After the surprise snowstorm Astrid was much more well dressed for when she set out to route 35 in search of a gligar, it had destroyed the two old friend's trip and now worked called again. Snow had clearly passed Goldenrod City as well even though it had quickly disappeared inside the city, being shoveled away and run into water. Route 35 which spread outside of the city was dusted in white, romantic and bringing back childhood memories and joy by the mere sight. Astrid allowed herself to remember the times where she had played in the snow with first her own kids, and later her grandkids, while she walked through the snow, looking for yet another elusive pokemon.
This time it was a gligar, and one which was already a part of the police force even but it had turned out to try avoid the training as much as possible. Recently it had caused an accident where table holding their pokeballs had been destroyed, along with the pokeballs of other in-training ipf pokemon and it had escaped somewhere into the wild. With it being a non native and non wild pokemon and with winter fast approaching, Astrid had been tasked to try find it and retrieve it. As it was known to be a tricky one, she had brought Amanda with her as well to be able to calm and slow it down.

Finding the escaped gligar turned out to be much easier than Astrid had expected. She hadn't gone far through the snow before a group tourists caught her attention. That was a weird place they were crowded, most tourist on these parts were going sightseeing for the view, the ocean or perhaps the outskirts of Ilex Forest, but here were they were now it was just open plains. "Perhaps a rare pokemon? Or some artist has made something interesting and funny out here?" She mumbled to herself and lead her two pokemon over to see. Of course, perhaps it was the guide who had build something funny for the tourist to see. Or as a tourist trap, trying to believe something stupidly amazing had happened out here.
The old woman stopped abruptly when she spotted the gligar posing for the cameras, doing an airshow to the cheers of the trourist. "A gligar!" Astrid exclaimed surprised, "the gligar," she corrected herself and frowned. "Oh, are you a trainer?" One of the tourist asked eagerly and Astrid confirmed that she was. "Are you going to try catch the gligar?" Another one asked just as excitedly and the old woman looked puzzled at them. "You know, gligars are really rare, right? At least in these parts, so it might be one of a lifetime chance for you!" "What are you up to?" Astrid asked suspiciously and they grinned. "Seeing a battle would be a highlight on our trip today!" One of them said, "yes! And especially seeing something as agile as Gligar in action would be wonderful!" Another added. "It would also be really interesting to see how you would handle it!" A third said and Astrid shrugged. "I was actually out looking for it," she said and turned to see what the gligar was thinking about it all. It looked a little reluctant until the tourist turned their attention to it again and and gestured for Astrid to bring all what she got.
"Ella, I need you to make it harder for it to see, and Amanda, be ready to take over and make it sleepy," Astrid told her pokemon to a lot of 'oohs' and 'aah' from the tourist when they heard her precise plan the old woman had, and they turned their cameras at the gligar to catch all the actions while Ella stepped forward and filled the crisp air with smoke.

Gligar really wanted to show off, and swopped about and slammed into Ella before she got a chance to filling the air with smoke. She coughed before releasing it, covering the area in a dark cloud, which made the spectators withdraw quickly. The gligar flapped its wings with little effect but found a updraft to lift it well above it. It grinned victorious, they were not going to outshine it that way! "You let your pokemon smoke?! Don't you know that's unhealthy for them?!" A woman exclaimed outrageous to Astrid, who looked at her surprised and didn't got a word in as the woman ranted about how she treated her pokemon badly. What looking to be her daughter was looking really embarrassed and tried to get her to stop. Ella looked annoyed and went straight to the woman, "frog!" She called loudly which made the woman flinch. "It is a natural move for her, I doubt she had ever touched a cigaret," Astrid explained, grabbing the chance when the woman was silent for a moment. The younger woman tugged urgently at the other's sleeve, but the woman looked suspiciously at Astrid. "It is like any other move, although I agree it is most commonly seen in fire types to puff smoke. An electric pokemon does not need to electrocute itself on a wire before being able to attack either after all," she said kindly and looked at Ella, "I also think that her smokes are mostly water vapor, and that the dark color comes from her secondary typing, please show them a bit of your smoke Ella." Ella promptly blew a smoke straight at their faces making them scramble back, cough and try hold their breaths. "ELLA!" Astrid snapped shocked and the frogadier ducked her head and shamefully returned to the old woman. "I am very sorry about that, she is not usually like this," Astrid said worried. "Well, we can at least say it isn't real smoke," the younger woman laughed as she wiped some of the dark water off her face, "right?" she added sternly to the older one who huffed and mumbled something as she turned her back. The younger looked resigned and sent Astrid an apologetically look.
The gligar had yet to notice that the focus wasn't on it anymore, and it dived straight into the smoke so fast it whirled around it and began to part. Its eyes widened in shock when it was Amanda it encountered instead of Ella, and after their clash it quickly gained altitude again to look for the blue frog. It gasped offended when it saw drama was happening right beside its awesome battle, which the group even had wanted going since they wanted to see it in action! How dared that frog take all the attention with her bad behavior instead of battling it as she was supposed to?! It caught a movement in the corner of its eye and it stared shocked at Amanda and her disrespectful behavior, she yawned! As if it awesome acrobatics had been boring and not worth her time. It was livid! It didn't really see that Amanda's eyes began to glow as she readied her next attack, nor that Astrid had found a pokeball which was handed to Ella. Time to bring this flying ground type back home. Astrid wasn't sure it was fit for the police work though and would take that up with her superiors who had the responsibility over the pokemon in training, she was sure she would find some fitting work for it, whether it was withing or outside the organisation.

For a moment the gligar forgot all about the spectators and the show it was trying to keep going and blinded by rage it swopped down to cover Amanda in cuts from its claws. How dared she be so unrespectful, it didn't see her surprised face or how she covered under its attack. "I'm sorry! What have a done?" She howled confused and the gligar gave her a few more furious swipes. "Done?! DONE?! You mocked me! I'm not going to stand idle and watch you diminish what I have been doing to awe people and say its nothing! Do you have any idea how much work it takes? Or how much joy they get from it?!" It screeched and Amanda looked shocked at it. "Mocked? How? It wasn't my intention!" Amanda said horrified and the gligar calmed down a bit to look at her suspiciously. "You yawned my straight in my face! If that's not to show me that you think my performance was boring I don't know what it was," it snapped and realization hit the psychic pokemon. "I'm so sorry! I don't know what I was thinking, I was just trying to get you to calm down a bit," she excused as she was squirming uncomfortable by his anger. The gligar huffed annoyed, "calm down? I wasn't agitated before you arrived and decided to destroy my work!" Amanda glanced at the spectators who was now looking at their direction again, and she blushed from the attention. It was probably true that it hadn't been upset before they came and it was certainly true that it couldn't perform in the same way when they were battling it, and that Astrid clearly just wanted to catch it and get over with the task. They hadn't wanted to destroy its performance, it was the spectators who had wanted them to challenge it and they had all accepted. Not that Amanda was going to say that, she wasn't the type who'd start arguments.
Amanda started when cold dirty snow slapped into her appendage which just flapped around not getting damaged by it at all. Amanda looked puzzled at the gligar who smirked grimly, "there! Now you aren't going to outshine me, looking dirty and all," it said and the chimecho looked down as the brown spots which slowly ran down her, had she had shoulder's she could have shrugged but she wouldn't have dared to do that, the gligar might have seen that as an insult as well.
"Why did you run away?" Ella called from where she was sitting and Gligar shot her a dry look. "You clearly haven't been there," it answered dryly, "it's all training and working and learning all the rules and doing thing effectively. I tried to show them how things could be done differently but they don't want to listen. I accepted to go there because they talked about spreading joy but how can I do that when I'm getting drained of it myself?" It spread its wings in the snow and turned its face upwards, "I am meant for something greater!"
It looked like the gligar was about to say something more but it slowly floated down and landed in the snow, flat on its stomach. "Well done Amanda," Astrid said as she made her way through the snow and hail to push a black and yellow pokeball at the gligar. "That's it?" One of the spectators complained and other mumbles where heard in the crowd. "I thought it would be so more agile and make the battle last long and be really pretty to watch, not that it would charge directly and then be put to sleep." Astrid smiled dryly, spoiled tourists.

It turned out to really just be it, the gligar slept peacefully as Astrid made her way through the snow and touched it gently with it. The ball shook in her hand but even that seemed drowsy and halfheartedly and soon it was captured. Disgruntled murmurs came from the spectators who had expected a greater show and Astrid turned to look at them sternly. "I hope you enjoyed the show, since this was it," she said as a matter of fact, "I can understand it was not what you had hoped but that's how it is when its pokemon. You never known how things is going to turn out and things aren't always going the way you want." She quickly added to address the most obvious complaints before they got each other worked up over the fact. "You were the ones wanting me to battle it," she reminded. "You could have waited trying to catch it! Or chosen a pokemon for it, so that it would do more acrobatics!" One of the tourist shouted, determined to make it her fault and scold her for it. Astrid looked at him sternly. "You want me to drag out a battle in this hail and for me to prolong the gligar's suffering just for you entertainment?" Astrid said coldly which clearly took the air out of his balloon. He looked away and mumbled something she couldn't hear. "If you want a pretty show to watch, go see one of the theatre pieces or street artist who specialises in pokemon performances like that! Real battles are best to be cut short if possible, no need to keep a pokemon in pain any longer than necessary!" She schooled them and the tourists mumbled ashamed and sneaked off into the whirling snow. Astrid shook her head, "I hope they learned something from this," smiled to her pokemon, "well done."
It was time to get back to the city as she had already successfully finished the task she had been sent out to handle. She recalled her two pokemon and followed her own footsteps through she snow, she looked down with her hood covering most of her head so she couldn't see more than a meter ahead of her, but she didn't need any more for following the way back she had come. The hail hurt and she was looking forward to be back. She had a feeling though, that the gligar didn't and that it might be best if it could find another place to be than with the IPF. She would talk with her superior about that when she returned, it wouldn't help anyone if they forced it to stay and do something it didn't want to do.

Astrid was deep in thought as she walked back towards Goldenrod, she had to pause and orientate herself as the whirling snow made her nervous she would get lost. Things looked so much different in the snow and she hadn't been around in this area much, she found a landmark she recognized even in the snow and the thoughts about the gligar flooded her brain again as she walked in the right direction. At first she didn't notice the snowpiles, assuming they were just covered trees or the snowstorm playing tricks with her eyes since it couldn't really have covered things that much this quickly? It was probably just smaller bushes or actually hills which had been covered and made them seem bigger. Astrid had been in heavy snowfall before and seen plenty of pretty pictures, she knew how that looked.
One of them began to move but Astrid didn't notice due to the snow whirling around, but the purple hide of the nidorino was standing out against all the white and that caught her attention. "Where did you come from?" She said surprised and the poison type looked intently at her and for a few moments they just looked at each other in silence. Astrid shrugged and gave it a polite nod, it didn't seem aggressive so no need to battle it. She continued on, and got thrown back into a snowpile as the nidorino rushed past her and gave her a hard nudge. "Ouph!" She gasped as she landed, happy the snow took the worst of the fall. The nidorino was now standing in the path she needed to take and right here there were plenty of big snowpiles and deep snow, which would be exhausting for Astrid to work her way through. She struggled back up on her feet and looked at the nidorino with a frown, it watched her calmly. "What was that for?" She asked and winced as she felt the sore spot where it had hit her, it stomped its feet and took a stance which showed it wasn't going to move an inch.
Astrid let out Janus, the tiny joltik didn't make any dent in the snow and would be able to walk on top with no problem. "Try see if you can get it to move, we need to get back to Goldenrod and this is the most direct way," she explained to her joltik. "Please move, we need to go through here to get back to the human city which you can see behind you," Janus paused and looked at the white snow which covered the horizon, no city was in sight at the moment. "There is a city, its a big place humans live together. She is old and needs to go the easiest way, which is this one." The nidorino watched the small bug and then shook his head. "Not this way," it stated as a matter of fact. Had Janus been a pokemon to ask questions he might have asked why the nidorino said that, but he didn't, instead he sent a couple of electric balls flying after the poison type. Astrid needed to go that way, and he was making sure they got that way no matter what. There couldn't be anything troubling ahead they couldn't handle, she had come this way the other way around right? The nidorino looked a tad annoyed when it realized what Janus' reaction to its statement was, but it was deadset on not letting them go this way as it was for their own good. Why didn't they trust it? It was such easy thing to go another way.

"Hey! I was trying to help you!" The nidorino protested when Janus' first electric ball flew through the air, it answered with a spray of needles and the ground around the joltik was littered with them. With so many in the air it had been impossible for Janus to dodge them if he had tried, he had been firing up another electro ball which he sent flying just before he got hit himself. The second one was more than what the nidorino could handle and it snorted frustrated as it staggered back. "Suit yourself! I was just trying to help you!" It huffed and spun around to trundle through the snow. "If you want to help others you need to know the problem first. Here it sounds like you think there is a problem but won't tell us what it is and therefore we cannot believe your claims when you are only telling us what you think is the answer," Janus rambled as he tried to explain to the nidorino what he had done wrong. "Well done Janus, let us get back to town and out of this snowstorm!" Astrid interrupted him and he looked around and realized that the poison type was already long gone and hadn't heard a word of what he had said.
It soon became clear why the Nidorino had tried to stop them, the snow had blown in between some of the hills and was way too deep to just go through. The nidorino had been right and they had to go around, it became a much longer trip than expected but they made it home eventually.
~Ending thread~ (ooc: Saxa evolves into Vivillon, doesn't learn anything new, self updated)
