The temperate weather that Tristan was greeted with the morning after his gym battle with Falkner was very much indicative of the mood the blonde haired teenage male was in. While it had been a one sided battle in Tristan's favor, the young man felt proud of who he was and what he represented after the display that had been put on in his first official gym battle within the Johto region.
Tristan's current team of pokemon now sat at six after acquiring a Poliwag known as Atlanna through an online purchase from a young man known as Max. Feeling no stress what so ever, Tristan had set out along Route 32 directly south of Violet City. Route 32 was renowned for being filled with trainers looking for battles, Tristan however had made his mind up and wanted to do a spot of fishing at the nearby jetty along the route and relax the day away.
As Tristan arrived on the fishing jetty he noticed a few others already doing some fishing and the blonde haired boy gave a simple nod as he passed each person, he refused the temptation to ask them if they were having any luck in bringing any water type pokemon abroad. Tristan retrieved the compartments that would be put together to make the old rod he had purchased from the Violet City Pokemart as he cast the line into the water and patiently awaited any potential bites.

The weather was really nice despite the time of the year, most fishers knew that it was probably the last good day to go fishing so the Jetty was full of them. Reeling in magikarp after magikarp and fighting a few of them but often also just let them go again. It was the thrill of the hunt which draw the fishers down here, not having an army of magikarps to flop around you. Someone pulled in a poliwag and a few cheers and congratulations was heard, followed by a battle and a catch of said pokemon. Then peace fell over the jetty again, only disturbed by the occasional splash when someone had reeled their lure back in, and threw it out again to try tempt some more pokemon. Tristan had chosen a good place, it was calm and near some rocks which could hide some pokemon and shelter others. He'd see several ripples in the water, and his lure would bop a little occasionally as things under the surface investigated what it was he offered, but nothing seemed to bite. A yellow faint flash was seen in the water further out and was followed by a lot of ripples and splashes as the shallow sea became alive with magikarps. Several exclamations was heard along the beach from the other fishers. Then something brushed Tristan's hook and it got a sharp pull as the one biting tried to take it with it out back into the sea. It would be a hard fight and Tristan would feel his arms tingle as if tickled, which was odd. Finally, with a mighty heave he surprised it had pulled it out of the sea, it was a chinchou! It landed on the ground with a thump and wriggled annoyed with sparks jumping between its antennaes, it tried to get back into the water. Chinchou [LV 9] is not pleased of being reeled in. (ooc: assuming it is daytime, Rod level increased by 1. (What luck! You had 24% chance of failing, I rolled 45)) Shiny: i0huavcJ1-421-42

Tristan was fairly surprised to see so many fishermen and fisherwomen taking full advantage of the weather that was treating them on the jetty. Amongst the water type pokemon bought landside were Magikarp, Magikarp, oh and yes you guessed it, more Magikarp. The helpless fish pokemon was fairly commonplace along these waters and in turn were often caught and released or used as a training dummy. A smile was fixated over Tristan's face as he enjoyed watching events unfold around him, they were nothing short of entertaining to say the very least.
There was a distinct lull in activity on the jetty as a quiet hush filled the area, that was of course until Tristan's fishing experience drew the attention of those around him. A yellow faint flash could be seen lurking under the depths of the water keeping a close view on the bait that was hooked onto Tristan's fishing line. The mysterious creature eventually took the bait and put up one hell of a tug of war for Tristan to manage before being pulled out of the sea, landing with a distinct thump on the ground. A collective breath of excitement arose from the fellow trainers nearby who were seemingly impressed by the appearance of the unique water type pokemon. Tristan placed his old rod down carefully on the jetty and reached for the red and white pokeball that contained Atlanna the Poliwag, his newest team member before he proceeded to release the water type pokemon from its resting place.
"Welcome to the show Atlanna! My young queen, lull that there Chinchou to sleep for me with your Hypnosis attack!"
Tristan had done his fair share of research not only into the pokemon available in the local jetty's waters but also the attacking arsenal that his newest team member possesses. Atlanna glanced around at her surroundings and appeared to be disinterested in everything that was going on, focusing solely on the task that her trainer had now just given to her she begun to prepare her status inflicting psychic type maneuver.

A joined gasp and a lot of whispering appeared when Tristan pulled out the chinchou, more than one stretched their necks to see if they could spot more in the water, or if the one Tristan had landed had been the single one. A couple of young fishers dropped their own fishing rods since they found it more interesting to go watch this battle, and couldn't concentrate on fishing anyway. "It is an electric type, isn't it?" A young girl asked her friends around her, and the other nodded their confimation. "Yeah, its probably good to get it out of the water, the other fish can't be liking it very much," a boy around her age said and they went quiet a bit as they watched. "He's brave for using a water type against it though, his own pokemon could easily get electrocuted," the boy then mentioned and the others gave their wholeheartedly agreements. "I wouldn't want one myself, I'd be too scared of getting shocked too, and I don't think it would be fair to the other fishes I pull up, if they don't stand a chance when I try battling them," a third boy said and got some mumbles as reaction. Didn't sound like all of them agreed with him on that part. A woman in her late forties came walking over and watched a bit before she stepped closer and addressed Tristan directly. "Excuse me, you don't mind if I butt in on this good fishing spot, right?" She asked him pointedly and looked at him intently. The chinchou didn't pay much attention to what was going on on the beach, it had been stranded before although by big waves and such, and it knew all it wanted was to get back into the water. It didn't show any interest in Tristan or Atlanna either as it made its way back towards the sea, it had its back to the poliwag when she sent her hypnotizing waves at it, and then it could easily swim over the sand and into the water. The ocean was as pretty as ever, and it even met kyogre who showed it wonders. In reality the chinchou was snoozing on the beach, the tip of the waves reaching it as they rolled up on the beach. Tristan was fairly surprised as he looked around to see multiple young trainers put a pause on their fishing ventures to watch him wage battle against the freshly landside Chinchou. The angler pokemon had certainly drawn the attention of the jetty, it wanted no part of it however as it attempted to ignore the noise and return to the calm depths of the water nearby. A woman in her late forties emerged from the crew that was standing nearby observing Tristan and his Poliwag waging battle against the wild Chinchou, the lady asked if Tristan would mind if she fished in fishing spot that the blonde haired male had just found success from, with a big smile on his face the humble young man responded,
"You absolutely can jump in on this spot, hopefully you catch something nice!"
While Tristan's focus seemed split between the battle beginning in front of him and the outside noise of fellow trainers on the jetty, Atlanna the Poliwag was completely disinterested in all the fuss that was going on around them and was solely focused on her opponent. The hypnotizing waves that emitted from the body of the tadpole pokemon well and truly hit the mark as the small blue bodied piscine pokemon was lulled to sleep.
"Well done Atlanna, now let's go to work! Hit our sleeping friend over there with your Mud Shot attack!"
Atlanna had been hoping for a fight, the tactic her trainer had employed entering the battle strategy wise was stripping her of an action filled battle, instead she was faced with a fish sleeping like a sardine in a can. Atlanna bellowed up large breath of air before firing a stream of dark brown mud from her mouth towards her sleeping adversary. Tristan retrieved an empty pokeball from his belt buckle and tossed it in the direction of the currently asleep Chinchou in hopes of capturing it.

The forty-something year old woman smiled brightly when Tristan offered her the spot. She pulled out her fishing pole and held it carefully in one hand. Then, she used her free hand to carefully pull out a jar of bait and twist off the top. Pulling out a small, wiggling worm, the forty-something year old would carefully press the hook through its squishy flesh and loop it around to so that it was firmly hooked onto the end of her rod. Then, she whipped it back and cast her net far out into the sacred fishing spot that had brought Tristan such luck. Within several minutes, something tugged on the end of the woman’s line, and she pulled up a small blue eel with white ‘ears’ and a small white jewel in the center of its head. “Hey, this spot is the best spot! Thanks again, I really owe you one!” She shouted, as she pulled out a Pokeball and called out a small, flopping Magikarp just before the long blue eel dived back into the waters and swam off. Oh well…better luck next time? The Chinchou slumped over on the jetty and snoozed peacefully. Inside of its dreams, the Pokemon was battling the Poliwag fiercely. It had released a powerful bolt of lightning that shot out from thick grey thunderclouds. The ends of the lightning bolts shaped themselves into large hands that reached down and smacked the small Poliwag back and forth. The Poliwag begged the Chinchou in its dreams to spare it. But it was far too late now! Haha! No, in its dreams, there was no chill factor for the ambitious Chinchou that slapped the other Pokemon around mercilessly to no end! “Beg to your mother,” The Chinchou declared, “Not to me!” It cackled wildly. In reality, though, the Poliwag had summoned large piles of muddy sand that it slung at its opponent. The moddy shots of wet sand managed to smack the sleeping Pokemon around, spinning the Pokemon this way and that. Because the thick piles of mud seemed to cling to every inch of the Chinchou, it would also slow the Pokemon down…if it were moving at all. Only its antennas seemed to twitch as it snoozed away. When Tristan tossed the Pokeball at the wild Chinchou, it would zap the Pokemon up easily inside of the device. After three strong wiggles on the ground, the ball would ding with success. Surely, the Chinchou would realize what happened when it woke up…right? Right? SUCCESS!!

The forty year old woman was making Tristan look like some sort of genius for simply picking a fishing spot, taking credit for such a thing was not something the blonde haired male was prepared to do, he did however nearly let out a chuckle as the newly landbound Chinchou she had just caught returned to the solace of its watery home. Instead Tristan decided that keeping the whole situation light-hearted and joke like in nature would be the best approach,
"Just remember, there's always more fish in the sea!"
Tristan returned his attention back to the scene at hand, calling it as such was rich in vein given the angler pokemon was fast asleep in the midst of a battle, not by its own choice of course. Atlanna's Mud Shot attack had left the slumbering dual typed pokemon covered in layers of thick mud, if the wild Chinchou were awake it surely would be working tirelessly to remove the thick piles of mud that seemed to stick to its body. Never one to miss a prime opportunity that presented itself to him, Tristan's pokeball toss hit the mark and after a few moments of nervous tension waiting for the result of the capture attempt, the blonde haired boy was delighted by the fact that he had been successful in capturing the angler pokemon.
"Well done Atlanna, nice execution!"
Atlanna shrugged off her trainers praise, her mind was clearly set on continuing to battle, however with no immediate signs of an opponent she appeared to be out of luck. Tristan swiftly returned the tadpole pokemon into her pokeball to rest for the time being as he then ventured across the jetty and retrieved the red and white pokeball that now housed his freshly captured Chinchou. Tristan disassembled his old fishing rod and placed it into his backpack alongside the pokeball containing his new Chinchou and then set off the end of the jetty and made tracks towards a dark looking cave that appeared to separate the route from the city that lie on the other side.

The bright yellow ball of gas burned brightly in the open summer skies. It caused temperatures to soar past the high 30 Celsius to just touch the edge of the lower 40s. Many of the Pokemon that would have normally hidden from the reaches of the trainers that stomped their way through the open terrain crawled out from the tall grasses. Most of them pressed their bodies to the ground below as they crawled towards the bright oceanside of the receding tidelines. The small carnivorous plants with their large, bulbous yellow heads and bright green leaves looked like they were shriveling away and wilt as they tried to crawl towards the cooler waters. Their usually large, bright green elliptical leaves were singed along their edges with a crusty, brown touch. “Belll….!” They cried, though their voices would drown away as the blonde haired trainer pressed his way into the cave’s opening. Another sound would immediately greet him. The shape of the cave helped to block the worse of the sun’s way, easing the heatwave off so that it could just be bearable. Each time the wind shifted in the right direction, a gust of it would billow in through the opening, helping to keep the area cooler, as well. Though, a small carving near the opening where water normally pooled was completely dried up. Another Pokemon that looked like a large rock with two large hands hopped about inside of the cave. Many of the travelers were hiding behind large boulders with their backs pressed against them as they crouched low. The Rock Pokemon picked up medium-sized rocks and tossed them around as it screamed angrily into the ‘void’ for seemingly no reason. “DUDE!” “GET LOST!”A small purple-haired girl with bright green eyes stared at Tristan with fear. She waved her hands and whistled to try to catch his attention. “PSST!” She motioned, “That Pokemon’s enraged. BE CAREFUL!” She tried to call out to the blonde-haired Water Type trainer. However, the Geodude would spin around as the sounds of the young girl’s voice caught it off guard. It immediately picked up a large slab that was nearly the size of a coffee table and lifted it over its head. The Geodude began bench pressing the rocky slab while aiming for the small girl. “GEODUDE GEO! GEODUDE DUDE, GEO DUDE GEO!” “LEAVE MY HOME! I’LL MAKE YOU LEAVE, IF YOU DON’T!” It growled as it tossed the rock at the small girl with no further warning. A Wild Geodude appeared! Level 9. What will Tristan do? Shiny? 2gPRgruK1-421-42

The day was sweltering hot, trainers and pokemon alike were searching for solace near water-bound fronts in hopes of cooling themselves down from the heat that radiated from the open summer skies above. Tristan was normally quite used to this type of weather, however unlike back home, the ocean wasn't literally a footstep away from his front doorstep this time around. Union Cave that lie ahead would surely serve as a stopgap measure to cool down from the heat while also continuing onwards towards Azalea Town.
Immediately upon entering the cave, Tristan noticed a large rock with two large hands hopping about in frustration inside the cave. A small purple-haired girl with bright green eyes was riddled with fear as she tried to gain Tristan's attention to warn him of the impending danger that the rock type pokemon presented. Tristan didn't have much time to think and grabbed a random pokeball from his belt and released the pokemon that was inside. Topaz the Lotad emerged from the beaming red light just in time and acted promptly by releasing a spiral of clear blue water from his mouth that intercepted the large rocky slab that the enraged Geodude had just tossed at the small purple-haired girl, the water type attack had just enough power to knock the rocky slab off it's original course as it flew into the side of the cave and shook the caverns foundations. Tristan shook his head in disbelief, this Geodude had damn near killed a young girl without an inkling of reasonable thought travelling through its mind. Tristan surveyed the area and noticed numerous travelers crouched down behind large boulders with their backs pressed against them in hopes of avoiding the rocky tyrant that was blocking the path ahead,
"If rocky over here can't cool down I guess we'll have to help him then. Topaz, use Water Gun to splash some sense into it"
The normally stubborn Topaz had made his mind up, this Geodude was a downright buffoon, regardless of the fact that he was only trying to protect his turf, the way he was going about it was completely wrong, and Topaz wasn't going to have a bar of it. Much like the lilly-pad had done moments ago, he released a spiral of clear blue water towards his new rock type adversary, if the attack were to hit directly it would surely at the very least snap a sense of reality into the rock type pokemon.

The small girl screamed and immediately ducked back behind her rock. Another of the travelers that had been crouching down behind the rock grabbed her and put their hand gently over her mouth as they tried to pull her out of the way of the giant slab of rock. However, the slab would prove to be too large and expansive in size and covered a good chunk of the hiding places of all the people that lay cowering behind the large stalagmite formations. When Tristan’s Pokemon shot the slab out of the way, causing it to slam against the side of the cave and shatter into many smaller pieces, they all sighed a huge breath of relieve. Though, none were brave enough to move while the Pokemon was still on a rampage. The Geodude swung wildly around with angry eyes as it immediately felt around on the ground for more weapons. It gathered a bunch of medium-sized rocks and small pebbles in each hand and began to toss them in Tristan’s direction to shower rocks down upon the trainer and his Lotad. Topaz was quick, however, and managed to knock each rocky piece away with his powerful blast of water. Then, he washed the hotheaded rock off with a powerful blast of his Water Gun. The water managed to fully coat the Rock-and-Ground Type Pokemon fully and drained all of its health away. It cried loudly, before collapsing into a heap on the ground. The scared travelers would slowly walk out from behind the large stalagmites one by one. They would each extend their hand to shake Tristans as they thanked him, with some opening their arms out wide at their sides and gesturing the lad to allow them to give him a hug. “Thank you so much for saving us!” One of the travelers declared with a loud and happy voice. “Apparently, that Geodude was abandoned by its trainer and decided its hated humans after that. Every time someone’s wandered into the cave, it’s chased them out! We were all surrounded and trapped by behind those large rocks over there!” The traveler continued, explaining everything to Tristan in due time. “It wouldn’t let us even leave when we tried to! Just kept throwing rocks and boulders at us, trying to crush us under it!” The Geodude hopped over to the group on its hands looking very sad. It stared up at Tristan with watery eyes as it spoke. “Geodude geo. Dude Geo dude Geo. Geodude dude Geodude geo, Geodude Geodude dude. Geo geo…dude?“ “I’m sorry for the trouble I’ve caused. I just wanted to defend my new home. My old trainer was really cruel to me, and I didn’t want a new trainer that would be even worse. I just want a home of my own…ya know?” It’s eyes welled up with tears as it explained itself to Tristan. The looks of pure unadulterated fear that was etched over the little girls face as well as the rest of the travelers stranded in the cave was more than enough of a motive for Tristan to spring into action. Topaz's powerful blasts of water were shot from his mouth in an eerily similar manner to that of a gun, instead of being used for harm however they were instead used to deflect the oncoming rocks and pebbles that had been thrown in the direction of the lilly-pad pokemon and his trainer. The hot-headed Geodude's reign of terror was soon over as Topaz's powerful Water Gun attack coated the boulder like pokemon in a watery sheath that lead to it collapsing into a heap on the surface below.
"Well done Topaz, you really saved the day buddy!"
The travelers slowly emerged from their hiding places and were so thankful to Tristan and Topaz for helping them escape the unfortunate situation they had found themselves in. Tristan smiled and shook hands with the travelers that wanted that route of thanks, he also was happy enough to hug those that were feeling that was the appropriate way to show their thanks. One of the travelers shared the apparent story relating to the wildly out of control Geodude, Tristan couldn't seem to get past the fact that a trainer had abandoned a pokemon, that went against everything within the blonde haired boy's moral compass.
The wild Geodude had recovered from fainting and hopped over to the group using its hands. The way that the rock-and-ground type pokemon stared up at Tristan with watery eyes was a look of pure pain and sorrow as it tried to explain itself to Tristan. The blonde haired boy smiled down towards the Geodude and extended his hand as if to shake that of the boulder pokemon, he may not be able to understand his language, body language however was another means of communication that Tristan felt would be the best way to get his return message across,
"I'm not the right trainer for you my friend, but enjoy the freedom of the wild and hopefully one day a trainer who deserves you will make you part of their family"
The travelers that surrounded Tristan looked rather perplexed as to how Tristan had handled the entire situation, holding bad blood just wasn't in the young mans nature and forgiveness was something he was more than willing to give out, everyone deserves a second chance after all. One of the travelers amongst the pack asked Tristan what his movements were and why he had been travelling through the cavern in the first place,
"I'm off to challenge Bugsy at the Azalea gym!"
A look of concern was painted all over one of the travelers face, the confidence had been sapped from her face at the mention of Bugsy, her body language indicated that she clearly wasn't so confident that Tristan could get the job done against the bug type specialist, little did she know that Tristan had a couple of tricks up his sleeve for the impending challenge,
"Safe travels to you all, wishing you nothing but good luck for the roads that lie ahead"
Tristan returned Topaz back into his pokeball and set off for the end of the cavern that lie ahead, Azalea Town wasn't very far away now and lying in wait was his next great challenge in his young prosperous journey.
