While the Dark Type educator wasn’t entirely surprised to find such a dense forest teeming with life, she was taken aback slightly by having a wild Pokemon drop out of the tree onto her. She stepped back a few feet and searched through the tall grasses with widened, surprised eyes when she noticed a small white cocoon laying relatively motionless on the ground. What was this again? They were native to this region, and she supposed it made more sense for them to be populous in areas with lots of trees and natural foliage overgrowth. Cocoons often needed larger plants that they could spin their sticky threads against the rough bark and cling to. They also needed plenty of camouflage to keep them safe from their natural predators.
Was this…a Cascoon? She wasn’t sure. It wasn’t a Metapod, as they were bright green and their shells were often pretty tough and durable, in part thanks to their constant hardening to make themselves tougher and harder to crack. Likewise, it wasn’t a Kakuna. They were known to be bright yellow and were often found near protective Beedrills that would chase off would be predators, from what warnings Mishu had been given by excited bug catchers on their own treks to catch such bugs for their collection. Spewpa were known to have some white on their body, weren’t they? But weren’t they generally more mobile, even if that was a rarity with cocoons? “I can’t quite put my finger on you.” Mishu admitted aloud as she hummed to herself. “I believe you’re either a Cascoon or a Silcoon, given the region.” She nodded thoughtfully.
Kumaneko balled her paws into tight fists and pressed herself against Mishu’s side. This human was strange and sometimes focused on everything but preservation and becoming stronger. Ordinarily, the small black and white panda would have completely abandoned any human that seemed to stand in her way. But Mishu was kind and caring. She was intelligent and able to focus on the best moves for them to use when she needed to. She just seemed to view the wilderness around her separately from regular battles with other trainers, which confused Kumaneko. “You better not mean any harm!” The Pancham snapped firmly, kicking out her foot to try and sweep Silcoon off the ground as quickly as she could and add a few more inches between them. “I won’t allow any harm to come to her!”
Mishu walked over and swooped her small bear up into her arms with a shake of her head. Getting used to a fighting type was quite a challenge. It wasn’t hard for Mishu to see how they earned their typing. They seemed ready for a match beyond the normal predator or prey reactions of other creatures, as though it was an innate and driven need just to spar. “I’m pretty sure the bug doesn’t mean us any harm. Please sit this out, ok?” She placed Kumaneko down a few feet away and called out a small, floating jellyfish instead. “Ika, do you think that you can help this little guy up back into the tree?” Would it be better if she let nature take its course, or if she helped it back up into the tree so it could camouflage better? Whatever, she was going to help it.
While Ika floated around and searched about for a second, Kumaneko calmed down a bit and blinked as Silcoon spoke directly to her. “Sticky barbs, yeah? What about them?” The panda asked, crossing her arms over her body firmly displeased that her trainer just swapped her out like a cold slice of cheese. “Why would it be a bad idea to take them out of the forest? Why does that matter?” Kumaneko demanded, wanting to understand why this bug was so distraught by such a simple and mundane thing. Well, really just annoyed that she had been removed from the fight. Ika floated close to Silcoon with a sweet smile. “Did you accidentally fall out of the tree?” She asked softly. “My human wants me to help you back up into the branches. Are you ok with me helping you?” She wanted to make sure.

The Pancham kicked the ground to scoot the Silcoon and keep their distance. The mostly immobile cocoon Pokemon already had used its strength to drop down, so it did not do any dodging or attempt to block the hit. The self-contained Pokemon closed its eyes and seemed to brace for something, as its cocoon shone brighter. "Those sticky barbs would ruin your shirt! I've seen it happen!" It protested and exclaimed. "They also spread very fast and very quick! They can be very annoying to remove if they set foot! It's best to leave them in the forest!"Soon, the feisty Pancham was joined by a floating pink and blue critter. "I did not accidentally fall out of the tree! I made myself drop down to tell you those barb seeds are bad! Can you tell your human to pluck them off?" It hummed and exclaimed again, as its cocoon shone brighter by another five degrees. Ika frowned as she watched the small white chrysalis seemingly panic over the sticky barbs on Mishu’s outfit. She hummed to herself and swung her tentacles around underneath her body while trying to decide what to do. Maybe the bug did need some help getting back into the tree and that’s why it was freaking out in the moment? “Hang on, little one.” Ika tried to reassure Silcoon, reaching out with her tentacles to try and wrap them around the other Pokemon as gently as she possibly could. She needed to lift its up carefully towards the branch above her, but in a way to ensure she didn’t drop Silcoon either, should she manage to get a firm grim on the other Pokemon.
Mishu smiled and watched her gentle Pokemon carefully handle the situation with ease, unaware of the problems that was being caused by the small plant’s sticky barbs that clung to her denim jeans, shoes, and even her shirt. She might have taken more notice to it if she weren’t wrapped up in her own world of problems. She still needed to determine what caused the Pancham to venture into Azalea and ruin so many of the townsfolk crops if she could. Mishu was beginning to wonder if that was a dead end in itself. Perhaps, it was an anomaly that managed to solve itself in the end? “Be careful, Ika. You can easily hurt Silcoon if you’re not careful.” She gently warned her floating octopus.
“I’m trying to, I promise!” She called back, focusing on what she was doing. “Oh..sorry, sorry!” She cried, not realizing that she wasn’t being as helpful as she wanted to be. Silcoon chose to drop out of the tree. Why? Just to warn her trainer of the dangers of carrying those strange sticky barbs? When Silcoon mentioned plucking them off, Ika’s eyes lit up and she attempted to pluck a few that clung to Silcoon’s hardened shell. “You mean like this?” She asked innocently enough, hoping to manage to carefully pluck them away and spit them out onto the ground near them. “I think I can do that, sure!” She smiled.
Kumaneko sat by Mishu’s leg and rolled her eyes with a loud huff underneath her voice. This was going to be a long fight if Mishu was letting Ika handle it! All this kindness and caring nature was starting to turn the little panda’s stomach. When Mishu reached down and gently patted her Pancham on her head, Kumaneko swatted at her hands and growled loudly. “I don’t need pets!” But Kumaneko couldn’t help grinning from ear to ear, then eventually stood up and pressed her head against Mishu’s hand as her trainer pulled away to give her space. “Well, make up my mind, Kumaneko.” Mishu laughed, reaching back down to gently pet her small bear once more while she watched Ika carefully try to help Silcoon out.

"Noo! Stop! Do not put me back up on that tree! Are you deaf? Did you lose your hearing?" The Silcoon screamed, and flailed verbally due to lack of anatomical evolution. It wasn't happy with this predicament as it had no appendages. "I am telling you! Put me down! Or I will pray Arceus to smite you with a mighty judgment! I will pray to Lugia to spin you in a storm! I will pray to Ho-oh to burn you to crisp!" It protested loudly and futilely to deaf ears. As if that wasn't enough, the Inkay managed to pluck at it with her small little beak at the little Silcoon. "I am taken hostage! I am being abused! Someone call the Ilex Ranger!" No one knew what the Ilex Ranger was, maybe a group of tough Pokemon who lived here? Or a fictionalized organization in the Silcoon's head. "Don't pluck at me! Pluck at the human's cotton cocoon!" It didn't know what the word "shirt" was, but it was trying to convey something to the dumb group here. Ika paused in confusion as she held on tight to the small cocoon. It was squirming and trying to break free of Ika’s grasp, making it harder for the small squid to hold onto the small Silcoon properly. She shook her head and squeaked softly underneath her voice as Mishu watched from the sidelines and wondered what was making it so difficult for Ika to complete the task. “You really don’t want to go back into the tree?” Ika asked softly and kindly. “Wouldn’t that make you more vulnerable to your predators?” Or did Silcoon not worry about predators in the deep wooded areas of Ilex? It truly didn’t make any sense why a wild Pokemon would put their entire life at risk to warn some passing stranger of these strange sticky barbs on their clothes.
“Hmm…this isn’t going as planned, is it?” Mishu stated aloud. She couldn’t expect that it would go easy, especially if the wild Pokemon didn’t understand what they were trying to accomplish. How could it assume the best of their intentions, anyways? Wooded areas were rife with predators just as they flourished with prey. Surely, the chrysalis worried about avian predators swooping out of the skies above to seize them up inside of their sharp talons and carry them away to their nests? Perhaps, given Ika’s strange shape and the way she floated around in the air, Silcoon thought Ika to be a wild bird come to dine on it? “Ika, try to calm it down first. Reassure it that you mean no harm?” Mishu urged.
Ika nodded her head firmly as her tentacles swayed underneath Silcoon’s weight. Though Silcoon wasn’t very heavy on its own, its constant flailing about made it feel like a ton of bricks as Ika struggled to keep a strong grip on Silcoon. “Calm down, little one, please.” Ika urged softly as she clung onto the wild cocoon. “We mean you no harm. Understand? There’s no need to place curses on us for just trying to help you out.” Ika continued, trying to persuade the little bug. She half-turned to Kumaneko and nodded towards their trainer expectantly. Maybe if Silcoon saw them removing some of the strange barbs off Mishu’s clothes, that would help relax the small bug down? Ika had to hope that it would help. “Kumaneko, can you remove those sticky plant barbs off Mishu’s jeans?”
Kumaneko crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. Of course she would be put to work in ways that she didn’t readily agree with. Why was she being placed on clean up duty, anyways? “They’re literally not even hurting her.” Kumaneko snapped. Ika only nodded her head further as she turned back to Silcoon. “Fiinnne!” Kumaneko huffed, turning to her trainer and carefully plucking the small barbs off her jeans. Mishu gasped as she glanced down and noticed what Kumaneko was doing, then laughed. “Oh? I’ve accidentally picked up some plants in this forest, have I? We should leave them here, so we’re not spreading them accidentally.” She reached down to clear the rest of the barbs off her clothes, helping Kumaneko pluck them off one by one. Ika turned back to the small Silcoon with a nod. “Better now?” She asked, attempting to pluck any that might still be hidden on Silcoon as well.

"You can put me back on the tree once you pluck those seeds off!" The Silcoon replied to Ika gently, seemingly calmed down a little as long as its goal was met. It hummed calmly. "Oh, those weren't curses for you, they were blessings for me." Well, one man's curse would be another man's blessing, or was that how the saying went? Its eyes lit up happily when the strange Pokemon with a beak asked another fellow Pokemon to check up on the human. When the bear looking creature and the human investigated their clothes to pluck off those basically invasive wild plant's seeds, the Silcoon cooled down quite a lot and was able to speak in a calm manner. "Thank you! Oh, I have one too? The Forest is not just some rosy living art! Please just remember there's darkness in the bushes, or lurking in the shades too!" It didn't mean that like an ominous tone, as it was mostly talking about the spread of invasive plant species that could quickly take over a simple and humble garden.
