Nate is short for his age and often gets mistaken for being younger than he actually is, with turquoise eyes and short, spiked, white hair, which tends to draw attention from the wrong people. A black outfit that is loose around his legs and arms for more flexibility in his movement.
When he is in a windy area or a place where there is heavy rain fall or snow, he will wear a pair of black thick boots, black thick and loose bottoms that he puts over the top half of his boots to keep his feet more dry, a silver top and a black thick jacket with fur over the hood.
If he is spending the day when it is very sunny or at a beach area, Nate will wear a pair of black shorts, a pair of black flip flops, and a black vest.
When Nate is spending the day in the city planning on how he should challenge the gym leader or doing research for where he should travel to next. Nate is often seen wearing a pair of blue flip flops, the black trousers that are loose around his legs along with a silver top and a black jacket.
Before Nate was kidnapped, his hair was not as spiky, with only a few spikes here and there. He also wore the ninja outfit, but with the addition of the ninja's shuriken insignia on the back of his outfit.
When Nate is camping or relaxing with no plans of really doing much that day, he is often seen wearing a pair of black jogging bottoms, a dark red top that has a large shuriken on the front, a black jacket that he wears over his shoulders like a cape along with a pair of black trainers.
Nate carries a bag where he carries around his spare clothing, pokeballs and the equipment he uses for day to day living. He uses a two man tent that he has kept from his ninja days from when he and who ever he was training with would sleep in, he also has tent pegs to stop the tent from blowing away when he is sat outside of the tent. He keeps his tent and tent supplies in a tent bag that he has strapped around his back, while he keeps his bag strapped over his left shoulder.
Personality: Nate doesn't really trust anyone as he was kidnapped from a young age to be raised as a criminal. The only person/things that he fully trusts are the person who helped him escape from the ninja clan and the Pokemon that he has on his team. He keeps his barriers up and will take a lot for him to open up to people, he hardly trusts anyone including officers of the law since he doesn't know where he comes from who who he really is as all he knows is that his name is Nate and doesn't know what his last name is.
Since he appears younger than he actually is, people do tend to think that he is less experienced than he actually is what he uses to his advantage. Since people are not going to really pay much attention to a young child than someone who is older. Nate likes to stay in shape and has developed muscles in his arms and stomach from the training he has done in the past and continues to do in the present. He prefers psychic type Pokemon over every other type of Pokemon because they have a major type advantage over all poison type Pokemon despite most psychic Pokemon being easily defeated by other types. He knows that it is only a matter of time until his former clan comes looking for the deserter once again, he hopes that this time he will have grown greatly and manage to hold his own no matter who they send after him.
His main weakness what makes him fall apart is when people know about his past but will not reveal it unless he does something for them, since he is desperate to know who he actually is and where he comes from. He also has a fear of poison type from the vast training he had done with the ninja clan. The fear of poison types comes from how he had to train to navigate through the gas emitted by Koffing's to increase his sneaking around.
Nate's main likes are: cute and tough looking Pokemon, psychic type Pokemon, training, reading, sneaking around, being under estimated.
His main dislikes are: Poison type Pokemon as he will freeze up and will make mistakes in his battling, people who prefer strong Pokemon over weak Pokemon since without weak Pokemon you can't have strong Pokemon, ninja's, rude people, criminals.
History: Nate was born in the Snowpoint City to Raymond and Beverly Grey. At the age of two, Nate was kidnapped by a ninja clan to be raised as a ninja from a young age. Because of this Nate doesn't have any memories of his parents or where he comes from. At the ninja clan Nate was put through vigorous training in training to remain hidden from sight, being able to sneak around easily, to favour poison type Pokemon over every other type of Pokemon. Nate became serious in his training and was top of his class of ninja but he also hated it as he wanted to know who he was and where he came from as he was only ever called Nate.
At the age of eight, he got sent to the Hoen Region on a mission to find some new recruits for the ninja clan. He couldn't complete the mission and fled from the ninja clan and battled against his teammate to save the life of a young child. Nate ran away and travelled around the Hoen Region in hopes of finding out where he came from with his trusty Pokemon Beedrill. He stayed out of the spot light in the region so that he could stay one step ahead of his former team. He never found any evidence that he was looking for.
At the age of fourteen, he made his way to the Kanto Region as he had heard of a ninja gym leader. He thought that maybe the ninja gym leader would be able to help him but he never made it that far. He got confronted by his former teammate who challenged him to a Pokemon battle, if he lost he was to return to the ninja clan for punishment. Nate utterly lost as he froze up against the poison type opponent Pokemon and made basic mistakes like using poison type and grass type moves against them. On the way back to the ninja clan, Nate broke down to his former teammate abut how he just wanted to return home to his parents and to find out who he actually was. His former teammate took pity on him and let him 'escape' only if he handed over all of his Pokemon and items. He agreed and got dropped off at the outskirts of New Bark Town to start completely over with nothing on him except for his clothing.
