The Princess Takes Pity [Dying Wish]

“Oh, you poor thing!”

Shinju stared down at Kent, her expression carefully mimicking concern.

Where in the world were this boy’s parents? No one wanted to see a sickly child out in public. He should have been at home with his maids attending to him, or better yet, a hospital where he could be treated by the amazing power of science and technology. Yet there Kent went on, rambling about dreams and wishes and Vivillon patterns.

His tenacity despite the circumstances was certainly admirable, Shinju had to admit, but now he was putting her in a terrible position. Why would she ever give away so many Pokémon that she had put in all the work and effort into raising? Perhaps sending Kent the Vivillons from her family's private gardens would suffice…

She stole a glance at Kent’s sickly frame and sighed. No. No, it wouldn’t suffice at all.

“I suppose I can assist you somewhat,” Shinju acquiesced, putting on the airs of an exasperated older sister. Oh, just what am I going to do with you? She took the Scatterbug that Kent offered and smiled brightly. “You’re going to have a beautiful collection very soon.”

(Scamming an innocent child, and an ailing one at that—Shinju wouldn’t dare risk such a scandal!)

Finally weather was clearing up and spring was on his way, Kent was thrilled that he would get a chance to get outside again and even his parents seemed a bit more hopeful. It had been horrible to be locked up inside all day during the winter, his parents had acted like he was on deaths door! Crazy thought! Yes, he was sick and more than his friends but come on, he was a kid, it was old people who died, not young ones.
Even if Kent was sick, he was a kid and a kid couldn't be held down all the time, he'd find a way out. Just like he had now, sneaking out while his parents chatted and aired out their house and blankets, smiling for the first time in months. He'd pay for that later, in more than one way but he was a kid so he wasn't thinking about that.

He strolled out into the street and made sure to not being able to been seen from his house, he would quickly tire out but he was too thrilled to be out in the fresh air and feel the sun on his face. He grinned when a trainer came up to him and he waved eagerly, pausing only here and then to cough.
"Hii! Are you traveling and seeing the world? I really would love *cough* to see the world too and when I get big I will! I really want to see the mountains, I have heard you can see so far! Have you been in the mountains? I have heard that it is really pretty, and really dangerous too! Especially *cough* if there is snow! You might get caught in an avalance!" He chattered away, happy to just talk to somebody who was not his parents and who wasn't talking about his sickness and worrying about him all the time.
He clenched his jaw but otherwise ignored Shinju's pity, he was fine!
"I can't wait until I'm old enough to travel! My Dad says it will be a long time though, I hope it will be soon since I really, really want to see the pretty wings of vivillons!" He gushed and held out a pokeball and released a black bug, "See?! I already have a scatterbug! This is Buggy! I saw them in the tv once *cough* and they were really pretty but with Buggy I can only get one, and if I don't start soon, I might not get them all. And that is what I want! I want to have AALLLL the vivillons and have them around me, that could be so awesome! That's my biggest dream!"

His mouth fell open when this lovely lady offered her assistance. "You will?! Oh thank you! Thank you thank you thank you!" He exclaimed and then got overwhelmed by a big coughing fit which made him unable to say anything for quite some time.
"Stupid cold! I have been sick all winter, its so stupid, I hate it!" He complained to Shinju and changed mood in a blink of an eye.
"But you really want to help me get all the vivillons?" he asked and beamed when it was confirmed, "did your hear that Buggy? *cough* You are going to get lot of babies and you'll all fly with me!"
Kent eagerly and very trustingly handed over Buggy's pokeball and patted the bug goodbye.
