What is my focus? Who do I want to be? Is anything I write\say worth while?

For those who have played Gen 3\4\6, there were contests in them for coordinators. I know there is at least one or two current profiles which are coordinators or has it in their history. Contests have been tried before on here to very limited success from what I've seen in old postings. My desire is to resurrect\create new version on here. Contests have also been a huge part of the anime for several season again covering the same time frame\setting as the games. It is possible some ideas will be merged from all sources. The thing I want from YOU is your opinion on which way to go with it.
You have until end of month for voting. You can have two votes.

I'm most familiar with Gen 3 contests and I believe I tried Gen 4 contest once and didn't really like it. My favorite part was having to work together with the NPCs to create the blocks that enhanced the Pokemon and influenced the contests and how you almost couldn't win without making blocks and feeding them before a contest of I were to list why.

I have never used the contests in the games, never caught my attention nor did I get how to do it.
As I see it there is two ways to go, either do it as in the games which how the moves gives stars and bonuses and then let the rp part be more fluff. Not sure how the beauty worked either but it can be done as in the games of course.
The other is doing it more escapade style, with it being the creativity and the description which earns the rewards, could give some criteria for what the goal is to make it easier, but of course it will be much more opinionated the voting. Personally I'd like this one, since it is the beauty and creativity from the anime which I like, not sure how beauty and puffins and such should work, other than giving an extra bonus?
Perhaps it could be made into two rounds as in the anime? One more creative where you just try to show off and then a battle part where the tactics from the games and beauty is the main focus?

I'm all for having some of the scoring be based on how participants are writing, but y'all should remember contests are generally multiplayer ;) So if there isn't at least some unbiased judging system there could end up with some obvious lopsidedness when it comes to writing skill level.
Unless of course we modify 'winners' of contests so it's possible for everyone to win. That's part of why Escapades can work as complete wishy-washy judging. Your writing partners only help get a higher score, versus contests which is a competition.

I thought I would offer my two cents on a way I saw it done in the past, but it could be adjusted for here.
A long while ago a pokemon forum rp I was apart of did contests. It was done in more of an anime style and the idea was to encourage creativity.
Each contest will have a bracket system. The judges will be staff members who are not competing. (for obvious reasons)
The first round stars off with a performance with the coordinator and two of their pokemon. The idea is to use the pokemon's moves creatively, typically timed with music of some sort, to show off their pokemon. Getting dressed up is optional. This can be done with either one large post for the performance where they detail what they are doing and how. There could be a word limit, which just means be creative but keep to the important details. How the flowers smell probably isn't the most important thing. Each coordinator can do this post in a single thread. The judges will award points based off of creative use of the pokemon, originality, and over all enjoyment. So yes, personal opinion will be a factor but honestly I think it's just a fun way to let each judge's personality shine!
Those who score the best will move on to the next bracket, where there will need to be an even number of contestants. Those who don't will get a consolation prize and enter the audience.
The next round will be a double battle between coordinators where they use either the same two pokemon, or different pokemon in a double battle. Similar to the anime the goal is to not only win, but win with style! So it won't have game mechanics per-say, except maybe for damage. I am not sure the best way to calculate it since moves need to be utilized in ways you wouldn't normally thing for flair and enjoyment. The goal is to be creative and remember you are putting on a performance. So it's not like a gym battle.
They will be judged more on creativity than just winning and losing. These can be done in individual threads for the battlers and the judges. The judge can call off the fight if there is a clear winner point wise, or let it continue.
The battles will move in brackets until there are only two left. Then it can either be a final battle or go straight to a performance show off where all the points are tallied.
I know the hardest part is how points are calculated and applied, but since since gym battles use the game mechanics and are there for the typical experience, I think this is a great way to let those who are creative with their rp and just want to think of interesting ways to use moves shine! It will be geared towards those who can do this, so it may not be for everyone, which is okay! Contests could be held every few months, since they would be a pretty big endeavor.
