So it was official.

He was an IPF Officer and part of the Bike Patrol unit. Except due to budget cuts, he had to provide his own bike. So he was currently the FOOT patrol until he could navigate to Goldenrod to the one shop in the region that sold them, OR he could win one at one of the raffles he entered. Despite money being less of a problem these days, he was still fairly frugal, and found comfort in filling out little cardboard slips at the convenience stores. He even won a trip to the safari zone that way.

But until his dreams of winning a bike came true, he was stuck on foot as he patrolled his assigned area. Today that was Violet City, and though he kept his head a little low as he passed by Sprout Tower, he found that he didn't mind the job so far. He was already used to walking everywhere, now he was just doing so with a badge in a weirdly official capacity. 

Still weird.

His first day keeping an eye out for the citizens of Johto was spent battling the local wildlife. Nothing too exciting, but it could get dangerous for pokemon and people alike if there was too much conflict between the two groups. Sure, it wasn't glamorous to chase Zigzagoons out of trash cans, but it was work.

As the day passed, his team was starting to grow weary, and Adrian figured he'd stop by the pokemon center to give everyone a good break. But as he started to place pokeballs on the counter, he heard a little girl crying to the nurse about a torn doll. He didn't think much of it until the nurse turned to him and her eyes glittered with recognition.

"You're an IPF officer!" she said and Adrian looked down at himself. At the badge. Then he looked back up and nodded a little dumbly. Uh, yes he was. "Goodness. I was about to report this at the police station, but I can tell you since you're here." Adrian just continued to nod, a little wary, but not wanting to make a bad impression on his first day a the job. He listened in silence as the nurse explained the rash of incidents around town committed by wild pokemon.

Apparently kids were reporting thefts and vandalisms and all around mischief every day. Adrian heard some rumors but...he'd only seen the usual stuff one might expect living near wild pokemon. Not this more targeted behavior.

The longer he listened, the more engaged he found himself, and he even pulled out the little pad of paper he was given to make reports with. Look at him, being official and junk. (Though given the utter chicken scratch he committed to the paper, it was probably pretty obvious that he didn't get points for penmanship in school.) 

Then the nurse bid the Lass to detail the incident. 

Adrian, feeling awkward looming over her like this, motioned to the little seating area nearby so they could sit. And there he would ask her for details. What happened? Where? How? Who? What?

"I was playing at the park with my friends," she sniffed out. "There were these really cute wild pokemon and they seemed nice...but..." She rubbed her face, eyes all red and puffy from crying. "Then they got aggressive and starting grabbing our stuff. That's how my dolly got ripped." She held up the remains of her pikachu plush with a warble. "One of my friend's moms came and helped but it was too late. They ran off but..."

Adrian wasn't sure how to, uh, deal with crying children. He had enough empathy in him to know to not snap at them, and he felt a twinge of pity. This was indeed unusual behavior for wild pokemon.

"You said this just happened?" he said.

"Uh huh. R-right before you came in here, mister officer," the lass replied with a sniff.

"...I'll take care of it," Adrian said, standing up. "Wait here."

"Mister?"

Adrian knew that the longer they waited, the more time the culprits had to get away. Sure, these were pokemon but...if they were targeting people, maybe they were still close. Sure, the details were fuzzy, as all he knew was there were three cute, but overly friendly wild pokemon out there terrorizing people. But he could at least see if they lingered around the park or maybe he could ask people if anyone saw the incident or the culprits.

Thus Adrian hurried out there door...leaving half his party behind with the nurse without noticing. With only three pokeballs on his belt, he was a little less prepared than he thought but...he wouldn't even notice until he was well out there door and at the park itself.

The park was close by and it wouldn't take Adrian long time to get there, although it of course took longer than if he had had a bike. The park was a normal one, open and with well kept paths which lead around a small lake in the middle with a few duckletts swimming around. Most of it was open grass with a few big trees or bushes, with patches of bushes and trees at the edges and randomly around the park to give it a bit more of a forest feeling.

The weather was decent this late in the year and there were several runners about, along with others who were out strolling and enjoying the day. Plenty of people for Adrian to ask if he needed to, and while most of them haven't seen a thing, several could tell similar stories about these three troublemakers.
A runner came running up to Adrian and pulled out his headphones, "you're an officer? Here to investigate the girl's toy which got destroyed?" He asked bluntly between his panting, and continued as soon as that was confirmed, "I don't have a clue on where they are now, are the girl alright? But it happened over at the bench," he informed and pointed towards a bench beside the path close by. The runner wished Adrian good luck and then continued his exercising.

When Adrian reached the bench it was clear something had happened here, bits of cloths and fake hair was strewn over the ground, as well as crumbled from some food, probably cookies or biscuits. There were even a little doll shoe, but it was too sandy and with too many other footsteps for Adrian to use that to learn about the culprits.
The mess turned out to lead in two different directions, a trail of crumbs lead towards some nearby bushes while a trail of the remaining of a doll dress and skirt lead out straight into the open grass lawn, where a lone tree was standing.

Once at the park, Adrian realized he was short on pokemon and not exactly keen on going back and losing more time. He wasn't the best talker but he managed to question a couple of people. If one considered bluntly asking people about wild pokemon playing cruel pranks and stealing stuff in the local park as questioning. Then the jogger ran up and asked about the girl.

Oh. Right. The badge. 

He raked a hand through his hair, "Yes. She's fine. She reported the incident." Sorta. She cried about it to Nurse Joy and then it became a whole impulse thing. "You mentioned seeing what happened? Uh. Thank you for your help...sir?" After getting pointed in the right direction, he left the jogger to his exercise and checked out the bench. Huh. It certainly looked like a toy had been torn up here.

The presence of the food intrigued him.

She mentioned her doll being ripped, but was it possible she or one of her friends had been eating food that attracted their attention? A little more confident that the crumb trail held promise for finding an actual pokemon at the end of it, rather than the abandon scraps of the doll, Adrian followed it. 

Right towards the bushes.

He froze when he heard the shuffle and crinkle and crunch of what sounded like a something eating from a bag of crackers. Gotcha! 

Not exactly thinking about flight risk or anything, he grabbed for a ball off his belt. Huh. Well. Hm. Guardian wasn't very strong right now. Puddles was pretty small and slow and non threatening. Yeah. Puddles would be the right choice!

"Go see if you can flush that wild pokemon out. Quietly," he said, throwing the ball. Then he realized a second too late that it wasn't Puddle's ball he tossed. No, that was Zoro. And ZORO was the opposite of small and subtle. There was now a big black tauros opposite of the bush from Adrian, who decided that why yes, he could QUIETLY flush out the pokemon, NO PROBLEM. 

Adrian flailed his arms. 

NO! NOPE! Don't do that! DO NOT DESTROY PUBLIC PROPERTY ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE JOB BY FLATTENING THE BUSHES! 

Zoro huffed.

"You just...stay on that side."

He sent out Puddles this time, "Okay, see if you can reason with the pokemon in the bush...if you can't...try to get them to move towards Zoro. I don't want him charging into the bush."

Puddles let out a long 'Woooop' before happily skipping into the bush to confront the,,,yungoos!

<Hi! Your snack looks tasty.> Oh, yeah, he was supposed to get him to leave the bushes. <...Can I like...race you to the street and back for a cracker?> There. Tactical GENUIS.

Following the trail of crumbs, the extremely novice officer found himself investigating a bush for a hiding Pokemon. A gleeful Yungoos was casually enjoying its catch of the day, a delicious bag of generic brand name cookies meticulously stolen from unevolved humans. Its peaceful snacking was quickly disturbed when a strange looking Wooper interrupted its silence.

"The Snack is mine! Don't you touch it!" The normal type hissed

Its silly stupid little face looked like it wouldn't even know how to walk properly. A race? It will win and eat more crackers! It agreed quickly after taking a glance at the Wooper. "No need to race when I know I will beat you!" Once it exited the bush, there was a giant black Tauros huffing impatiently. The fighting type hastily ran forward toward the funny looking mammal and kicked it with its legs, knocking it out unconscious before it could make a move! The Yungoos cried out in its last breath, as if calling for help.

Sure enough, a squeaked was heard from the tree followed by a rush of paws clicking on wood surface. A Pachirisu came raising down from a tree, followed by a Ledyba, who was just happy to come along. The Pachirisu mastermind's plan was discovered and this human was on its tail! The two were ready to keep their snack-stealing scheme going! This evolved human was standing in their way!

Well that was easy!

Hm. Adrian checked the bush for more evidence of crimes or hints that this was the problem pokemon. But before he could do so properly, a ledyba and a pachirisu barged down a tree to confront him. Woah. That was a very unusual team up and behavior. He took a step back, frowning with confusion and concern. 

"I have a feeling that you guys ARE the problem pokemon," he mumbled. "You're way too bold. Now, how about we show you what it's like to pick on someone your own size, eh? I'm not a little kid who you can harass and make cry."

He turned to his two pokemon, still out of their pokeballs.

"Okay you two, focus on the pachirisu. Zoro use double kick and Puddles, hit it with a poison tail. If it goes down, move onto the ledyba." He commanded. He wasn't the best at reading pokemon since he wasn't, y'know, one of those people who could talk their language and understand every word. But he was decent at reading context cues, and that squirrel was acting off. The ledyba looked more like it was following than leading the charge.

Zoro was eager for another fight and barged past, head thrashing as he thundered towards the much smaller pokemon. This...this was NOT in any way a subtle kind of pokemon one probably expected of law enforcement. A growlithe or herdier, yes. A Tauros...yeah...no. Adrian kinda realized why right about now. If he had actual time to plan, he might have brought his mightyena or his scyther, both of which were more agile and more subtle than a literal charging bull.

But Zoro was having the time of his LIFE.

Once he charged over on top of the smaller pokemon, he began to flail about and kick, clearly aiming to kick the snot out of the smaller pokemon that challenged them to a fight. As he made a ruckus, Puddles waddled ever closer, looking like a normal wooper until one squinted and took noticed of his odd fronds due to his shiny palette. He waited for an opening before leaping into the fray, tail glowing purple as he attempted to slap the pachirisu and then the ledyba in turn.

<Hey, why are we fighting?> Puddles asked.

<Because they're miscreants or something> Zoro responded gruffly.

<Oooh, that's a big word. You're big and smart.>

<Focus on stomping!>

<Hm...I can't really stomp as much as...slap.>

Zoro's size left an intimidating presence against the Pachirisu and Ledyba, but the mafia leader Pachirisu was also defiant, and was ready to defend its scheming. The Tauros was charging toward the electric squirrel at a pace it couldn't keep up, and eventually, it was whacked by two powerful hooves. This Tauros wasn't a little kid running away with their developing legs. When it got a chance to attack, the squirrel raced forward with sparks charging up its cheeks and then engulfing its body. It slammed onto the Tauro's tough velvet hide. Zoro exhaled deeply as if nothing happened.

"Aye! This one is a tough one! Ledyba, rainbow mode!" The Pachirisu cried, and the henchmant Ledyba begrudgingly mumbled a "Okay!" as its little gloved hands held something in the air, and a shimmer of rainbow appeared. If Adrian's Pokemon were attacking with special attack, there would be golden mode for Light Screen, but that was explanation for another time.

Then, the easy going Wooper ran and jumped in the sky as his tail glowed an ominous bright purple. He swung his tail at the Ledyba with a loud whack, but it wasn't enough to knock it out poison it yet. Thankfully, the Reflect it put up earlier helped absorbed some damage.

Zoro got the energy to turn around and chased down the Pachirisu again, and with a powerful two-step kick, he knocked the rodent to a centimeter of its health. The reluctant rodent fired back with another Spark, after lunging forward and grabbing onto Zoro's leg. The least meaty part was enough for the rodent to send electricity throughout Zoro's mighty body.

"Now it's our chance! Go attack them!" The squirrel squeaked.

"Okaay!" The obedient Ledyba screamed again, and flew toward the enemies as the black spots on its back glowed bright and strange glowing yellow stars followed the two opponents, magically honing on them like some military missile. Puddles winced, but easily hopped up and slapped the Ledyba with another Poison Tail for the stupid starry show on day time.

Reflect? 

These two were certainly not acting like normal wild pokemon. That was very evident right now. They were crafting their attacks in a coordinated fashion that just didn't make sense outside of trainer battles...or in this case, with pokemon who were very, very experienced with how trainer battles worked. 

Adrian groaned when he saw that zappy squirrel's electricity cause Zoro to tense up and twitch a bit. Slowed down and every muscle locked up. He shook his massive head and Adrian decided to see if Guardian might be able to hold his own in his first battle. He wasn't very strong yet, but...

"Zoro, you did well. Rest for a bit, I might need you later," Adrian said, recalling the tauros. "Puddles, use mud shot on the Pachirisu, that shouldn't be effected by the reflect." The eager little squirrel would get a blast of muddy water to the face for its mayhem making.

He then tossed a ball, and from it emerged Guardian, who looked a little confused at what was going on. Adrian almost winced at how painfully inexperienced his team was compared to even WILD pokemon right now. He'd barely battled with any of them before this moment. 

But he hadn't been expecting to be called out into the field like this under prepared. Adrian supposed he would just need to be more cautious in the future to avoid missteps again. 

"Guardian...uh..just...try not to faint? You can do it. Puddles is...hopefully...uh, taking down the main threat..."

Puddles was fortunately up in the culprit's fluffy face, staring the rodent right in the eyes...before spitting that muddy water at it. Take that!

<You guys are like...really good team players.> The wooper praised, seemingly not taking this battle as seriously as Adrian. After all, a battle with wild pokemon was a battle with wild pokemon. He couldn't see the higher stakes. As far as he was concerned, there were no higher stakes. These were just some very overeager to battle pokemon with funny friendship strats. 

Puddles was just over here having a good time with his buddy Zoro. Who was now replaced by his new buddy Guardian. 

<You okay back there, kiddo? Have you like...fainted? Or are you kicking?> Cheerful. Content. A happy little wooper that just was having a good day all things considered. He learned that his new friend Zoro knew big words. He sounded funny using them, but hey, he wasn't here to judge.

To Pachirisu everything was at stake! It had found these great minions, Ledyba who was good at team work and support, and aerial scouting, while yungoos were ready to do the dirty work and wouldn't shy away from anything. Oh how much wouldn't it have done to have the other one with it right now, then they could really have given this annoying trainer something to fight for!
It didn't get what was gone wrong, Yungoos was usually very adept at getting away when approached so why that had gone wrong this time was a mystery.

Pachirisu glared at Adrain, it was all his fault! All these trainers taking you and kicking you out without a second thought, the moment they found one they thought were better, or cuter they abandoned you without warning and left you to fend for yourself! Yungoos too had been left behind, although the circumstances were more unclear and Pachirisu wasn't entirely sure if it had been left behind by a human or other pokemon.
Ledyba was a wild pokemon who just liked to help and had readily agreed to join them when Pachirisu had asked.

Puddles was correctly standing with his face right up at Pachirisu's, and it looked straight back. They were about the same height.
"Don't feel too content, your trainer can dump you any day," Pachirisu hissed and then danced agile around the pale wooper only to race at the tauros.. which wasn't there. Pachirisu slowed down briefly, confused where its target had gone to but then realized what had happened and sped up again, only to slam into Guardian and send him tumbling over the ground.
"The moment you are not cute enough, or too weak, he'll find someone else and leave you! That's what they all do!" The white electric squirrel screeched.
"What are you waiting for?! Back me up here!" It snapped desperately at the Ledyba. "Okay!" the bug answered cheerfully and sent an array of stars out which hammered into the ralts a moment later.

Puddles sent the mud flying, way way too late but at least he managed to take out the biggest threat: the ringleader.
"Nooo, noo, this can't be happening, why do they always chase me? Always so mean, laughing, shouting, throwing stuff and when we defend ourself they sent someone meaner. Why..?" It whimpered to itself as it pawed at the grass feebly, too worn out to really do anything.
The ledyba buzzed over and hovered unsure above it.

That reflect was a real hassle. 

It meant the Ledyba would be on the tricky side to take down. But maybe Puddles could get a good hit in. Wincing at the sight of Guardian getting hammered by those two attacks, clearly unprepared for them, Adrian knelt to administer a Potion, hoping to soothe those hurts. "Sorry about that bud, you really weren't ready for the big leagues yet, huh? Just hang in there, okay? It'll be over soon." 

Guardian nodded at Adrian, whimpering a bit as the stinging potion was spritzed onto his cuts and bruises. It wouldn't be too long before he was as good as new! And still out classed. But at least now he wasn't at risk of fainting from a stiff breeze!

"One day you'll be big and strong, so hang in there," he murmured, reassuring the little pokemon as best he could. Guardian nodded, holding his chin high, trying to stay as brave as he could. He could do this. "Puddles, use Poison Tail. Try your best to break through that Reflect."

The wooper let out a small cry as he hopped over the defeated pachurisu and took another swing at the ledyba. Maybe if they were lucky it would poison the bug and they'd be able to end this fight sooner rather than later. 

Guardian shifted to face the pair of troublesome wild pokemon, healed up and cautious. He couldn't do much but cheer Puddles on right now however. But he could do that really good! Go, Puddles, Go!

Puddles was uneffected by the ringleader's words entirely. Cute? He never really considered himself cute. Other wooper always thought he was odd looking back home because of his coloration. He looked all funny. Like those non-native woopers that evolved into quagsires rather than clodsires. Humans thought he was fascinating however. 

Adrian was little different in that regard.

He seemed intrigued by his wrong colors and curious what he'd evolve into one day. So maybe he wasn't safe from being left alone or forgotten, but he kinda felt he had more going for him than just petty cuteness. Like a good hard poison tail to the face! Hyah! 

<You should like...give up or something.> Puddles told the Ledyba. <You're not going to win. It's three against one, and even if you take me and my new friend here down, you got the big guy to deal with. So like...surrender or whatever? That cool?>

Ledyba turned back to watch after hovering by the Pachirisu, who was now passed out to do anything. Then, when it turned its body back, the psychic type's wounds were healed already. Perhaps it had missed what the human did to the tiny key lime Pokemon, that was just strange!

"Uhh... But I like the snacks! Pachirisu and Yungoose are great friends too! I never had friends until I meet them! I don't want to give up!" the Ledyba buzzed, naively assumed that also meant losing its new found friends. "I love the one with with cheese and makes my mouth orange too!" It cried at the thought of losing its friends and favorite snack. "I won't give up my friends!" The little bug shed tears from its eyes, and flew straight and hit Guardian, as the Wooper casually leaped out of the way.

Then, when the Wooper slapped its face with a Poison Tail, it wasn't helping the situation any better, as the pain now added to the tears it was already having. "Please don't make me say good bye to my friends!"

Puddles cocked his head.

<Why would losing mean losing your friends. We're only battling because we were attacked first, y'know? You could like...surrender. But like, yungoos is totally still just...over there. Sleeping. Not like we've kidnapped him or anything. We're just here because you guys were like...really upsetting the locals? You guys were being so mean to the kids that they called my trainer in to help get you three to stop. So uh...if you wanna stay with your friends. Stop harassing humans?>

Guardian...only vaguely understood the ledyba's concerns. He was still very young and very disoriented about suddenly being bombarded by pokemon trying to battle him. He wasn't sure he was cut out for this!

But he gathered up all his courage and let out a sharp noise that was both painful and disarming. He didn't even know he could make such a sound with his voice! Puddles glanced over approvingly.

<Heyyyy. You got a moxie, kiddo. You took some heavy hits but you're hanging in there. Good to see you're not like...a totally pushover, y'know? Our trainer must have some faith in you if he gave ya such a cool name.>

<Cool...?>

<Yeah! I mean, the big bull is Zoro and you're Guardian. Me? I'm Puddles. Though to be fair. I like the name. I'm the Puddles sort of wooper. Not a lot of ground types like water, but I do. I'm originally from Paldea, y'see, and there's swamps and stuff there. Hard for ya if you're not part poison to live in bad water. But me? I did just fine. Even if I was a little funny colored. But here? Woopers are blue. Like me! So hey, I like it here too. Though, not sure what the woopers will think when I evolve.>

<Do you...evolve weird?>

<I mean, I hear woopers here evolve into quagsire. But me? I'll be a clodsire one day. Different.> He eyed the ralts. <You're a ralts. I've seen your kind before too. You can be different pokemon one day too. A guardevoir or gallade. Both are native where I'm from.>

<Woah...really?>

<Oh yeah...> Pause. <I guess the battle isn't over, is it? Should probably help out.> And with that, Puddles went over to the ledyba. And if it was still kicking up a fight, he would once more end that fight with another poison tail to the face. BAP! BAP! BAP!

The Ledyba wasn't thinking clearly on its head at first, and cried as it flew toward the two small Pokemon. Once again, Puddles simply hopped away as the beetle slammed into the Ralts. It continued flying around and wailing uncontrollably, until it was slapped in the face by the Wooper's glowing purple tail. WHACK!

The bug type fell on the ground now, unconscious, muttering a quick and quiet apology before passing out from exhausting its energy. "I am sorry, Puddles!..." Whether this was on behalf of the whole group of three or just itself, it was unknown. Nevertheless, an apology was better than none!

With the Pachirisu and Ledyba defeated, if the human wanted to capture the ringleader electric squirrel, he could. The Ledyba could still be friends with the Yungoose, and it's a good idea to separate the ringleader from the gang. This was the end of the case, and Adrian could probably bring the torn toy, or the toy shoes and some scrap of the doll's clothing, back to someone to finalize his report. Peace and conclusion had returned!

With the miscreants defeated, Adrian knew that he couldn't just leave things as they were. He had to do something about that ringleader. Maybe he could just...catch it? Try to rehabilitate it? He couldn't leave it here with a grudge to menace other random park goers. 

"What do you think, Puddles?" he asked as he knelt to pat Guardian on the head, reassuring the little ralts that he did good. The shiny wooper cocked his head back at Adrian with a 'woop?' and he nodded, "Yeah, while I don't exactly want to catch this little menace, I can't leave it here either. Maybe I'll take it back to the ranch and see if it will...well...calm down there..." Or maybe it would rally the oddish to be even more of a hellish nuisance. 

SIGH.

"You two should rest up. You both did great." And to their pokeballs he returned his pokemon. Then he came to stand over the two fainted pokemon and rubbed the back of his head. Delaying the inevitable. "Well, you're gonna be stuck with me now." And he pulled out a pokeball and tossed it. The fainted rodent didn't so much as wiggle more than a few times before it was captured.

That task done, it was time to go back to the scene of the crime and see what he could find to bring back to the little girl. He picked up buttons and little shoes...then followed the trail to the tree that the ledyba and pachirisu charged down from. He somewhat awkwardly climbed up into the branches to see if he could find anything else. Possibly in the nest.

Eventually he did.

A hole in the trunk full of treasures. More scraps of cloth. Some bags of chips. Nothing too exciting. He would snap a picture with his phone. As he came down with what he could retrieve as evidence, the jogger that spoke to him before gave him a thumbs up. He'd seen what had happened while on his route. Adrian awkwardly gave him a thumbs up back. 

Then it was back to the pokemon center with him.

Once there, he would walk in, a little ruffled and with a leaf in his hair, but holding the remnants of the doll.

"Uh, I think I took care of that problem," he told the girl as he approached where she still sat at the sofa. "Here's your, er...well, the rest of your doll. Maybe your mom can fix it..." He laid the scraps and boots and buttons on the table. Then he explained what he found including how he was attacked by a pachirisu that was clearly some kind of 'ringleader' for this trio of pokemon, given its odd and aggressive behavior. 

"The other two pokemon it was with didn't seem nearly as hostile as it was. I, uh...caught it. I hope that now the other wild pokemon in the area will stop...well...attacking people." There. Good deed done.

The little girl's eyes widened as Adrian returned with the remnants of her cherished doll. She clutched the torn fabric and broken buttons, and tears welled up in her eyes. With a quivering voice, she spoke, "Thank you, mister... I thought I'd never see any of it again."

She tried to hold back her tears, but a few drops escaped, rolling down her rosy cheeks. With a small sob, she managed a smile and added, "My mum's really good at sewing. Maybe she can fix it up for me."

Nurse Joy, who had been keeping a watchful eye on the situation, couldn't help but smile warmly at Adrian. She approached the child, kneeling down beside her and patting her on the back gently. "You see, dear, there are kind people like this officer who help make the world a better place."

Turning her attention to Adrian, Nurse Joy spoke with a sense of gratitude in her voice. "Thank you, Officer. You've not only helped this little girl but also ensured the safety of others who might visit the park. We appreciate your quick response and bravery in handling the situation."

The child's eyes lit up as she looked at Adrian. She asked, "Mister, did you catch the bad Pokemon that did this?"

Nurse Joy chimed in, "I've a feeling the culprit has been apprehended alright. And now, as a token of our appreciation and to help you on your future journeys, here's a reward." She handed Adrian a small pouch of money and a fluffy toy Skitty's tail on a keychain. "It's a Fluffy Tail. You can use it in your Pokemon battles or perhaps trade it for something valuable. Thank you for your service, Officer."

When Adrian had filed the paperwork, the mission report was well received by his superiors.

Adrian earns 10 Merits for completing the mission.
+5 for expedient action and representing the Bike Patrol unit well despite the budget cuts.

Nurse Joy hands Adrian £800 and a fluffy tail as thanks.

"I did apprehend the culprit." Adrian said, agreeing with the Nurse with a nod. "It won't be stealing from anyone again, okay? The bad guy is going to get rehabilitated so they don't do this to anyone else, and understand what they did was wrong." This was totally how one spoke to children, yes? He glanced up and over at Nurse Joy, who was smiling warmly. "So you doll should be safe once your mom patches it up. No more adorable but scary pokemon should take it."

A pause as he added, "But for the future...try to give wild pokemon a wide berth. At least until you have one of your own to help protect you, or if someone is with you that has a pokemon. As you learned today, even the cute ones can be pretty aggressive when wild."

At that, he felt like his job here was done, and started to take a few final notes. That was when the Nurse approached and handed him a fluffy tail and a little cash tip in thanks. He flushed a bit at her praise and looked away until he got his bearings back.

"Thanks, Nurse Joy," he murmured. "I'm happy to help. It's my job to help people." A small, hesitant smile appeared on his face. He still looked painfully awkward and shy, but it was clear he was trying to be personable, even if it was hard. "And help pokemon...I think all three of that trio will ultimately be happier now." It wasn't good for their health to go around mugging random people, and it certainly wasn't good for anyone else when they were doing it!

With that, he went to the counter and placed his remaining three pokeballs there. Time to let them rest as well. He'd spend a little while resting and watching over the girl from a distance until her mom came to pick her up, and once she was escorted home, Adrian got his team from the Nurse and headed out. 

He was a little surprised by the high praise he received when he checked back at the station at the end of his patrol. Flustered, he didn't say much as they patted his back and told him that he was pretty okay for a rookie. After he escaped all the fuss and good cheer, one of the other officers managed to walk up behind him and catch him by the shoulder.

"Hey rookie, consider this a welcome to the force present," the man said with a laugh, clapping Adrian on the back before pressing a smooth, orange stone into his hand. The man walked off and Adrian peered down. Oh. A fire stone...

Well...he did have a growlithe...

Maybe he did have a solution to his lack of bike...

Arcanine were big enough to ride...weren't they?
