Sara stood at the introduction for the bug catching contest nervously. She had participated in one before, but last time she had brought a rather reliable pokemon. To fit the theme this time, she decided to bring Yamcha the yanma, a rather inexperienced pokemon. "Well, this can go two ways I suppose." Sara contemplated, looking at the PokeBall she had brought with her. As the event started and trainers split up off the main path, Sara decided to stick to the center of the park near the fountain. There was still plenty of tall grass around here, but it seemed as though the other trainers were more interested in heading into the more wooded areas of the park. "This seems as good a place as any.. Come on out, Yamcha!" Sara said, tossing the PokeBall out. The capsule burst open revealing the dragonfly pokemon inside, who seemed to be quick to start fluttering around in the air. "Alright, let's do this!" Sara cheered, putting a fist in the air. "Pokemon, come and get me!"

There were rustles abound, either from wind or nearby trainers shooting through the curated tall grasses, but the light patch of park she had situated herself remained quite quiet. It would be a moment before the tiny challenger, often overlooked thanks to its minuscule size, would flit into the air from its flowery perch and buzz as noisily around Sara as it could manage; which was quite softly. p9MUEFuh1-421-42

Sara smiled as she saw the small Cutiefly. "Alright! A challenger!" Sara said eagerly. "Yamcha! Quick!" Sara said, pointing at the Cutiefly. "Wait... what attacks do you know?" Sara said, flustered. She quickly threw her oversized backpack to the ground and started trying to find her Pokedex. "Ah crumbs, where is that thing?!" Sara said. Yamcha watched her with delight as she tried and failed to find what she was looking for, the buzz of the Cutiefly growing louder as it buzzed around her. The Yanma giggled with delight at Sara's lack of preparation. The 15 shining sport-balls gleamed brightly on top of all of Sara's balled up clothes and food wrappers.
"Okay plan B!" Sara said, delighted at finding something useful inside her bag. "Quit buzzing around my head! Can pokeballs even catch something so small?" Sara questioned, before pressing the button on the front of the sport-ball to prime it for capture. "I guess we'll find out!" Sara said, chucking the ball at the flying cutiefly. "No one said we had to battle, just catch the best bug! This one seems pretty nifty!" Sara gleamed.

Sara fumbles with her backpack trying to find a Pokedex so she can figure out what moves Yamcha knows...
She gives up on that and throws a Sport Ball!

The cutiefly buzzed cutely, and cheerfully when Sara found a sports ball, and after a bit of aiming since it was hard to hit something so small and constant erratically moving, the trainer managed and the tiny bug disappeared into the ball. If kept at the end of the BCC it will be added to Sara's PC. "Alright, great job... well... I guess great job me!" Sara said, flashing Yamcha a peace sign. Yamcha quickly fluttered around in disappointment at Sara, who continued rooting around in her backpack. "Well, now at least we know for sure that we've got an entry in this competition!" Sara said, gleefully. "Lets see... Ah! Here it is." Sara said, pulling out her Pokedex. "Ah, you're level 8... you know Gust, Quick Attack, and Tackle! Wonderful! Lets see..." Sara said, pointing the dex at the new pokemon she caught. "Ah... level... 13.." She looked up at Yamcha with a slight grimace on her face imagining the outcome of a fair fight. "You know what, lets not stew on it! We've got bugs to see!" Sara said as she broke eye contact with her yanma as to not reveal how discouraged she was at her chances of actually beating the cutiefly in a fair fight.
"Maybe we should check out... umm... over there! That looks like a nice and safe area! There are kids playing in that field over there... I think?" Sara said, pointing at two figures in the distance. Yamcha could sense Sara was loosing faith in its abilities, and quickly started flying in the direction Sara pointed. "Whoa, you're fast! Hold on Yamcha! Wait for me!" Sara shouted after the yanma as it quickly raced away, Sara running as fast as she could behind him.

As Yamcha and Sara charged forth towards the 'safer' looking area of the park, a small bug waddled out in front of her. "Uhhh... Yamcha! Get back here!" Sara said, calling after the yanma. It had sped ahead to where the two small children were playing, and had gleefully begun playing with the two of them. "HEY! I NEED YOU HERE!" Sara shouted, somewhat flustered. "Just wait here little caterpie thingie! My pokemon will be right here, then we can have a proper battle!" Sara said with a grin. "Ah, that's right! Let me just check..." Sara said, pulling out her pokedex. The eagerness in her voice trailed off as a slight sound of dispair emerged. "Uh-" Her voice warbled as she tried to form coherent thought. "How are you so strong???" Sara asked incredulously to the small Sewaddle. Yamcha was speeding back, and Sara gulped nervously. "Well... this worked on the last one, maybe it'll work again! Take this!" Sara shouted, tossing a sport-ball at the Sewaddle. So far, her bug catching contest had been more catching and less fighting than she had thought it would be, but no matter, this time she was throwing balls in self defense more than because she was ready to catch the pokemon!

As Yamcha flew back towards Sara, the encounter was already over. Yamcha chittered proudly. "You weren't even here!" Sara said dumbfoundedly to Yamcha, but that didn't stop them from beaming with pride. Sara picked up the sport ball from the ground and contemplated it. "Well, this one seems a lot stronger. Let's take it Yamcha." Sara said, gently pressing the button on Cutiefly's ball and releasing it back into the wild. The cutiefly angrily let out a buzz as it fluttered away and out of sight. Sara sighed in relief that there were no hard feelings and looked around the park. "Well, it seems like no matter where we step we find bugs. No wonder they have no qualms about letting you keep a bug no matter what, it must be brutal to be a gardener here with all these hungry bugs eating the flowers!" Sara looked around the park. "Well, I suppose let's keep wandering around and see if we can find some more interesting things, and maybe actually have a battle!" Sara said with a smile. Yanma let out a little giggle and soared high into the sky, looking for their next encounter.

As Sara scoured low, and Yamcha scouted from the skies, a small weedle made its way casually through the tall grass. "AH-HAH! I knew there were bugs here!" Sara shouted, pointing at the small Weedle. "YAMCHA!!!" Sara shouted to her pokemon who was soaring high above. Yamcha heard Sara's shout, and saw what she was shouting about. "It's time to battle!" Sara shouted, cupping her hands around her mouth to extend the range of her shout. The weedle was alarmed at the shouts, but could clearly understand Sara's intent. Yamcha settled down a few feet off the ground in front of Sara, in between her and the Weedle. Sara pointed her pokedex at the two pokemon and the color drained from her face. "Level 20??? This thing must be broken..." Sara thought as she read the data off the pokedex. "Yamcha, lets do this!" Sara said, the yanma nodded in agreement and did a small aerial flip, ready to battle. "Alright, use Gust!" Sara shouted with vigor.

Weedle appeared to quite enjoy getting to surprise the usually speedy flier with its own superior base speed. So it was a no brainer when the second gust came in quicker succession than Weedle could manage its own follow-up that it frustratingly sprayed a sticky webbing all over the area. It looked smugly at Yamcha and his trainer.

As the two pokemon collided in battle, Sara kept a close eye on the Pokedex health gauges. "Hm, it's not dealing as much damage as I thought it would." Sara said, disappointed in the device. "I really do wonder if this is accurate, just a few minutes ago it said Yamcha was only level 8, but now it's saying they're level 11! They haven't even really battled yet!" Sara thought. "Alright Yamcha! Keep the pressure up, you're doing a great job in this battle!" Sara cheered. Yamcha was in total focus mode, as the battle started they leapt into action, and with each successive round it could feel itself speeding up effortlessly. "Yaaaaannnmaaaa!" Yamcha rattled with excitement. The sticky string shot slowed Yamcha down, but mostly it was a minor annoyance, it seemed like Yamcha could cut through the air with its wings. "Another Gust, Yamcha! It seems to be damaging them a ton!" Sara encouraged. Yamcha charged forth as quickly as it could.

As the Weedle retreated into the brush, Sara let out a cheer for Yamcha. "Nice work buddy!" Sara said, smiling. Yamcha flew quick circles around Sara in celebration and chittered happily. Yamcha was looking a little worn, and Sara quickly got to work pulling the sticky webbing from their wings and arms, cleaning them off. As she did, she couldn't help but notice all the wounds that Yamcha had gotten during the scuffle. "Let me look in my pack, I think I have something in here that can help heal you back up." Sara said, rooting through her enormous backpack. "Ah, here you go!" Sara said, pulling a bottle of water out of her backpack. "Nothing like a refreshing drink on a hot and buggy day!" Sara said with a smile.
Yamcha eagerly drank from the bottle as Sara poured it slowly for the yanma to drink. "Feeling better?" Sara said, flicking the residual sticky string-shot off of her hands. Yamcha nodded and began to ascend once more, scouting for another battle. "YaaanMA!" It shouted, eagerly dipping down a bit aways. "Alright! I'm coming!" Sara shouted, charging over to the spot Yanma had called to her from.
