The environment was unusually dark here. There was no telling if it was supposed to be day or night right now. Penelope could feel chill in the air, but she wasn't sure if it was the weather change or the ghost. She then was sure the ghost was partly responsible when it spoke creepily.
"Yes, I am supposed to come defeat you!" Penelope chimed, trying to sound confident, but part of her was scared she'll fail this task. The Gengar's cackle echoed through the forest, sending emotional chills on top of the physical one. Although she became calmed again when the Gengar repeated the same thing the other ghosts were speaking toward her.
"No, thank you! I will be keeping the Chikorita safe in my hands, and I will leave after I exterminate you!" Penelope growled back as she used one hand to grab a whole completely Pokemon to face the Gengar, giving her other Pokemon more time to rest up. "Come on out, Horizon! Use Stun Spore!"
Out from the Pokeball was a Vivillon, with a bright orange on the top half of her wings and blue in the bottom half. It looked like she was the sun light in this darkness, or a fairy fighting the darkness. The tamed little bug flew toward the Gengar, spreading yellow spores under her wings.

"Defeat me? You are naive to think I will go down easily. All of your souls will stay here forever. You shall not escape. EVER!" There was another cackle as the intimidating ghost's eyes took on a haunting red glow. Horizon zipped closer, spores streaming from beautiful orange-and-blue wings, right on target to cover the ghost in paralytic dust. But unfortunately, the gengar was a smidge faster and those eyes were...haunting. Utterly enthralling. Horizon's wings started to become sluggish and the vivillion's flight pattern because erratic as their whole body grew heavy from exhaustion. Then, the little butterfly dropped from the air, right at the evil spirit's feet, landing with an uncomfortable thump, face scrunched up with a sort of restlessness that bespoke of poor dreams and hidden battles. The spirit's hold on the butterfly's mind was strong. Its foe would stay asleep for a while without intervention. "Are you done with your foolishness? Give uppppp." Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Gengar LV 25 HP 100% [72/72]

ooc: full heal then light screen
"We'll defeat you! Even if it'll take some time!" Penelope pointed at the Gengar, protesting already, after watching her Vivillon became sluggish from the Hypnosis. The Vivillon just slowly dropped to the floor for an unexpected good night sleep.
The young trainer quickly dug her backpack for a medicine she knew would be helpful. When she found it, she ran toward her trusty bug Pokemon and readied to treat the slumbering bug. "Hang in there, Horizon! Wake up and use Light Screen!" She sprayed a mist from the medicine on the Vivillon's face. The medicinal smell lingered in the air a bit as it jolted the bug awake.
The bug flew up in the air, and then her eyes glowed as she conjured a barrier that shimmered in the light a little. The sun might go down, but it'll come back the next day.

The Gengar's malevolent grin widened, revealing a mouthful of jagged, sinister teeth that seemed to gleam in the dim light. Its shadowy form pulsed with eerie energy, exuding an aura of menace. The crimson orbs that served as its eyes bore into Penelope and her Vivillon, dancing with a malevolent fire. " Oh, how amusing," the Gengar hounded, its voice dripping with mockery. " You think you can spray a little perfume on your little butterfly and she will wake from this nightmare? How adorable. But you see, my dear, you've already fallen under my spell, and your precious Vivillon's resistance is futile." The Gengar's amorphous body seemed to ripple with dark energy as it drifted closer, the air around it growing cold and oppressive. It reveled in the fear and helplessness that radiated from its opponents, savouring the taste of their anxiety. The Gengar fixed Penelope's Vivillon with a malevolent, piercing look that seemed to penetrate the very core of her being. Its crimson eyes glowed with an unholy intensity, casting an eerie crimson light in the dim surroundings. Those eyes were like twin orbs of wickedness, drawing Horizon deeper into the clutches of its sinister gaze. As the Gengar's sinister presence bore down upon them, Horizon responded with a frantic burst of energy. Her delicate wings, patterned in vibrant shades of orange and blue, began to flutter with a desperate urgency. The ethereal powder that normally trailed behind her graceful flight was now a frenzied whirlwind of colours, creating a mesmerising spectacle in the air as she summoned an otherworldly shimmering barrier to protect her from future attacks. Penelope was confused and huffed. If these ghosts were once human, how do they not know that was a medicine? "That wasn't a perfume! It's a medicine! Look at how Horizon isn't sleeping now!" She folded her arms, confident in her stance. "You're a ghost, right? Can you even smell the 'perfume'?" She asked curiously, completely missing the taunt.
Then, the Gengar did something.... strange. It just stared straight at the bug type with glowing red eyes. Seeing how the Vivillon was flying fine, she figured the insect didn't receive any psychic or spectral damage.
"You're doing great! Now use Psybeam on the meanie ghost!" She unfolded one arm and pointed at the ghost, standing with wide legs like was an exaggerating melodramatic character in an anime. The nonchalant bug hummed as her eyes glowed bright to summon some psychic attack at the opponent.

"Medicine? Ha. Nothing you possess will be able to save you or that lost soul you insist on dragging around. Just give in. You do not stand a chance against me." It sneered as the vivillion once more threw itself at it, brimming with psychic energy. One look and once more the butterfly flopped to the ground, asleep, though this time, its slumber was very fitful and shallow, the impact of hitting the ground causing Horizon to stir almost immediately. Just as Horizon lifted their head, the gengar's eyes glowed red with menace and cackled as the butterfly shuddered with fear. The gengar was just mocking them now. Being a massive bully, uncaring of actually trying to strike down its foe for the sheer pleasure of watching them flounder and struggle against them. The air was thick and burned. There was a noxious odor. Penelope's lungs would burn and it would be hard not to cough. The gengar's toxic gases were permeating the air as it taunted its foe. Fortunately for the little butterfly, Horizon was able to send a glittering beam of energy at the ghost and knock it back before it could come put a curse on them all...or whatever it was trying to do. "Yeah, the lake spirit told me medicine don't work on this Chikorita. The medicine was for my Vivillon. You've been a ghost so long you forgot what I just did a minute ago? Or you're so focused on the Chikorita you forgot other Pokemon?" Penelope replied, scratching her head literally.
As the Gengar's red eyes glowed again, the Vivillon dropped a bit to the ground, but the soft impact was helpful to wake up the falling bug. The sun might fall, but it will rise again. Then, the Gengar did a little something again, and the young picnicker wasn't sure what it was trying to do once again. No really, what was it doing?
"That was a good Psybeam, Horizon! Use it again on the meanie Gengar who hadn't sleep!" She hollered, trying to cheer for her Pokemon again.

"Other pokemon matter not, when your end is now," the Gengar laughed with vile menace. That noxious smell became stronger. Harsher. There was an acidity to the air that emanated in a dense, undeniable cloud around the ghost like a personal toxic fog. Those eyes glowed red again with menace as it opened its maw to spew a harsh, poisonous acid all over the vivillion. It reveled in Horizon's suffering. It moved closer, ready to douse her again in more of that awful poison when Horizon let out a brilliant beam of light that slammed into the ghost and made it screech. Those choking odors would flood Penelope. Dizzy her. Was this...how they died? Suffocated by the noxious fumes of a ghost? But hope flew on sunset wings. A faint beam of light pierced the canopy and as the Gengar wrathfully lunged forward, it was suddenly struck by that light. "NO! NO THIS IS NOT THE END!" it screeched. "I WILL HAVE YOUR SOULS FOREVER!" It raged and thrashed, but the ghost would slowly dispel, and as its form faded, so did to the fog and the discomfort. More light seemed to filter through the leaves and the oppressive feeling that blanketed the forest passed. One could finally just...breathe. However, the chikorita was not so lucky. It still labored with every breath. Even with the ghost that haunted it gone, the little pokemon remained ill and troubled. Dying. Withering. Hopeless... But as worry or grief began to settle in with finality, the shrine began to put off a faint glow. No longer suppressed by evil spirits, a creature of nature and time itself stirred awake. With large eyes and a delicate demeanor, it lifted from the shrine on spritely wings. It was ethereal. A literal myth come alive. But would Penelope see the little pokemon work its miracles? Sometimes humans willfully looked past such things...didn't see the pokemon behind the force of nature. Celebi floated over to the chikorita and pressed a cleansing little kiss to the little pokemon's brow. It pulled the curse free with a blessing of its own. "Rest well, little one. You will be safe now," it murmured. "When you wake, you will be ill no longer." And then, the forest sprite pulled away, floating a circle around Penelope, before vanishing again, quick as a blink or a dream. All that remained of the myth was a little twinkling laughter that settled into Penelope's core, undeniable and real...
