After passing through union cave, with a literal roadblock slowing him down, Tristan had finally made his way to the quaint town known as Azalea. Tristan had heard rumors as he made his way through the town relating to how much of a step up in competition Bugsy, the specialist bug-type pokemon gym leader of the town, was by comparison to Falkner. Tristan was all too keen see if the rumors were true and if his team of water type pokemon were ready for the challenge. Pre-emptively, Tristan had released Neptune the Horsea from his pokeball in preparation for the gym battle. immediately Tristan recognized the nerves that emanated from his water type seahorse like pokemon,
"Fret not Neptune, we got this!"
Tristan and Neptune entered through the front doors of the Azalea Town gym and were pleasantly surprised at what they saw. Inside was a spacious forest with towering trees growing out of the ground, shrubbery that housed numerous small looking bug pokemon and the dome-shaped top that carved the building into what was an impressive greenhouse to say the very least. Neptune couldn't help but begin to fret, life way already scary enough without all the creepy crawly bugs that inhabited the dome shaped building that he and his trainer were now inside of. Tristan was cool, calm and collected by comparison to his pokemon partner, not much seemed to faze the young man lately, his carefree spirit was simply guiding him through life. Tristan couldn't help but admire the building he was now inside of as he wandered around observing different things that stood out to him as he awaited the arrival of Bugsy, the Johto region gym leaders truly knew how to play to the elements that defined them,
"Now this is sick!"

The architecture of the GYM had been carefully crafted by the fanatic and well known bug experty and GYM Leader, Bugsy. The purple-haired GYM Leader would often go out of his way to source only environmentally friendly foliage that not only best suited the Pokemon that called his GYM home but would prove not to harm the natural environment of the surrounding city. Many of the tall oaks provided natural bark that smaller bugs such as Caterpie and Weedle loved to crawl up and feast on the leaves of. The leaf litter that pooled on the ground in seemingly unkept patches was purposefully left as scattered debris for the bugs that crawled underneath their domain. A small green spider would be the first guest that would greet Tristan as soon as he walked far enough inside of the GYM. The small bug scooted down seemingly suspended in thin air, though if Tristan chose to stare close enough to the bug he would easily make out the thin thread shooting out from its abdomen and connecting it to the thick branch of a nearby tree. It spun around and wiggled its legs as it chirruped and bubbled softly, “Naaraaak?” Bugsy would approach Tristan from behind, carrying a large net in one hand and slowly extending his other to greet the blonde-haired trainer. “Hello. I’m Bugsy, Azalea’s GYM Leader and Bug Type Pokemon expert!” He greeted Tristan with a smile, before carrying on in conversation. “Although Spinarak is an arachnid, it is still a Bug Type Pokemon. Their webs are vital to their livelihood. In fact, they’re Spinarak’s 2nd nervous system! They can tell what kind of prey is touching the web by the webs vibrations alone.”Another girl with large, translucent wings and two long, swooping antennas walked up behind Bugsy as she stomped her foot on the ground and folded her hands on her hips. Though at first she might appear as though she were some unholy combination of human and bug, closer inspection would prove that it was only an outfit that she had fastened and worn. “Excuse me!” She cleared her throat, trying to make sure both men turned to pay attention to her. “Don’t forget that if this young man is here for an official GYM Battle, I will need to be present to judge it. I swear…” She pulled one hand off her hips to place it against her head as she shook her head with a loud sigh. “You just get so caught up in your own things, Bugsy…you seem to forget everything else, if it doesn’t pertain to your bugs!” She joked. Bugsy shook his head and gestured towards the young lady as he turned to Tristan. “Oh, let me apologize! You don’t look like a bug enthusiast…” Bugsy commented, though in his tone it was clear that he meant nothing by his comment. Bugsy was only speaking based on his observations and the fact that Neptune – Tristan’s bright blue seahorse – had traveled together into the GYM. “Are you here for an official GYM Battle, young man?” After Tristan confirmed that he was there for an official GYM Battle, Bugsy would smile while the judge explained the rules. “You’re only allowed to use 6 Pokemon during your GYM Battle, while Bugsy will use a team of 3 Pokemon. You may switch your Pokemon around during the battle should you need but can only have one Pokemon out battling at a time. The battle will end only when all the Pokemon on one side of the field are unable to battle, or if you choose to forfeit the match. Are you ready?” Bugsy smiled, pulling a small red-and-white Pokeball off of his hips and unleashing a tall green bug with large scythe-like hands. “I’ll start with my Scyther! She’s quite the specimen.” Bugsy added, as he turned to his flying companion who seemed to be sharpening her scythes against each other. Bugsy accepts Tristan's challenge! He's sending out his Level 21 Scyther. Who will Tristan use?

To say the Azalea Town gym was a spectacular sight to behold would be a gross underselling of how truly special the place was. Bugsy had carefully crafted the place into a safe haven for all sorts of bug type pokemon while simultaneously preserving the elements of nature that were steadily disappearing from the outside world. The bug pokemon that inhabited the greenhouse style gym meant no harm to Tristan, the blonde haired boy was able to find that part out firsthand as a Spinarak got up close and comfortable. From behind the purple haired, net hoisting young fellow that was Bugsy held extended his hand in greeting to Tristan, to which the blonde haired teen firmly shook,
"Pleasure to meet you Bugsy, you've really built an incredible domain!"
Tristan could listen to Bugsy ramble on about unique facts relating to bug type pokemon all day if he had to, it was abundantly clear that he knew what he was talking about and despite his short stature, he wasn't somebody you wanted to mess with. A lady wearing human/bug like outfit interrupted the chit chat that Bugsy and Tristan were enjoying and was all business as she kept business in order. The way she spoke to Bugsy reminded Tristan of an old married couple arguing over the simplest of things just by the way that the pair seemed to bounce off each other energy wise.
As the rules were eventually explained by the judge lady, Bugsy then proceeded to release a tall green bug pokemon with large scythe-like hands from the small red-and-white pokeball that it had been resting inside of. Tristan couldn't help but look on in awe of the pokemon that Bugsy had chosen for battle, if he wasn't a water type specialist, Scyther was high on his list of pokemon that he would love to include on his team,
"Scyther hey, that's one scary looking pokemon"
Neptune was frozen on the spot at the introduction of Bugsy's first pokemon into the gym challenge, the seahorse pokemon was paralyzed with fear and her trainers assessment of her opponent certainly wasn't aiding her in relaxing. Neptune looked up to Tristan as if to say 'save me from this monster', to which the blonde haired boy returned a cheeky smile, he was quietly confident that his team would have the necessary firepower to get the job done,
"Neptune the floor is yours, let's give an icy introduction with your Ice Beam attack"
Bugsy's Scyther appeared to be pre-emptively sharpening its scythes against each other, Neptune closed his eyes and tried to collect his thoughts, surely Tristan could have chosen one of his teammates to face this murderous looking bug.

Bugsy’s face beamed when Tristan praised his hard work in constructing his GYM. He nodded his head carefully and stole a glance around his own gym. All around them, the tall trees that enshrouded the enclosed greenhouse teemed with life. Bright green and vibrant yellow cocoons were suspended in air or tethered to the branches in the treetops as they awaited metamorphosis to transform them into beautiful butterflies and beastly wasps. Small bright red ladybug buzzed from one wildflower to the next, while stag beetles wrestled far off in the distance. “She’s taken a lot of work to create the perfect environment for my bug Pokemon.” Bugsy admitted. “So, what do you hope to gain by defeating me?” Bugsy asked Tristan, turning the conversation on the boy’s head while he nodded to his scythe-swinging praying mantis. The dual flying-and-bug type Pokemon chattered loudly as she raised her scythes up into the air with a dangerous glint. She hopped out in front of the small seahorse and swung her arms back and forth, as if to show of the natural weapons that she had crafted onto her arms. “Scyther Scy! Scyther?” (“I’m ready to battle! Are you?”) She questioned her opponent with a smirk. “Scyther use U-Turn!” Bugsy called out right after Tristan called his move for Neptune. Scyther shot off like a light switch being clicked on as soon as Bugsy gave the command. She used her wings to fly and swung her arms wildly, slashing at Neptune across both of his sides. As soon as the small seahorse, who was temporarily knocked over from the impact of Scyther’s blades, managed to pick himself up his opponent had disappeared. She spun around within seconds, rushing back to Bugsy’s side. “Yeah. Scyther are so fast, in fact, that they can often create illusions of there being multiple Scyther in the area with their speed alone.” Bugsy added as a flash of light recalled his Pokemon, pulling her back into her Pokeball. In the next instance, another flash of light shot out and released Bugsy’s small green chrysalis to stand before Tristan. “They train in together deep in the mountains on how to use their scythes when they’re young.” Neptune shot a large beam of ice that broke off into several branches. All of them managed to strike the small cocoon in her side. The Metapod growled loudly as it rocked back and forth in place from the impact. "An Ice Beam attack...Neat. Did you teach your Pokemon that move?" Bugsy asked Tristan curiously. GYM Battle: Bugsy Weather: Indoors [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Metapod ♀ LV 18 HP 41% [21/51]

Despite not knowing each other prior to moments before, the interactions between Bugsy and Tristan were littered with respect of the other. It was Bugsy's latest question to the blonde haired teenager that really brought a smile to his face, most people would stereotype Tristan off his looks alone as a dopey looking kid just trying his best, there was much more to him than that however,
"To honestly answer your question Bugsy, I'd have to say respect"
"You see I come from a small town in the Hoenn region and am a twin raised by hard working parents, the three of them haven't really experienced life outside of our hometown so I am essentially living out there dreams for them"
Whether Bugsy had wanted to hear a snippet of Tristan's life story was yet to be known, the blonde haired male was all too happy to share with those who presented him with the platform to share. As Tristan and Bugsy were locked in conversation, the battle was just beginning between Bugsy's dangerous looking Scyther and Tristan's innocent looking Horsea. Quick would be a gross understatement of how truly mesmerizing the mantis pokemon's movement across the battlefield was after being given a simple command to attack, it seemed like their was duplicates of the bug type pokemon as it was there one moment and gone the next. The impact of Scyther's scythes against Neptune's small frame was abundantly clear as the seahorse pokemon was temporarily knocked over from the sheer impact of the attack. After recovering his bearings, Neptune unleashed his icy cold Ice Beam attack, however his opponent had returned to the safety of its pokeball and instead the seahorse pokemon was greeted with a new, less menacing looking opponent, to which Neptune's body language showed a heightened sense of relief,
"Sheesh your Scyther really packs a punch"
Tristan noticed that Neptune appeared to be struggling after the one attack from Bugsy's Scyther, another solid attack was likely going to enough to knock the seahorse pokemon unconscious, so Tristan took it upon himself to give Neptune a fighting chance to continue. Tristan retrieved from his backpack a spray-type medicine and leant over to Neptune and begun spraying it on the wounds that had formed in hopes that it would provide some relief, whilst doing so Tristan listened intently to Bugsy's latest question and responded with a proud smile etched on his face,
"Yeah lots of training helped that one become a reality, I may be a water type specialist but if I were to rely too much on only water type attacks I'd be so one dimensional that everyone would know my strategy before I could even execute it"
Much to Tristan's surprise, for once Neptune proceeded to act on his own accord. The usually timid seahorse pokemon appeared to have a renewed sense of confidence having survived his first encounter with Bugsy's Scyther. Neptune closed his eyes in concentration as dark rain clouds were seemingly summoned within the greenhouse that was the Azalea Town gym, rain was bound to begin falling from above and change the complexion of the battlefield to a more suitable element for a water type specialist and his crew.

"Respect," Bugsy repeated, "In what form? From me? The respect a Champion of a Region gets, or the respect of your family at home?" He asked curiously. "I must regretfully acknowledge that beating my bugs in itself usually doesn't gain much respect elsewhere, although it usually does among the ones who has actually challenged me. Sadly most people haven't realized the strength which bug types can held, I and my scyther are working on it!" He added with a grin. The metapod swayed back and forth but if it was from feeling left out or from the earlier attack was hard to tell. "She does, doesn't she? U-turn is a hard hitting move and often surprises people because she doesn't stay in battle," Bugsy said and then smirked, "but she's not the only one whom I have trained and can surprise out challengers. Ready Metapod? Show what you have learned of Joltik last year, Electroweb."The potion which Tristan applied to Neptune really did wonders to his health and he was ready to go on, but so was the metapod. the electric web came flying and crackled in the air before it wrapped around Neptune and disappeared in a loud snap as it sent several jolts through him. Bugsy nodded, "Yeah, I know all about that, that's why I have taught Scyther..." He stopped himself and then grinned, "no wait, I haven't used that one yet." He was thoughtful for a moment and then gestured to Metapod, "That's why I have taught Metapod to use Electroweb as a way to deal with all the flying types which are brought here to challenge us, but it can certainly be useful against water types too."He looked closer at Neptune, "if you have trained moves which are good against your challengers, what is your tactic when it comes to defend yourself against pokemon which are good against yours? Just being faster?" Bugsy asked curiously. Neptune had a very odd rain dance, most pokemon who used the move actually danced, but Neptune just did it in his mind, and soon clouds gathered under the roof and big drops fell on the ground. The judge sighed quietly, "Last week it was sunshine and now its rain, what's next? Sandstorm?" She muttered. Metapod didn't need to get an order from Bugsy either, if it hadn't been told anything else, it knew it was best to just continue with what it had done last and it electricity began to crackle around it again. The web lit up as it zapped through the air, stray sparks jumping to the rain drops which fell around it and which pulled it forward faster than before. It slammed into Neptune with a much greater force than before and more or less exploded in the rain around it. "Horsea is unable to battle!" The judge ruled immediately as Neptune lay motionless in the grass, "Bugsy wins this round," she turned to look at Tristan, "please choose your next pokemon."Metapod had no face to show its expression but there was no doubt it was shocked and didn't believe what had just happened. "Well done Metapod! That worked better than I had expected!" Bugsy said Amazed and then Matepod began to jump up and down in excitement. It had actually won a battle against an opponent! "Honestly respect overall I'd say! The way I go about things might not be conventional or 'the norm' but I'm proud of it none the less!"
Tristan pondered at the mention of family by Bugsy, after all his Mum, Dad and twin sister had blessed him with the opportunity to chase and live out his dreams, the blonde haired teen felt that least he could do to repay them was to do a good job of things and enjoy every moment along the way.
"This battle may still be in its infancy, one thing for sure already is that I have a newfound respect for bug type pokemon and the crazy amounts of potential they possess!"
Tristan's focus fixated back onto the battle that was being waged on the battlefield before him, at the mention of an electric type attack being used by a bug type pokemon, Tristan couldn't help but raise his eyebrows in shock, Bugsy really had trained his bug type pokemon well. The super potion that Tristan had finished spraying onto Neptune had retuned the seahorse pokemon to tip top shape as the ever-nervous Horsea was ready to go, despite his lack of confident body language to show for it. The blue seahorse pokemon was shocked as an electric web came flying and crackling through the air before wrapping around Neptune as loud snaps could be heard as the web seemingly disappeared and as a result electric shockwaves were sent pulsating through the seahorse pokemon's body, the water type pokemon appeared to have sustained quite an amount of damage from that single attack.
In what was likely to be the most unique usage of the maneuver known as Rain Dance, Neptune silently danced to the beat of his own drum, mentally of course as dark grey clouds had gathered under the roof of the gym as big rain drops begun to fall onto the ground below. A resigned comment from the judge had Tristan trying not to chuckle, the weather in the Johto region was something that not even the best weather expert could predict successfully, having pokemon altering it made it even more difficult to do so.
"Sorry for the change in weather guys, was feeling like bringing a touch of home into things!"
As Neptune re-opened his eyes he was shocked at what happened next, figuratively and literally. Bugsy's Metapod had again utilized its powerful Electroweb attack, this time however it came with a ferocity that would end Neptune's valiant stand in the battle,
"That was a rather shocking conclusion to Neptune's chapter"
Tristan retrieved Neptune's pokeball and returned the seahorse pokemon for a well earned rest, he had fought hard and well against a trainer and his pokemon who were very clearly the gym leader for a distinct reason.
"Thanks for your efforts Neptune, I know how much you don't like confrontation but you did awesome!"
The rain continued to pour down over the battlefield as the judge called for Tristan to release his next pokemon into battle. Tristan retrieved the red and white pokeball containing Nami the Wartortle and released the turtle pokemon from her resting place. Nami noticed the bug type pokemon across the battlefield from her and the purple haired boy that stood behind it, the situation was clear, she was her trainers next choice into battle and she was determined to not let him down. The feeling of the rain falling from above was refreshing for Nami, this was her type of element to fight within,
"Welcome to the party Nami! Let's kick things off with your Water Pulse attack darling girl!"

Bugsy listened to the young trainer with a smile. He had seen many types of trainers storm their way through his doors, with most of them thinking that they would just blast through his gym in a blaze of glory and claim the badge for themselves. Though, Tristan seemed to understand that this wasn’t just an easy entrance to the next area and that he would need to work to claim the badge for himself. Maybe it was Tristan’s specialty that made him realize the work would be needed in order to claim victory, or maybe it was something else entirely? “Respect is something that is earned.” Bugsy commented and nodded towards his bright green chrysalis. “Metapod, use another Electroweb, please!”The purple-haired GYM Leader was happy to hear that Tristan had gained a certain level of respect for Bugsy and his Pokemon. He never expected people to waltz through his doors with admiration or respect, given that most may not know him as well as his town did. He worked closely with the people in his town whenever they needed his help and so he had gained their respect the most. Though, those that came to challenge his GYM would eventually learn why they should respect his bug Pokemon, as well. “And I respect how well you work with your Pokemon and how much care you show for them.” Bugsy spoke earnestly. Battling Tristan was like a breath of fresh air compared to the others he had battled, but that certainly wouldn’t mean that he would go easy on him. The judge sighed heavily as she shook her head and waved her hand in Tristan’s direction. She immediately made sure that she was covered from the rain with protective rain gear from head-to-toe and focused on the battle at hand. “Oh, it’s alright!” She said in a long, drawn out, exasperated voice. She had to accept that this was part of the territory, after all. There was no use accepting the job of being a GYM Leader’s judge and expecting trainers not to make the most of weather-based moves. “We’re here to test your skills with your Pokemon, after all.” As soon as Nami blasted a powerful stream of water that would hit Metapod to send the bug flying backwards through the trees, she would knock her opponent out. “Metapod is unable to battle, Nami is the winner of this round!” Bugsy recalled his green chrysalis and recalled his bright green mantis. “Come back out, Scyther!” He called Then, more curiously, Bugsy questioned Tristan. “Do you hope to visit Olivine? Although Jasmine is a Steel Type specialist, it is bordered by the ocean…” He humored with a bright smile. Bugsy's comment about earning respect being something that was earned resonated with Tristan as the blonde haired boy smiled and nodded in agreement. Respect was a two way street in which if you were to give it, more often than not you would in turn receive it back.
"I truly appreciate those kind words Bugsy, it means alot! You can truly see the impact you have had on this town, the locals can't say enough kind things about you"
The battle continued to proceed beyond the conversation that Bugsy and Tristan were having with each other. The bright green chrysalis that was Bugsy's Metapod had been ordered to utilize its Electroweb attack, the powerful electric type attack that had sent Neptune off for an early snooze. The powerful stream of water that Nami had released from her mouth gave the cocoon pokemon no time to brace itself for the impact as the bug type pokemon was sent flying backwards through the trees before falling to the ground in an unconscious state, soon to be ruled unable to battle by the judge that was over-seeing the proceedings. Tristan smiled and clapped applause for how graceful Nami's attack looked,
"Well done Nami, that was spectacular girl!"
Nami herself had a pleased facial expression printed upon her as she patiently awaited her next opponent. The mention of the bright green mantis pokemon and the sheer sight of it seemingly sent shivers down Tristan's spine, the last time he had been this worried was when the Sharpedo had tried to make him a lunchtime snack back home. Facing fears was something Tristan had grown up doing and he was determined to not let this dangerous looking beast of a pokemon get the best of him or his team.
"Careful Nami, this one right here is a real sight to behold"
Tristan heeded a warning to the leader of his water type pokemon brigade, if there was a pokemon he wished to stand up to the might of Bugsy's Scyther at this very moment it was Nami the Wartortle. There was little doubts that despite the rain that was pouring down on the battlefield, Bugsy's Scyther would still no doubt maintain the speed advantage, it was like a blur with how quickly it moved,
"Keep your eyes peeled girl, this one can attack from any angle at anytime, so wait for the right opportunity to strike and hit it with your Water Pulse attack!"
Bugsy posed a question to Tristan in reference to if he planned to visit Olivine City and challenge the local gym leader Jasmine who was a steel type pokemon specialist,
"One day I'll get there, can't wait to go for a surf and deep dive there that's for sure, the gym challenge will no doubt be a tough one but the best things in life are worth fighting for!"

Tristan noted how Bugsy’s affect on his town had a profound effect on the locals. He had to admit that he worked closely with his townspeople, and it pleased him to know that Tristan was able to see that even though he hadn’t been in the town for very long. The purple-haired GYM Leader nodded his head and glanced towards one of the large windows of his GYM that allowed him to glance out to the wooded town around him. “Thank you for that, Tristan.” He said with a smile and reached up to scratch his chin. “I would hope that any GYM Leader would take pride in their city and help their people, but that is not always a given.”Bugsy turned his attention back to the battle as Scyther’s wings began to buzz with a loud hum. The large green mantis soared up above her trainer and hopped over to stand just in front of Nami. Scyther studied her opponent carefully as she sharpened her long blades against each other and prepared for her attack. And though she knew exactly what her trainer would tell her to do, Scyther waited diligently for the command. “Scyther use U-Turn!” Bugsy called out. The mantis nodded her head firmly and flew up close to Nami. She swung her long blade-like arms wildly and sliced into the softest parts of Nami’s side. Then, the large mantis would spin around and immediately fly back over to Bugsy in the blink of an eye to disappear into her ball as a small yellow chrysalis replaced her on the field. “I bet you saw that one coming by now though, right?” Bugsy asked Tristan with a knowing smirk. When Tristan commented on how tough Jasmine would be, Bugsy couldn’t help but nod his head firmly. “We’ve had many from my village who thought that they would make it to the championship.” Bugsy furrowed his brows and frowned as he thought about it. Though many had left Azalea with large dreams full of hope, most of them had come back to settle into their old lives after succumbing to defeat. The ones that managed to make it to Jasmine all had the same remarks. “They’ve told me she’s next to impossible to defeat without a good strategy.” He chuckled, then winced as Nami’s attack slammed into the side of his Kakuna. The small cocoon shook wildly around on the ground from the impact. As Bugsy studied to see how well his Pokemon was fairing, he smiled when Kakuna growled to let him know she was still good to continue fighting. Tristan couldn't help but have a proud smile etched on his face as Bugsy nodded his head in agreement to the remark the blonde haired teenager had made about how much of an impact the purple haired gym leader had on his town and its townspeople.
As the focus shifted back onto the battle at large, Tristan shook his head in awe of how quickly Bugsy's green mantis pokemon covered space, one moment she was soaring above her trainer and the next she was patiently waiting in front of Nami for her trainer to command her next attack. The attack command soon followed as the green mantis pokemon swung her long blade-like arms wildly and connected with the softer regions of Nami's body, leaving her wincing in pain as a result of the maneuver. Bugsy's Scyther then spun around, immediately flew back to her trainer and in the blink of an eye retreated to the safety of her pokeball as she was replaced on the battlefield by a small yellow chrysalis pokemon. Tristan started to chuckle, a nervous one at that as he couldn't help but make a cheeky remark relating to the clear impact the green mantis pokemon had on the battle,
"I mean honestly, I can barely see that beast move it's that damn quick. It's one scary pokemon, I don't usually have nightmares but if Scyther starts appearing in one I'll have you to thank for that one mate"
After recovering from the devastating impact of Scyther's U-Turn attack, Nami proceeded to unleash her own impactful maneuver as the rain clouds continued to soak the competitors on the battlefield below. Nami's powerful water pulse attack slammed into the side of Bugsy's Kakuna as the impact of the move left the small cocoon pokemon shaking wildly around on the ground in response.
"At least they all had a go at it, you'll never know unless you try. I'm hoping that if I am able to reach and challenge her that my strategy is raring and ready to go"
Nami looked the fresher of the two combatants that were across from each other, both patiently awaiting their trainers next orders that were sure to follow,
"You're doing great Nami keep up the good work! Let's go with your Ice Beam attack next!"

Bugsy clearly straightened when Tristan admitted that scyther was a scarily strong pokemon, he had spent ages training her and find a way to handle the abundance of fire types which arrived at his gym. He was proud at what they had accomplished and it was rare that trainers challenged him now, without having at least one of their pokemon faint before they left the gym again. He could see and hear how big difference it made and it made the trainers realize how amazing his bug types were. Some said that a lot of it was because the challengers kept underestimate him and his bugs, but Bugsy would just grin and say that was why he was here, to teach people about bugs. "Oh, I hope not! I want to show how amazing and impressive my bugs is, not scare you away from them!" The gym leader chuckled, "I doubt it can convince you to try something like her out for your team though," he added with a wink. Tristan seemd as smitten by his water pokemon as Bugsy was with his bugs. The gym leader nodded, "they did, and they learned it was not their thing but came after having grown so much more than if they had stayed, knowing so much more about the Region and themselves." He wiped some of his green hair away from his face, "I'm sure you'll either find a good tactic, its not the first time someone manage to get her badge, or you will realize life has something better in store for you."Bugsy grinned, breaking the wise-old-man air he had had around him, "I never thought I'd be a gym leader! I had my goals set somewhere entirely elsewhere!"Bugsy glanced at his kakuna but was considerate enough not to take out any pokeballs before it was time to change it out. Kakuna was facing Nami fearlessly but was frozen solid a moment later and Bugsy recalled it quickly. Scyther took the stage again and rolled her shoulders and looked a bit bored. "You have gotten a bit of extra training here, but will it be enough? Or has it weared your impressive wartortle out too much to keep up now?" Bugsy asked wtih a smirk. Scyther looked at Nami intently as if she tried to read that answer of the wartortle. Bugsy's combination of body language and facial expressions showcased how truly proud he was of his bug type pokemon, not once had Tristan heard the young purple haired boy utter a negative word about his insectoid pokemon. The passion that Bugsy clearly felt for his bug type pokemon was exactly the same as how Tristan felt for his water type pokemon,
"As much as I respect the specimen of a pokemon that is your Scyther, my water types are where my heart lies"
Tristan nodded acknowledgement to Bugsy mentioning the knowledge and experience that local trainers had gained from their journey's throughout the Johto region, the advice the purple haired boy was sharing was invaluable and something Tristan was sure to keep in mind for future reference. The blonde haired teenage male was a taken aback by Bugsy mentioning that being a gym leader wasn't his first career choice, the guy filled the role so seamlessly,
"Oh wow I had no idea, you're a natural at being a gym leader though! What was your original goal before eventually becoming a Gym Leader if you don't mind me asking?"
A battle continued to rage amidst the conversation that waged on between the gym leader and his water type specialist opponent. Nami the Wartortle swiftly put a freezing conclusion to Kakuna's stanza within the gym battle with her icy cold Ice Beam attack. After recalling his fainted yellow chrysalis pokemon, the return of the ever dangerous green mantis pokemon was abound. A smirk could be seen on Bugsy's face as he appeared to be trying to analyze Nami's condition to determine how much longer she could stick around in battle,
"Any bit of training definitely helps, Nami's a fighter to the very end"
Nami nodded her acknowledgement to her trainers praise as she stood across from the menace that was Bugsy's Scyther, it was inevitable that she would serve as the final hurdle on the path to victory for Tristan and his team of water type pokemon. So far Bugsy's Scyther had managed to avoid taking any damage at all in the battle, a vital sticking point to its longevity and a feather in the net of Bugsy as to his well executed strategy that was showcasing to Tristan that there was much more to battling than simply commanding an attack and hoping for the best,
"Let's take advantage of the weather before it shifts on us Nami, try to hit Scyther with your Water Pulse!"

Bugsy glanced at his Scyther as she stretched her wings and smiled. Bugsy worked hard with his partner Pokemon. Even though some trainers would leave his gym scarred by the sheer power and might of his Scyther, Bugsy knew hew heart. There was nothing sinister or malice in his Pokemon – just a well trained and powerful bug that loved to battle and do anything she could to prove herself to her trainer. “I completely understand what you mean.” He nodded his head firmly. He would talk anyone into the wealth and wonder of being a Bug Type trainer if he could. But, especially because of his love for his own Pokemon, Bugsy wanted it to be something they wanted and loved, as well. “I wouldn’t trade anything in the world for my Bug Type Pokemon.” Bugsy nodded to his Scyther as she glanced back in his direction curiously. The rain poured down from the storm clouds above them, though their gentle pitter-patter against the ground signified that their reign was coming to an end. The judge glanced up with a smile and let a sigh of relief escape her lips. “Finally, a little relief from the storm.” She chuckled and began to brush herself off to see how bad the rains had gotten to her. “Yes, and I’m sure my bugs will be thankful for that. Scyther, please use Dual Wingbeat!” Scyther smirked as she kicked off the ground at a blindingly fast speed. Only the constant buzzing of her wings seemed to reverberate around the glass pane windows that created the glasshouse dome for the wooded GYM. A shadow formed to Nami’s right, and as she turned to face it, Scyther slashed into Nami from her left side. As Nami spun around to her left, Scyther had already attacked a second time on her right side. “What was my original plan?” Bugsy smiled thoughtfully and considered his time with Scyther. He’d done a lot of field research on Bug Type Pokemon and still felt like there was so much left to learn about them. How could he ever hope to learn everything there is to know? “To simply know everything there is to know about Bug Type Pokemon? I discovered the move Fury Cutter. There was a time that this was my Scyther’s signature move…years ago.” He hummed thoughtfully to himself, quite enjoying the conversation that Tristan offered him. “What will you do after you’ve defeated all the GYM Leaders in Johto? Travel to Kanto or farther away, perhaps?” Nami slammed into his opponent with a powerful blast of water. The water’s damage was powerful especially given the downpour that splashed against the branches of the tall trees and pitter-pattered on the GYM floor. Scyther jumped back and shook herself to shake away the water. Her skull pounded against the inside of her brain, like a screwdriver being driven into her cranium. It hurt and caused her to feel as though the room around her was beginning to spin. She plucked a small yellow berry with red speckled dots off of her body where she was holding it and downed it in one large bite. Immediately, Scyther began to feel stronger and better after that initial hit, though the wrecking headache that pounded inside of her brain remained. Bugsy explained that nothing in the world could convince him to trade away his bug type pokemon, Tristan felt exactly the same way as the gym leader, however for his water type pokemon instead, each of them held a very special place within his heart, more than they probably will ever know. The rain that had been pouring down from the storm clouds hovering above begun to become more gentle as time passed, to which a smile, sigh of relief and a light hearted comment followed from the judge in charge of officiating the battle and Bugsy himself, Tristan couldn't help but chuckle at the mention of the word Storm, his family surname, to which the blonde haired teenager couldn't help but chuckle and make a light hearted comment of his own,
"The rains might be gone but the Storm still remains"
Tristan thoroughly enjoyed listening to Bugsy explain what his original plan prior to becoming a gym leader was, if nothing else the blonde haired boy was sure he had made a friend out of Bugsy, two specialist trainers living out their dreams.
"I feel the same way mate, I feel like I don't know as much about Water Type pokemon as I think I do and would love to one day research more about them, maybe after my journey through Johto is complete that could be my next step"
The events that proceeded to occur within the battle well and truly showcased the impact that Bugsy's Scyther could have, she demanded respect. The attack that Bugsy had asked for his green mantis pokemon to complete was an insanely impressive display that left Tristan speechless, the sheer speed and power that it possessed was like nothing he had ever seen before. Ever the fighter, Nami was able to continue fighting and slammed a powerful blast of water into the green mantis pokemon across from her. Not only was Bugsy's Scyther a physically imposing opponent, it was evidently also a tactical one as she plucked a small yellow berry with red speckled dots off her body and downed it in a single bite, the effects of the berry were instantaneous and she looked nearly as good as new.
Tristan pondered internally as to how best to approach the new situation that had developed within the battle. Bugsy's Scyther was evidently the healthier of the two combatants, however the green mantis pokemon seemed to keep tapping away at her own skull as if to clear her mind. Nami's powerful Water Pulse attack had definitely hit its mark and appeared to have left the ever dangerous mantis pokemon in a state of confusion, there was always the chance that it was all a well played ruse, however Tristan was ready and willing to take the risk moving forward, after all life is full of risks and living in fear of the possible outcome was not the right way to about things by his philosophy. Nami's time remaining in the battle was limited, her movements looked a great deal more laborious than they were prior to Scyther's Dual murderWingbeat attack,
"Nami my girl you've fought brilliantly, give me all you've got left with your Ice Beam attack!"
