alternative pokemon obtain method: boss battle

basically like the lugia battle, with its additional hp and buffs
except it's your own character, and you use your own pokemon
the alternative obtainable pokemon will be character bound or account bound (so no trade essentially)

I don't have an example of this.
maybe like Axew from recruitment?
but you'll be fighting mid evolution or final form with its boosted hp and stats
heck, maybe a challenge too like no fairy type or ice type? idk lol

Boss battles not too far from what happened in the Whirl Islands anniversary event are in the works ^^ Max Raids are on the horizon. Lugia'n them were a good test run for some of the balancing issues and such so the mechanics have been worked out just need polishing. But what we could use is recommendations on some prizes, as that's sorta the last major piece before it would go live :3

Vanquishing a big boss, what sort of prizes would y'all find most interesting?

I’ve already stated the character bound Pokémon for some mons in recruit or harder to obtain method

And if max raid includes people will it include pausing rp? Or npc you battle before ( but level scaled)?

Or silver while he calls your pokes weak

Maybe we can put one or two of those undetermined z crystals in?

Harder to obtain tm? Support tm? Technical records if we moved to gem 9 system

Raid battles for hard to get pokemon would be great in itself (like a lv 5 of xyz rare poke), but added prizes for what I assume would be a difficult battle could be pulled from the raid tables in the games? Where different mons drop different stuff.

Stuff like:
TMs
EXP candies
Rare items (like evo stones)
Collectibles (stardust, pearls, etc)


If multiple items seem like too much for one boss defeat, maybe one or two item(s) from a pool. Kinda mystery box style.

You could get two stardust...or a two TMs...or a EXP candy and a TM. Etc.

I would say extra coins and money is also welcomed as prizes haha idk what else
There’s already other places for poke balls so gonna need a break from that.

Well sounds like we're on track with general desires then ;D
Y'all can look forward to the next round of test runs coming up in the next couple months! After the festival it'll be a permanent feature focused around placing some things that are otherwise hard to plop into Johto areas ^^

These are planned to be doable solo or with a partner, and will be event threads so won't stop you from journeying simultaneously. There will also be different challenge levels based on trainer progression... ;)

Last thing is if they’re replayable events and if so, maybe wait six months before attempt again ?

They are repeatable so long as you can afford them. Currently there is no imposed wait timer, though that may be a thing for the higher challenges upon full release.
