Charlie swooped in through the main doors of the gym, head held high. They'd left Fist to go and do some Rockety things while they went and got their first gym badge. Apparently they needed to get it before the could sign up to join, but they were letting Fist go off to sort out the details of whatever trial mission they decided to put them on. Hopefully it wasn't too difficult, they doubted it, but this seemed like a useful avenue to go down to get stronger quicker.
Spotting the front desk, they walked over with a smile. It paid to be friendly to officials, at least until he was a part of the evil organisation. If they got into trouble before joining, that would look bad... Or maybe that would look good? Who knew. Regardless, they didn't want to get arrested or escorted out for causing a scene.
"Good afternoon, I was hoping to challenge the Gym today. Do I need to sign up anywhere or?" They currently had Ignis, Jester and Scatter out of their balls. They were the three Pokemon they'd be using to challenge the gym. They had brought along a few more, just in case. But they'd never used them in battle before, and they were still rather weak.
Scatter clung to their backpack, occasionally framing them with her wings as they fluttered open. She was still rather docile after evolving, but the addition of wings lead to her messing around with the others more. She was a lot faster like this, and it meant she could dive bomb the others unexpectedly.
Ignis and Jester were both stood at Charlie's side, waiting patiently. They were going to be the two main participants in this battle. Scatter was mostly there for support. But honestly, if everything went their way, Jester was really the only one that would need to get stuck in.

The receptionist sat at her desk, carefully taking trainer’s information and cataloguing them into her database as they waltz in ready to tackle Falkner inside of his GYM. Many would try to breeze past her, strolling in like they knew the place too perfectly and didn’t need her formalities to work their way to their first GYM badge. She sighed, pushing her wide-rimmed glasses up the bridge of her nose and opening the small doorway that separated her desk from the rest of the front of the inner building, and strolled over to a messy-haired trainer that had managed to stomp just past her on his way to Falkner. “Sir, you need to sign up with-“ He snatched his arm away from her and shoved her with his hands, spitting on the ground beside her. “Lay off, old woman! I don’t need to do nothing! I’m here for a GYM Battle!” He snapped. The receptionist jumped up and dusted herself off, placing one hand idly at her side as she raised her other up defensively to instruct the trainer to stop in his tracks. “In this GYM, you need to follow me to sign up! Currently Falkner is in the middle of-!!!” The trainer pushed himself up against the receptionist and shoved her again, knocking her to the ground and causing her glasses to fly off of her face. She huffed angrily, searching on the ground for her glasses and feeling along her outfit until she was able to locate a small, handheld device. She pressed the button on the side and spoke into the device, “We need security, stat!” Two large, thick men with muscles that seemed to almost jump out of their shirts waltz up and immediately apprehended the young man, tossing him out of the GYM as Charlie would make their way into the GYM. “Falkner won’t be battling you today, sir. Come back when you’ve learned how to act properly if you’re allowed back.” They snapped, turning away from the rude trainer. The receptionist dusted herself off once more, after managing to get back to her feet, and placed her glasses on her face. She walked over to Charlie and smiled brightly, thankful that someone seemed to have manners. “Oh, yes! Right this way! I’m Susanne, one of the receptionist here who can take your information and Party down. Then, we’ll meet Falkner. I hope the other trainer didn’t bother you too much.” She grumbled about the recently rude trainer they had tossed back out onto the streets. She would immediately usher Charlie over to her desk and gather their personal information and Party Pokemon that they wished to challenge Falkner with, entering it into their computer. She would then usher Charlie to follow her as she led him to meet Falkner. “Some trainers think they can run the show or break in. Luckily, our Falkner is a part-time police officer, so they quickly learn their lesson when they try to break into his GYM. Wait here.” She motioned to some stands as she led him into the battle arena. Susanne would walk over to Falkner, who was in the midst of a battle against a Pikachu. Although the other Pokemon was an electric type, the clear level disadvantage, and the lack of preparation from the other trainer would prove to be their downfall. Falkner’s Pidgeotto easily knocked it out with another Mud-Slap. Falkner walked over to the young trainer, now torn up and crying as he recalled his fainted mouse and thanked the trainer for the opportunity to battle them before releasing them from their GYM. After a quick conversation with his receptionist, Falkner would walk over to Charlie and extend a hand in greeting. “Welcome to Violet City GYM! I understand you’re here to challenge this gym for our GYM badge? Falkner greeted Charlie with a smile. “I am Falkner, Violet City’s GYM Leader. I will use 2 Pokemon during this GYM battle, though you are allowed to use up to 6 registered Pokemon for the official GYM battle. You may only call out one Pokemon to battle at a time, though you may use medicines and other battle items as you’d like during our fight. The battle will continue until either side has no more Pokemon able to continue battling or until the challenger forfeits. Are you ready?” Falkner asked Charlie expectantly, though something felt… odd…about this trainer. GYM Leader Falkner accepts your challenge! He calls out his Level 10 Pidgey! Who will Charlie start off with?

Charlie wasn't bothered by the ruckus at all, in fact it gave them a good look at what would have happened if they even thought about trying to cause trouble in the presence of a Gym Leader. Charlie provided the relevant information Susanne needed and listened to her vent about the more disrespectful trainers. But... Falkner was a part time police officer? Charlie hadn't known that. It really did pay to be nice to officials.
Charlie thought on it as they followed Susanne to the battle area. They should keep tight lipped about their future plans for sure, but it's not like they'd already joined Team Rocket, they couldn't get in trouble for something that only planned to do... right? They weren't quite sure how it worked.
Regardless, Falkner seemed nice enough as he explained the rules of the official match, and Charlie shook the hand that was offered to them. "Ready as I'll ever be." Charlie said with a smile, although it was a little forced. "I only have the five Pokemon with me, but I hopefully wont be sending out anyone but these three." They motioned to the ones currently outside their Pokeballs.
Charlie got situated on their side of the battle arena and psyched themselves up for the fight. They hadn't been in an official battle before, just a few small time trainers here and there. While they wouldn't admit it out loud, the whole situation was a little intimidating. Should they strike up a conversation? Wait for Falkner to bring up a topic. Were they supposed to battle in complete silence? Charlie had never dealt with authority very well and really, they were starting to get a little twitchy. Barging in and demanding a badge was clearly not the right way to do it, and while the idea of beating an official Gym Leader and part time cop was indeed exciting, actually doing it was getting to them.
Better get it over with and hopefully they could get this over with the first time around. "Okay Ignis, you first." Charlie commanded, breathing in deep to focus. The Charmander rushed into the battlefield, held held high with a proud battle cry. Of course he was the first one out, he was the strongest after all. He puffed out his chest and faced his opponent with pride.
"Alright buddy, Dragon Pulse, and don't stop!" Charlie commanded. They had done a little bit of homework, they knew Falkner used flying types, but that was about it. They had no idea what kinds, but at least now they knew he only had two. The first one being a Pidgey was good, simple. If they could take this out in just a couple of moves, all the better for them and their potential victory. They wanted to save up as much energy for the second one. That was surely the stronger of the two.
Ignis swished his tail back and forth, excited to show off how powerful he was to not only his trainer and fellow teammates, but to this new trainer they were up against. They were in a cool building, and in a cool arena and this was clearly an important battle! Doing well here was important! It must be!! He opened his mouth and grinned at the opponent Pidgey, sharp fangs showing, before letting out a blast of draconic energy.

Falkner raised a curious eyebrow at Charlie’s exclaim. So this trainer hoped to only rely on a small collection of their team, and didn’t think that they would need to put much work into battling a GYM Leader? Falkner’s smile curved at the edges as it stretched across his face, and he crossed his arms determinedly over his chest while snapping his fingers to his feathered avian as the Pidgey darted around in the air above him. “Many trainers come in here with an electric type and think that it will be a piece of cake to get their first gym badge from me.” Falkner nodded in response to Charlie’s remark. “I think they underestimate the power of my Pokemon sometimes and believe only one or two really strong types are needed to win the match. Let’s see how skilled your Pokemon are, shall we?”Falkner turned to his brown feathered bird as it circled in the air above. The roof of the gym had been peeled back and opened, letting the bright sun above shine down with its warm glow. Many times, Falkner would have to close the roof of his gym and not allow his Pokemon the true freedom to soar above their opponents due to bad weather. Falkner was glad that today was not the same case. “Pidgey use Sand Attack!” Falkner called out confidently. Then, when Charlie called out their move to their flame-tailed lizard, Falkner’s eyes widened in worry. Pidgey soared down close to the ground, hovering as he prepared to kick up the bits of dust and debris that he could summon on the gymnasium floor below. “Change of plans, Pidgey! Use Tackle, and give it everything you’ve got!” He called out in alarm. If Falkner didn’t act fast, it wouldn’t make much of a difference how much sand or debris he slung around the battlefield with this lizard. When did Charmander know such strong moves?! Falkner must have battled nearly a dozen of the red scaled lizards, and this seemed to be the first he faced with such an impressive move! Ignis’s face puffed up as he summoned the burning energy and fired a long, bright orangish-red beam at his opponent. Pidgey flapped its wings in a hurry and tried to dart out of the way, but Ignis would only move his head so that the energy beam chased after Pidgey until it landed a strong hit, knocking the bird out of the skies. “I must admit, that’s a strong move!” Falkner said, wiping away a bead of sweat from the top of his forehead. “How did your Charmander learn that move? Was it a TM, perhaps?” He asked curiously, instantly excited about the match in front of him. Pidgey rammed the small red lizard, causing Ignis to stumble back two steps, though it would appear as though Ignis would manage through the attack just fine. The small lizard puffed up his cheeks once more and fired another powerful beam of hot energy at the Pidgey, knocking it out of the skies and knocking his opponent out. Falkner recalled his Pokemon and pulled out another Pokeball, releasing a large brown osprey with bright red crest feathers and alternating red-and-yellow tail feathers to replace the Pidgey. “You may have bested my Pidgey, but now you face my Pidgeotto.” He smiled confidently as his bird cried out and took off to fly up high above them. Charlie whistled, low and quiet, as Ignis attacked. Dragon Pulse certainly was an impressive move when coming from a smaller Pokemon like Charmander. They nod at Falkner's question. "Yeah, taught it through a TM. I was a little lucky really, with how many good ones I found along the way here." It wasn't long before Ignis defeated his foe and let out a triumphant snarl. He'd taken a hit, but he'd fought valiantly and slayed the beast in his way! He looks over his shoulder at his trainer, and Charlie gives him a thumbs up for his effort.
Ignis was feeling powerful, and energised. He puffed out a little fire and his body began to glow. He started growing, tail elongating and claws getting sharper. After the bright flash, Ignis puffs out his bigger chest and growls approvingly. He was stronger now. A freshly evolved Charmeleon.
"Awesome work, buddy." Charlie watched on excitedly. Looking back up to Falkner as he brought in their Pidgeotto. Charlie hummed to themselves. Should they stick to the original plan, or let Ignis keep on fighting? They looked up at the bright sky above them, and decided against it. Ignis could always jump back in again if the others couldn't handle it.
Charlie addresses Falkner. "I'm still pretty confident. This battle isn't just about power, but also strategy. And I have just the plan for your Pidgeotto. Okay Ignis, come back. Let the others have a go. Scatter, you first." The Vivillon trilled and flapped her wings, flitting up from Charlie's back and out into the arena as Ignis returns to his trainers side. Scatter flits around sporadically, waiting on her next order. It was a little scary, going up against such a big bird, but she'd prove herself just like Ignis. Her trainer knew what they were doing.
"Stun Spore!" With a short cry, Scatter flapped her wings hard, dislodging the spores and scales that clung to them, dusting them through the arena in an attempt to paralyse the bird Pokemon.

Charlie’s comment about his own string of luck caught Falkner’s attention. He listened intently and tried to guestimate how many Technical Machines the young individual must have come across in their travels. Though, if Charlie purchased most of the TMs personally, Falkner couldn’t imagine they would have called themselves ‘lucky’. So, did Charlie win them or… Falkner sized them up and couldn’t quite tell if this young adult would have had a possible troubled past, so the GYM Leader wouldn’t immediately try to jump to any such conclusions. “Did you win a bunch or come across a good sell?” Falkner asked, trying to keep the conversation on the topic as light and open as possible. Plus, if they knew of a salesman with TMs that Falkner could peruse, it wouldn’t hurt to check them out for his bird Pokemon’s sake. “My Pidgeotto knows a pretty powerful TM, as well. Perhaps, you’ll get to see it in action!”The bird puffed up his chest and beat his wings. Within an instance, the colorful feathered avian was airborne. The Pidgeotto soared through the air, giving Scatter a chase inside of the Gymnasium as the two winged creatures seemed to be neck-and-neck with speed. “Pidgeotto, let’s see if we can make this quick, shall we? Use Gust!” Falkner turned his striking blue eyes away from the battling Pokemon and back upon the dark brown haired individual. “You know my bird has the advantage.” He stated matter-of-factly and gestured towards Charlie’s Scatter. “Though, with the way you’ve battled with your Charmander, I can tell you’re no novice. I’ll be curious to see how your strategy plays out for you.” Falkner added with a smile. Either Charlie had a temporary lose of their sanity or they had a really clever gameplan. Falkner knew that he would need to keep his wits sharp, no matter the case. The two Pokemon seemed to soar after each other at high speeds. The Pokeball-painted butterfly danced around the powerful winged avian as she kicked up dust and debris all around her. A strange, glowing yellow spore of dusty wind spun around in the air as the Pidgeotto began to beat his wings vigorously. He unleashed a small tornado that rampaged around the battlefield, yanking the small Vivillon out of the air and spinning her around viciously, before spitting her out and nearly knocking her to the ground. The bird whooped with a loud, triumphant whistling sound. “Pidgeotto, watch out for that spore!” But it was too late. The bird breathed in a deep inhalation of Scatter’s Stun Spore, taking it deep into his lungs. Pidgeotto swooped down to the ground and landed as he began to cough heavily and preened himself out of nervous habit. “Well played.” Falkner admitted as he turned his attention back to Charlie. That would cost his precious bird Pokemon dearly in the heat of the battle. Falkner guessed that he may have to rely more heavily on his special move with his Pidgeotto and hoped that his bird would manage through the paralyzing effects of the spores as they took root inside of his bird Pokemon. “But Pidgeotto is one tough bird. Pidgeotto, how are you feeling?” Falkner addressed Charlie with the first comment, then turned with true concern to his companion. The large osprey turned and stared determinedly at his trainer, before beating his wings and lifting himself up into the air once more. A slight tilt to the head at Falkner's sudden line of questioning. "Oh, a little bit of both. I bought a few basic TM's, mostly weather TM's and the like. But the Dragon Pulse and another you'll see shortly, I was lucky enough to win." Charlie hoped Scatter could last long enough for them to pull of their plan. It wasn't fool proof, but it would certainly help if it worked. They'd done some research before coming into the Gym. Falkner's Pidgeotto was a menace.
The matter of fact statement still felt like a jab at Charlie's intelligence. Yes, they knew Scatter was at a disadvantage. They had to focus to stop their eye from twitching. "I know, but Scatter's strong." A genuine smile, it also helped that their plan banked on Falkner and his Pokemon underestimating them. "And she's not gonna be in there for long."
Watching the two Pokemon dance around each other, Charlie struggled to keep their cool. They winced reflexively when poor Scatter was sent flying, but as the Paralysis took effect, they couldn't help the little fist pump. Part one of the plan went off without a hitch, and now it was time to finish the setup. "Atta girl Scatter, good work!" The bug type trilled back in response, happy to please her trainer. Scatter fluttered back to her starting position as the Pidgeotto got back into the air. She tried to keep her movements sporadic in the hopes to throw the bird Pokemon off their game.
"Okay Scatter, use Light Screen!" Charlie called out, and then nudged the little cream and green bear next to them. As Jester looked up, they winked down at them. "Get ready, you'll be going out there in a sec."

Curiosity swelled up inside of the GYM Leader’s chest as he listened to Charlie tell him about their collection of Technical Moves that they had acquired along their journey. The blue-haired GYM Leader tilted his head a bit as his eyes studied the brunette adult inquisitively. What else could Charlie hide within his teammates – especially ones that he might not have seen on the battlefield yet? He turned his attention to a strangely colored bear that Charlie seemed to speak to from their side of the field, though Falkner didn’t quite pick up on the conversation. “Weather moves can be a major game changer in many fights.” Falkner nodded his head with a mild hum. “Same can be said for the right status moves or healing moves, too.” He smirked, not wanting to give too much away. The Pidgeotto swooped up high in the air and chirped loudly. A bright beam of light gathered all around the area. At first, the light from the screen that Scatter placed up was so powerful that the predatory avian felt as though it couldn’t see anything through its light. Though, as most of the initial beams of light died down to just a glimmering shield that surrounded Charlie’s side of the field, it chirruped loudly with a smirk. Did it really think that it would hide from the impressive osprey behind a simple display of lights?! “Pidgeotto, be careful!” Falkner called, catching the bird off-guard. It huffed, puffing out its chest feathers defiantly as it soared as high as it could inside of the building and began whipping up some strong winds. “That light screen is going to cut your special moves down substantially! You’ll really need to give it your all with those attacks to stand a chance! Let’s keep it up with our Gust attack buddy, but really put your heart into it!” He called. Falkner nodded as the Pidgeotto unleashed a powerful tornado that tore across the GYM towards the Scatterbug. “I’ve got to admit, you have a sound strategy against my bird. Paralysis slows it down considerably, and I suppose you hope it’ll stop it from being able to attack every time?” Falkner smirked as he turned his attention to Scatter and the violent tornado that Gust had made. Many of the Gust’s violent winds were decimated as soon as it touched the barrier, though the beastly attack would struggle through the shield until it found its target. It pulled the Vivillon inside and spun Scatter around viciously for only a few good seconds, before the bright butterfly managed to flap its wings and pull itself back outside of the Gust attack. “And of the ones that do land, your light screen will keep the worst of its winds at bay. But…I promise you, that won’t be enough to defeat me.” Falkner said, keeping his confidence strong. Glistening scales filled the battlefield as the Vivillon got swept up by the strong winds. Despite her barrier, she didn't do well against the attack and it was taking its toll. She fluttered weakly to get back into position, even with all everything stacked in her favour, she didn't think she would survive another attack like that. Charlie watched on, shoulders tense. Scatter was only there for support, but they'd hoped she'd take less damage than she had. If the battle took too long, he would want to send her in again to set the Light Screen back up, but if she couldn't survive the hit she would take as a result there would be no point. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that, but Falkner seemed to be alluding to some kind of healing move and they didn't like the sound of that. "Alright Scatter, come back. You did your part." Charlie called out to their Pokemon. Scatter gratefully flitted back to her trainer, resting on their outstretched arm before crawling up to settle on their backpack. The best place to perch, if she did say so herself. With a deep breath, Charlie nodded down to Jester. "Your turn, you might take a bit of a beating going in, but that Light Screen will keep some of it at bay." Charlie wasn't sure what Jester might face, another Gust, or something else? They expected the something else, but whether or not Falkner would go for it is another thing entirely. Jester bounced out into the battlefield. The cream and green bear was excited to have a little fun. He spun and twirled his way right into the centre of the arena, unbothered by what might come at him. He knew exactly what he'd be doing next, so in preparation he began to rub his fluffy little paws all over his face and body. His fur began to stand on end, a faint crackle could be heard through the stadium. Charlie looked to Falkner with their own smirk. "This isn't just my strategy. It's a big part of it, yes, but Jester here's my trump card against your team. The set up with Scatter was just in the hopes of making this next part go a little quicker. I heard a bit about your strategy before coming in here. You have a habit of lowering your opponent's accuracy, which is a pretty good one I must say. Even if they have a super strong Pokemon, it doesn't matter much if it can't hit. But there are a few situations where, that wont help." They gestured to the Spinda, who pulled a face up at the Pidgeotto in the hopes of taunting it closer. This was gonna be so fun. "Shock Wave." Charlie felt a little too smug, they weren't sure how many it might take, but they were confident Jester could take down the Pidgeotto in three or four attacks. With their trainer's command, Jester stuck out his tongue at the flying type, rubbing his cheeks one more time and releasing the pent up static charge in a wave of electrified energy. He giggled, almost maniacally. If he wins this fight, he better get some dang candy. WC: 536, adding 400 to eggo which means it's ready to hatch

Falkner was intrigued, what was it this trainer had in mind? Was all this to sent their charmeleon back in again as that pokemon certainly was a strong one? Or perhaps they had some sort of personal goal of having a specific pokemon win the battle against him? That wasn't unheard of and the reasons for those were as many as the number of trainer who had done it. The vivillon barely managed to stay afloat after Gust's onslaught, Falkner smiled, "That's great Pidgeotto, exactly how you should do it," he encouraged his bird who called out its name proudly and confident. Even with light screen and a paralysis it was still going strong and it knew Scatter was going down next round. Charlie knew as well as he called her back. "You know what to do Pidgeotto! Just as we trained," Falkner called urgently and Pidgeotto screeched as it dived straight at Jester, when he stumbled onto the battlefield. Pidgeotto soared past him, barely avoiding the bear, who didn't try to jump away as most other pokemon would do, although it was hard to tell what Jester was doing. Pidgeotto looked annoyed momentarily when his display of power got no response. "Come on! Don't waste time!" Falkner called and pidgeotto spun around and in one smooth motion with a wing sent mud flying at the spinda. The strange screens which was surrounding Jester split it up in much smaller parts and not much reached him, but enough go through to irritate his eyes. "So you have prepared, neither light screen or Paralysis will hinder my much though, so unless you have something else in mind, I can't see how it should stop me, or help you see through the mud and sand," he pointed out with a challenging smile. It was nice when meeting someone who had done a bit of preparation before facing him, it meant they saw him as a threat and it made the battles more interesting for him. He had lost count on how many who had appeared with mareeps, or pikachu's and expected to shock him out of the sky with no resistance, most of them got sent home blinded and empty handed. The gym leader frowned and narrowed his eyes at Jester when Charlie gestured at him, he tried to remember what he knew about spinda's but he didn't see many of them in his gym. He was pretty sure that it didn't have the keen eye ability like his own birds, and Jester did look to be annoyed by the dirt in his eyes, even if it wasn't going to stop him from attacking. "Be on your guards, Pidgeotto!" He called a warning out to the bird soaring above, it was not going to fall for some pretty trick like a stuck out tongue to get any closer. Falkner's eyes widened when he heard the command and Jester released the attack which went off in all directions. Pidgeotto bravely did all he could do to dodge the electric waves but it was impossible, and it even worsened the paralysis in his muscles so the wings clapped into its body and it fell like a rock. "Pidgeotto!" Falkner shouted when the bird hit the ground and it lay there with its feet in the air, twitching from the paralysis and tense in spasms. Falkner watched with a worried expression and an open mouth, his hand slowly moved to where he had his pokeballs, but then Pidgeotto broke free of the paralysis and rolled to its belly, where it shook its head. Falkner sighed relieved and chuckled with a shaking voice, "that was unexpected, I guess that is a move from a TM as well?" He cleared his throat and squared his shoulders, "It's not going to work when you can't see," he pointed out more confidently. Jester rubbed at the dust and mud in its eyes, trying to wipe it away as best as he could. It was coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it got everywhere! It was all in his fur and even his ears. He shook his head to try and dislodge as much of it as possible. The thud of the Pidgeotto crashing into the floor alerted it to its fallen foe. Now was his chance!
"Good job buddy." Charlie called out, Jester seemed to do a lot of damage which was good. They hoped to get through this battle pretty quickly, but if it did start to drag on they had a few more tricks up their sleeve. They looked up as Falkner asked his question, and nodded. "Yep! Won it in a lottery, I was pretty lucky that it's useful for this gym." They didn't feel a need to correct Falkner on his assumption that Shock Wave would miss.
Before Charlie could give out another command, Scatter started flapping wildly from their back, getting their attention. The sudden movement and glow from their backpack hinted that their new egg was hatching! Scatter briefly fluttered into the air so Charlie could take off the backpack, before settling back into place on their hoodie. Opening up their bag, they're met with the sudden appearance of a black sea cucumber like Pokemon. They blinked at each other and Charlie had no idea what had just hatched into their bag. "Okay, I'll figure out what to do with you once this is over. Jester, Shock Wave again!" Charlie made sure the newly hatched Pyukumuku was comfortable, before placing the bag on the floor by their feet. Ignis craned his neck to see the new baby, and smiled when it blinked back up at him.
The bear raised a thumbs up into the air, his aim completely off from where Charlie was standing, but it was the thought that counts. He rubs his cheeks a few more times, his fur crackling with static as it began to stand on end, fluffing up his fur. He hopped onto one foot, and spun around once, twice, three times before coming to a stop and waving his arms in a 'jazz hands' motion. Jester couldn't help the giggle as he released the electric energy into the battlefield once more.
OOC: Leaving Pyukumuku blank for now, and have self updated the party.

As Jester prepared another round of Shock Wave Falkner finally remembered what made the move so dangerous as he finally recalled it never missed. " A bit late for me to remember but I am glad I did before things got any worse. Pidgeotto we have to switch strategy since Shock Wave will not miss no matter what we do. I must admit that is great luck for you to win such a move as I rarely encounter it in my gym." As Falkner tried to come up with a new strategy he could not act in time as Jester built up enough energy to send another wave of electricity towards Pidgeotto. The avian Pokemon took a direct hit as it was shocked by the attack. Somehow it was able to battle through the pain and paralysis however as Falkner finally managed to act. " We cannot take another of those in your current shape. It is a good thing I am prepared for this situation as now is the perfect time to use my signature move. Pidgeotto use Roost and restore some of your health. This battle is far from over." As Pidgeotto landed on the battlefield it started to pluck off some of it's loose feathers damaged by electricity and stretch out it's wings. Doing so was quite refreshing as Pidgeotto restored most of the health it had lost though it had no way to remove paralysis. " I cannot do anything about the paralysis but so long as we can use Roost whenever Pidgeotto gets low on health it will take more than brute force to win."Falkner just needed to buy a little bit more time until Light Screen ended before he would be able to go on the offensive again. It was not an ideal situation to be in but he had gotten out of far worse situations before and was not too worried about being able to complete his comeback despite things not looking too good for him. Charlie tutted after realising Falkner had a consistent way for his Pidgeotto to heal. While he confirmed it couldn't get rid of the paralysis, it would certainly drag out the battle for a lot longer than they'd hoped. They'd expected a Potion or two, but with Roost, they could outlast Jester indefinitely. They needed to come up with something else, they didn't think they could brute force this one with just Shock Wave. Squinting their eyes, they observed the preening Pokemon. Light Screen was going to wear off soon which would tip the scales in Falkner's favour even more.
First step, get Scatter healed back up to full health. "Sit tight for a bit Jester." They knelt down to rummage through their bag again, moving aside the newly hatched Pyukumuku to get to a Super Potion. "Come here Scatter, I'm gonna need you healthy before you go back in." They mumbled as they sprayed the potion onto her wounds and watched as they patched themselves back up. Scatter flapped her wings happily, showing that the damage from the gusts of wind had vanished. With a smile, Charlie let her crawl back up his arm to rest on his back.
They set their eyes back onto the battle field, and the warring Pidgeotto and Spinda. Second step, make it safer for Scatter to switch back in. "Okay Jester, use Teeter Dance!" With both Confusion and Paralysis, the chances of the Pidgeotto being able to attack Scatter were a lot lower. It would also, hopefully, mean less Roosts.
Jester giggled again, and started hopping from one foot to the other, twisting this way and that. He started humming a tune, some melody that had caught his attention once, and dancing around the battlefield. He waved his arms and stomped his feet, all to get the bird Pokemon's attention. His dance was designed to confuse and baffle his foes, tailor made to make even the smartest of Pokemon go 'What are you doing?'. With one final spin and a jump, Jester finished his dance and clapped for himself, doing a small little bow to his captive audience.

Falkner watched his large osprey struggle against the paralysis that seeped through his veins. The large bird would have to land periodically to rest as he struggled to remain in the fight. Curiously enough, it seemed as though Falkner’s opponent had tightened down – so to speak – to focus on the battle at hand. Were they considering their next move strategically? “Pidgeotto, you have to hang in there. I know that the paralysis is hard on you, but try to fight through it.” Falkner called out to his bird Pokemon. The Pidgeotto flapped his wings and screeched at the top of his lungs as if promising to do his best in the fight. Falkner watched as Charlie called their large, winged butterfly back over to them. As soon as they took out the red spray bottle with its orange spray top, the GYM Leader nodded silently to himself. “Pidgeotto, wait long enough for them to heal their Pokemon. Then, I want you to hit the bear with your strongest Gust attack. Ok?” The bird flapped his wings and tilted his head back as he let out a loud whistle. As soon as Charlie finished spraying Scatter down, the bird leaped up into the air and struggled through the paralysis that pumped inside of his veins to whip up a small tornado that he slung at Jester. The powerful winds ripped through the bear’s tough hide, tossing the teetering Pokemon back and forth within its high winds as it did so. “Interesting…considering that it has been a while since your Scatter has been out…let me guess? You’re worried about the light display that she put up?” Falkner raised an eye curiously in Charlie’s direction. As if on cue, the light screen wore away and faded from the battlefield. The small spotted bear teetered back and forth as he danced in an odd fashion. Pidgeotto called in a loud shrill and began following the bear’s almost hypnotic footsteps. The Pidgeotto felt dizzy and landed temporarily as he shook his head to try to free the spinning ducks above his head. He began flapping his wings heavily, creating a small tornado that instead spiraled all around him and ripped at his feathers. “Pidgeotto, be careful! Your bear’s quick footwork is a pretty good move.” Falkner called out, silently impressed with Charlie’s strategy.
