"Oh my goodness! What a lively place!" Astrid exclaimed gleefully and looked at all the bugs which swarmed them, Ramsey sent her a strange look over his shoulder as he moved towards the slowpoke.
"What?" Astrid asked and Ramsey shrugged and turned towards her, "I just thought all women hated and feared bugs," he said without looking at her.
"Really? I know a lot of people do not like them, which I think is a shame," Astrid said and smiled to a spinarak which had made its way over to look closer at her. "Careful not to judge people," Astrid said warmly to the ranger who mumbled something and turned around again.
"Wait? Where did the slowpoke go? It was here a moment ago?" Ramsey exclaimed and Astrid looked at him, and did see that the slow pink pokemon was missing.
"It has probably moved around, it might be slow but it does have legs!" Astrid said with a smile and dismounted Yakul who eyed the many bugs warily but still found time to take a few mouthful of grass.

A volbeat moved forward hopefully, "Hello there, you want to battle?" She said surprised when the gestures it made wasn't to be misunderstood. It nodded vigorously.
"Very well then!" She said and picked a pokeball from her saddlebags and released Silvia.

The small horsea looked up at the bug hovering above her, she had grown but more in strength than size and she once again found herself dwarfed by the ones around her.
"Hi, who are you?" She asked and glanced around to get an idea of what the purpose of this encounter was, were they going to talk with it like the last one? Or was it a battle?
"This one here would like a battle with us," Astrid explained and Silvia looked eagerly at the volbeat, "really? Why do you want to battle us?"
"I think it will be best if you keep to the water attacks, we do not want to damage the trees too much," Astrid adviced and the horsea nodded.
"Are you ready? I'm going to give all what I got, so you better do the same!" She said with a laugh and sent a beam of bubbles at the volbeat.

Suddenly Yakul jumped startled in the air and she rushed forward almost trampling down Silvia who got thrown to the side.
"Hey! Watch where you step!" She shouted furiosly at the skiddo who galloped forward wide eyed.
"Yakul! Stop! Calm down!" Astrid gasped shocked.

Volbeat was looking for a battle but he never expected to be up against a Horsea yet alone such a high leveled one. The bug could not outspeed Silva nor could it used any moves that would be super effective however it did have a single trick up it's sleeve as it started to dig down deep with the primordial fear all bug types had when facing strong opponents. It was too late to act however as Silva's Bubble Beam scored a direct hit sending him sliding backwards into a tree barely clinging to consciousness as he stared at the Horsea. The internal struggle he faced finally built up to the point that Volbeat was able to charge Silva as she recovered from her attack right before Yakul could fully take her place.

Volbeat only grew more desperate as Yakul stared him down as he knew he could not endure any more damage at all. With just a sliver of health remaining Volbeat again awoke the inner struggle known as Struggle Bug a second time as he rushed forward and collided with Yakul as the Skiddo shrugged off the attack despite doing super effective damage. Yakul had a massive advantage at this point however the brave Volbeat refused to give up no matter how bad his position was. He was outmatched in this battle quite clearly but he had done a decent amount of damage considering how badly outclassed he really was.

Whatever happened in the next round Volbeat was proud of the fight it had put up and no matter how the battle ended he had tried his best. Until all hope was lost the young bug was going to keep trying to fight even if the very thought of doing so was unwise at this point.

Silvia perked up when she saw how powerful her bubbles had become, the volbeat hadn't answered her question but few pokemon did that. She really had showed it though, not that it had said anything about her size but she knew she was often missed and forgotten simply due to her size, but she was going to get them to pay attention to her and with her newfound strength it seemed pretty easy.
She straightened proudly, "want more? I got more where that came from," she called challenging to the volbeat who threw itself at her and struggled against her not-hold of it.
She showed the bug off her and prepared another blast of water at the bug when the ground started to shake under her, and she threw herself to the side to avoid getting trampled under Yakul's hooves. Yakul didn't react on Silvia's shout either and she fumed over being ignored and the small insignificant one once again, how dared she? Acting like she wasn't there at all, taking over the battle without asking and just in general being a nuisance.
The ground started to shake as Yakul stomped hard several times.

"Yakul! Get back here!" Astrid called but for deaf ears, Ramsey had been looking around for the slowpoke but he rode back to Astrid, looking curiously at the skiddo who was setting the ground into motion.
"A stubborn one who doesn't want to listen to anyone but herself?" Ramsey asked with a warm smile and Astrid frowned a bit.
"A bit hard to explain, she seems.. nonverbal, more like she lives more by instinct than pokemon usually does," the old woman explained, "she does understand me, if I can touch her horns, and she usually comes when I call. I am not sure what have gone into her now."
"Oh, I have heard of those pokemon, they are not many of them and some thinks they are a rumor. You know, some think that was how pokemon were in the past and their intelligence has come later, just like with us humans. Some says it was the same thing which started the evolution of psychic pokemon which has evolved beyond us with their intelligence," Ramsey said as he watched Yakul stomp around.
"You think she got scared?" He asked and Astrid threw out her arms in defeat, "perhaps, I do not know, but there are many bugs around and perhaps she thought I was in danger."

Volbeat prepared for what was almost certainly the final round. It was truly a miracle it had not been knocked out in the previous round however what little luck it had in enduring the previous attack was quickly washed away as Yakul got ready to strike again. Feeling far too exhausted and desperate to even try a Quick Attack Volbeat started to prepare yet another example of it's ancient display of fear as it tried to use Struggle Bug again. It was far too little too late however as Yakul was mere feet away by now with no hope of having her attack stopped by anything.

Yakul charged towards Volbeat at full speed and slammed into the bug burying it under a pile of dirt. Under ideal situations the bug would have easily endured the attack however Volbeat was so weak by now that there was no chance of it enduring even a weaker attack such as Bulldoze. Once the battle was finally over the Volbeat managed to recover enough strength after a few minutes to make a hasty retreat not only with a damaged pride but in quite a bit of physical pain as well. Luckily for the bug the physical pain would go away after a short rest.

For Yakul on the other hand she had won a hard fought victory and could celebrate that fact. Even more so that she defeated a Pokemon with a type advantage even if she was higher leveled. After such a powerful display any bug that challenged her was clearly braver than they ought to be.
