The sky was bright the sun was shining, it made the white blankets embracing the forest nearby sparkle as though the snow were kissed with diamonds. A fresh snowfall was one of Eins most favoritist things in the whole wide world and watching such a scene was one of the only times he ever felt truly at peace. The wind was at rest, and the world felt bright, so why was the young trainer hiding at the bottom of an old well? Far from the bright light of day and in the cool earth, staying away from the light.
Well that answer came from the sound of a feminine voice calling with confusion. Ein....! Ein where areee you??" the voice was melodious, many a men would be drawn in like moths to a vibrant flame. The soft spoken trainer slunk deeper into the darkness. There was no denying that woman, that persistent she demon of the greatest most awfulest of kinds was waiting for him. Why could that person not leave him alone, all he'd done was pick up the thing she'd dropped and hand it over to her with trembling hands, why'd she taken such interest in him, the way she'd wrapped her arms around his and pressed herself against it. The memory of it made a tremble ripple through him, no matter how much energy he put into bulwarking his spirit, the presence of a woman made his entire body clench and reason flee with terror, so much so that down the well he went as soon as line of sight was broken.
There was a noise inthe darkness, a clatter of stone against stone and the rustle of something flapping. Reaching to his side Ein clicked a ball and the orb swelled in his hand with a flash of light he released his Wartortle Mesarthim, who stood tall swishing her tail as she looked around, wondering where they were. Staring at her trainer with intensity when the female voice called out again from the world above. "Look, I get it okay, but we're already down here there might be pokemon so lets just explore a little bit"Rolling her eyes at the pathetic sight of her poor cowardly trainer Mesarthim toddled next to Ein as the two headed into the Slowpoke well, searching for who knows what.

Ein might have wanted to take this opportunity to look for Pokemon, but it would be very apparent to him in short order that something was amiss. Normally one wouldn't be able to take more than a few steps through a cave or rock formation like this without some kind of Pokemon leaping out at you over some imagined slight; perhaps you had stepped on their tail without realizing or had just strayed to close to their den. But for these first few steps, Ein and Mesarthim would only be able to hear the sound of their own footsteps and their breathing. Occasionally the sound of dripping water, coming from the rock ceiling, might punctuate the silence. But the sound of Pokemon and of life itself in the cave was conspicuously absent. But as they entered one of the dark tunnels beneath Slowpoke Well, a faint moaning noise could be heard cutting through the darkness. Easy to miss, but lying on the cold stone floor was a man; elderly, and dressed in plain yet comfortable yukata. He lay on the ground, struggling to move very much and clearly in great physical pain. Anyone who had any knowledge of Johto and its traditions, or of Azalea' local celebrities, would recognize that this man was Kurt, the famous Poke Ball craftsman. He looked at Ein, a pained look in his eyes. "You there, don't go any further! The Slowpoke Well has been...taken over, by some ruffians from Team Rocket," he groaned, trying to rise to his feet but failing as his hand flew to a spot on his back. He grimaced, suddenly unable to look Ein in the eyes at his own shame. "I came down here to try and give them a piece of my mind, but I fell and hurt myself before I could even reach them. The people of Azalea hold the Slowpoke who live in this well very close to their heart; they're sacred little creatures, who brought us great fortune long ago in the town's history. But Team Rocket came by and started abducting them, cutting off their tails to sell for their illicit deeds. I can't let this continue, but I can hardly move."It was then that Kurt's gaze flittered over to Mesarthim, the Wartortle that toddled by Ein's side. Wartortle was a strong 'mon, and many Trainers seemed to struggle with getting Starters to evolve or getting this far into their journey. Union Cave was rather treacherous at times, after all, and things had only gotten more dangerous for new Trainers now that Team Rocket had become more active in recent times. Maybe this was a sign that Kurt wasn't meant to do this alone? "I hate asking this favor of you, my boy. But someone has to stop them before they hurt the Slowpoke even worse. I beg of you, please do something to save our Slowpokes from this fate," Kurt pleaded, the proud and usually stern man taking on a more gentle tone. "There are many grunts, so it will be dangerous for you to go in and take them head-on, but if you can sneak past these hooligans, you should be able to reach the Slowpoke without too much trouble."Kurt awaited Ein's response, silently pleading that the young man would agree to it. Someone had to do something before Team Rocket's operation got out of control, or before they began trying to steal the Slowpokes from those in the town rather than just the ones that lived in their Well. Privately, Kurt was also concerned about what had become of Totodile, the unofficial guardian of the Well, whom they had heard nothing from ever since the Rockets' occupation of the Slowpoke Well. He really hoped that the local Slowpokes and their friend were safe. The Poke Ball Maker, Kurt, needs your help rescuing the Slowpoke from Team Rocket! Will Ein accept this request?

A jolt ran through Ein’s spine like an electrical shock, apprehension gripped him as the moaning reached his ears, the first and more prominent thought in his head was it’s a ghost, oh I’m gonna die!. There was a tremble in each step as he hesitated, only to be shoved on by his pokemon, who rolled her eyes at the cowardly trainer. She pointed ahead at the man who was struggling to move, and Ein’s eyes opened wide as the trainer rushed forward to kneel down ”Ar… the old man cut him off.
Ein listened to him speak and when the old fellow tried to move the young man felt himself wringing his hands, he wanted to help the fellow up and out of the well, but the man Kurt, although Ein didn’t really know who he was kept speaking. Listening and nodding attentively, soon there was a terrible spinning in his brain, Team rocket!? Cutting off tails, Can’t continue!? CAN’T MOVE?! He did not like where any of this was going, not even like the slightest amount. Then came the worst of it, the old injured man at the bottom of the wall, he spoke so softly and tenderly that the concern and love he felt for the pokemon that were suffering stirred something inside of him.
There was a heavy moment of silence that filled the air like some great form of tension waiting for an answer. Mesarthim stood with arms crossed her, tail swishing side to side like she too were considering the request made by the old man. His blue eyes were unreadable, a gentle breeze wafted through making a soft woosh sound and it tousled the soft black hair. Looking to Mesarthim who opened her eyes and looked back the trainer and pokemon nodded to one another. Taking a deep breath in and releasing it, looking right into the old man’s tormented gaze. ”This is completely irresponsible, absolutely not, we are getting you out of here and calling the poliyyeaaaaah!!” The Wartortle bit down on his leg hard. There was a flash of pain and Ein flailed in the darkness trying to pull her off. ”OW OW ow ow ow ow okay! Okay okay! We’ll do it! We’ll do it!” it took several more moments before the growling turtle was removed from his leg.
”Alright, Mr, we’ll head in, you stay here and don’t move, you shouldn’t hurt yourself any further” Rubbing his leg the young trainer reluctantly agreed to the old man’s request and the two of them said farewell and began to make their way deeper into the cavern.
Ein declined the request Ein accepted the request!

It didn't make Kurt happy to be asking some strange young man for help like this, but he was left with little other options given his own injury and the level in which he was in over his head. One old man was not going to be able to take on all of Team Rocket on his own even if he was healthy, but now he was in no condition to even climb the ladder back up to the surface without help. He was just glad that someone other than his granddaughter had come looking for him; though it really would've been better if it had been someone like Bugsy rather than a total stranger. Still, you can't look a gift horse in the mouth, so while Kurt made a slightly displeased face at the boy's initial declining of his request, his face returned to a stony expression at the sight of the Starter Pokemon 'convincing' its partner. Kurt didn't like the idea of someone being strong-armed into a mess that he had started, but the Slowpoke needed to be saved. Kurt tried to sit up, gritting his teeth in pain as he appraised the pair before him. "This will mean so much to the people of Azalea, I won't be able to thank you enough for all this. If you can get to the deepest part of the well, there is one Rocket giving the orders. I saw him when they first came to town, they called him Proton. Defeat him, and they will have no choice but to abandon their plans here.""I shall wait here for your return...and try to regain my strength," Kurt agreed, returning to his lying down position on the ground as he bid the young man and his Wartortle farewell. As Ein descended even further into the dark dampness of Slowpoke Well, he and Mesarthim would eventually find a more narrow hallway. On one side, an expansive pond lay out before them. Once this pond would have contained countless Slowpoke, lounging about lazily as they were wont to do. But now, it was barren and empty. Deeper, near the end of the hallway and facing the pond was a Rocket Grunt, beside him a floating Zubat and a rather large fishing net in his hand. C'mon Brucie, you gotta use that echo-locomotion thing and find us some more Slowpokes, or the Boss is gonna have my hide," the Rocket Grunt insisted to the bat. If the bat, Brucie, noticed the man's pleas, it was unclear. The two were searching for more Slowpokes to profit from, despite the well seeming truly picked clean. Maybe if Ein could find a way to get past Zubat's echo-location or the Grunt's natural senses, he might be able to get by without a fight. Then again, maybe Mesarthim wanted a chance to bite something other than her Trainer. A rather inept Rocket Grunt and his Zubat are blocking the path! Will Ein try to sneak by them, or engage them in battle?

Ein lowered his head in respect to the elder, and also as a way to hide the fact that the young man’s cheeks were so red you could use them as a beacon to call a dragonite on a dark foggy night. The sweat that perspired around him was in direct opposition to the cool damp atmosphere of the cavernous well that they were standing in. ”Yes Sir please rest” He managed to speak with a gentle touch of concern as the trainer and mon headed deeper into the darkness, carrying with him all of the worries and regrets he could bear.
The cavern narrowed and finally they came to a large pond beneath the town, how did the town not sink into the land with such an expansive cavern beneath them. He wondered if there were caves beneath caves, the fact that it was empty, was eerie. There were marks and prints of all sorts, and the water didn’t appear stagnant, Ein didn’t know much but he knew enough that there should be things down here, something. Mersathim waddled over her tail swishing as her ears, larger than a human’s perked at a sound, and a short time later Ein’s feeble human ears also picked up on the sound.
The two got down low and used the rocks for cover as they made their way across the darkness towards the source of the sound, they peered over the rocks. Witnessing the display between rocket Grunt and Zubat, the two had a discussion between them. Mostly it consisted of whispering Let’s sneak past them War! her guttural growling and gesturing in the darkness
We don’t know how many there are!
growling intensifies. I have gym badges aren’t you supposed to listen to me?? Wararrrrr warrr!! The whispering turned into a growling shout, all pretence of stealth forgotten in her fury. Mesarthim stomped her feet and blasted Ein with a spout of water hitting him in the face. ”bbabalbabblbybnooobblll” Falling backwards onto his butt, staring up at his Pokemon, the trainer began to rise. For the moment their bickering let the rest of the world be forgotten, including the rocket grunt.
[[You can just start the battle by the way, Mesarthim vs the bat]]

Tall and deep caves were often carved out from very solid rock over eons in a world with water and rock types who could really wreck havoc. It would take a bit more than some surface building to break down a well like this, besides, who said that these tunnels lead in below the city? The area was wild and surrounded by an enormous forest, it could just as well go in that direction. Ein would need a very good sense of direction to know exactly what would be above him, while he was down low. The grunt gestured impatiently to his zubat who fluttered out over the lake and tried to penetrate the water with its soundwaves. It did not work very well as it just bounced off the surface, and the little which got through, bounced back below the other way around and most likely would just chase off any remaining slowpokes with their annoying voice. "We haven't reached out quota yet Brucie! I can't afford being in any more dept! You really need to find me at least a couple more, so I'm on the one handing in the least," he urged his bat as if it was just because it didn't understood the direness of the situation, and not because his tactic was a complete disaster. "Brucie, focus! What is it!" The grunt said annoyed as the zubat tilted its head towards one of the tunnels leading away from the cave. "We don't have time for this! Stop paying attention to the other zubats, you.." He stopped himself abruptly when he suddenly also could hear something and he looked in that direction wide eyed. "Who's.. who's there?" He called out not very loud, was it ghosts? He swallowed and quietly moved closer, and his mouth fell open when he saw the wartortle attack her human. "Phew, it's just a trainer," he said relieved to himself with a hand on his heart, and then frowned. There weren't supposed to be anyone down here now, he perked up a bit, if he returned to Proton with an intruder he would be excused for lacking slowpokes and praised for protecting their case! "Brucie, confuse that water pokemon!" He ordered in a whisper, which was all the keen eared bat needed, it flapped over and began to bombarding the wartotle with soundwaves which went straight into her brain and made a mess and gave her a great headache. Wartortles eye’s spun in her head, and the commotion by their enemy gave Ein a moment to turn to see. His heart froze, his spirit sank and his mind wanted to bang it’s self off the cavern wall, which could be in any direction until he was laying on the ground. A heavy groan tried to escape his lips and there was a tremble that rippled through him, that made the young trainer consider that there were tremors and quakes in the land its self. Mesarthim stumbled about clutching her head, the two of them were caught off balance!
This wasn’t a regular battle, this was a serious thing fighting a real live criminal, the old man’s words echoed in his mind just as the Zubats scream bounced off the cavern walls. It hurt Ein’s ears, but Mesarthim was far more adversely affected, they were up the creek without a paddle, so the saying went. Grimacing his mind spun, they couldn’t run not like this, the scary thug was bigger than Ein, all he could do for his reeling mind to find traction was to utter the words. ”Mesarthim! Come on, turn that water gun too Zubat! . Well they were up the creek without a paddle, but Mesarthim was a water pokemon, did that make sense? Not really, but that’s okay.

The Grunt wasn't sure if the others would hear the sound of combat, or the sound of Zubat's cries. Maybe they would assume it was a wild bat, or that he was trying to track down some stray Slowpokes rather than actually fighting an intruder. After all, why would someone ever assume that they'd have intruders here? Who would be dumb enough to step up against Team Rocket, this Grunt wondered to himself. He wasn't even sure why Ein was here, putting his nose where ti didn't belong. The way that Ein seemingly ignored him and refused to speak to him only made him angrier, reminding him of all the people that had looked down on him when he had first tried (and failed) to start his own career as a Trainer. "The tough guy, silent act thing don't impress me none! Maybe if you come along quietly, I'll let you keep one of your Pokemon," the Grunt said bitterly, scowling as nastily as he could toward Ein and Mesarthim. Not this one, though; this Grunt was already beginning to formulate some plans about what he could do with a Wartortle like this on his side in Team Rocket. All he had to do was get it away from this kid. "Brucie, give 'em a good Poison Fang!"Brucie flapped his wings stronger, his miniscule fangs glowing purple and lengthening ever so slightly as he swooped in to strike at Mesarthim. For her part, however, the bulky turtle reared back her head and released a torrent of water from her gullet. The water struck Brucie, stopping him in mid-air as he tried to maneuver around the aquatic assault. After a moment of continued attack, Brucie broke free from the attack and flew in closer, bringing his fangs down on the arm of Mesarthim. Mesarthim grunted in pain, but swung her arms around, knocking the bat away before its poison could be properly injected into her system. "Brucie, what're ya doing? We gotta poison 'em if we want this strategy to work!" he scolded the bat, though the Zubat seemed undisturbed by his Trainer's cutting words. The blank-faced bat continued to hover in place, flapping its wings in a futile attempt to remove the moisture from them.
