A loud splash caught her attention as Hook... fell into the water? Trixie gasped and reached over to help him out, but the frantic little crocodile managed to kick his way to the edge and scramble back onto dry land. "Dile-dile-dile!" he blubbered incoherently, the Ground-type seemingly on the verge of tears, if only they were not made of water and therefore needed to be avoided at all costs. He would not cry! He would remain a strong and mighty pirate captain, even in the face of this loathsome foe!

Something pulled its way up from the depths of the pool. As it unfolded itself, Trixie could see it was a Staryu. No Pokedex needed for this one - she'd seen plenty of Starmie on the contest circuit, though she had never been able to observe one in a wild habitat before. The Staryu leapt up into the air and spun around, spraying droplets all over Trixie and Hook, the latter of whom panicked even more and scrambled behind his trainer, so she took the brunt of it.

Then the Staryu clasped the gem in the center of its chest with two arms and... "HYAH! HYAH!"

Was it... laughing?

Trixie couldn't help but let out a giggle. It was pretty funny, the way that it turned out Hook had been pranked.

"I--I'm sure it didn't mean anything by it," she said, patting the desert croc on the head in an attempt to calm it down. Hook's facial expression showed that he was quite peeved indeed - possibly more than she'd ever seen him in her life, and this wasn't the first time he'd been on the receiving end of a prank. That was part of the reason why he was out with her today, so he could grow stronger, and maybe he wouldn't be afraid of quite so many things anymore.

"HYAH! HYAH!" The Staryu was still beside itself at how funny it was.

"You know, this just makes me want to catch you even more," Trixie said, reaching into her backpack. This was a Pokemon she could train, and whose worse impulses she could... harness in a more productive direction. The Staryu realized this too late. It quickly straightened itself out and attempted to adopt a threatening posture, but a Net Ball was already sailing through the air towards it. It caught the Staryu right on its red jewel and sucked the Pokemon inside, whereupon the shaking commenced.

The staryu had the time of its life, it had had such hard time waiting patiently until the right time (when Hook looked away), but it had succeeded and it had made the best prank it ever had. They surely would think it was a genius and stay around to see more of what it could do, even Hook whom it was sure had found it hilarious as well.
"Harm? How can a bit of water harm anything? A healthy dip is the best which could happen on a day like this! You wouldn't like to dry up!" It answered Trixie cheerfully, "right gal?" It called to Hook and took a step to the side to free the way to the water, "I won't hold you back!"

It laughed some more and waved dismissively at Trixie, "if you want to catch my heart, you'll have to show me what you can do," it chuckled but took a more alert and battle ready stance when Trixie stood up and pulled something unknown from her bag.
It saw the colorfull rock and relaxed a bit, "what's that? Something I should do a trick with? That'd be easy, how should that win me over?"
The ball sailed through the air and the staryu hit it with a water gun and sent it straight up. It leaned back, its crystal flashing as it kept an eye on it, when it began falling down again, it looked at Trixie, and shot a glance at Hook, "ready for a show?" It asked secretly and then spun off to meet the ball right in the middle.
Had it been a rock as it expected, there is no saying what it would have done with it, but now, it just got sucked inside and only the net ball came back down.
