The Staryu stood tall and brave against the two combatants. It’s bright red gem stayed focused as it twisted and turned its body to glance from one opponent to the other. These strange, two-legged creatures with their brainwashing control of their Pokemon wouldn’t get very far from the Staryu. No! It’s friend had suffered unsurmountable torture at the hands of Nate and Leilani. All this Staryu wanted – all it needed, in this moment – was to seek out and exact a perfect revenge on them both! “HIYAH!” It declared, leaping up into the air as it spun around rapidly in place, preparing for the onslaught. Surely, the two other Pokemon were as tired as the Staryu was? It could feel that a large chunk of its health had been drained out of it. Though, even as its breath labored on, clasping for the fresh air that it so desperately needed, it wouldn’t give up. And as the battle waged on away from the water’s edge, the sea star could feel dryness setting in on the outer edges of its extremities. It could last a few more rounds, sure. A few rounds to prove that this was where it would make its stand – for all that was just and holy for all of starfish kind! But, when the two Pokemon disappeared from the battlefield, replaced instead by a strange looking sea otter and a bright blue turtle, the sea star jumped up in alarm. Who sent out these baby water Pokemon?! Why would they so readily defend those plant and bug Pokemon?! Did these evil trainers have control over water Pokemon as easily as they did the other types?! Water Pokemon…the obviously smarter and better kind of them all…really?! “HIYAH! HIYAH?!” It demanded to know just WHY Flynn and Blasty chose to help their humans out against it, and why they didn’t fight for their freedoms more. The Staryu began to glow with a bright, strange sheen-like light that surrounded it as it hardened itself up to prepare for the new Pokemon’s attacks. "Yeah, I have heard of people using a Bibarel in a few regions as they can learn most of the moves that people would need to use on a adventure." Nate didn't see the point since it would still take up a slot on the team so there was no reason why they just couldn't spread the moves out over your team so that there were a variety of Pokemon and moves available. He looked at the older female confused when she laughed over him thinking that he was the only one helping the professor with the pokedex. "That is a shame, as now it doesn't seem to be as fun filling out the pokedex..." Nate huffed as he crossed his arms over his chest. "But there is always the chance of there being trainers who have completely filled out with all of the information about ever single Pokemon that they catch." "It would be a tad confusing as how could we prove who caught the Pokemon and what not. It just sounds like more hassle than it needs to be to me. So I think it would be better not to do that."
"That is true, at least your Sewaddle has a resistance to water type moves. But I wish that they would actually use the water type moves but we do not have that luck." He let out a slight sigh of frustration.
"But it is better to be prepared though. I will just make sure to stock up on all of the basic things before I continue my journey as I never know when something similar will happen." He did have to admit that he wasn't expecting anything to happen and one of the worst things had actually happened. "But there are always way around it. Like you could have a flying type Pokemon or a Pokemon with levitate so that the Earthquake wouldn't hit them. Or use a Pokenon that the multiple target move is ineffective or not very effective against." "That is true. There are always someone better than you, but it is also good as it helps you to learn from your mistakes and to have something to work towards." He looked over at the female. "Maybe one day we would be able to have a full team battle to see who would win between us." "That is fine with me as it will be fun just how the two of us had our first gym battle."
Blasty looked at Nate as he listened to what Flynn had to say about Nate. 'That is where you are wrong. Nate would never get us to team up on a Pokemon. The worst he would do would be sending the others out in order to weaken the opponent so that the others can get stronger. But that is strategizing since without weak Pokemon you cannot have strong Pokemon. And without strong Pokemon you cannot train up you weak Pokemon.' He commented as he looked back at the other water Pokemon. 'That would be funny to watch.'
Nate pulled out a pokeball as he watched the interaction between the Oshawott and the wild Staryu. He looked on slightly confused when the Oshawott blew a small squirt of water upwards and not at the wild Pokemon. "Blasty use Tackle."
Blasty charged forward and dived towards the Staryu, he tucked his head, arms and legs into his shell as he hoped to damage the Staryu some more.

Lei shrugged, "probably, I haven't looked into it, but if people think that is the pokemon's most useful quality, it sounds pretty boring to me." She shook her head, "why other regions doesn't just learn from Alola is beyond me, if I was stuck with those HMs and learned there were an easier way, I would have rioted until they changed it!" She chuckled, and then laughed harder, "well, perhaps I should! I am stuck with that as long as I'm here!"The woman looked surprised down at Nate, "why not? Do we have all the same pokemon? Do we have the exact same adventure? I am sure you have collected information which no one else has encountered and which is valuable for the professor. Pokemon are not static creatures and there are still a lot of things we don't know about them, that's why they keep discovering new species, isn't it?" She winked and then yawned dramatically, "not that I would like to spent days in the field studying a wild pokemon to see how it lives, but that's how some work."She pointed at Luck, "and while I'm sure The Professor has tons of informations about pidgey and rattata, I haven't seen many scatterbugs around," she gestured to the staryu's, "or staryu's. I'm doubt many has been on this island before us, so all we register now is probably new."Lei looked teasingly at Nate when he gave his opinion about working together about the pokedex, "probably." She wouldn't have minded getting something from what she was doing now, but she could probably find something else which would be useful for her. "Perhaps they are just smart for a wild pokemon, often they like using the dumbest moves," Lei said dryly, "battling other trainers who knows more, is much more interesting.""Always a good idea to be prepared with the basic, but otherwise I think its just as much learning to handle the unexpected and adapt," Lei said confidently. She looked at Nate with a raised eyebrow, "and you expect you will always be able to have that ready and prepare for it? Believe me, if there is an easy solution to avoid status moves like that, the ones using them will have something ready to counter that too. No, just be glad they aren't as affective and then we can endure them when used against us as well."She grinned excitedly when Nate aired the idea of them having a battle against each other at some point, "I'd love that, and hopefully at a time where we have something more than Tackle in our arsenal!""What? What are you doing? Didn't you want to catch it?" Lei exclaimed surprised, "what are you waiting for? You might risk knocking it out, or that it knocks our pokemon out! I thought you wanted to try catch it now, and that's why I thought it safe to send in Flynn."She clenched her jaw uncertainly and annoyed, she was sure the pokeball would have caught the pokemon by now and they could go looking for something else of interest. "It's good it used harden and didn't attack," Lei grumbled, it gave them an extra round, "Flynn, Water Gun, but keep it weak!""It's hypothetical! Didn't you just say you two were still getting to know each other? But you haven't answered my question, he might not directly order you to battle, but what if one of your team members, or future team members are hotheaded and attacks unprovoked and then gets into trouble? That's what I'm asking about, what will you do! Not if you think Nate would order you to one thing or another!" Flynn argued and grinned, "that's the fun part!"He paused to look at Blasty and frowned as he talked about strong and weak pokemon, "What? I don't understand.."The oshawott forgot it a moment later as he tried to get the attention of the staryu, he let his arms drop and stared in disbelief at the yellow water type. "Really? You call that a water move?""What?" Flynn called with a frown at the staryu, "why we help the humans? Why not?" He stroke a pose, "The defender of the weak! Seeker of excitement and travelers of the whole world!" He declared proudly to the starfish and then glanced back at Lei and loudly whispered to the staryu as if it was a secret, "I mean, have you seen them? No fur, no shells and no moves, really, what can they do without us?" He winked to the staryu. "And I haven't been as free as while being with humans! Traveling! Exploring! Meeting new folks and places! Adventure and not a care in the world! Always a nice place to sleep and no worry for the next meal!" He sold his opinion of being a trainer pokemon the best he had learned. He gave Lei a thumps up at her order and made the smallest Water Gun he ever had, just big enough to reach the staryu but not much else. (ooc: Flynn uses Water Gun )

The Staryu paused as it tried to understand what Flynn was telling it. Did humans offer so much for Pokemon that it was worth protecting them? They did look weak in comparison. As the sea start spun around and craned its brown bodice backwards so that its red gem could get a better ‘look’ at Leilani and Nate, it had to agree with Flynn’s analysis. Both of them looked weak and pathetic in comparison to even the baby water Pokemon that battled at their sides. “Hiyah…HIYAH!” It murmured, before spinning back around and pointing one of its arms at the Squirtle and Oshawott respectively. This was the wild! Only the strong survive! Hiyah hi!” Why would you protect a whole species that wasn’t strong enough on its own? Why not let nature take its course?? The speedy Staryu had enough talk for the moment, though. It would leap up in the air and begin to spin dramatically around. As soon as the Pokemon landed on the ground, it kept spinning. It spun rapidly around the two Pokemon in a near death spiral, always getting closer to its target. When the two provided the room, the Staryu would weave in and out between the two baby water types. Then, without warning, it would slam against Blasty, sending the shelled turtle to fly up into the air before landing against the ground with a loud thud. “Hiyah!” It swore that it would teach these baby Pokemon that they made an error in helping these ‘humans’. “Hiyah hi!” Time for them to learn why only the strong survived! Blasty and Oshawott seemed to work together for the moment. As the bright blue sea otter with his large white head and arms called the sea star’s attention, Staryu would spin to ‘stare’ at Flynn with its red gem. Then, the otter would spray the other Pokemon with a large jet of water it propelled from its mouth. As soon as the Staryu managed to shake it off, Blasty came rushing at it from behind. The shelled Squirtle would pull itself inside of its shell as soon as it neared the sea star and slam against the back of the Pokemon with as powerful of a Tackle as it could muster. The sea star pushed itself up slowly but determinedly, as it began turning this way and that to look from one Pokemon to the other. “Hi…yah..hi…” There was no way that humans could make Pokemon stronger…was there? Nate glanced at Lei from the corner of his eye as he listened to what she had to say about people teaching the same Pokemon multiple HM's. "That is true. Personally if a water type Pokemon is better physically over specially then it is a good idea to teach it Waterfall since it would increase the power of it from being a water type Pokemon, but then there is also a chance of flinching the opponent if it is slower than your Pokemon. So there are pro's over sharing the moves over multiple Pokemon." He simply shrugged. "I just mean that if everyone is working to complete the pokedex for the Professor then multiple people are going to capture the same Pokemon for him. The only difference from one Pokemon sent to the Professor to the next would be their moves, their personality and their abilities. I just thought that the Professor's from the different regions just don't communicate with each other and that is why new species are only discovered when either trainer's travel to the new region, or trainers from the region travel to one of the previous regions. For example, I have only travelled through parts of Sinnoh, Hoen, Kanto and Johto, so does that mean Pokemon not found in those regions are newly discovered just because I have never seen them before. Or does it mean that they are old Pokemon?" Nate did have to wonder what Lei thought about his thoughts. He smiled gently when he heard about his Scatterbug being fairly rare for the region. "I was lucky to receive Luck, but at some point I am sure her trainer is going to want to have her back." Nate looked on confused. "But Staryu's are fairly basic Pokemon. So could be why why people aren't catching them."
"Especially since then you could pick up strategies that you never thought of using before or even combos in a double battle." Nate did like to watch battles on the television. "You never know when inspiration will strike you."
"Calm down. I wasn't very confident that I would be able to capture the Staryu and was afraid that if both Luck and Leafshade would have fainted the Pokemon. So it was better to weaken it with Blasty and your Oshawott since they appear to be weaker than our bug types." He knew it was a risky manoeuvre to do as he had no idea if either of their water type Pokemon would have survived a attack from the Staryu. "It was all part of the plan." Nate smiled as he was trying to keep the atmosphere light.
'We are still getting to know each other. But I am not blind and I can tell that he cares for all of us. None of my current team members are hot headed and would attack on their own. But there is Captain Ferret who attacked Nate during their first encounter due to a misunderstanding so anything is possible. Nate likes to use his weaker Pokemon first so that he can train them up so of course eventually I may have to battle a Pokemon when the other Pokemon cannot defeat them.' 'Don't worry about it.' Blasty said simply.
Blasty wasn't really impressed with the Oshawott's attitude towards the Staryu over using the water type moves, since they would have been much stronger against the two bug type Pokemon who were previously out.
Nate threw the pokeball in his hand at the Staryu hoping to capture it to add it to his PC.

Lei frowned and glanced at Nate when he talked about what type of moves would be good for water pokemon, she couldn't see how that was connected with her complaining about HM's. She smirked and shrugged, and let it fly, it didn't matter anyway. Lei stared at Nate blankly, "I never thought I would say it, but you think that is all there is to pokemon? If The professor just wanted to register the moves they could learn, they wouldn't need more than a couple of each or so. From what I have heard it is because they kept finding out new stuff about pokemon. New places they live, new ways they behave, didn't the change the tying on some of the pokemon ones since they categorized them wrong at first? I'm pretty sure magnemite was one of them, when they learned it would be more correct with it being dual types rather than mono, how do you think they figured that out?" Lei asked with a smile. It wasn't like she cared that much about the work the professors did, but she liked getting the results when it made it easier for her in battles, and she liked getting paid for her work. "Of course its only new to you, it's not like the other regions are newly discovered when you hear about them. People are living there already after all and they know about the pokemon living around there," Lei said as a matter of fact, that couldn't even be a question. "But! What we discover on this island is new I'm sure! I haven't looked much into it but the few rumors I have heard about the region is that this place is seen as practical impossible to get to, so the professor will be thrilled to any information we can give him about what lives here and if there is any difference between the pokemon living here on the island, and the ones back on the mainland. Some pokemon change depending on the area they live in you know," she explained and added, "even if staryus are basic and boring, they still aren't used much, which means the professor don't know much about them since not many have them registreret."
Lei nodded, agreeing with Nate that you learned most in battles with other trainers. She had watched battles in the tv as kid and pretended to be Champion or Kahuna as she did her best to mimic what she had seen, but she had outgrown that a long time ago.
"Yes yes, they would have beaten it and chased it away, but these two are not strong at all, they won't last long," she grumbled but more calmly, "but I tried to tell you, that I was sure you didn't needed to weaken it anymore. You need to tell me plans like this as I thought you were going to throw that pokeball right away, you were really lucky it didn't attack when they were sent in, they might not have endured that," Lei said sternly. She waved her hand impatiently, "just throw that pokeball and get over with it."
Flynn's mouth fell open when he heard what the staryu had to say. "Because the life is so much easier and much more fun when we work together!" He declared with a grin, "We protect them and they feed us and help us make us strong, and takes us places we'd never would have been able to visit otherwise" He looked surprised and stared in wonder as the staryu jumped into the air and then came down spinning, his eyes widened. "Blasty! Run!" He shouted a warning as he ran to one side to try avoid the five fingered water type, Blasty was too slow and the thud made Flynn realize he wasn't the target and turn around worriedly. "Are you alright Blasty?" Flynn called and immediately sent a water gun after the staryu, he had tried to make it small but his wish to get this one away from Blasty made it stronger than he anticipated. Not that it bothered the rather strong staryu much. Blasty's tackle didn't do much more, Flynn looked back at the humans to see what they planned, it wouldn't be easy for them to take this one down. "Tail Whip, Flynn," Lei ordered to give him something to do if necessary, the oshawott was glad to see the pokeball in Nate's hand.

~ ~ The sea star was already caught in a whirlwind. Both a whirlwind of emotions and a physical whirlwind as its body spiraled dangerously across the ground around it. The brown echinoderm kicked up rocks and rubble in its wake as it tore across the ground. Water and sand sprayed in different directions, and muddied dirt created a thin coat against the Staryu’s five long arms. Even though it managed to come crashing against Blasty fullforce, it couldn’t seem to stop itself as it spiraled out of control. It was fast. Like a lightning bolt surging from the heavens above to the grounds below, it spun. But like a car whose breaks had been cut long before the engine started, it didn’t seem to know how to stop. “Hiyah!” It cursed, spiraling around them in a threatening display. “Hiyah hi!” Why did they want to attack it and its friends?! The Staryu needed to know. Did they delight on being bullies of the sea?! “Hiyah hi yah yahhi!” The echinoderm promised that there would be more Pokemon just like it, but stronger and fiercer than either of the sea stars that had arrived before it. The Staryu promised – beyond all promises – that vengeance for itself and its friends would be sought out against Flynn, Blasty, and their friends. It cursed and spewed emptied threats, all while spiraling between them, around them, and over them in a out-of-control spiral. A small ball with a bright red top and white bottom spiraled through the air. Although the Staryu was faster than the ball, it would seem that the Pokeball’s mark was sure and true. As it bounced against the spiraling Pokemon, the two hemispheres of the dome-shaped device would crack open. A bright red beam of light would shoot forth from the center of the Pokeball and wrap itself around the echinoderm, sucking the sea star inside of the device. It landed on the ground with a soft thud, wiggling back and forth several times before letting out a resounding ding of victory. SUCCESS!!
