Operation: Spelunking and Training (Biking)

As soon as the Geodude appeared Kevin knew it was not going to be a great Pokemon for any of his younger Pokemon to battle as they were known for their sturdy nature and tough physical defense as well as their ability to increase their already high defense even further. At the same time he knew he could always make use of breeding Geodude and at such a decent level any of his younger Pokemon could gain a few levels by acting as bait while he tried to capture it. Though any of them could benefit Jumbo could benefit the most so he decided to give the young Cufant the chance to act as bait yet again hoping her trunk would prove to be a great distraction.

" Jumbo my dear, I could use your help again here. Your trunk has been such a large help so far and I do believe it will be a huge help again here. Could I get you to dance with your trunk again for this Geodude while I try to capture it?" Without hesitation the young Cufant stepped forward and stood right in front of Geodude before staring the wild Pokemon right in the eyes for a few seconds before she started her lovely trunk dance trying to distract Geodude for as long as she could. While she did that Kevin grabbed an Ultra Ball from his backpack.

With the Ultra Ball in hand he watched Jumbo enjoying her dance while Geodude did not seem to be paying any attention to him for the time being. He slowly walked towards Jumbo to try and close the distance between him and Geodude as much as he could wanting to give the rock like Pokemon as little chance to escape from the capture attempt as possible. Once he was right next to Jumbo he wound up a pitch and tossed the Ultra Ball as hard as he could while Jumbo was still swinging her trunk back and forward. As he waited to see if the strategy would work yet again Oracle and Samantha keep a close watch on Barb and Corporal Crusty just in case either Pokemon got jumped by something else while Kevin dealt with the Geodude.

" I can sense another Pokemon approaching, I bet it will be here really soon. I hope this capture plan works again so this does not become a two on one battle against poor Jumbo." Oracle said as she started to worry as whatever the approaching Pokemon was did not seem too far off.




OOC: Jumbo is sent out and Kevin tosses a Ultra Ball. Using my mod bar to increase her level gain by 1 but not updating the bar until another mod confirms.

Just as the Geodude was captured without issue the Pokemon Oracle sensed approaching made it's appearance known as a large blue fist punched a massive hole in the wall right in front of the young Lucario. Kevin was stunned by the power of the creature ahead of him as few Pokemon could punch through a rock in one punch so easily yet alone with such a strange build that it had. " Well I'll be a Mankey's uncle, what in the world is a Crabrawler doing in this cave? They are more of a beach or beach side cave Pokemon not usually this far inland until they evolve. Whatever it is doing here I would love to capture it as they are quite a special species." At first Samantha and Oracle stepped forward however Kevin quickly called upon Corporal Crusty to handle it instead.

" As much as I would love to see what either of you could do to a Crabrawler I think Corporal Crusty is perfect this this battle as we do not want to knock the poor creature out. I doubt we will encounter another anytime soon." As the young Dwebble stepped forward the massive size difference had both Oracle and Samantha worried as one of the crab Pokemon's fist was almost half the size of the poor young Dwebble but she showed no fear as she approached the foe. Kevin planned on taking advantage of the level advantage she had to cause enough damage to ensure a capture after the first attack.

If for some reason his plan backfired he knew her Sturdy ability would allow her to endure the first round no matter what so he knew he could afford the risk once. " Corporal Crusty, I would like you to try and use your Bug Bite on one of Crabrawler's fists, it should hurt it just enough to make capturing it easy. Just be careful as those fists can deliver quite a blow." Once she had her orders she slowly crawled along the cave floor making her way towards the crab Pokemon while opening her mouth revealing a small set of teeth. It was hardly intimidating but she wanted to prove just how deceitful looks could be.

Once she was in range she started to make her attack as Kevin and the others looked on hoping the plan would pan out. Kevin grabbed a Ultra Ball and got ready to toss it hoping that the combo of damage and Ultra Ball would be too much for Crabrawler to overcome.

As Kevin's plan worked out perfectly he was very happy to capture such an odd Pokemon. He never dreamed he would run into a Crabrawler so early into his adventures in the Johto region but he could not complain at all as such a unique species would easily fit on his team with a bit of training. Though there was plenty about the species he did not know he did know of the rather odd way they evolved. " Now all we need is a Ice Stone and our new friend will be all set. Crabrawler might not be as fast as as Eiskalt but they do become part ice type when they evolve and will make a great teammate for her so she will not have to handle every grass and flying type we encounter."

Since he had no way to obtain a Ice Stone for now he knew it would be best to focus on the rest of the younger Pokemon on his team but he knew the moment he obtained one he had to use it on their new friend. Before Kevin could even try and come up with a name for their new Crabrawler he could hear the sound of something else approaching that could only be described as a series of punches against something hard. A few seconds later another hole appeared in another section of the cave wall revealing another Crabrawler who must have been friends with the first one. Kevin felt as though he hit the lottery encountering a second one.

" There must be a Crabrawler swarm right now there is no other way to explain this, since lady luck has been so fortunate no point in turning down a spare. I do wonder if our friend Marchbaby has run into one yet? If not it might make a nice gift for the young lad at least until he is able to get more dragon types." While he still tried to come up with a name for the other Crabrawler he sent Corporal Crusty to handle the new one hoping she would do just as good this time as she had prior. " Corporal Crusty do me a favor and use Bug Bite on this Crabrawler as well. I will then toss another Ultra Ball. Hopefully our combo works again as it went over great last time."

As the young Dwebble started to make her move Kevin finally came up with a name for the Crabrawler he already captured." I think I will call her Opie." He whispered to himself as he turned his attention to the ongoing battle.

Just as Kevin had said, another Crabrawler emerged from the cavern depths. Maybe seeking its recently captured kin, or perhaps in search of battle? It mattered very little, as Corporal Crusty's bite landed true, as did the hurled Ultra Ball. The Crabrawler had barely enough time to get off even a Leer before being captured by the ball. After a moment of shaking, the capture was complete.

As Kevin secured a second Crabrawler he was quite happy to have gotten such a lucky break. He knew such an odd Pokemon would make for a great gift but before he could even start to celebrate the familiar sound of a wall being punched caught his attention. " Don't tell me a third Crabrawler is here, we must have stumbled on the main nest of a swarm if that is the case. Corporal Crusty it looks like you will be busy again." Seconds later the all too familiar blue fist of a Crabrawler appeared from a hole in another wall before the rest of the crab Pokemon came into view after a final punch obliterated the rest of the wall.

The fighting type Pokemonhad clearly come to pick a fight like the others before it and Kevin knew he had to try and capture this one as well as he knew such a strange Pokemon would certainly be useful to someone and there was no point in letting a uncommon Pokemon go to waste. " I wonder what caused this swarm of Crabrawler to choose this cave of all places to call their temporary home? I still cannot believe our luck at finding so many of them so quickly. I hope this one does not give us too much trouble to capture either." As he reached into his backpack to grab a Ultra Ball Kevin quickly located another one and grabbed it with a firm grip before giving Corporal Crusty the order to attack.

" Corporal Crusty like before I do believe we need to soften Crabrawler up a bit before we try and capture it and if the past two battles have been any indicator your Bug Bite should be perfect for this situation." After giving the young Dwebble her orders he watched as she slowly made her way towards the crab Pokemon. Her tiny legs made it a slow process however after a lot of effort she finally got within range to strike her foe. Kevin knew if he timed things right he would have a very good chance of securing this Crabrawler as well.

" I sure hope this plan pans out, it has worked wonders so far but Crabrawler are not a pushover by any means. Few Pokemon in this cave would do very well against them and even Corporal Crusty will not last long if this Ultra Ball fails." He then took a deep breath and crossed his fingers hoping things would go his way.

After capturing the third Crabrawler the swarm seemed to come to an end as no more holes were punched in any of the nearby walls nor could Kevin hear anything that sounded remotely like Crabrawler anymore. Though it was a shame he did not manage to secure more of them Kevin was thrilled to secure as many as he did and he also was glad that he could focus on training again as his team still needed to grow stronger and Kevin believed he had not seen every Pokemon Union Cave had to offer yet. Seconds later a strange sound broke the eerie silence of the cave before a Roggenrola walked out from one of the holes in the wall.

" Well I'll be, Roggenrola are in this cave as well? That is quite a nice find as well. I am not sure when I will get a chance to raise it but I would love to try and capture it. Corporal Crusty do me a favor and please grab it's attention for just a moment." He said as the young Dwebble walked towards the strange rocky Pokemon and examined it. Like her it's rocky exterior was fairly hard but unlike her there was no visible organic limbs visible at all. As strange as that was Corporal Crusty wasted no time in snapping her claws in front of Roggenrola to get it's attention as Kevin fished for a Ultra Ball from his bag.

After a few minutes passed Corporal Crusty had gained Roggenrola's attention as her rhythmic snapping attracted Roggenrola as it started to sway from side to side to the beat. Once Kevin found a Ultra Ball he turned to see the two Pokemon moving in tandom and knew this was the perfect chance to capture Roggenrola before it could realize it has fallen for a trap. Kevin wound up a pitch before tossing the Ultra Ball as hard as he could as he waited to see if it would work. " Such a cute display, I do think you two will get along great if this works. Ultra Ball capture Roggenrola so we can help it grow stronger."

As the ball flew towards Roggenrola Oracle and Samantha stood close to the rest of the yonger Pokemon and watched with eager anticipation. They hoped that things would go well so the rest of the young ones could finish their training before anything else dangerous popped out.

After capturing the Roggenrola and looking at it's Pokedex entry Kevin finally realized just how special his encounter was as it turned out that it was a shiny Roggenrola. " Goodness I do not know how I did not realize this sooner butnour new friend is a shiny. That is quite a nice encounter after those three Crabrawler. We will have to train this one after we take care of the next gym. For now let's look around a bit more and see if we can find anything else before we head out." Kevin and his Pokemon then started to walk around when a loud noise brought them all to a standstill.

After pausing for a moment the ground beneath them started to shake before a large rocky snake Pokemon leaped out of the ground and landed in front of them before roaring. Oracle got ready to strike but before she could Samantha stepped forward wanting to.test her own strength against the rocky Pokemon. " Quite a tough looking Pokemon. Oracle.let me.handle.this one. I want to see if I am ready for the next gym as I already know you could easily.handle this Onix." She then looked the rocky Pokemon in the eyes and smiled before a purple glow started to surround one of her sticks.

The psychic energy did not take long to reach it's full and once it did Samantha started to focus on Onix. Her psychic powers were not as refined as her fire type moves however she knew she had to practice her magic at some point and this was a great chance to do so. " My dear Onix, it is time for me to test my.psychic powers against you. Most fire types would fear a rocky Pokemon such as yourself but a young witch like me knows a few tricks to get around your type advantage. Let's see if you can handle this Psychic attack." The purple glow then disappeared from Samantha's sticks and seconds later surrounded Onix. Samantha knew she had to perform her attack fast as Onix would.likely try to break her concentration the second it got a chance.

With the Onix completely surrounded by the mystical energy Samantha started to chant in a tongue no mortal could understand. Though Kevin could not make out the words it was clear the incantation was part of the young Braixen's psychic ritual as he looked on with great curiosity wondering what would happen next.

As Samantha knocked out the Onix in a single blow she was quite proud of her accomplishment. The Onix was a lower level.than her but she knew that they could still prove quite a threat if they were underestimated. The experience she gained from the battle was not enough to gain another level but it was still good practice for the growing Braixen. " Goodness that was quite not as hard as I thought it would be. Hopefully we do not run into a stronger one as they might be a bit harder to safely handle." Before she could say anything else a loud rumbling from deeper in the cave broke her train of thought.

The sound grew louder as it approached and before long another section of the cave wall was blown open revealing another Onix. The sight of another Onix filled Samantha with dread for a moment until she realized this one was about the same strength as the previous one. " I think this Onix is mad I knocked out it's friend. It does not seem too strong but Oracle please keep an eye out just to be safe." She then stepped forward and looked at the Onix with a determined stare before pointing one of her sticks at the rocky beast. Seconds later she started to chant again and Kevin had no doubt she was going to try and use her psychic powers again.

" Ah Samantha surely seems determined, her powers are growing stronger but until she evolves into Delphox she cannot master them. I sure hope this Onix does not give her too much trouble. She did great last time but she is taking a risk battling another Pokemon with a type advantage over her." Kevin then turned to watch as Samantha's stick started to glow purple for a few seconds before the aura surrounding it was transferred to the Onix across from her. He knew she was about to strike and watched eagerly hoping she would continue her streak against Onix.

Oracle on the other hand just hoped she would not have to get involved so Samantha could gain all of the experience from.the battle again. The young Braixen needed all the experience she could get before taking on the next gym. " Try to stay focused Samantha, I can help if needed but it will slow your own progress towards growing stronger if I have to jump.in." She said as Samantha made the final preparations to strike.

As Samantha defeated another Onix she sighed with relief that the younger Pokemon were still safe. This cave was really starting to overstay it's welcome with how many dangerous Pokemon kept appearing before the group and with both herself and Oracle getting close to being ready for the next gym Samantha knew they could not stick around much longer. " We really should head out soon so we can take on the next gym. I know the young ones still need to train but we can get a bit more breathing room if we become a bit stronger ourselves. I think we can safely handle one more battle before we leave but then we really need to move on."

As if the cave had been listening to her every word the familiar roar of a certain serpentine Pokemon came from deeper within the cave, Samantha had no doubt it was another Onix likely mad that she had defeated it's friends and was likely not very happy with her. She grabbed the last stick that was sturdy enough to use her psychic powers on and waited for the creature to appear so she could use all of her might to handle the beast before it could harm any of the younger Pokemon. Kevin watched as despite his desire to train the younger Pokemon more he knew deep down Samantha was right and unless her stick lasted through this battle moving on was going to be his only option.

" Be ready Samantha, as much as I would like to capture another Onix it is too risky for now. Keep your wits about you and use Psychic once you have acquired your target. You have been faster than the last two Onix so I do believe you should be able to do the same one more time. I sure hope we can make quick work of it so we can take on the next gym as soon as possible and then get back to training the others." As the Onix finally appeared from a narrow tunnel within the cave Samantha started to chant as a purple glow surrounded her stick before the glowing aura transferred over to the approaching Onix.

" Such a pretty glow as usual, I do sincerely hope Onix cannot get off an attack in time, Samantha is so close to getting stronger and if she wins this battle she should be caught up with me." Oracle said as she watched Samantha concentrate on her impending attack.
