Bug Catching Net. Check.
Sara had done her research. She was prepared. Having heard of a contest of capturing things, as soon as she signed up Sara got to work researching what the most popular bug-catching gear in Johto was. Having been a previous champion of Gogoat racing, and a record-setter in the local fishing competitions, she had earned herself a reputation as a tough competitor. Growing up, she had fished her whole life, and when she was younger, she would often get the opportunity to visit the neighboring island of Melemele and visit the Paniola Ranch and practice Mudsdale riding. Bugs, however, had eluded her areas of interest. There weren't many bug types on her home island of Melemele unless you found yourself wandering over to the Melemele meadow, and even there you would only occasionally see the rare caterpie, as butterfree sometimes made their way to the flowering fields to lay their eggs.
But today was the first day of the bug-catching contest. Armed with 15 sport balls and her Mudbray Momo, Sara stood in front of the huge water fountain in Johto's National Park. She used the net as a crutch as she half listened to the contest official re-state the rules of the competition. "The rarest bug... remember not to... and especially don't..." Sara half listened as she glanced around the huge park at the somehow tidy, and unruly tall grass fields all around her. Even without entering the grass, Sara could tell that the park was chock-full of wildlife, and she speculated that perhaps the bug-catching contest was a method of getting trainers to somewhat control the wild bug populations which thrived around her. She eyed over her competitors quickly. They all looked to be experienced trainers, and all of them seemed to be listening intently to the rules. Sara snapped her attention back to the park ranger explaining the rules. "... and with that, you should have everything you need to know to get going! May the best bug win!"
The other trainers all sped off in different directions, running towards the outskirts of the park. Sara turned and looked at the patch of grass right behind her and started poking around in it with her net's handle, prodding at the waist-high foliage as she started her search!

"EH?" Sara's face dropped as two gargantuan stingers poked up through the grass, followed by a third, and equally intimidating stinger. Sara gulped audibly, reaching for Momo's pokeball, which she had chosen to bring with her on this endeavour, and sent the donkey pokemon out with no hesitation. But this competition demanded that the bugs which were to be caught are in fighting shape, at the very least, and each wound that the foe had on it at the end of the battle was points which would be taken away at the final tally. "Alright Momo, just stay strong in there! Lets try to catch this thing quickly!" Sara shouted, tossing one of her 15 pokeballs at the beedrill! +119 words to Chingling egg  I don't think the previous post's words were added. |

Sara tossed the Sport Ball at Beedrill, soaring right over the large Twin Needle Pokemon's head. It followed the ball with a confused look, then turned back to Sara and Momo with an angry expression. It rushed at Momo and attacked her with a powerful Fury Cutter, causing Momo's stamina to boost her defense. BCC Encounter

Sara gulped as the ball she threw soared past the Beedrill. It would be one thing if the Beedrill had even moved, but the fact that it also just watched as the ball soared by meant that the problem was with Sara's technique. "Shoot," Sara said under her breath. Momo looked back at Sara with confusion as a powerful drilling Fury Cut smashed right into her side, knocking her down into the grass. Not one to be deterred by an attack, Momo quickly got up and planted her feet firmly on the ground. If it was going to be a battle of attrition, Momo wasn't going to lose. "Alright Momo, keep it distracted!" Sara said, reaching for another Sport Ball. Momo started sprinting towards the Beedrill, not as an attack, but simply to keep the Beedrill's attention focused squarely on the Mudbray.
Sara clutched the Bug-Net in her hand, dropping a Pokeball inside of it so that when she swung the net down on the bug pokemon, the Pokeball would be waiting inside the net. Hopefully, this would prevent the ball from missing once again. She squatted down in the tall grass, waiting for an opportunity to strike as Momo danced around the Beedrill, keeping its attention focused. As the bee hovered backwards towards Sara slightly... "HIYAA!" Sara shouted, leaping up and out of the grass as the Beedrill got close to her. About halfway through the manoeuvre, she reconsidered her choice as she eyed the three perilous stingers that the pokemon she was approaching. She gulped, but it was too late now. She just needed to make sure that her net came down faster than the Beedrill could stab at her, and its tiny head was the perfect target. She swung the net down quickly.
Momo noticed the ridiculous stunt that Sara was trying to pull, and charged toward her, ready to leap in the way of any attacks that might cause her trainer harm.

As the net swung down, the Sports Ball crashed into the beedrill's head, popping open and quickly sucking it inside before the beedrill could even think about stabbing at Sara with its needles. As the ball fell out of the net, it started shaking in the tall grass. Sara quickly hid back into the tall grass in case the beedrill escaped again. Momo quickly got in position in between the tall grass which Sara had obscured herself inside of, and the ball, which slowly lay rocking on the ground. With bated breath, Sara and Momo watched as the ball flailed about on the ground. The rocking ball slowed for a second, before busting open in a cloud of smoke. Momo winced and stepped backwards as the ball burst open releasing the pokemon which was stuck inside, but the Beedrill sure didn't look happy about what had just happened. It quickly fired off a poisonous sting, which found itself nestling into the neck of the Mudbray. Momo was looking worse for wear. "Shoot!" Sara shouted. "Hang in there Momo!" Sara yelled encouragingly, and then she quickly launched another Sport Ball towards the angry Beedrill!

The beedrill seemed to be taking a break from its assault, so Sara thought this might be a good time to fix up Momo's poison. It didn't seem like it was affecting her too badly, but Sara knew that if you left poison untreated, it would ravage a pokemon's health quite quickly. She shuffled through her bag quickly, until she found what she was looking for: A wrapped up and dried out powder! She had found it while she was searching around her estate at the Spice Caves, natural powders like this were native to the area and could be collected easily- as long as you could weather the onslaught from the wild pokemon that lived there! "Momo! Come here!" Sara called out to Mudbray. The beedrill just stayed in the air, watching Momo's every move, but it didn't look like it was going to attack just yet. Sara quickly dropped the powder into a water bottle, then swirled it around. "Alright Momo, drink up." Sara said, pouring the flask of water into the mudbray's mouth.

"Phew!" Sara said, as after all that waiting, the Beedrill simply decided to use string shot on her mudbray! Momo was looking healthier now, and at least not succumbing to the poison. Momo's hooves were thoroughly covered in the sticky webbing, but her goal right now was to protect, not to fight, so she simply did her best to flail around wildly, ensuring that she made enough commotion to distract the Beedrill from Sara. Meanwhile, in the bushes, Sara counted the Sport Balls she had left. Momo was in good fighting shape again, so it was worth trying to capture this Beedrill still! It seemed like quite a powerful pokemon, so hopefully, it would score well in the contest. She rustled through the tall grass, trying to get a sneakier vantage point of the Beedrill. Momo was doing an excellent job keeping its focus though. From behind the Beedrill, Sara loaded up another Pokeball into her net, and leapt from the grass, swiping the net down on the Beedrills head, the ball in the bottom of the net ready to try to capture the Beedrill once more!

Sara remained undeterred. As the Beedrill floated in the air, taking a precise look at Momo once more, Sara chucked another Sport Ball, still hopeful that there was some chance that the pokemon could be captured! Momo quickly got into position, dancing in a distracting way so that the Beedrill would maintain its focus, despite the fact that the donkey pokemon hadn't actually attacked the Beedrill yet, and the Beedrill really had no reason to be upset with the Mudbray. Momo whinnied excitedly, kicking up dirt wildly, not with the intention of harming the Beedrill, simply to distract!

"Huh, this beedrill is very... nonreactive." Sara thought to herself. Despite the onslaught of sport-balls coming its way, it hadn't really been attacking for a while. Perhaps all the breaking out of pokeballs was starting to take its toll on the beedrill. Momo danced wildly around, the beedrill just floated in the air, staring intensely. Perhaps the mudbray's dance had entranced the creature into not attacking? Sara had heard of pokemon attacks which would make your opponents pokemon become infatuated with your own, causing chaos in the opposing pokemon and convincing them not to attack your own, but Momo didn't know any of those moves... Or did she?
Momo twirled on her hooves, the hard dirt softening underfoot, allowing the mudbray to do what they did best, make a muddy mess. Sara watched the dance, trying to decide for a moment if there was truly anything special about it. She shook her head. Best not to focus on the dance lest she become entranced too! Time to focus on getting this beedrill into a Pokeball! Sara grabbed a Pokeball firmly in her hand, and got into her best pitcher stance. Her bug-net approach didn't seem to be working for her, so maybe a more forceful throw would convince the beedrill to stay put. "Yah!" Sara shouted, chucking yet another sport ball at the beedrill, trying to ignore the shattered pokeballs which lay in ruins below the beedrill.
