Team Notes: Kumaneko HP 30/60 | Ika HP 33/57 [26/50 before level up]. Ghost Encounters: Cypress Rest, Eerie Wood
Kumaneko leaped up off the ground and dodged Duskull. She yelped, immediately diving behind her trainer before poking her head around Mishu’s leg. Her charcoal eyes narrowed angrily on Duskull as she fumed. What was this strange ghost doing?! It attacked her out of nowhere and quite possibly embarrassed her! The small bear cub balled her clawed paws into small fists and waved them angrily in Duskull’s direction. “I’ll teach you a powerful lesson about attacking me and hurting my family!” Kumaneko roared at the top of her lungs. Mishu gently placed a single hand on Kumaneko’s shoulders and softly shook her head.
“I know how important this is for you.” Mishu admitted as she glanced over to the strange apparition whose singular eye burned like a candle between the two socket holes in its skull-shaped head. “But you don’t have the best move sets for it. My guess is that these ghost Pokemon know that, and maybe fear what you can become more, which is why they’ve started chasing all the other Pancham out of the forest.” Mishu admitted softly. She could see the need to take matters into her own hands and destroy these foul entities burning brightly in Kumaneko’s eyes. That wouldn’t be enough to win the battle, however, and sometimes meant that relying on others to help you achieve the tasks you wanted to do wasn’t a bad idea, either.
“Let’s allow Ika to continue helping us through this for now, ok?” Mishu persuaded. Kumaneko glared at Mishu with her arms folded over her chest and backed away. She huffed, shaking her head firmly at first as she considered the notion. Let another Pokemon handle her problems?! Wouldn’t that just make her look weak?! Pancham were fierce opponents who didn’t back down so easily from a threat! She should be their savior! Not some other Pokemon! She wasn’t this weak little cub who needed a mother to protect her from everything! “I can do this!” Pancham insisted firmly.
“You are incredibly strong.” Mishu continued, trying to address the elephant in the room without simply trying to take it out. “I can see how much this bothers you. Needing help from others isn’t weak. And knowing when to ask for help and allow them to assist you is sometimes the strongest thing you can do.” She urged. Mishu would gently pat Kumaneko on her head and pet her slowly down her back to try and console her. “It is very scary to admit you need help. There’s an air of vulnerability that comes with it. But when you can finally admit that, and learn to accept help from others, you truly learn more about your own strengths. We can create many wonderful things and much brighter futures for everyone involved, when we work together.”
Kumaneko sighed as she hung her head low. Mishu’s points were spot on. Even she knew that these ghosts weren’t so easy for her or any other Pancham to tackle alone. Why, then, did it feel like a mountain on her shoulders weighing her down to accept help from other Pokemon? Was is simply because this Duskull targeted her, or was it a compounding issue as she watched Ika spring into action time and time again? Reluctantly, she growled with a soft nod of her head as she turned to Ika. “Do you mind helping me? You have to stop pushing my pain to the side, though, even if you want to try to help ease their suffering. The suffering they’ve caused my species cannot simply be ignored in favor of setting whatever it is you think you’re doing right.” Kumaneko growled firmly.
Ika would float over and glance from Kumaneko to the strange Duskull, who had previously tried to attack her and who she was sure would be ramping up for another attack soon. “Sure thing.” She agreed, floating in between Duskull and her friend. Thick, dark energy began to surround her as she prepared for her attack. “I still feel there is a way to reach these entities and ease their suffering. But that doesn’t mean I want us to completely forget what they’ve done to you and other Pancham, or that they shouldn’t atone for what they’ve done, either.” Ika promised her friend.

The spirit remained bobbing in the air, watching the trainer and her Pokemon quietly with its lone, red eye. In fact, the gaze of the spirit appeared to be directly on the Pancham, but with the trainer and the squid Pokemon in the way, the spirit had no direct access. So, it would bide its time. It would be patient and look for its opportunity. If the trainer was going to protect the sick grass type, than the spirit would just simply go for something else. Seemed fair enough. Ika looked ready for battle and as the black energy spread around her form, it quickly shot out and seemed to encircle the ghost. It did heavy damage and when the shadows and the energy faltered, the ghost looked very beat up. It was floating at an angle and you could see some level of pain registered in the eye and the face of the ghost. However, this was not a time for feeling bad or bleeding hearts as the spirit very much was willing to battle. Righting itself slightly, the eye of the ghost started to turn blue before several small orbs appeared around its head. The blue orbs were then pushed forward and started circling the body of Ika. The young squid tried to follow the small balls of light and in the process confused herself, her eyes swirling. Fortunately, her psychic typing allowed her to be a little more aware of herself and what was happening and she fought through the confusion, once again firing the dark energy at the ghost. This time it was way too much for the ghost to handle. With a pained shriek and a wail, the ghost faded from view, and the area just seemed.....a little more positive with its presence gone. Now, Mishu could continue to look for the tortured spirits that she was warned about.
