite glowed eerily, then ran into the nearest puddle and started splashing around. Seemed this Ralts had a bit of a prankster inside of it. She flashed back to the Meditite who was fighting itself. And the one before that, which had been stumbling around in circles. Perhaps this Pokemon was also worth catching. "April, if you would?" The Squirtle looked up at her nervously. "Don't think of it as a battle. Think of it as just playing. Having a good time, playing in the water!" She pointed toward the Meditite, which had taken up some kind of variation on the breaststroke. This seemed to be enough to convince April. She nodded gamely and called out to the Ralts, waving as she came closer. Then, on Trixie's signal, she sent a spray of water out of her mouth toward the Ralts. As the meditite splashed around in the puddle the ralts turned to walk away, ready to disappear and be the hard to find pokemon it always was. Trixie's voice caught its attention and it half turned to see the trainer and her pokemon, which made it turn fully to face them and watch what they were doing. It noticed the squirtle's reluctance but made no signs of what it thought of it, her call out to it made it give a nod in return as recognition. "Why the change of heart? What's different?" It asked innocently, either just not understanding why April didn't seem so reluctant anymore, or trying to make her unsure if this was a game or her dreaded battles. The first answer it got was a spray of water and it ducked its head to keep its face free from it and staggered back from the force. It tilted its head backwards so its eyes were visible again and they began to glow as it activated its psychic ability. April's world became blurry and all the trees seemed to shake and move without moving, but the ralts couldn't find anything to latch on to and get the confusion to last like with the meditites so it soon cleared up again and the world turned normal. A little huff came from the ralts. April could hear Trixie gasp behind her as she let out a cry of pain. This wasn't a game! That attack had really hurt! She pressed both hands against her temples, trying to calm down the massive headache that had formed as the Ralts struck a weak spot in her defenses. It wasn't supposed to be like this! She was done!
Trixie frowned as April turned back to her with a quavering lip, the turtle Pokemon slowly shaking her head. "Are... you sure?" Her response was April tucking in her arms and legs, leaving only her head and tail out, and both were shaking hell no. "Well... If you insist. Return, April." She couldn't help but be disappointed. At least April had given it a try. But she still had a Ralts to catch.
"Oberon, it's your turn!" From the next Pokeball emerged her Silcoon, which wasted no time before attempting to trade taunts with the opponent, though of course Trixie couldn't understand its actual words. "Let's go! Lay into it with your Poison Sting!" The cocoon Pokemon was not fast, but he was inexorable. Undeterred by whatever the Ralts threw at him, Oberon reached out a spindly leg and tried to inject some poison into the foe.
