As Sara burst through the tall grass, she saw the small Venonat waiting in the clearing. Yamcha was already there, eagerly flying around the bug pokemon. "Aw, nice find!" Sara said to Yamcha, who responded with a sweet trill. Sara looked around the park, it seemed others were engaged in battle with a variety of different bug-type pokemon, but it also looked like some were headed back to the building where the rangers resided to enter their catches into the contest. The venonat's bright eyes shone a brilliant red as it took stock of what was happening around it. Yamcha approached it eagerly, ready to fight. "Alright Yamcha! Hit it hard and fast with your new move!" Sara said, reading off the pokedex, "Aerial Ace!"

"Whoa." Sara said as she watched the venonat and yanma battle. The venonat seemed fierce with its two pointy teeth and gigantic eyes, Sara wasn't sure that Yamcha was going to be able to get in and attack without taking some damage themselves. Yamcha reared up into the sky to prepare for its new move, Aerial Ace. With a "Yaaaaaan!" it swooped down low to the ground, and before the venonat even had a chance to react, it was blown away into the tall grass. Yamcha did a few victory laps, spiraling high into the ground before stalling out and allowing itself to fall back down almost hitting the ground, but catching itself mere inches away. "Whoa! Nice job Yamcha! You're getting stronger just from this excursion!" Sara exclaimed. Yamcha beamed proudly, and turned to start flying into the air- by this point they knew the drill, they search high and Sara searches low.
Sara checked the time on her phone- it was nearing the afternoon at which point the competition would be over. If they were lucky they would be able to get one more pokemon encounter before time was up. Yamcha watched Sara below, making sure no pokemon were going to sneak up on her and attack her while she carelessly wandered through the tall grass. Yamcha could clearly see threatening pokemon, and Sara seemed oblivious to them, so far Yamcha had managed to steer Sara safely through the tall grass, but they only hoped they could keep their silly trainer safe until the end of this contest.

 As Sara nervously stumbled around, she could hear other contestants excitedly gossiping, their voices carried by the breeze. "Ooh, what did you end up catching?" Their excited murmurs filled Sara with a kind of nervousness that she always got during competitions. "Just gotta stay focused, there's still time to catch a big one... The sewaddle isn't bad, but there's always something better!" Sara thought. She glanced upward, she was underneath a tree but she could see Yamcha flying straight towards her. Had he seen something? Suddenly Sara heard a twig from the tree gently crack. In a second, the nervous excitement cut out and a sense of impending dread took its place. Sara couldn't help but stop moving, almost getting the sense that they were stuck in a trap. "Come on feet..." Sara thought. She shuffled one of her feet forward, stumbling slightly and the gentle twig crack happened again. "YAAAN!" Sara heard as Yamcha crashed straight into her, knocking her a few feet backward. The tree above her cracked again, but this time an entire branch had been completely broken, and a huge Pinsir leaped down from the tree, pincer first crushing the ground where Sara had been standing moments before. "Wh-WHOA!" Sara shouted, scuttling backward as the Pinsir awkwardly readjusted to get back to its feet. Sara wasted no time, "Yamcha! Distract it and I'll throw a ball!" Yamcha nodded. No longer was there any question that there were dangerous Pokemon in this park worth catching, the real question was could Sara get it into sport-ball. As Yamcha started flying around the Pinsir to distract it, Sara started pelting the Pinsir with pokeballs. ~~

Sara backed up slowly, her heart racing with a weird mix of excitement and nervousness. She tried to remember what they told her at the start of the competition. "The strength, rarity, and health condition of the pokemon are the most important things when we judge..." The words echoed through her head. The first ball soared through the air hitting Pinser right in the forehead. The ball had barely even hit the ground before it exploded into bits, some shrapnel bouncing off of Sara's clothes. "Eep!" Sara shouted, chucking the second ball. The same thing happened once again, with the ball barely even sucking pinsir inside all the way before it exploded again. The pinsir roared with rage, catching Yamcha by surprise and grabbing them with its strong pinsirs before leaping up in the air with the Yanma still in its grasp before smashing it into the ground. Yamcha winced in pain, but quickly slipped out of the Pinsir's grip. The pinsir glowered at the pair, a trainer and their pokemon. "Are you alright Yamcha?" Sara queried. Yamcha gave a quick nod to Sara before wiggling its little tail, ready to start actually battling. "Wait! Don't hurt it! We need to catch it while it's as strong as possible!" Sara shouted. Yamcha chittered in frustration. "Use double team, I'll keep throwing balls!" Sara said. Yamcha nodded. At least if it were harder to hit, then maybe it could last a bit longer in this fight. With that, it took off like a pistol flying rapidly around Pinsir while ensuring that it was keeping them fully engaged so they wouldn't flip to attack Sara. "Nice work Yamcha!" Sara cheered.

The pinsir charged forward trying to grab Yamcha, but Yamcha had built up tons of speed, and with its double team move, it made it even harder for the Pinsir to keep up with it. "Nice job evading it!" Sara shouted, chucking another ball at the Pinsir. The ball closed around the Pinsir for a second, wiggling once on the ground before bursting open once more. The pinsir let out another enraged roar and began to glow- its accumulated energy causing it to shimmer. "Whoa... Keep dodging Yamcha! It looks furious!" Sara commented. The pinsir shot Sara a glare, but Yamcha didn't let it focus on Sara for long. It chittered aggressively, its illusory copies mocking the pinsir. "Lets do that again!" Sara cheered.

The pinsir reared its head back, power evident in its stance, before letting out a ferocious roar. Yamcha quickly got to work, setting up even more illusory images by moving even more rapidly, but it wouldn't matter. The amount of sport-balls Sara had been chucking seemingly wore down the Pinsir as this ball made even more progress. One shake... two shakes... Click! "YES!" Sara cheered, quickly scooping up the ball, and holding it shut as if it hadn't already settled down. "Now this is what I'm talking about! This one is gonna score way high in the contest! Lets go turn it in before the contest finishes!" Sara said, gleefully.
