(team: Janus, Ella, Yakul, Pia, Rita, Silvia. Route 35, day)
Astrid breathed in the clean, chilly air on route 35, it was impressive the difference the smell (and taste) of the air inside Goldenrod compared to outside like here. Out here it was, richer somehow, it smelled clean in the good way. Right now it was chilly and humid as a cold fog drifted through the area. Yakul snorted and shook her head.
Astrid had taken a few days to relax and lay a plan after her victory over Whitney, and to come to terms with the gym leader's not so professional reaction to losing. She had went to her superior who had demanded she had taken this test and showed him she had gotten the badge. He had been pleased but surprised she hadn't seem happy about it and she had aired her concerns about Whitney's behavior. To her surprise Nedergaard already knew but they had deemed than other than humiliating herself she did no harm, she was popular otherwise and they thought it was good that she challenged people's view on the more girly pokemon. Even if she confirmed prejudices about girly trainers, hopefully she'd learn in time. For now she did way more good than bad and there had been a quite big increase in young girls who wanted to become trainers and dared take on the pokemon league. Astrid could see the thoughts about that and had accepted it, but it eased her to know some authorities at least was aware of it and kept and eye on Whitney.
Another thing Astrid had spent a bit of time on, was to try figure out how to come in contact with the illusive Lance, it wasn't like he'd just fly past on his dragonite. She had promised to train Silvia for Lei since the renowned dragon trainer apparently was looking for one. One thing was to train a horsea and evolve it, but it wouldn't help much if she couldn't get in contact with the trainer. It was obvious that he would visit Dragon Cave once in a while but it was far away and they did not let whoever enter, better find him somewhere else. The next clue she got was that there were rumors that he had been seen in Ecruteak, investigating the burned out tower, and if nothing else perhaps the gym leader would know about his whereabouts, or knew someone who did. Astrid wasn't keen on going back to ask Whitney and she doubted the gym leader would ever see her again.
"So much for the promised second battle and sharing of tricks," Astrid commented to herself before turning her mind to the present. "Alright Yakul, time to get to Ecruteak City. We will go straight and hopefully there will not be too many delays," she said optimistically and urged the skiddo forward. Yakul set into a trot and off they were.

A dense white fog clung on the air of the open route, obscuring the small ledges that led their ways up and down the steep cliffs that led to and away from Goldenrod. Trainers were known to traverse the open routes during normal weather conditions, though whether the fog hid them or scared them off, it was next to impossible to see any other trainers wandering around the open area. A small lake jutted out from the left close to where the route linked up with Goldenrod city, causing a bend around its base and shaping a natural ‘s’ pattern for the route. A strange, guttural sound echoed from deep inside of the route. It was a loud, half squealing and half trumpeting sound. Hooves quaked against the earthen ground, almost shaking it, and causing the browned grasses to buckle and sway from their weight. The wild Pokemon clawed at the ground and snorted warily as it began to pace back and forth on its unequal footing. It bellowed again, a sound that almost pleaded for help. It spoke of being lost – forgotten and so afraid – in this strange new world with the thick, dense fog surrounding it. As Astrid and her team wandered closer, the armored rhinoceros would raise itself up on its back legs awkwardly, to come crashing down instantly as it pounded its front feet against the ground. A warning. STAY AWAY! It stumbled a bit, backing up slowly until its rear end brushed up against the base of a tall pine tree. Then, the rhino would roar in a loud warring trumpet and begin charging forward at the top of its speed, heading straight towards Astrid with its horn pointed dangerously towards her. “LEAVE!” It growled loudly, trying to scare the older police officer off before it would have to force her to leave. A Swarming Rhyhorn appeared! Level 24. It's charging directly after Astrid!! What will she do?? Shiny Check: MPbGkoZ11-421-42

They made good progress through the route, the fog hid the most scenery but probably also shielded them for unfriendly eyes which could wish to remove them. The road was well paved and easy to follow even in a dense fog like this one, and the few shadows which emerged on it ended up being other travelers who greeted her politely and relieved before they parted ways again. "This is going great, we will be there in a few hours if it continues like this," Astrid said happily, which would not be a surprise since a lot of travelers got undisturbed between the cities as long as they stayed on the roads. There was a reason the saying said to stay away from the long grass, clearly meaning the wilderness and the unknown rather than the uncut grass which surrounded the road. The road curved as it swung around the lake and the peace with just the sound of Yakul's hooves was broken. "Oh, I jinxed it," Astrid murmured to herself as a loud rumble from a throat was heard, and by the sound of stomping feet it was coming this way fast.
Yakul's head shot up and her nostrils flared. Astrid quickly grabbed her horn to remind her she was still on her back and the skiddo jerked forward and set into a full gallop in an attempt to outrun whatever had found them. A moment later it was clear it hadn't been chasing them, a huge grey bulk appeared ahead of them at the side of the road, and turned when they got closer. Yakul stopped abruptly but it was too late, and the rhyhorn bellowed a warning as it raised itself up on its hind legs before slamming down. Yakul backed up and Astrid's hand found a pokeball in her pocket, the rhyhorn wasn't having any of it and as it charged, Yakul tensed bulking up in preparation of defending her rider. She bleated a warning to the charging rhyhorn and reared, Astrid dropped the pokeball in her hand as she threw anything she had to cling unto Yakul to not be thrown off. Yakul landed back down on fours hard and send a ripple through the ground towards the rhino.
the pokeball rolled a bit away in the fog and Silvia popped out, only to look around confused as she could hear the others, but not see anything else than water lapping at the shore right in front of her.

The Rhyhorn was ready to charge in and attack, but as Yakul reared back, it thought better than to get itself under those hooves and lowered its head. Digging its horn into the ground below, it continued to charge forward, breaking up the earth. It snapped its head back up and launched rocks, stones and mud towards Yakul and Astrid, smacking Yakul along her exposed belly. Continuing its charge, the Rhyhorn circled the two, still trying to scare them away. It tried to keep a wide berth, keeping itself obscured in the fog, but stay close enough to keep an eye or ear out for their location. With a powerful stomp, Yakul shook the earth beneath them and the Rhyhorn stumbled in its run. It slipped and fell, skidding across the hard ground as it shook and shuddered from Yakul's attack. It roared again, unsure of where it was in the thick fog, or where Yakul and her trainer had gone, disoriented from the slide. It stomped and roared, keeping up its scary act. It dug its horn into the ground once more, kicking up more rocks and trying to smack them into Yakul, but the attack went wide. It breathed heavily as it looked around, trying to find the Skiddo or where it might attack from next. Yakul bleated furiously as the rock and debris hit her belly, she was not letting anyone getting near Astrid! The rhyhorn got the messaged and veered off although it did not run off but instead began to circle them, Yakul turned around herself to keep it in front of her all the time. Astrid soon got rather dizzy from the continued circling, she grabbed Yakul's horn again, they needed to get out of this situation. The skiddo acted immediately and sent a shockwave through the ground at the rhyhorn which made it slip and fall. Yakul was about to leap and run off when the rhyhorn roared once again and reared, stomped and in general was threateningly, Yakul backed off some steps instead. Astrid clung to Yakul's neck when the skiddo reared and tried to kick off some of the rocks which was thrown at them. A pokeball fell out of the saddlebag and Yakul leaped away from it and landed hard in the ground, sending another shockwave, and the pokeball, in the direction of the rhyhorn.
Not far away Silvia looked around frantically, where were the others? What was going on? It sounded like something big was going on with all the stompings and roars. She shied away when something big bulldozed past her but it was too fast and too well hidden in the fog for her to really see what it was. It came rampaging past her again and she got furious, she was not going to get stomped on! She shot bubbles after it but it had already disappeared into the fog again. The small horsea scanned the white swirling mass for any movement, ready to blast it if it appeared again.

The wild rhinoceros circled back around and stomped his hoof down into the dirt. He bellowed loudly, roaring at the top of his lungs, and shook his body. The armor plating that covered the wild rhinoceros from head to toe shifted and scraped against one another, creating an almost earache of a screeching sound as they scraped up against each other. It narrowed its eyes, trying to steady its field of vision through the dense fog, and snorted. The Rhyhorn began digging at the ground with its foot as it warned the trespassers, “Stay back! I will charge!”Without a second warning, the wild Pokemon began to rampage through the open route. It kept its eyes trained to Astrid and Yakul’s silhouettes as the fog swelled up and partially blocked its vision. As Yakul stomped her hooves into the ground, a bright aura emanated from them and pulsated through the ground. The ground shifted and swayed underneath the contestants and bits of the ground seemed to shimmy hard enough to cause the Rhyhorn to stumble and fall over onto its side. It yanked itself back up and snorted as it bellowed with a loud squealing sound. “Leave at once! I will make you leave!”The red-and-white Pokeball soared overhead and past the large Rhinoceros, just barely missing the beast as it fell to the ground. It bounced against the bark of a large oak tree and fell into a thicket of wildflowers. As the rhino rolled over onto its belly and lifted itself back up onto its four limbs, it began to stomp about and smashed the Pokeball to bits. It turned angrily towards the Skiddo and her trainer and trumpeted loudly. “I AM NOT YOURS TO KEEP!” And began charging at full speed in their direction. The Rhyhorn began causing the ground to tremble underfoot at it raised up large boulders and shot them at Yakul, striking the other Pokemon on her side. Yakul answered the rhyhorns roars with her own bleating, they were nonverbal though and she gave no response to what it had been saying. She just saw it was aggressive and kept charging at them, and that she reacted upon and with her ground rumbling abilitites which could match the rhyhorn's, she stopped its rampaging. For a brief moment.
Astrid was quite surprised when she saw the pokeball fly from Yakul's hooves and soar over the rhyhorn. It seemed to anger the armored pokemon even more and it charged straight at them. The old woman's eyes grew wide and she grabbed Yakul's horns, the skiddo spun around and raced down the path away from the rhyhorn, but it kept chasing them. "This is of no use," Astrid panted to herself and steeled herself. She managed to stick her hand into the saddlebag and pull out a pokeball. Grabbing both of Yakul's horns, she thought the idea of turning and facing the rhyorn, and it disappearing into a pokeball. Even though Astrid was prepared she was almost thrown off her mount as the skiddo spun around again and raced straight at the rhyhorn. Astrid scrambled to get a better grip and then dared to let go with the hand she had the pokeball in, which she clicked large. "This is crazy!" She whimpered to herself as she stared at the imposing bulk which grew larger and more solid through the fog for every second. Her mouth was dry as she readied the pokeball and aimed it. she would have one chance and if she missed she wasn't what would happen.
Silvia listened to the muffled sounds, she could hear Yakul! They must be in a battle with the big thing which was running around and almost trampled her before. Silvia didn't doubt one moment that the others would handle their opponent without any problems, hadn't they just won over that gym leader they all had talked about was so strong? what was worrying though was if she accidently ended under some heavy foot or got left behind! The horsea slid and hopped over to her pokeball and curled her tail around it, the ground trembled and shadows raced past and further into the fog. Silvia hesitated but then began making her way in that direction, keeping alert of anything which would pop out of the the fog which she might need to deal with.

The rhyhorn continued its assault, now attempting to knock Astrid from the top of Yakul. "YOU WILL NOT CAPTURE ME!" It shouted proudly, but as it charged towards Yakul, Astrid's great ball struck the rhyhorn on the head, and in an instant the pokemon dissapeared, leaving Yakul charging through the fog at nothing, passing quickly over the spot where the ball fell to the ground. On the ground it wiggled gently, but the Rhyhorn had expended too much energy, and after just a few short moments, the light on the button of the ball flashed, signaling that the pokémon had given up on resisting, and settled inside. Meanwhile, in the bushes a nidorina notices as a small Horsea wiggles through the brush. It had never seen a pokemon like this before, its blue was reminiscent of its own colors however, and intrigued it moved closer. "Hello?" It said moving closer to the Horsea. "You look lost... Are you lost?" It asked in a friendly tone. It moved closer and began inspecting the horsea curiously. "Are those flippers? How do you move around on land? Balancing on your tail?" It asked curiously, gently poking at the pokemons flippers. "Do you need help getting somewhere? Here, hop on, I can bring you!" It asked, attempting to be helpful. The nidorina was quite eager to help out, despite having never seen the pokemon before. Its eyes flashed when it saw the pokeball that the Horsea had wrapped its tail around. "Oooh, is that one of those balls that the humans use to carry us pokemon around in? That's so cool that you found one! I can hold it for you!" They said, cheerfully scooping the pokeball up off the ground. "So, where are you off to?"A Level 23 Nidorina met Silvia in the woods, and seems to want to help the lost horsea find its way!

As the rhyhorn shouted, Yakul bleated loudly in response although it was a nonverbal answer. Astrid had become white as a sheet as they galloped straight at the charging rhyhorn, she clenched he great ball in her hand and if asked afterwards she had no clue how she managed to throw it. She couldn't miss and Yakul thundered over where the rhyhorn had been a moment ago and also knocked the pokeball away sending it jumping over the road and into the grass.
Silvia snapped her head around and almost blasted the newcomer with her water, but she stopped herself in the last moment. "Hi.." she said hesitantly and narrowed her eyes when the other asked if she was lost, "why?" she snapped, before it commented that she did look lost. She looked down a moment before raising her head proudly. "I'm not sure if I'd say I'm lost, my trainer is just around here and is battling something big. I don't know in which direction they went, and I'll admit that I'd be lost if she don't know I'm out and moves on," she explained and looked down before waving them with a smirk. "Yeah, fins are not great on land but I can assure you that I'm really fast in the water. Not that it helps me now," she said wryly, "I don't move around up here very well."
"You will?! Oh thank you, that would be a great help!" She exclaimed when the nidorina offered to help her, but quickly wrapped her tail tighter around the ball when the friendly pokemon looked at it. "Thanks, but I'll hold that myself. It's my freedom you know." She somehow got up on the nidorina and told that it had to be somewhere on the road, and off they went. Nidorina carried her off in one direction and when they had gone quite a bit without any luck, they turned around and tried the other.
Yakul's head flew up and her nostrils flared as something moved closer, she stomped her hoof as warning. Astrid lifted her head dazed, she had climbed off Yakul and had sat down on a lying down treetrunk, still white as a sheet and shaking as she leaned to her cane. She looked puzzled at the weird sight which approached and frowned, was she imagining things now? "Silvia?" She asked surprised, "How have you gotten out?" The horsea called out cheerfully and thanked her helper relieved. She was dropped off and the nidorina set off to continue whatever she had been doing when she ran into Silvia.
It took some time and the sun had burned away the fog long ago, but finally Astrid felt calm enough to continue the travel.

Astrid was tired, really tired. The night was coming to an end and she had been going pulling through it all as a sudowoodo had been terrorizing and terrifying farmers and pokemon in the area. With some investigation and a trap using water, she had managed to reveal it and catch it. Or rather, get hold of it, as she hadn't caught it in a pokeball but instead gotten Yakul too wrap it up in her vines and now they were all going the long way back to Goldenrod. It was going slow as Astrid was on foot and she was leaning heavily on her cane.
The sun crawled over the horizon and Astrid squinted in the strong light, she yawned and slapped her cheek lightly to stay away. "I'm too old for this," she mumbled to herself and shook her head vigorously, "you can do this! Just back to town and report what has happened and hand over our new friend, and then straight to bed!"
A shadow fell over her as Pia soared past, the bird seemed as alert as always. Rita stayed close to the group, stopping every other moment to sniff and listen nervously for danger. Yakul seemed unfazed and just trotted on and only checked with Astrid once in a while to make sure the old woman didn't fall too far behind. The sudowoodo trotted in front of her subdued, after it had learned they weren't going to do anything against it, it had calmed down and become quiet. Janus had taken advantage of his small size and was riding Yakul, he was probably sleeping. Ella trailed after Astrid and looked just as tired, she winced at every second step as her bruises bothered her, while Silvia made up the rear and made sure everyone was keeping up. The speed was so slow the horsea could easily keep up by jumping, which she usually couldn't. Astrid was too tired to think about recalling any of her pokemon, and none of them had reminded her.
"Toucannon!" Pia called from above and came swooping back, Astrid lifted her head half asleep and a smile spread on her face as she saw the skyscrapers in the distance. "Goldenrod, finally!" She said and picked up speed, for three steps, and then fell back to her former tempo. Rita paused to listen, she slowly turned her head as she tried to pinpoint from where the sound she heard came from.

Rita was the first to react on the movement and she called out a warning before she backed up several steps, ready to run. Yakul turned to face the unknown pokemon and stomped threateningly while Pia circled back and got the salandit to press itself against the branch it was on warily. Astrid frowned tiredly and suppressed a yawn, she frowned when she saw how the vines around the sudowoodo loosened a bit and she took a few heavy steps over to touch the skiddo's horns and remind her of her task. The fake tree pokemon's shoulders sagged when the vines tightened and it resigned to being captured once again. "What is it?" Astrid asked and followed her pokemons look towards the tree, she frowned. "What is that? That can't be native here," Astrid said as she looked at the black salamander, who's tongue flicked in and out of its mouth. The old woman looked around trying to decide who to ask to talk to the pokemon, and Silvia saw her chance to make a difference and not be in the background for once. "Hi, what are you doing out here?" The horsea called as she hopped forward, the salamander cocked its head as it watched her. "What do you think?" It called back with a laugh and when Silvia just looked at it expectantly it sighed, "trying to learn what this area has to offer," and then it added under its breath, "which isn't much.""How have you come here?" Silvia added and shot a glance back when she heard something, only to see Janus had crawled down Yakul and was making his way over to join her. She felt a pang of irritation, didn't the joltik believe she could handle this on her own? The salandit's eyes switched to the bug and it got a hungry look in them. Silvia cleared her throat and looked sternly at the salandit who sighed, "you must ask my last trainer about that, they left mere here," it said and added with a shrug before Silvia got to ask, "he seemed annoyed, but he has been for a while.""You must have done something to annoy him then," Janus declared and the salandit's eyes narrowed. Silvia pushed him out of the way, "Do you like it here? Or shall we try help you find a better place to live?" The salandit looked surprised at her and then thoughtful. Janus opened his mouth but Silvia shoved him into the grass to stop him, the salandit chuckled. "It's a bit cold out here, I admit. And it lacks the options I had back home, so I might come with you. What do you offer which might be of interest for me?" It drawled as it crawled down the trunk, head first and made its way over to stand in front of Silvia and Janus. Silvia studied the black lean pokemon thoughtfully as she tried come up with what it would like, but Janus was faster. "It depends on what you'd like. The human's houses are warm and nice, I know since I have lived in one most of my life, and if you like battling a trainer can help with that too. And they are usually good to feed us, Astrid is at least, but I don't know if she plans on getting anymore pokemon, she's a bit old. You can see that by her grey hair and the way she leans on her cane, that's the stick she's carrying, its for making it easier to walk. She is a bit slow but I like her, but not all pokemon like her slower speed. I know she'll help you find another more fitting trainer if so," Janus explained and Silvia glared at him, if looks could kill. The salandit looked up as Astrid walked over, and she offered it a pokeball, which it watched thoughtfully. Astrid frown briefly when the salandit tapped the pokeball with a paw and after a few shakes decided to stay inside. She picked up the ball and looked at it through the fog of her mind, she shook her head as she pocketed her ball and she turned to face Goldenrod again. "Almost there, you'll handle all this later," she said to herself and started walking. Her pokemon had watched her and took their places from before as they traveled the last way back to deliver the havoc creator and get some well earned rest.
