They would escape the clutches of the oh so deadly and oh so dangerous Cascoon with little more than a protest by the largely immovable bug Pokemon. However, another Pokemon would challenge them - spitting out silky strings and all - as it jumped out and stood nearly immovable and in their way. Something about the gleam in its eyes said 'I need to battle'. 1-42

Morfeus popped out exactly where Lei had planned him to and she held a Sport Ball ready in her hand, to throw at anything that appeared from the bush. It raved out but quickly stopped to spin around and face the sleeping komala with fire in its eyes, Lei would have been thrilled if it had been anything other than that.
"A.. sewa.. something?" she said hesitantly and found her pokedex to scan it, and pouted disappointed.
"Already have one of those, darn it," she mumbled to herself and looked around in the dense undergrowth to see if there was anything else hiding in here which she could challenge, ignoring the eager sewaddle close by.
It tentatively tried to attack Morfeus a few times but as he didn't react it hesitated and Lei didn't order him to do anything, much more interested in what else she could find, time was running out after all.

The bell sounded and Lei's shoulder's slumped but she recalled her komala and turned her back to the eager sewaddle without sparing it a second glance. She strode along the path and watched the other participants return as well, trying to read their faces to guess how the competition would be. Had they gotten anything good?
Lei kept her own expression guarded as she fiddled with the pokeball containing the venipede, it was a pretty good contestant for the competition, but was it enough?
