SP++ Trixie used Park Ball! Scyther escaped! SP36 Scyther used False Swipe!
Scyther wasted no time in speedily flying in and striking Cinnabar with its sharp wings after Trixie sprayed her Pokemon down with a potion. When the Park Ball zapped the green Pokemon up inside, the Scyther would fight and struggle until it broke free of the Park Ball. Angered, it rushed in and swiped at it's foe - not to completely wipe it out, but just to teach Cinnabar a lesson. The Scyther chivalrously waited for Trixie to apply the potion, before rushing in again - not with its arm-blades this time, but with its wings. Already she could see the burn was having an effect, as there was less force applied to the attack than before.
Despite crossing her fingers, Trixie's luck would not hold, and the Scyther popped out of the ball after but a single shake. Damn it! The bug Pokemon would flap its wings a few times to get its bearings, then rush down Cinnabar again. It raised a claw to strike, but instead of slashing the Magby, would turn its blade at the last second to whap the baby fire Pokemon with the flat of the blade. Was it... holding back for some reason? That move would be good for catching Pokemon, wouldn't it? Which only made Trixie all the more determined to add the Scyther to her team.
Another Sport Ball was thrown out, as the Scyther paused and shuddered, feeling the effect of the burn sap away its vitality once more. Trixie was starting to worry as the wild Pokemon was sucked inside. She didn't know how much more either of the combatants could take.

The Sport Ball wiggled once... twice... three times... before the red glow of the button dimmed, and with a ding, it lay still in the grass. "We... we did it!" Trixie screamed giddily. She grabbed ahold of the ball with one hand and scooped up Cinnabar in the other, hugging them both close to her chest. "You did awesome, Cinnabar! How are you feeling?" She set the Magby back down onto the grass, which had been ravaged by flame and cutting attacks alike. The Magby slowly toddled to his feet... then breathed heavily and sat back down, wiping sweat off his brow. Trixie could see bruises forming on his body, and even though the Scyther had been holding back, there was only so much a baby Pokemon could take! He looked like he needed a nap more than anything. "Yeah, that was a rough fight, wasn't it?" Trixie said, looking down at her Pokemon. Sure, she could use another Potion... but what could she find that was better than a Scyther? It was probably better to call off the contest now, before her Pokemon got tired out from battling any more. Even if they did find another strong and rare bug... the fight had been close, and she was still a little wound up from how the Scyther had escaped the first ball. If they fought again, and she knew Cinnabar would give it his all, he might grow stronger, but he might also get knocked out. She couldn't allow that. A good trainer wouldn't push her Pokemon too hard. Before she went any further, though, she had to let the Nincada go. Popping open its Sport Ball, she released it into a nearby section of grass that had escaped the ravages of the fight. "Go ahead, little guy. You can go home now." The Nincada looked back at her warily, before scuttling off into the tall grass and rapidly disappearing from sight. It was the first time she had ever released a Pokemon. She felt a small twinge of disappointment at not being able to train them both, but rules were rules. "Let's get you back in your Pokeball for now," she said to Cinnabar, returning the Magby and letting him have a well-deserved rest. She would head to the judging station and send out her new Scyther, who knelt before her in acknowledgement of her victory. "Eh, you don't have to go that far," she laughed, scratching the back of her head awkwardly. "Ready to win a prize?" [words=420] 400 to Incubator Cinnabar will forget Ember to learn Flame Wheel.
