Name: Clementine Nightingale. Clem for short.
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Trainer Type: Paradoxical Martial Artist
Hometown: Stow-on-Side, Galar
Appearance: Clementine stands at a little over 5 feet and 2 inches in height, a little on the short side, even shorter than her younger sister. She possesses a lean body type, but does also have some muscle mass, primarily in her legs. Although she's done her best to put on some muscle, she still only weighs about 118 pounds, with tan skin. She has short, white, almost silvery hair that stops just above the bottom of her neck, styled in a kind of bob cut, with bangs that cover the right side of her forehead, and a pair of strands that stick out of the very top of her head, similar to the strands atop a Crabominable's head, but a bit shorter. Her left eye is lavender in color, while the other is a bright shade of red and has a sharper-shaped pupil and iris to it as a result of an accident she was in, with some small but still noticeable eyelashes on the top and bottom of both eyes. And nobody can tell because they're usually covered by her clothing, but she has a series of menacing, rather ugly-looking scars covering her back as a result of an accident.
And for her clothing, Clementine's usual outfit is a white, sleeveless crop top that stops just above her stomach. She wears a midnight blue jacket over her top, with sleeves that are almost too long for her arms, and six gold-colored buttons, three on each side. She prefers to keep the jacket open at all times though, hardly ever buttoning it up. For the lower half of her attire, Clem wears a pair of denim short shorts, with white cobweb patterns sown around the pockets. Much like her stomach, her legs are completely bare, save for her feet, which are covered by a pair of red sneakers, with silver trim, and a pair of black socks that go up to the bottoms of her shins. For accessories, she dons a pair of hair pins, which resemble the Fighting type symbol and the Ghost type symbol from her home region, with the Fighting type pin on the right side of her head, and the Ghost type pin on the left side. And to top it all off, the bag she has to carry her belongings is covered in black and gold stripes, with a set of six wings coming out the sides, made to look like Giratina's wings when in its Origin Form.
Personality: Despite her mildly creepy and rough appearance, and obvious love of ghostly accessories, Clementine is actually a very kind, friendly, and outgoing young woman. It's very rare to see her in a bad mood, or even without a smile on her face for that matter. She's usually quite easygoing and is always open to helping those in need, as well as making new friends. Be they human, Pokemon, or some other third thing. In fact, she sometimes even sings or dances for no particular reason, wherever she happens to be when the mood strikes her. And although she can appear to be a little ditzy at times, she's actually very intelligent, and isn't easily offended by anything. Honestly, she'd be more offended by someone insulting her loved ones rather than herself.
However, like the saying goes, even a rose has its thorns. And sometimes, Clem is more like a cactus, in that regard. Despite her intelligence, she doesn't possess a lot of tact, and will sometimes say or do things that make other living beings uncomfortable or even scared of her. That's especially true when she uses her special ability to see people's aura, sneaking peaks are their personal experiences, feelings, fears, etc. Put simply, it's next to impossible for anyone to keep secrets from this girl. And when she does manage to make anyone feel scared, angry, or sad, she's often confused, not sure what she did wrong. That being said, she never means to upset anyone, and will always apologize for it, even if she doesn't fully understand what she did to upset them in the first place. Be that as it may, she loves her family, friends, and Pokemon more than anything, and will always be there for them in her own strange ways.
History: As the first-born child of her generation, Clementine was groomed from an early age to become the next gym leader of the Stow-on-Side Fighting type gym. However, while she was pregnant with her, Clem's mother accidentally stumbled into a Cursola's branches, absorbing a large amount of ectoplasm into her body while she was paralyzed by it as a result. Or more specifically, into Clementine's still developing, unborn body. Because of this, despite coming from a long line of athletes, Clem always displayed more of an affinity for all things ghostly. This became especially evident after her younger sister, Bea, was born and started undergoing the same exact training herself, quickly surpassing Clementine in any and all physical activities. Still, despite this turn of events, Clem was never once jealous of her little sister. In fact, Clem was amazed by Bea's determination, grit, and physical strength, and would still do her best to keep up with her during their training, even though she lacked Bea's levels of strength, stamina, and overall athleticism for whatever reason. Still, Bea never belittled Clem for any of this, as the two of them had been the best of friends from the moment she was born, happily doing everything she could to help Clem along and build up some muscle mass.
Unfortunately, every family has a black sheep, so to speak, and it seemed as though Clementine was just that in her family, often reaching her physical limits long before Bea and the other trainers that helped their family run the gym. Nevertheless, Clementine kept her chin up through all of it, and kept on going back for more training with her younger sister every chance she could get. That being said, given her love of spooky things, she still always made time for her good friend, Allister, as well. Clem would often sneak over to Allister's side of the Stow-on-Side gym to observe his own training, and sometimes even take part in his ghostly rituals as well, seeming to have more of an affinity for it than her own family's physical training. Clem, Bea, and Allister truly were inseparable, spending the majority of their childhoods together and making many fond memories with each other. So much so that Allister felt like a brother to the Fighting type sisters too. Sure, they had their fair share of disagreements, but they always made up with each other and never stayed upset with each other for very long at all. But then, one day, exactly one year before Clem's arrival in Johto, the unthinkable happened.
While on a jog up one of the mountains in the Wild Area with Bea, Clem accidently slipped and fell off a very high cliff in her fatigued state, her determination not to be left behind by Bea getting the better of her. As a result, Clem ended up falling right down onto some jagged boulders below, and tragically lost her life. Bea, Allister, the rest of the citizens of Stow-on-Side, and even a good portion of the Galar population were distraught over this shocking turn of events, as doctors did everything they could to revive the deceased girl. They even tried replacing her damaged eye and some of her shattered bones with the bones of Fighting type Pokemon, such as Hawlucha and Passimian, while her new eye came from a Lucario. Sadly, it was no use. Clementine's body was damaged beyond repair, and she was legally dead for a full 24 hours. But then, the very next day, Clem miraculously revived, with all of her wounds closed up and all of her damaged bones and internal organs repaired. No one had any idea how it happened, but they were all overjoyed to have Clem back in their lives.
No one, that is, except for Clem herself, and the being that saved her life. Clementine didn't know it until she fell off the cliff and met her end but given her Fighting type heritage and her Ghost type background, she had become the prime host for a certain Pokemon. Unbeknownst to everyone, even Clem, the Gloomdweller Pokemon, Marshadow, had been living inside Clem's shadow for years. And when she died, Clem's spirit was pulled into a kind of limbo dimension, where she met with Marshadow and the two got to talking. In the end, they made a deal. Marshadow would bring Clem back to life, but only if she agreed to become stronger, travel to all sorts of new and exotic places, and gain tons of new life experiences that it could learn from itself. Not really having much choice, Clem agreed, and she came back from the dead.
As a result of this, as well as the Lucario eyeball and Pokemon bones inside her body, she gained some of those Pokemon's powers, including Lucario's ability to see the aura of other living things, as well as being able to understand Pokemon speech. True, some of her injuries remained, like the scars on her back, but that made no difference to her. She was just happy to be alive. Still, she had to hold up her end of the deal with Marshadow, keeping its presence a secret. Even from her beloved sister and best friend. Everyone was once again surprised when Clem made the decision to pack up and leave for the Johto region, but they all supported her and wished her the best of luck on her journey. Clem passed the role of gym leader down to her dear sister, and Bea gave her a full team of Fighting type Pokemon to aid her on her adventure.
And so, after bidding a fond farewell to her friends and family, Clementine was off, with a spring in her step, a smile on her face, a bag full of supplies, a full team of Pokemon, and a promise to keep to a brand-new friend she had made. And until that day arrived, Marshadow would also hold up its end of the deal, taking refuge inside Bea's shadow so that it could keep Clem's loved ones safe in her absence. Marshadow had wanted to accompany Clem on her journey to cut out the middleman, as it were, but Clem insisted that her loved ones needed the Fighting/Ghost type more, and that the memories in her head and shadow would be more than enough to satisfy the legendary Pokemon. In the end, Marshadow agreed, knowing that it could at least learn a great deal from the Fighting type gym leader about martial arts and such. Besides, the Gloomdweller Pokemon was certain that Clem would definitely return to Bea once her journey was complete, silently and secretly bidding it's time for that day to arrive.
Goals: First and foremost, Clem wants to fulfill the promise she made to Marshadow. To travel the world, have plenty of new experiences, and become the perfect fusion of Fighting and Ghost. A Fighting type trainer with a ghostly aura. Still, it's not just for Marshadow's sake. Overcoming death had given Clem a new lease on life, and she wanted to make the most of it. She knew she'd never be as strong as Bea physically, even with the bones of Fighting type Pokemon now inside her body, but she still wanted to do her best to master her new powers and become the strongest Fighting type trainer the world had ever seen. And one day, she'd return to Stow-on-Side as someone she and her friends and family could be proud of.
Other Info: As one might expect, Clementine has a fondness for horror movies, and has become quite desensitized by them. Nothing ever really scares her anymore, apart from the thought of anything bad happening to her loved ones, of course. Her favorite food is shish kabobs, she loves sculpting little Pokemon figurines out of clay in her free time, and she keeps copies of Bea's and Allister's rare League Cards in her wallet. Mainly as good luck charms, but also so she doesn't forget the faces of her precious friends while on her journey, not knowing for sure how long she'll be away from home for. Also, ever since her near-death experience, she's had her own unique and rather creepy laugh, which sounds like "Kishishishishishi".
Pokemon Wish List: Tyrogue, Crabrawler, Jangmo-o
