Maxwell king » Word Count: OOC: Travelling Route 34 (Encounter/Trainer), could Mandy the Vullaby be given the exp share Route 34 was the link between the exit of Ilex Forest and Goldenrod City, many trainers would frequent the route to hunt for rare pokemon exclusive to the area or get some extra training in prior to challenging the local gym leader Whitney. Max was tired and hungry as he entered the route which featured fields of tall grass,
"We'll have a quick snack and then we'll keep moving along"
Max and Crimson took solace next to a thin looking tree as Max retrieved a bag of potato chips from his backpack and begun tucking into the snack while sharing it with his partner Crimson. The pair were idly minding their own business, but in the Johto region that often was a sign of bad things to come as trainers and pokemon alike thrived off making things interesting in each and every way possible.

Goldenrod attracted trainers and travelers of all types to its reaches. While many of the trainers were gathered around the beachside and trampling through the tall grasses in the search of wild Pokemon in the area, several grouped together in large crowds and chatted excitedly to each other. A few dressed up individuals in Jerseys holding bright orangish-brown balls in their hands stood near a bench and waved back and forth towards each other. They seemed oblivious to the clouds that swelled up in the bright blue skies until only their thick grey masses would cover the heavens above. “Yo, man, that move was siiickk!” One guy with a rich reddish-brown tan and a freshly cut pompadour commented with excited eyes. Another guy with a rich sepia hue and fresh shaven head nodded as he reached out and patted one of his teammates on the back. “Yeah, man! Ya gotta show us how ya managed to land that move!” The guy they were congratulating rubbed the back of his neck and stared at the ground shyly. “Nah, man, I’m just tryna be like you!” He laughed. They would continue to talk about their next game and how they would be able to fight against the rivaling team when the first drops of rain sprinkled from the thick thunderstorm clouds above. A loud cackle ripped through the clouds, and within seconds heavy rains poured down. Many of the people that frequented the routes jumped up and ran in different directions, with many scattering their way up the route towards Goldenrod City to try and quickly duck inside of the many shops and buildings within the city. The Basketball team tilted their heads up and scowled as they seemed to swear underneath their voice. “Ah, man! This sucks!” The guy with the pompadour complained, immediately slinging his back over his shoulders. He turned and walked in a hurried stride towards Goldenrod. “I just spent good money at the barber, too!” He grimaced. His team followed close behind, save for the one everyone had been congratulating. “That’s ok! Hey, let’s hurry up into the city! I heard there’s a sick café with bombing sandwiches!” One team member told Mr. Pompadour. “That right? Bet!” The other guy smiled brightly. “Hurry up, Daquan!” One of them called back, to witch the recently congratulated dude simply waved them off as he gathered his things slowly. “Yeah, yeah…guys. I’m comin’, I’m comin’! Cool ya jets!” He shouted back, grumbling under his breath. After he managed to gather all his things, he turned and began heading up the winding pathway that led into the heart of Goldenrod. The Basketball Star paused when he noticed Maxwell and his horned lizard huddled under a tree eating a bag of chips. He strolled over with his hands shoved into his shorts pocket. “Hey, man….uh…I’m sure ya saw but…it’s pourin’. Are ya lookin’ for something out here, or just lost ya way to Goldenrod?” He asked, pulling out a Pokeball to twirl between his fingers in case Maxwell would like to battle. Basketball Star Daquan is challenging you to a fight! Daquan is sending out his Level 23 Sizzlipede. Who will Maxwell use? Rain weather will be in effect

Maxwell king » Word Count: OOC: A CHALLENGE FOR MAX AND HIS CREW! JUPITER USES CHARGE AND THUNDERBOLT! Much as Max's instincts had told him something was bound to go wrong, it did exactly that as the weather took a 360 degree turn for the worse. What started out as a light sprinkle of rain at first quickly developed into heavy drops of rain that bucketed down from the skies above as loud cackles could be heard rippling through the thick thunderstorm clouds that have moved in above. The tree that Max and Crimson had taken solace under to snack out and replenish their energy didn't serve to protect them much, thankfully however the fire type lizard pokemon's burning flame on the end of its tail provided the pair a temporary source of warmth, it was clear however from the discomfort painted on Crimson's face that this weather was not doing him any favors.
"Let's get going Crimson, no use of us loitering around in this weather, getting sick will only slow the both of us down "
Before Max and Crimson could follow the winding pathway that led to Goldenrod City, they were approached by a guy wearing what appeared to be a basketball singlet with his hands shoved into his short pockets. The fellow likely meant well in his questioning to Max, however the male young adult noticed the guy pick a pokeball out of his pocket and twirl it between his fingers, that was more than enough for the fashionable Maxwell to assume his intentions were to source out a battle, regardless of the shocking weather that now littered the route and left the pair of them soaked,
"Well I actually just escaped from that damned maze of a forest and was having a snack break, but I guess the weather isn't the only thing that's trying to rain on my parade"
Max motioned for Crimson to stand back, leaving his alpha male pokemon to stay warm close to the tree in case the basketball singlet guy had a trick or two up his sleeve. The fellow didn't look overly bright, however judging a book by its cover was something Max was quickly learning would be a bonafide mistake in waiting so far throughout his Johto region journey. Max retrieved a red and white pokeball from his belt buckle, specifically the one with a lightning bolt etched into the front of it. Max tossed the spherical device into the air and emerging from the beaming red light came the pink scarf wearing Jupiter the Flaaffy. The ever bubbly sheep pokemon was so confused at why she had been released from her pokeball as she looked back to Max for clarification. Jupiter's answer came shortly thereafter as her short attention span snapped over to the basketball guy who had since released his pokemon from its pokeball, it was a battle that her trainer had signed her up for, another fun outing for her, albeit this time it was a bit wet underfoot,
"Alright Jupiter, I thought we'd left all of the bugs behind in the forest but apparently some just like to hang on a little longer, I need you to stay switched on so full focus for me on this one please! Use your Charge attack to prepare for a deadly Thunderbolt attack and let's light this insect up"

Daquan wiped the rain off of his face and turned to stare at the road behind them that Maxwell must have traveled down. Ilex had earned many names in its lifetime, none of which were synonymous with ‘simple’ or ‘easy’. “Word?!” The Basketball player asked Maxwell with an interested look and a wide grin. “Musta been some tough opponents in there, huh young buck?” The sepia toned player commented as he scratched the bottom of his chin thoughtfully. “Been a minute since I been in there, and you been in there a good minute, I bet!” He added as he tossed the ball up into the air, before catching it and pressing the button in its center. A long, flattened looking red centipede with small flames on its face that looked like a mustache appeared. The Pokemon stretched out tall and smiled brightly as it shook itself, then grimaced with an ugly scowl as the rain poured down on them from above. “Siiizzzzlllllleeee!” It whined, and thrashed a bit as if it were throwing a tantrum. “We’re gunna bring the heat to ya, young buck, so don’t be scared. Ok? Hey…hey…Heat, it’s ok! Just a lil rainwater that’s all. C’mon, now show me ya courage!” The Sizzlipede reluctantly calmed down and turned to its opponents. “Remember they’re playin’ with the big boys now!” As Juniper charged up her energy, the centipede dropped down on all of its feet to crouch in the tall grasses that were near the normally manicured trail. Daquan smirked. “Atta boy, Heat! Ya found ya moxie!” Daquan clapped enthusiastically for his Pokemon. “Now rush over there and give that sheep a nasty Bug Bite!” Sizzlipede struck out, scurrying across the ground on his many feet. Heat would gently encircle Jupiter in his coiled form before stretching out behind her and biting down between her ears on the back of her head. “Yo, boy, get outta there quick! Don’t ya see the fireworks?!” Daquan snapped as soon as Jupiter spun around with large bolts of electricity discharging in different directions from her wool. The jolly sheep smiled as she fired off a powerful electric blast that knocked the centipede back nearly ten feet across the ground through the pouring rains. “Maaann! What a show, young buck!” Daquan smirked, pulling free another Pokeball. “Let’s turn up, Morhys! Young buck’s got quite the power punchers on his team!” Daquan called out a tall purple mushroom with a long, thin white body from her Pokeball with the click of a button. Maxwell king » Word Count: OOC: Switching in Crimson and using Flamethrower! Comparative to Maxwell's body language, Daquan was a ball of energy, the man clearly loved hearing the sound of his own voice, he was his own number one supporter. Max was sure that he could count the sepia toned basketball player's collective IQ with the fingers on his hand just from the way he spoke.
"Look mate, no hard feelings but the sooner this is over and done with, the sooner we both get out of this weather and I can get something proper to eat "
Max's patience had clearly dwindled over the course of the day, the basketball player wasn't wrong in his assessment as to how long Maxwell had spent in Ilex Forest, the male young adult had his team had been in the maze like woods for a substantial amount of time.
Daquan's Sizzlipede didn't offer much of a fight to Jupiter, it's Bug Bite attack had hit the mark but didn't look to affect the bubbly pink sheep pokemon a great deal. The dangerously powerful electric type attack that followed signaled a short stay on the makeshift battlefield for Heat the Sizzlipede.
"This whole squishing bugs thing is getting old fast"
Being called young buck was wearing thin on Max's patience, if he wasn't going to be shown respect he certainly wasn't going to return it. Maxwell watched as Daquan released a tall purple mushroom pokemon with a long, thin white body from its pokeball. Maxwell had never actually seen or heard of the pokemon that Daquan referred to as Morhys but his instincts told him that Jupiter wasn't the right combatant for the next section of the battle that was about to begin,
"Take a beat seat now form Jupiter, Crimson will take it from here"
Jupiter wasn't phased by her short stint in battle, at this point each of her battles were short and swift with barely a scratch to show at the conclusion. Max returned Jupiter back into her pokeball so as to avoid the shocking weather that continued to downpour on them. Crimson lowered his go-goggles over his face as he stepped forward to face the mushroom pokemon that was across from him, it was go time,
"Alright Crimson, time to heat things up with your Flamethrower attack"

The rain droned on. Large blasts of lightning lit up the skies as the thunder roared above, shaking the world around them. Daquan scratched the back up his neck as Maxwell spoke and wondered what the guy’s problem was? As the rain soaked through Daquan’s uniform and caused the thin cotton material to stick to his body and carve out his frame, he nodded his head with a heavy sigh. Such was the way of younger trainers, always wanting the world to work around them and unable to withstand a little bad weather every once in a while. “Can’t handle your water?” He laughed with a shrug before casting a glance up to the thick grey clouds above, then turning to Morhys with a knowing smile. “Morhys, young buck says we need to lace up! Put the skates under our feet, ya know?!” The large pink Pokemon bobbed and swayed as he stood firm in front of his opponent. As the alpha Pokemon stepped up to the plate, Morhys’ blank black eyes seemed to stare with the same dumbfounded smile that never seemed to waver from his face. Morhys nodded back and forth, and as he did so the large plume of a head swayed from one side to the other. At times, Morhys might have seemed like he would topple over to one of the sides as his large purple mushroom head tilted in a helter-skelter fashion. “Shhiinnnnoooo!” The Shiinotic spoke in a strange, cheery voice. The Shiinotic began to glow with an almost eerie, dream-like yellow hue as he waited for Daquan to give him his first command. “Use Sleep Powder, Morhys!” Daquan instructed with a bright, cheerful boom right after he heard Maxwell give his Pokemon its command. “Listen, I feel ya…” Daquan reassured Maxwell as the Shiinotic stood still while Maxwell’s bright red horned lizard began to build his flaming embers at the tip of his tongue. “Ain’t tryna float away in a flash flood, huh? I just wanted to know a new face. Ya seemed lost, ya feel me? And, bein’ the helpful sort I am, I figured what’s it hurt to meet a fresh pair of eyes around here?” Crimson fired the flaming embers from mouth and almost lit everything around them on fire with the impact. The fires immediately scorched the large white mushroom, who dropped immediately and rolled about on the ground to put out the flames. As Morhys did so, he began to puff up and release spores that floated up into the air and spread all around himself and Crimson. Crimson began to cough and hack as the spores settled deep inside of his lungs. Crimson yawned loudly and pushed himself up onto his feet. Though, he would begin to stagger around as the effects of the spores began to dig into his veins and slowly lull the fire breathing reptile to sleep. “Now, look who isn’t getting the led out, huh?” Daquan laughed as he pointed to Maxwell’s Crimson. The horned lizard began to curl up in the middle of the battlefield and began snoring as he slept peacefully in the middle of their fight. “Guess it’s true what they say. A hard head makes for a soft tail!” Daquan shrugged and nodded approvingly to his own Pokemon. Shiinotic waved his body back and forth excitedly as Daquan applauded his Pokemon's efforts. Maxwell king » Word Count: OOC: Max uses Full heal on crimson and crimson prepares a flamethrower attack The wild weather that consumed the route separating Ilex Forest from Goldenrod City showed absolutely no signs of slowing down let alone improving. Daquan was way too happy go lucky personality wise that it was genuinely wearing thin on Maxwell's patience, the male young adult was sure that the basketball players goody-two-shoes like nature was definitely all for show. Instead of responding to Daquan's subtle verbal jab, Max decided to take his own not so subtle jab in order to get under his opponents skin,
"So what made you decide to become a pokemon trainer? Couldn't crack the NBA?"
A cheeky smirk was fixated on Maxwell's face, warfare was as physical as it was mental and winning was the highest of his priorities. Crimson's presence on the make-shift battlefield commanded respect, the alpha pokemon stood tall with his gaze locked onto Daquan's tall purple mushroom pokemon.
The engagement between the two combatants soon followed as Crimson's dangerously powerful Flamethrower attack nearly fried the long, thin white bodied pokemon to a crisp as it rolled around on the ground to put out the flames. Spores filled the surrounding air as Crimson could be heard coughing and hacking, trying to fight off the effects of the status inflicting move that Daquan's Shiinotic had utilized, Soon enough Crimson curled up in the middle of the battlefield and began snoring as he slept peacefully in the middle of the fight, much to Max's dismay,
"No time for resting on the job Crimson"
Max had moved quickly to retrieve a yellow spray bottle that contained status relieving medicine, the appearance driven male moved closer to his partner pokemon and begun to spray. An attack was sure to soon follow in response to Max's actions so he quickly retreated from the scene after finishing spraying the content of the bottle onto Crimson,
"Back into Crimson, scorch that mushroom with your Flamethrower, make sure to finish it this time"

Daquan’s eyes narrowed suspiciously on Maxwell as his usually happy-go-lucky smile faded from his lips. The rain poured on and only seemed to make things worse as the two Pokemon battled it out in the weather. While Crimson slept peacefully, he seemed to somehow cling to his tail and protect it from the rain that raged from the heavens above. “Young buck, listen.” Daquan spoke in a serious tone as he studied Maxwell carefully. “Never diss a man’s occupation, got it? That’s a surefire way to burn bridges.” He then pointed to his jersey that had the image of a Magby spitting flames up into the air with a basketball spinning on top of it. The shirt read ‘Cinnabar Heat. 24’ “Morhys, don’t hurt young buck. Let ‘em heal up his snoring lizard all he likes.” Daquan warned the Shiinotic, who stood poised and still for a second while watching Maxwell rush in to give the Pokemon the Full Heal. Daquan scratched his chin and shook off the pool of water that immediately transferred from his face to his hands after doing so. He needed to determine the best course of his strategy, and fast. Though, the best option was keeping the lizard at bay to ensure that it couldn’t strike them…and Daquan couldn’t guarantee that Morhys’ Sleep Powder would work again. “Ok, use Confuse Ray!” He snapped his fingers and pointed at Crimson as the large fire lizard began to wake up and stood back up. “D’ya like sports?” Daquan asked Maxwell genuinely. “I got some tickets to our next event. We’re facin’ Goldenrod Taurus’ tomorrow! I’ll give you a free ticket if you’d like.” Daquan promised, trying to smooth over whatever tension seemed to have crawled up underneath Maxwell’s rear end. Maybe it was just the weather? Maybe it was something Daquan had said? Though, it wasn’t like the Basketball Player didn’t make plenty of jabs himself in, as he considered it, ‘good fun’. Morhys shot sinister rays out at Crimson, causing the lizard to immediately become confused and stumble around. Crimson managed to fight through it, though, as he fired a powerful blast of fire at his opponent. When the Shiinotic toppled over from exhaustion, Daquan recalled him and unleashed his last Pokemon. “Well, Shock, it’s up to you now!” Trainer Battle Weather: Raining [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Morhys ♂ LV 24 HP 0% [0/70]

Maxwell king » Word Count: OOC: Switching to anubis the riolu and using bulldoze! The serious tone that emanated from Daquan's voice clearly showed that Max had gotten to Daquan mentally, akin to that of a bug crawling under the surface of the skin. Max was all too happy to be a pest, after all he had just beaten the walking encyclopedia of bug type pokemon Bugsy in a gym littered with bug type pokemon and then progressed through the maze that was Ilex Forest and littered by bug type pokemon.
"Cinnabar Heat hey, you can't seem to handle it very well, guess we're lucky it's practically raining frogs so you won't need to worry about cooling down"
As Maxwell finished spraying the contents of the full heal bottle onto Crimson, the fire type lizard slowly rose from his short-lived slumber and returned to his feet like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Max was fairly surprised that Daquan had held off his Shiinotic from taking advantage of the situation and instead tried to extend an olive branch in order to mend the bridge that the two were burning between each other like a raging inferno. Max had the clear upper hand in the battle and with it he was allowed extra time to consciously look within himself, he was being a downright negative nancy and all that Daquan was trying to do was be a nice guy, despite the different way he went about things,
"Never had the chance to watch sports let alone play one"
Crimson had not long rose from his quick nap to soon be lulled into a state of confusion as the sinister rays shot out by Daquan's Shiinotic cause the fire type lizard pokemon to stumble around beyond his own control. The go-goggle wearing alpha pokemon miraculously managed to fight his way through the confusion and unleash a powerful blast of fire towards Daquan's mushroom pokemon. A direct hit that was likely what the kids these days would call 'overkill' as the Shiinotic toppled over onto the ground in pure and utter exhaustion. The basketball player quickly moved to recall his fainted pokemon and then proceeded to release 'Shock' the Elekid, his final combatant onto the makeshift battlefield,
"Jeez an electric type hey, that's shocking given the weather"
Max just couldn't help himself but to not-so-subtly jab at Daquan, for an eighteen year old male his maturity surely had to be put into question just by the way he was acting. In response to the new combatant on the battlefield, Maxwell retrieved Crimson's pokeball and nodded his head in thanks to the fire type lizard pokemon for his efforts in battle and recalled him. Max retrieved Anubis' pokeball and unleashed the near golden Riolu out into the harsh thunderstorm elements. The loyal protector of Max's team quietly awaited his trainers actions like an obedient servant, even if the emanation pokemon wasn't feeling so great about the weather, he definitely wasn't going to let his feelings be known, he had complete trust in his trainer and the decisions he made,
"Anubis buddy, you get the honors of putting a stamp on this 'battle'. Time to Bulldoze your competition"
Anubis nodded his head in acknowledgment of his trainers orders as the golden earrings and golden relic that were on his body glistened like a blinding light through the dullness of the rain that was pouring down, the small blue canine pokemon then proceeded to prepare to utilize what was likely to be an attack of devastating effect if it were to hit the mark on his opponent.

Daquan’s smile faltered for a second before he glanced down at his shirt. The older gent nodded his head in Maxwell’s direction while he fought the courage to try and rebuild their horrid relationship with each other. Even Daquan had to admit that the rain that poured down on them was becoming rather tiring. As one of the other Backsetball players started walking back towards Daquan with a large umbrella over his head, he knew that they were probably wandering where the heck he had disappeared off to. “Yeah, I’ve been playing with them for a while.” Daquan commented, then the smile seemed to soften into a genuine smile as he recalled a memory from his past. “In fact…my Sizzlipede is named after the team. He was my first Pokemon – my partner. We always dreamed of making it to the big leagues…ya know?” And now they were in the big leagues, at least as far as either of the two were concerned. When Maxwell didn’t seem so interested in Daquan’s offer to come see their match, the Basketball Player simply shoved the ticket back into his pockets with a shrug. He turned to his Elekid with a nod of his head in Anubis’ direction. “Say Static Shock, can ya fry up that lil dog for me?” He asked with a large smile on his face. “Gotta make it a hot dog, ya know?” The small sentient power plug pumped his bright yellow-and-black striped arms up into the air. The Elekid roared with determination as he smirked and narrowed his gaze sharply upon the bipedal blue dog. Before Anubis had the chance to react, Shock would spring into action as he began to quickly charge up enough electricity to release it in two thick electric waves. The waves shot out from the plug-like horns on the top of Shock’s head and would hit Anubis in the center of his chest. “Great strike, Static Shock!” Daquan clapped his hands together as he cheered. “That’s quite the powerful punch you’ve packed, my dude!”Daquan glanced up at the thick cumulonimbus clouds that billowed up in the skies in tall towers. They were dark grey on their bottoms with lighter hues of grey that swirled up towards the tops of the clouds. Large jolts of lightning would shoot out from the bottom of the clouds in different directions as thunder roared with powerful claps in the sky. “Yeah…” Daquan considered Maxwell’s comment thoughtfully. “I’m sure Shock can handle it, though.” He smirked, turning his attention back to the battle at hand. “Can your Anubis handle the heat?” He smirked, returning back to Maxwell’s earlier jab with a smug look. Anubis began to jump up and down as he stomped on the ground, sending powerful shockwaves through the earth that would come crashing into Shock. The Elekid cried out as he fell over and eventually picked himself back up. “Hang in there, Shock, you’ve got this!” Daquan called out in alarm. Maxwell king » Word Count: OOC: Anubis uses Force Palm Maxwell appeared to have been successful in hitting Daquan where it hurts, not physically but rather mentally, warfare after all was waged on more than one front. The happy-go-lucky like smile seemed to come and go from the basketball players' face, his vibrant, upbeat energy was really being put to the test by Max. To clear up the elephant in the room, Max decided to clear the air of the grievances that he seemingly had with Daquan,
"Look man, we've clearly connected with each other like two positive magnets trying to touch, not everybody needs to be buddy buddy these days"
As the fashionable male young adult switched his attention back to the battle he smirked at Daquan's quip about frying Anubis like a hot-dog, it had been a well timed, well executed jab.
"The only hot dog that's getting fried is my dinner from Goldenrod City once this is over"
Shock the Elekid set off to work as two thick electric waves shot from its plug-like horns at the top of its head and connected directly with the center of the small blue canine pokemon's chest, a direct hit that knocked Anubis back a few paces. Once Anubis had recovered from the electric type attack that had just shocked his body from head to toe, he begun to jump up and down stomping on the ground, he looked eerily reminiscent to that of a child throwing a temper tantrum. Powerful shockwaves emanated through the ground and crashed into Daquan's Elekid causing the electric type pokemon to fall over. Maxwell once again smiled, Daquan's latest quip towards him had been pre-emptive and had provided Max an opportunity to rebuttal,
"Anubis thrives when things get tough and his back is against the wall, he lives for it, breathes for it"
"Alright Anubis, let's finish this for good, use the .

Daquan gritted his teeth as Maxwell spoke and explained that there was no need for them to build a foundational friendship with each other. He shrugged, turning his attention back to his Pokemon just as easily. “Young blood can’t handle the struggle, Shock.” He commented with a strange, lackadaisical smile that seemingly never faltered from his lips. As the other basketball player eyed Maxwell up and found with a furrowed frown, he turned his attention sharply upon his friend with a quick tap on his shoulder. “Maaannn we’re all waiting on you, you know! What happened….this freshman challenge you in the minor leagues? Whip ‘em and lets get going!” He snapped as he breathed heavily and shook his head. Daquan turned to his friend then back to Maxwell. “Fine…hang on…he’s got the mouth on ‘em anyways and won’t support our team. Guess I’m bein’ too nice, huh?” He said, trying to save face around his friend. “Vibe check, Shock. Let’s use another Shock Wave, okay?” The bright yellow electric Pokemon began to create thick waves of electricity that pulsated up and down its large, plug-like horns with a smirk. Anubis sped across the ground, preparing its palm as a bright yellow light began to glow around Anubis’ hands. Though the two combatants seemed to be at the same speed as each other, Shock would manage to send his attack through the air to strike Anubis and cause the small canine to collapse on the ground in front of them, unable to find the strength to pick himself back up. Daquan shrugged as he gave his friend a quick glance. “I respect ya workin’ diligently with your Pokemon.” He stated casually and gestured towards Anubis while he waited on Maxwell to choose his next Pokemon. “But honestly…ya should never underestimate ya opponents, kid.” He pointed out rather matter-of-factly to Maxwell. The young trainer seemed like he was ready to defeat the Basketball player and move on – maybe even from the beginning of the match itself. Something about the way Maxwell spoke with determination made Daquan feel even better about his victory. “So…whose gunna face my Static Shock now?” Daquan asked with a huge smile plastered over his face. Maxwell king » Word Count: OOC: Edward comes into battle and uses U-Turn! Daquan's true colors shun brightly through the terrible weather, while Maxwell had stayed very much the same in his behavior, the basketball player's very clearly changed when he was around his teammate. Acting like a goody-two shoes and then turn-coating things left Max to only shake his head in disappointment
"Struggle aye? Let's turn things up a notch then yeah?"
Static the Elekid beat Anubis to the punch, quite literally as his thick waves of electricity struck Anubis before the small blue canine pokemon had the opportunity to put an end to the electric type pokemon's stand in the battle. Daquan's ego seemingly grew exponentially as a glimmer of hope appeared for him, up until this point in the battle he had been completely outclassed, it had only been Max taking his foot off the accelerator that had provided this opportunity for the basketball player to slightly turn the tables. After recalling Anubis into his pokeball to rest and recover, Maxwell had an evil smirk painted all over his face,.
"Enjoy the short lived moment of victory, it's the only bit of it you'll be tasting"
Max reached for the red and white pokeball containing Edward the Scyther as he proceeded to release the green mantis pokemon from his resting place. The bipedal, insectoid pokemon emerged from the gleaming red light with his large, white scythe like arms crossed in an x formation, he was rearing to go as he eyed off his electric type opponent who was much smaller in stature by comparison,
"Let's cut to the chase Edward, hit the little electric plug with your U-Turn attack!"

Daquan’s usual smile curved into a devious smirk at Maxwell’s reply. Though Daquan had expected to take Maxwell’s demeanor down several pegs, it seemed as though his opponent only reveled in the frying pan. Daquan’s friend grumbled as he folded his hands across his chest and awkwardly balanced between his arms and his chest. “This guy’s holdin’ up our victory meal. Let me guess jit, Daquan challenged you? He’s got a way of-“ Daquan spun around on his friend and gripped him firmly on the shoulders with a serious look. Had his teammate already turned against him so soon when he was trying to hurry him along? “I was only tryin’ to meet someone new but young blood doesn’t wanna meet new people.” Daquan snapped firmly. When Edward appeared, though, Daquan’s face softened. Was a flying insect supposed to be much of a match against his electric plug? The green mantis didn’t look like it could stand much of a chance against his Static. “Shock Wave, Static. That’s been doin’ us good so far, and you’re plenty fast.” Daquan stated with a huge smirk. Though the bright yellow Elekid was still feeling some of the effects of Anubis’ Bulldoze that had managed to slow him down considerably. The electric plug smirked, pumping his fist, and began charging up his electricity through his large prongs on his head. Edward moved faster than anyone could blink as he soared through the air and slashed the small electric plug with his long scythes. Then, the preying mantis spun around and sped back to Maxwell’s side. It seemed that his Pokemon already knew the script by now as he fully prepared to disappear in the blink of an eye within his Pokeball. “Shock! Are you alright?!” Daquan’s voice raised in alarm as he rushed to his Pokemon who lay in a fainted heap on the ground. “Speak to me, lil guy! Tell me you can still fight!” When it was clear that the Elekid wasn’t going to be able to get up, Daquan reluctantly recalled it back into its Pokeball before walking over to Maxwell to extend his hand – and a wad of cash – in the young lad’s direction. “Here…ya put up a good fight. Though, if you ever wanna get into sports I recommend checking our team out…” He’d state, before disappearing with his friend. Maxwell king » Word Count: OOC: Looking for an encounter/Trainer to battle! Daquan's basketball friend clearly knew his pal all too well as he fathomed an on the money guess as to how the encounter between the two trainers had occurred. Max smirked with full confidence as he was abundantly sure in that moment that he wasn't the first person that Daquan had tried to become 'friends' with.
"It's alright bucko, this will be your last supper anyways so enjoy it while it lasts"
Despite how rude and disrespectful Maxwell was to his sporty adversary, the basketball player somehow somehow managed to maintain his composure and continue his 'goody-two-shoes' like act that Max was sure was all a ruse. The final nail in the coffin that signified the end of the battle between the two trainers was a gross underestimation of Edward's ability, it was vividly clear to Max that Daquan had never challenged Bugsy the Azalea Town gym leader to a battle and witnessed the monumental impact his Scyther had on a battle.
"Underestimate my insectoid friend here all you'd like bucko"
It all happened so quickly. One moment Edward the Scyther was patiently standing beside Max and the next he was zipping through the air like a race car before he proceeded to wildly swing his long scythe like arms at the small electric plug like pokemon. The alarmed tone of Daquan's voice showed the pure concern the basketball player had for his now fainted electric type pokemon as he rushed to the spot where his partner lay fainted in a heap on the ground as the rain continued to pour down from above. Daquan proceeded to recall his fainted pokemon into its pokeball and then walked over to hand Max his victory earnings with a departing message about sports, Maxwell couldn't help but get one last verbal barb in as Daquan begun to disappear with his friend,
"The day I get into sports is the same day I'll lose to you in a battle, so that's never"
Max was quite literally drenched from the atrocious weather that seemingly had no end to it in sight. The fashionable young adult male gave Edward raised his right hand in a 'thumbs up' like motion to acknowledge the bug type pokemon's efforts in finishing the battle for his team before he motioned for the green mantis pokemon to lead the way forward towards Goldenrod City. Max was hoping that his travels would not be interrupted by anyone or anything, he had places to be and things to do.
