Rock Pool: Senchi's Poliwag encounter

Senchi had lifted him self up from the snow gasping for air a little. The shear cold had taken his breath away not to mention his face had started to become numb. Well at least the hail had stopped pelting him in the face. It didn't do him or his pokemon any favors. Heck this entire situation didn't motivate him in the least. How could he have let him self get caught in this mess ? Eh oh well. The only logical thing at this point was getting to that cabin. Finally! Another trainer ! Was the first thing that came to the young trainers mind following his gaze traced the blue feet upwards. At first he had thought it was another trainer and started to think the heavens. His hope would be dashed as the swirl came in to view accompanied by the eyes. “Poliwag!" Shouting to no in general but the water type infront of him. His face flushed with excitement fighting to stand up in place. Either this tadpole belonged to another trainer or maybe it could lead him to shelter. “Hey wait! Wait for me!“ Pushing forward through the snow trying in a lot of ways not to lose sight of the Poliwag. Out of most water types from the Kanto region this was one of his type three favorites. Outside of Squirtle and Staryu. Poliwrath was super versatile thinking to him self. If it was a wild one then he had just hit the jackpot. If it was another trainers then it was still a win. At least he would be able in getting some company.

Drugging through the snow felt as if it was taking a toll on his body. He didn't know whether it was fatigue or his body just wanting to give up. He himself almost didn't want to or even find it within him self to push forward much more. Despite that he knew digging deep and following this Poliwag was the only chance he had. Stopping for a few moments watching it turn toward him looking back as if to make sure Senchi was flowing. “I promise little guy I'm right behind you. How much further?" Like the water type could really understand him. Maybe it could but at this point a conversation was nice to carry on at this point. Even it was one sided. He had been alone for a while now. In truth he pondered if he was going to die here. Geez! Where ever it was taking him felt as if it drugg on forever. The distance at least. It seemed like it knew the way. Senchi hoped at least. It was blind faith he was going on now. Was it crazy to put all his trust in the small tadpole? Maybe or maybe not. Truthfully what choice did the young man have ? He was out of luck! Out of hope! At this point he may be found by wherever decid to explore the islands years from now. Just digging up his bones like some fossil record. That's when he noticed something in the distance. It looked like a cabin and not a moment to soon. Jumping for joy a little as an old look out tower came in to view. It was the cabin he was looking for! The one he has set out to find when all this snow started. “Hello!" Saying again to someone that probably wasn't even their. Reaching the front of the cabin Senchi looked puzzled as the water type blocked his toward the door entrance.

As he attempted in moving forward toward the door Poliwag had once again halted his advance speaking to him for the first time. Not really understand what was being said Senchi tossed the device housing Neji. “Pidgey! Pig?" (“I seen you need my assistance boos. Whats the trouble?") It only took a split second for the avain type to fell the sting of the winter weather once more. It wasn't to happy about the snow but at least it wasn't being pelted by a barrage of ice falling from the heavens this time around. “Hey Neji can you find out what this Poliwag wants please?" “Pidgey. Pidg. Pidge?“ (“Sure thing. Hello their. What are you in need of?”) Once the Poliwag explained it's situation of the password and how it was a move and not an actual word. Neji just rolled his eyes a little. Was this enitre island filed with crazed water types? Or was his trainer just attracting the crazy ones?. “Pidgey! Pidgey. Pidg?" (“What do you mean the password is a move? That would make it a secret gesture instead of a word. Did you crack your head in the snow?" The bird type flapped it's wings hard generating a lot of wind and snow swirling about. “Pidgey. Pidgey." (“Fine I'll play your little game. I'm going to guess my gust attack.”) Neji said as it launched a single gust of wind lightly at the Poliwag only as a guesses to play along with the game.

"Incorrect, friend! Here's a penalty for getting it wrong!" the Poliwag squeaked at Neji, dancing around on its little tadpole feet cutely as it prepared a move of its own after hearing the words. Truth be told, it doubted that any of the moves known by this little bird were going to be exactly what it was looking for, but then again it had been wrong before. Wait, what even was the password? Had it forgotten already? Oh well, maybe if it played around with this new birdy buddy for a little bit, it could think about it some more and try to remember what the password was. The Poliwag stretched out on its tip-toes, pointing its spiral belly out toward Neji purposefully.

In Neji's eyes, the spiral on the Poliwag's stomach seemingly began to swirl, and the world around it begin to spin as the Poliwag began trying to put him under its Hypnosis. However, Neji seemed to pick up on this, his keen eyesight and natural abilities allowing him to shrug it off and proceed with his own plan of attack. Neji hovered over the air, beating his wings and flapping as strongly as he could muster, summoning up a small vortex of wind, dirt, and debris that he sent spiraling at the Poliwag.

The wind and dirt struck the Poliwag, knocking it flat on its rear for a moment, but before long the energetic tadpole leaped back up to its feet and shook off a bit of the dirt from its body. "Good try. Bit rude, but not quite right. Wanna try again?" the Poliwag squeaked, looking up at Neji with a light in its eyes. That last move had hurt, sure, but this was starting to get kind of fun. Maybe if it kept trying to keep them out of the cabin and stuck in the elements, they would stick around and play this game with it for a bit longer.

Neji circled the Poliwag wondering what it's game truly was. Whatever the move was it was looking for was probably a water attack. Gah! Crazy water type was more into this then he was. Either way it sort of reminded him of Emith a little. Perhaps a little more crazy? The fire lizard enjoyed battles way to much. This little water type was having fun to. But not for the same reason. It was a hard calculation why but did that matter ? Was it any different to make fun of your opoent then it was to relish the fight and honer the fight? He was sure it was. Maybe that would be something that was a question for Emith her self. He hadn't realized yet he was flying around in circles. The Hypnosis hadn't worked fully but it was enough in throwing the small flying type in a daze. If it wasn't for the cold air it probably would have worked wonders in putting the Pidgey in to a deep coma. Shaking his head finally able to snap out of it. What had happened? What type of an attack was that ? Thinking to himself. The crazy thing was it spiraled him in to a psychedelic trip. “Pidgey! Pidge" (“What in the? What did you do to me?") Neji asked fluttering around the snowy atmosphere. He looked over at his trainer who wasn't in much better shape.

“Senchi the first thing you have to rember about Poliwag is they are a tricky sort." “What do you mean father?" “See they are generally both tricksters and love to test theme self's against each other and any one they come across." His dad laughed as they set on a hill munching down on a few sandwiches and fruits. It was nice to have lunch with his father once more. “So tell me Senchi how is your training and travels going?" “Good actually. I have maid a lot of friends and caught many Pokemon on my journey so far.” “That's awesome son. So tell me how's your mother?" “She's doing ok. Time has allowed both of us to cope." “You both will be ok . You have your mother's strength and I know that's what drived you forward in these hard times.” " It doesn't mean I don't miss you though dad.” "Senchi I think our visit is over.” "But we just got here.” "Wake up son.” " Pidgey!” (" Hey snap out of it!”) A hard blast of cold snow covered the young trainer as Neji clapped it's wings together spraying his owner with snow and ice. The chill had knocked the breath out of Senchi for a few moments. “Gah that's cold!" He smiled at the Pidgey as it landed on his shoulder. Senchi thought hard about how the tiny Poliwag was a trixter and loves games and just smiled.

Eyeballing the water type up Senchi just whipped tears from his face smiling a little. “Hey Neji is this little guy trying to get you to play a game?" “Pidgey?" (“Eh.. Yes?") Laughing pointing his index finger toward the Poliwag. “We shall play your game little water type. Haha." Neji raised an eyebrow at Senchi as he started to worry about his trainer. What in the world has gotten in to him. Further more what did that tadpole do to his friend. “Pidgey! Pidge? Pidgey. Pidgey! " (“Hey you! What did you do to him? He's acting all goofy now. Undo it now!”) Senchi looked over at the Pidgey with a smirk. “Ok Neji listen up. I have a plan ok. Stay low and stir up some of the snow and wait on my single ok.” The tiny avain didn't know what his trainer had in store but he would do as he was told. Flying low as he picked up as much speed as possible. Circling the water type once, twice, three times, four times. “Now Neji flap your wings and spray it down with snow just like you did me. Sand attack!" Neji stopped as he flapped his wings sending a wave of ice, snow, and even sand at the Poliwag. Senchi wasn't acting goofy because of the hypnosis effects. In truth he was fighting back tears from the dream of his father.

The poliwag was a tricky one, so tricky it even couldn't keep up itself! Everyone knew that to enter a secret hideout, and this old cabin was known only by the poliwag of course, and that of course meant it would need the password from everybody else if they wanted to enter. Otherwise it could let them in, if it did it wouldn't be a secret hideout anymore and that would just not be right, that would take all the mystery out of it and it wanted to keep the world mysterious and fantastic. When it came to what the password should be, which it couldn't remember at the moment, it was certain that it would know it as soon as the right one was shown. It was the right password after all, and it could only be if it could confirm it, so naturally it would magically know when the right move was used.
It looked calmly as Neji flapped around frantically, he hadn't really been affected by its hypnosis since then he would be sleeping in the snow by now, but he seemed rather affected for some strange reasons.
It lifted its chin proudly, "that's what happens when you don't get it right!" It declared. "Do you dare to try again? Otherwise you will have to leave and try find another secret cabin, or a hole under a rock, or build something from the snow."

The poliwag pouted at Senchi's comment, "this is no game, its really serious! A secret cabin needs to have a password, and you need to guess the right one to get in!" It explained loudly, "you have to follow the rules!"
The water type sent Neji a strange look, "I did nada, if he can't handle the weather he shouldn't have come here." It looked at them with narrowed eyes when Senchi spoke quietly to his pokemon and the pidgey began to circle it, they were clearly up to something. "So.. what is your next guess?" It demanded to know, they had to go by the rules after all.

Suddenly the pidgey began flapping wildly and a whole wave of sand and snow at it.
"WRONG!" It shouted and shot a water gun straight through it all and hit Neji square in the chest, before it got buried under the remaining "wave". It fought to free itself, which was hard when you were round and only had stubby feet and a tail to help you. This was definitely not the right move for the password, it was sure of it!

The now wet feathers combined maid with a never-ending barage of cold forced Neji's body to shiver Pidgey ! Pidge? (That's cold! Can we end this, please?”) crying out to both the Poliwag and Senchi at once. Neji couldn't help but agree with the poliwag on this one. It most definitely wasn't a game. If they stock out here like this, they would all frezze to death. “Pidgey. Pidge. Pidgey?” (Hey look I know yor looking for a secret password, and I get that. The fact is if we keep this up, it's not going to end well for any of us, and we may all freeze to death. So let's all call a truce and enter the cabin to warm up ?” Neji had a feeling it wasn't going to convince either of the theme. Not that his trainer could understand any of that to being with. But if he could talk reason into the poliwag maybe together, they both could get Senchi to understand the situation. Turning his attention back toward the water type. 'Pidgey? Pidgey.” (“What do you say? Put this on hold for now, and we all go in.”) Neji was hoping for the best but was willing to bet his opoent wouldn't listen to reason.

Senchi, of course, didn't understand what the two pokemon were talking about. In his mind, they were still playing a game. It was true his pidgey didn't seem to be as interested as the poliwag was. It may be a great addition to his team as well. That particalr species of pokemon was amazing fighters and had a decent edge because of their large move poll. Maybe he could make this fun for everyone. Then maybe the poliwag would want to join theme on their journeys without a big fignr. It worked for snow and Azula. Of course, that wasn't the case here. The tadpole pokemon was bent on receiving some imaginary passwords. Neji just wanted out of the cold, and this fight to end. Either way, neither of those truth registerd to to the young trainer. Thinking hard on his next fun action, Senchi laughed as he spread his arms, running in circles around both pokemon. “Neji look i'm flying just like you! I know. Let's play tag.” Shifting his body from left to right laughing anothet false relisation came to him. “Neji! Use your gust attack and help that poliwag into the air. I bet it wants to fly just like you. Make sure you catch it in time so it doesn't get hurt, ok?”

Neji tilted his head to the side in curiosty. Had the poliwag been right ? Had his trainer subcome to the environment and cold ? To the bird type, his trainer was making zero sense. Now, the poor human thought he could fly. Flapping his wings frantically squawking at his trainer. “Pidgey! Pidge. Pidgey! Pidge.” (“Would you come to your senses! I'm starting to think both of you are slightly crazy. Boss, you can't fly! We need to get out of this cold.”) Wacthing as the human ran around in circles talking about a game of tag. Pidgey. Pidge. (“Please forgive him. He's not normal like this, I promise.”) Chasing his trainer around in a circle, keeping his eye on the Poliwag. What was he to do now? Mental Illinese had finally set in on his trainer. The young human was clearly suffering from delusions of grandeur. The water type had an imgganairy password that could end all this stuck in its head. To be honest, Neji was convinced that the password didn't exist. Neji himself just yearned for warmer weather and wanted out of the cold. Senchi's words confused Neji a little. They had already tried a gust attack that didn't work. “Pidgey! Pidge.” (“I'm truly sorry for this, but I have to do what my trainer says.”) Neji flapped his wings, sending out a gust of snow and wind toward the Poliwag.

"No password. No secret cabin." The poliwag stubbornly insisted. "You're a trainer pokemon anyway. Don't you have a ball or something to keep your warm and cozy? I'm not buying the excuse that we'll just freeze out here. Because YOU WILL BE FINE. You're just trying to trick me because you're human apparently didn't put on the right clothes this morning. You can totally just go back from where you came and warm up there." The now grumpy tadpole lunged forward and SMACKED the pidgey with its tail to knock it back. "Now shoo or guess correctly."

Of course that was when the human started acting bonkers.

"What...is he doing? Is he trying to guess the password himself? Because he's wrong too..." It puffed its cheeks. "And I DO NOT want to fly. Where did he get that deranged idea?"

The pidgey seemed apologetic before flapping its wings and forcing the tadpole airborn. The poliwag flailed, "CHEATER!"

“Pidgey? Pidge!” (“Guese corctley ? Why can't we just go inside and talk this out”) Neji flapped its wings in frustration as the poliwag was sent sailing into the air. “Pidgey. Pidge.” (I swear you water types. Boss, will you get ahold of your self.”) At this point, the small pidgy believed his trainer belonged in the looney bin. Senchi was now laying in the snow, making snow angles. “Pidge!” (“Oh for the love of Miltank will both of you please come to your senses!”) Huffing his chest out floating in the sky, attempting to grab the poliwag so it won't get hurt.

Senchi moved his arms back in fourth, finishing the snow angle as he stood up with a handfull of snow. Rushing forward, throwing the cold powder at both the poliwag and Neji. “Hey look guys! I'm a icetype pokemon!” Emptying his hands of the snow. It mixed in with what was already falling. Chuckling as he stooped in place. “Hey ! I got an idea. Ask Poliwag if he wants to join us.” Running in circles once more as he laughed. That's when Senchi noticed it. The poliwag was falling fast to the ground. At that moment, Senchi's goofi deminer disappeared. “Neji use a light tackle to brake its fall.”

Neji rolled his eyes as the snow from his trainer covered his feathers. “Pidgey. Pidge.” (“For the last time you're not a pokemon. Please stop throwing that it's cold enough here.”) It was clear the flying type was super agrovated with his trainer at this point. Now Senchi had really lost it. He wanted Neji to ask this poliwag if it wanted to come with theme. That's after Senchi keep acting like a mad man. Eh, what could he do. This was what the rest of his life would be like, he guessed. “Pidgey?” (“Hey my trainer wants to know if you would like to travel with us.”) At that moment, the poliwag was close to hitting the ground, and Neji was now freaking out. That's when Senchi's serious deminer struck his ears. FINALY! Thinking to himself. Neji dove under the poliwag coming up aiming to give a soft enougu tackle in hopes of not injuring the water type.

As the trainer lost his mind and played in the snow even more, making snow angels rather than conserving his warmth, poliwag oriented itself to catch itself when it hit the ground. But that was when the pidgey swooped down as if it hit it! Not listened to the exchange nor would it have trusted the stranger to break its fall, the poliwag let out a burst of water to try to slow its descent...which unfortunately nailed the pidgey in the back instead! The bird was knocked out of the air and slammed into the snowy ground...where the poliwag landed roughly on top of them, bouncing next into the snow bank.

They were both quite tired now and the pidgey had an ache in its wings and back...

"Join you?" it asked with disbelief. "I am perfectly fine as I am before you started flinging me in the air..." Shiver. "Even if it is cold. A lot."

Senchi had stooped to watch the exchange between the bird and tadpole. It didn't seem like Neji was very convincing. Not to mention the temperature had worsened. It cold now. Extrmley cold, and Senchi had regreated the snow angles. What to do.. What to do? He thought to himself as he passed back and fourth. Senchi looked over at Neji with a sigh. This battle was getting nowhere. The trainer knew a different approach was necary. “Hey Neji stand down and tell it we want to be friends. Tell it I have food, we can all warm up, and it's welcome to join us or leave after the storm.”


Neji was hurt. Badly infact and the cold had finally taken its toll on the small avain type. Knowing he couldn't go on forcing himself into the air once more. Giving a shiver. His body shivered from the snap of the cold. The icy winds laid down a blanket of snow once more. “P..i..d..g..e.. P..i..d..g..e..y..?” (“We.. can't.. keep.. this... up... Lets... all.. go.. in..side

… and... be.. frineds... your... free... to.. leave.. or.. come.. with.. us... after

.. the.. storm... What.. do... you.. say..? ”)


Senchi bent down, removing a few berries from his pocket. “What do you say, little guy?” Backing away slowly as he maid his way toward the door hoping against hope the poliwag would join theme and end this silly battle.

The poliwag and pidgey shivered in unison now. 

Neither looked comfortable.

So it was surprising to see the trainer so close, offering berries like that. It still looked suspicious, but...it was hungry after battling all this time in the freezing cold. Maybe a bite or two wouldn't hurt... While it didn't seem keen to give the password, when the poliwag was distracted by food, it was easy enough to offer it a ball. An accidental, curious nudge would result in the ball popping open and light enveloping it. The ball didn't even wiggle. Just fell silent and still.

The battle was over. The guardian of the door was captured, warm and resting within the pokeball that it now decided was home.

This wasn't so bad...
