Venom Cypress Rest Spirit Encounter

Even as Venom questioned the wild Pokemon of the Cypress Rest, he could sense that something very ominous was approaching him and trying to be sneaky. However, there was no surprising or scaring a highly trained ninja. Rather, Venom narrowed his eyes slightly, kept his guard up, and simply pretended not to notice. Therefore, he could get the drop on the spirit instead. As the fog began to roll in, Venom quietly told the wild Pokemon to flee the area, or they'd be in danger. As they were leaving, Venom heard the words that the spirit spoke to him loud and clear.

Naturally, the ninja wasn't even a little intimidated by the words he heard. After all, how could he be? If he failed in his mission, or ran away, a young and innocent Pokemon would die. And who knows how many others after it? So, instead of getting scared, Venom channeled the spirit's threats into determination, then made his move as soon as it was close enough. "Better idea. You surrender and tell me where the White Witch used to live or suffer Team Toxic's wrath!" A split second later, the Poison type trainer quickly turned around, grabbed one of his Poke Balls, and threw the Pokemon inside into battle. "Whirlipede, hit this ghost hard with your Pursuit attack!"

Whirlipede burst free from his orb-shaped container, and immediately glared at his opponent, spinning his round body as soon as he hit the ground and heading straight for said opponent. "This fog is nothing! You can't dodge this move! Whirlipede is coming through!" The Curlipede Pokemon declared with high levels of confidence, knowing that the move Venom called for never failed to hit its target. As this went on, Venom eyed the spirit and listened to the next batch of words it spoke. Although the spirit in question did look like a Gastly, Venom didn't go into his Poison type fanboy mode, sensing very clearly that this particular Gastly wasn't right for a number of reasons, and just glared at it instead. "No! You're the fool! I would rather die than become one of you lowly creatures! You will pay for what you've done to this forest and its Pokemon!"

The pain of the suffering Pokemon drew the Gastly like a moth to a flame. It’s large white eyes searched for the hurt Chikorita as it floated around the area. The strange land would alternate in stark darkness that drenched itself across the cypress forest. The alternating lightshow would go from brightness of the normal day, only secluded between the natural shadows of the towering canopies above, and a type of darkness that was supernatural – where no light could exist. “Ggiiivvvveee mmmeeeeee thhhheee sooouuuulll!” The Gastly laughed with an eerie cackle. It would disappear in thin air and pop back up behind Venom, then disappear and reappear just above Whirlipede, as it called out to the ninja and his Pokemon. “Jooiiinnnn thhheeee tooorrmmmeennttteeeddd ssooouuulllsss!”

Whirlipede charged across the ground at a breakneck speed, pursuing his opponent. The Gastly begged the strange, shelled bug Pokemon to follow it. The strange apparition reappeared further in the deep darkness of Cypress Rest. Whirlipede over a large, fallen branch that it used like a launch pad as it flew up high into the air. The Gastly laughed and faded in an instance, before appearing underneath the sweeping branches of a weeping willow. “Jjjoooiiinnn uuuusss whhhiirrllliiipppeeddeee!” The ghostly Pokemon cackled. The Whirlipede in hot pursuit of his opponent spun around and rammed into the other Pokemon as a thick, black darkness cloaked it. The Gastly disappeared and stayed gone for a long moment, leaving behind only an eerie shriek of pain that would haunt the land and seem to never end.

Then, without warning, the vast darkness of the Night Shade would slam into Whirlipede with all of Gastly’ energy. As a strange ghost reappeared, thick blackish-purple beams of dark energy shot out from the apparition’s eyes and slammed into Whirlipede’s side. “Ressisstannceee iisss fuuttilllee! Giiveee uuuss yyoouuurrr sooouuulll!” The Gastly shrieked at a nearly ear-splitting volume while seemingly dancing on the air itself while it levitated around the wooded Cypress Rest. It turned back to Venom expectantly, lured back towards the hurt soul of the Chikorita, and seemed to return back to its relentless search for the Pokemon. “Giiivvveeee uuusss thhheee sooouulll!” The Gastly repeated itself like a broken record.

While the Gastly's spooky tricks and creepy way of speaking might've frightened other people, Venom wasn't like most other people. Rather than getting scared, he stood his ground and stayed alert, ready to act if the Gas Pokemon made any unexpected moves against him. When Gastly suddenly appeared behind him, Venom was quick to spin around and give it a good kick. Naturally, his kick went right through the Ghost type Pokemon like it wasn't even there, but it also caused said Ghost type to vanish, which was Venom's real goal all along. "You'll never get that Chikorita's soul! And I'd never join you! You might look like a Poison type, but I know what you truly are!" Venom yelled out with plenty of anger on his face and in his voice, which went on to echo through the Cypress Rest.

When the spirit started calling out to Whirlipede, he couldn't help shivering a bit, finding all of this to be very creepy. And unfortunately for the Curlipede Pokemon, he wasn't as trained as Venom was. However, that didn't stop him from hitting Gastly hard with a super effective move, causing the spirit a great amount of agony. At least, that's what it sounded like to the poisonous pair. Then, almost immediately after Whirlipede was hit by Gastly's Night Shade attack, he started to shiver once more, still very creeped out by the very sound of Gastly's voice. "...M-Master...can we please end this battle and move on?..."

Before answering his Pokemon, Venom took a quick look around the area, as well as the current positions of both Whirlipede and Gastly. Then, as an idea formed in the ninja's head, he ran straight towards Whirlipede from behind, building up plenty of speed as he did. "Absolutely, Whirlipede! Now, get ready to fly and use Pursuit again!" At first, Whirlipede wasn't sure what Venom meant by that, but he trusted his trainer's words and prepared to attack Gastly one more time. "Whatever you say, master! I'm ready!" As soon as Venom reached Whirlipede, he used all of his strength to kick the Curlipede Pokemon like a ball, sending him flying through the air, heading straight for Gastly. "You aren't getting any souls! But you do get a trip to the next world! Now, begone!" The ninja yelled at the Gas Pokemon as loud as he could, as Whirlipede flew straight for it, his entire body filled with Dark type energy.

With another pursuit, the ghastly is sent flying against a tree. It falls to the ground with barely the energy to open its eyes.

The ghastly says with its last breath as it turns into vapor. What Venom won't realize is the vapor is actually a smokescreen allowing the severally injured ghastly a chance to retreat. The path seems clear for Venom to continue to search for the chikorita. The forest is quiet with the occasional wind blowing rustling the tree leaves. Even with the battle done, Venom can still feel like he is being watched. This is a place no one should stay in for too long of time.
