As Anton is waiting for things to begin, he tosses out a Pokeball and
Clingly appears. The mareep looks around and instantly lives up to her
name by getting as close to Anton due to the number of people as well as
other Pokemon.
"Yeah, I don't blame you, Clingly. I didn't realize this contest would be so popular. I think I even see some bug catcher over in the corner signing books and even bug catching rods."
Anton's curiosity gets the best of him as he walks towards the one who is signing things. As he gets closer, he overhears people gasping that they are actually in the presence of Bugsy the gym leader. It seems the gym leader is THE celebrity at this event. It would make sense with his reputation. Clingly is as close as possible to Anton without shocking her trainer. As nervous as she is, sparks are flying from her wool.
Anton knows his long term plan involves facing more gym leaders. When he
faced Falkner, he mention that the next gym in Azalea is ran by a bug
enthusiast gym leader by the name of Bugsy. As Anton continues to watch the crowd begging for Bugsy's attention, Anton thinks to himself.
So this is the famous Bugsy of Azalea Gym. He looks like he is just a boy. If he has this sort of fanbase, he must be really tough or so easy that people like him for simply giving away the badge. Maybe he just strikes the right chord with certain trainers who also like bugs. I wouldn't be too surprised if he also gets along with grass trainers since usually bugs are needed for many plants to survive but at same time bugs have a tendency to eat a lot of plants.
Upon hearing about the type of gym he will be facing, like any smart trainer, he did his research. From seeing Bugsy in person, Anton is not overly impressed but the look of the trainer means nothing while how the Pokemon they have means everything. Anton did find out a few things from other trainers who had lost to Bugsy about what the gym leader uses. It seems his scyther is famous for its speed. One thing Anton knows is his fire types aren't the fasted when compared to other types. The electric Pokemon, on the other hand, can have some really fast ones. The great thing about electric types is several have abilities that can paralyze the opponent or have moves which does. In turn, they can't be paralyzed by anything to Anton's knowledge. Bugs is definitely one type he needs to brush up on if he intends on facing Bugsy in the future.

"Yeah, I hear you, Clingly. Let us head up to the front of the group and towards the door. Maybe we can get out into the field area."
Anton and Clingly heads out the door and he reads the rules once again on the way out. He didn't have any real issues with the park limiting the number of Pokemon and forcing everyone to use the same ball the park provided. It makes sense to keep everyone as close to the same page. As the two make their way out the door, small sparks of static electricity jumps from Clingly to others which makes them jump out of the way. Anton is embarrassed but at same time does make getting through the crowd easier. Upon making it to the field, he sees even more trainers and a good number of flying and fire type. It makes him miss Fire Tail and Flamer but he can't rely on them all the time. If anything, once Clingly is powerful enough, she will be something that even Bugsy would admire. As he continues to scan the trainers, he sees a short girl who he almost didn't recognize. The only reason she caught his eyes is the Pokemon she is using. He runs up to her and calls out her name.
"Hey Aglaia, do you remember me? It is Anton. We captured a cramaraunt together a while back while I was waiting for my friend Selenia."
(OOC: 701 words, 600 to eggs, Tarlar if you want Aglaia to interact with Anton I am open for it. I also understand if she is a bit busy training the hippo.) |

A small chrysalis sits nearly hidden in the tall grass. It's bright yellow shell shines brightly through the bright green grass. The cocoon rolls its large eyes to glare at Anton as it growls in warning towards the young man. BCC Encounter

"It seems we have found our first bug, Clingly. I admit, I am not impressed with this one since the kakuna only knows harden. At the same time, we won't have to worry about being injured unless we do it ourselves. Let us start out with thunder shock. It is your first damage dealing electric attack so may not be overly strong. This fight may take us a while but this is why we are here. We need to learn what moves will do well against Bugsy when the time comes."
Clingly looks back at Anton and then starts charging up electricity. When enough is built up a large spark goes toward the waiting kakuna.

SP14 Clingy used Thunder Shock!The Kakuna glared harder, it was certainly not impressed with Anton either although that was only because of what he said. It was clear what was going to happen so it hardened its cocoon to be able to withstand anything he sent at it, unfortunately for it the electricity Clingy shot at it wasn't hindered at all.

"Alright, Clingly, this may be a long battle depending on how lucky I am with these Pokeballs they gave us. Let us use another thunder shock on it. If we are lucky, the kakuna will get paralyzed which should help us capture it." Anton listens to what his short friend said and laughs as the Pokemon she is using runs after the battle is over. "I am actually doing this for training against Bugsy. As you can by my entrance here, I did beat Falkner and still have desire to join the IPF. Clingly here needs a bit more training before I attempt to join IPF or face off against Bugsy. From what little I've heard, he has a nasty fast scyther who slices up opponents as if they are standing there. To my surprise, sort of, I think I saw him here signing autographs. He did have a decent size group. Once I am done with this kakuna, I think I'll join you. There is other things to fill you in on."

Anton looks at the kakuna and then down at the balls he has with him. He isn't really familiar with this type of ball so hard to know how well they work. He also knows he is on a timer for this contest so he tosses a ball at this kakuna. The bug Pokemon doesn't really have his interest but at same time he wants to catch up to Aglaia. The capture will also help Clingly get more experience.

After the successful catch, Anton retrieves the ball and wonders what he will do with it after the competition. He nor Selenia has any real interest in the bug gypes but maybe she could use it for her breeding project. He then runs towards the direction he thought he seen Aglaia go. As he runs in the direction, he sees what he thinks is a sandstorm. He is a bit uneasy getting too close so he calls out to Aglaia a few feet away.
"So, what you fighting this time? I have to admit this sandstorm is impressive. I think it is in line with rain dance and sunny day with the effects it does on the field. I finally caught the kakuna you saw me fighting. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the rest of the caught bugs if I decide to keep this one during the contest."
Anton keeps his eyes out for any more bugs coming for him while waiting on Algaia's answer. It also never hurts to watch another battle to learn about moves he has only heard about or Pokemon he never really seen. His schooling taught him mostly about the three starter types but did cover the other ones to some degree.
(OOC: Clingly forgets thunder wave for cotton spore and self updating.
I've got a feeling the speed reducing move will come in handy in this
bug hunt.)

I want to give Clingly as much experience as I can but it seems electric attacks aren't do much against bug types. It is also possible she is too weak for them to do much. Thunder Shock isn't the strongest and she may not learn the more famous moves like thunderbolt or thunder for a very long time if she ever does. I think she is getting close to evolving though. Then there is the time limit on this event and by looking around others have been catching or at least trying to catch other bug Pokemon. Part of me wants to win this thing but at same time this is much more of a learning experience. From what I remembered hearing, the kakuna is part of Bugsy team but this was a wild one and it is usually accepted the gym leaders' Pokemon are a whole lot tougher than the wild ones.
Anton watches and can't help but laugh as Aglaia's hippomon runs in another direction. It seems that friend of his always seems to have some Pokemon who misbehaves on her hands. If anything, this will make her stronger as a trainer if she is able to keep up with it. He then returns his attention to his own battle wondering what Aglaia meant by looking like another Pokemon.
It is possible this one is an evolved form of another bug Pokemon in this area. I don't know much about bug Pokemon so might be willing to trade this one to Aglaia once the competition is done if I am able to capture and decide to keep it. This contest is partially judged on the amount of health of the captured Pokemon so I wonder what good it would do for a ball now.
Anton looks down at the bag he was given at the start of the competition and decides to give a ball a toss. Clingly looks back at Anton after she sees the ball being tossed early instead of getting an order to attack. Clingly walks up to Anton and rubs her wool against Anton and he gets a strong shock. After the shock, Clingly baas at Anton who gets the message loud and clear.
(One sport ball tossed at kricketune to speed up the process.)

Clingly is mad at the bug for breaking out of the ball and for Anton wasting time with the ball instead of attacking. How often did Anton start out with a ball even with Selenia? He always attacked at least once for an easier catch. Her anger gets the best of her as she charges towards the bug with a take down. She doesn't care how much damage she gets from the recoil. This bug is going down even without Anton's approval. All he could do is watch as his mareep charges towards the target.

"Nice job, Clingly and I apologize for not letting you have a shot at the kricketune. We got to watch the time and the health of the pokemon in this contest. Hopefully with the damage you have done and the now paralyze on the kricketune, this next ball I will toss will be the one."
Clingly looks back at Anton and doesn't do anything this time as she watches her trainer toss another sports ball at her opponent. This contest is real different than the ordinary travels they do which she prefers. There seems to be too many rules with this hunt. Good thing she is here instead of someone like Flamer who would probably roast all of the bugs they encounter without listening to Anton. Strong Tooth probably would listen but might get bored like she is right now. Fire Tail would probably be too strong for this except for the toughest of bug Pokemon.
