Let’s Build a Snow ‘Mon! Professor Elm’s lab looked very pretty in winter—picturesque, even. It stood out against the backdrop of New Bark Town like the stuff of holiday postcards, with its sturdy wooden fence neatly lining the perimiter and its twin chimneys billowing out warm, fluffy puffs of smoke from a cozy fireplace inside the house on the second floor. Nearby trees, their branches laden with fresh snow, danced lazily in the slight breeze. But still, Daisy thought— still…It was missing something. ”Come on, Tulip! Roll that snowball faster!” she commanded her Bulbasaur. “Snow Pokémon don’t build themselves, ya know!”Tulip sighed as she continued rolling the snowball up a small slope, watching Daisy collect sticks out of the corner or her eye. Weren’t they supposed to be doing real research today…? Then again, despite the chill in the air, this was all still slightly less uncomfortable than venturing out into the tall grass. And there were very few wild Pokémon to be seen in this part of town. Maybe this detour was a blessing in disguise. Tulip made sure her scarf was securely fashioned and kept rolling. Arriving with the first snowball in tow, she nudged her trainer with a soft uttering of “Bulba.””Yes! Excellent work as always, Professor Tulip! Now, where to put these sticks…aha!” Daisy said, jabbing two sticks into the side of the snowball for arms—and one jagged one went in the back to make a tail. ”But wait, what kinda face would a snow Pikachu have…? And what else should we use to make it?” she wondered aloud, framing the chubby, singular snowball with her hands as best she could with mittens in the way. ”Hey, you!” she said to a passerby, waving them down. ”You know what a snow Pikachu’s s’posed ta look like?! Help us out, huh?”
OOC: Anyone is welcome in here! Just a social thread to get Daisy to meet some other player characters. Let’s frolic in the snow! We can make as many snow Pokémon as we want, throw snowballs, catch fresh flakes on our tongues… Just don’t go licking any frozen poles or eating the yellow stuff. 😆

In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
TAG StephNOTES - don't mind him he's trying his best Raiden found that he really really hated winter. There was only so much that he could do to keep himself warm. It wasn't necessarily the cold that got to Raiden, the nights on the sands could be the type of chilly that many didn't expect. It was the snow that he would love to burn to the ground if he had the choice. That was precisely the thought as Charmander seemed to be having fun playing in the monstrosity and burning flakes that fell making droplets of water into the already-packed snow on the ground. Truly it seemed the Pokemon was genuinely enjoying itself and that made his grumpy mood a little better.
New Bark Town was something he was growing used to seeing lately, for someone who didn't want to stay in the same place for very long he hadn't moved far from the town. It wasn't that he had a reason, it was mostly his determination to be overprepared. It meant all these Pokemon would gather levels and be ready for the next location they needed to go. So here he was when he could very well be in the next city. It seemed he wasn't the only one out in the gentle drop of snow. A young girl seemed to be quite joyfully playing with it including her pokemon in the festivities. Raiden wasn't an awful person, he just came off a little frustrated and pushed people away.
But even the man from Orre did not expect what would happen next, being directly pointed at and being asked how to make a ... snow pikachu? It took a moment of silence and his golden eyes to look at the situation to make a guess as to what she was talking about. This had never been a tradition she had shared even when he was little. It hardly ever snowed in Orre and when it did it was not shared with joy. "I suppose it would look like a normal one?" he finally answers though there is a slight question behind it as if giving himself away that this wasn't his best subject.

Daisy’s internal laser sensors fired full blast as she stared directly up at Raiden for a moment, her tiny mind blown. Her jaw dropped just slightly. A puff of visible breath condensed into a misty cloud around her and dissipated a moment later. Behind those golden eyes must have been centuries of sagacity, Daisy decided, because duh, of course a snow Pikachu would look like a normal Pikachu. Just…less fuzzy and yellow and more white and chunky. She pondered this for a moment until the gears in her head started turning again. She had an idea. Sort of. Taking a stick from her bundle into her right palm and clutching it in her mitten, she started scribbling and scratching away at the snow. Meanwhile, Tulip the Bulbasaur inched closer to Charmander—just close enough to feel some of the warmth radiating from its tail; a welcome relief in the middle of the chilly afternoon. ”Of course! It’s gotta look like a normal Pikachu—otherwise people won’t know what it is,” Daisy agreed, still hacking away at the ground. ”We just gotta sketch it out first to figure out what a normal Pikachu looks like. Just like…just like…”She backed away from her etching, squinting her left eye and tilting her head sideways. It was…somewhat Pikachu-shaped. Probably. Maybe.
Daisy looked at it again. She liked the fangs. She really did. And she was particularly proud of how the eyebrows turned out. There was just one teeny, tiny problem. The eleven-year-old turned to Raiden with stone-cold honesty in her chocolate brown eyes. ”I’m gonna be real with you, man,” she said to him point-blank. ”I forget what a Pikachu looks like.”There was sort of an awkward pause, punctuated by a puff of wind, followed by an idea. Daisy shoved one of her sticks at Raiden. ”Here, you try sketching it out,” she said. OOC Stuff: behold my masterpiece LOL. Drawing is not compulsory. Freya was enjoying the winter weather. An experienced trainer who had adventured in deserts and mountains alike, she found that very few seasonal changes bothered her. A gentle snowfall? It reminded her of when she met a certain grumpus who was trailing after her she walked.
"Are you still upset that Professor Elm patted your head?" she asked, arms behind her back, smiling down at the little dragon.
Frigibax huffed, <He is lucky I left him with all his fingers intact.>
"Fingers are must less tasty than sandwiches or mochi."
<Debatable.>
The little dragon flashed her teeth, trying to look intimidating all the while being pocket sized. So cute! Freya hid a giggle behind a sleeve before continuing her trek forward, only pausing when she came across a curious scene. Was that a child showing drawings to another trainer that was wandering this route? Oh that was also adorable. Freya grinned as she scampered closer, "Hola! How are you both on this fine day!"
Topaz eyes gleamed as she poked her nose into their business, "Ooooh, what a cool picture. Is that like...erm...a very angry munchlax? It's very scary." She had absolutely no idea that it was supposed to be a pikachu.
— OOC: Freya enters the scene.

In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
TAG Steph PixelNOTES - now there is another to make fun of him joy Raiden was sure any moment now a small child would make fun of him for not knowing what she was talking about. Though he was used to the stare he received from her, it wasn't that strange considering people really didn't approach him often. Raiden gave off that kind of aura that made it hard to, but he really wasn't that scary when you got to know him. Case and point he was trying to help this young girl without really knowing how to do so. It was hard to help with a snow Pikachu when he had never even built a snow anything before in his life. What seemed to happen instead was her grabbing a stick and beginning to draw in the snow, Raiden raised a slight brow but didn't move anywhere.
Small breaths came out in a mist from the weather being so cold but as she began to explain he listened. His hands buried themselves in his pockets to keep out the cold as much as possible. "Right." he commented when she explained that it had to look like a pikachu or no one would understand what it was. So he waited for the sketch to complete and there was a long pause when it was, why did it look like a munchlax and a pikachu had formed and suddenly had fangs? Weren't fangs added for things like Halloween? He was pretty sure it was well past the holiday but what did he know really? Was that a thing you added for the holidays?
He was the worst backup anyone could call when it came to this. He had blurred memories of when he was little and his mother had shared a holiday with him. But that had been so long ago Raiden didn't even want to try to dig up what they had celebrated. It just brought back painful memories anyway. Yet before he could say anything about the sketch himself it seemed that the young girl gave herself up rather quickly. A small amusement shimmered in his eyes at her telling him that she doesn't remember what a pikachu looked like. Then the stick is sent in his direction for him to draw it. Oh Arceus, what has he gotten himself into?
Yet it seemed someone else had entered the scene and his eyes glanced to someone else, a woman older though probably younger than him if he had to guess. "Well, " he starts after she confirms what he had thought only moments prior. "It's supposed to be a snow pikachu. The young lady here wants to make one and asked for help." see look he's helping, sort of. "Perhaps you can sketch out something better?" yea, slide the attention off of himself, this would work great. He was suddenly thankful that she had shown up so he didn't have to do it. He wasn't really that artistic, he could make maps because of living in the desert, but that wasn't quite the same thing.

“Yeah, a snow Pikachu!” Daisy reiterated after Raiden, voice cracking a bit as she channeled the energy of a noisy Chatot, repeating things for fun. Of course, she knew had to elaborate a little, too—not everyone could understand her creative vision immediately, after all.
“Or…that’s the plan, anyway. The way I see it—everybody and their mom loves Pikachu, right? So it would be a great way to make people to notice the Lab and get Professor Elm more helpers and stuff! I’m Professor Daisy, by the way, and this is Professor Tulip,” she said, motioning to her bespectacled Bulbasaur, who gave a tiny, shy wave of her vines.
”And this guy is…” she motioned to the “guy,” whose name she didn’t actually know yet. Not that she’d let a little detail like that trip her up or anything. ”…my trusty assistant! Go on, assistant, tell the lady your name!”
Daisy felt like she could be a litter bolder, now that she had a certified Big Kid on her side. There was a sort of awkward friendliness she could relate to behind this tall guy’s eyes—she’d seen it for just a second when they’d been discussing her drawing. Besides, despite him being a little hard to read, his Charmander liked him, which meant he was probably a Good Guy—perhaps a mysterious pirate hunter from a far-off island, carrying his childhood friend’s sword as a keepsake—or the last living member of a ninja clan, sworn to avenge his fallen family. The kind of broody character you still typically wanted on your team of heroes to balance the other Good Guys out.
Daisy nodded along with his idea—make the new kid draw up the plan for the snow Pikachu. It was a pretty good plan. Although something about the “new kid” seemed not so new—like maybe she wasn’t “new” at all. Maybe she was some expert Pokémon trainer visiting the Professor on business—a Top Coordonator, or even a Gym Leader! Case in point, the older girl’s Pokémon wasn’t what people typically considered a “starter.” Daisy’s heart raced at the possibility of building a snowman with somebody famous and good at Pokémon training.
She squatted down in the fluffy snow to get a closer look at Freya’s Frigibax—perhaps a rare Pokémon from a far-off region, like the ones they had at the Paldea Festival. Its face had an impressive presence, although it was also very…well, frowny-looking, if Daisy had to choose a way to describe it.
”Hey, what’s wrong with your Pokémon?” she blurted out. “He looks kinda mad.”

"Nice to meet you both! I'm Freya," she said in introduction, waving at the little bulbasaur. "She's just a grumpy-tail." Freya laughed when the attention fell on her companion. "Careful not to get too close, she unfortunately tends to bite strangers. I had to bribe her with so many snacks for her to like me even a little. But we're working on it." She displayed her dragon's tolerance for her by patting her head. "She's a frigibax, by the way. A dragon native to the mountains of the Paldea region. I met her when on my very first pokemon journey ever and we've been together ever since, working on our friendship." She straightened up, "So, we're making a snow pikachu, huh? Those aren't too common where I'm from, but I know what they look like! I can help out." Freya took a stick and started to scratch out her own rendition of a pikachu. It was wobbly but less angry at least? It rather looked like a bubble version of pikachu. No pointy teeth at least. — OOC: Freya draws a snow-chu

In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
TAG Steph PixelNOTES - i hate how much i love this For what it was worth, it was a great plan in the end, if people saw something they liked they were more likely to come around. That was the basic nature of humanity, and Raiden thought it was pretty smart for someone this young. However, there were a few things that he wasn't so sure about. Like the fact that she called herself a professor and that he was reduced to an assistant. It wasn't like this was the first time he had come across someone much younger, so this wasn't that strange. "Raiden." he offers when she prompts him to offer his name.
If only the trainer knew the crazy things that were coming up in Daisy's mind. Though some of them weren't too far from the truth at least when it came to saving his friends. That was something that Raiden would not forget for now however it seemed that they had someone that would help with the initial idea. Raiden would rather stay out of the entire thing to begin with at least when it came to sketching. He didn't want to do it, especially since he didn't want to be any more embarrassed than he was now. Making maps gave him a good eye for how to accurately describe things so it should relate to something like this but nah wasn't his cup of tea.
"A pleasure." he offers when Freya introduces herself though he doubts he will see them again after this. It just isn't in his nature to be around many people but it was mostly just a fear he had and nothing against them. He keeps his distance as Daisy asks about her Pokemon though he does pull out his dex to get an official reading on the Pokemon when she explains it. Though it seemed the Dex was giving a little bit of trouble and not giving any information, ugh stupid thing, maybe it didn't like the cold either. With a small sigh, he moves to put it away since it isn't of any use right now, he'd have to check on it later since the last thing he wanted was that professor getting upset that he somehow broke his dex.
So he waited as Freya tried her hand at the Pokemon and this one looked much better than the previous attempted one. A nod of approval from Raiden when it was completed. "That one looks much more like a Pikachu, what do you think, will this help?" he asked looking at Daisy. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do here, what else went into making a snow Pikachu? He guessed the snow part, but well - this was his first time after all.

”Aha! I knew this was definitely a super rare and cool and special Pokémon from another region! I am a Professor, after all,” Daisy said, trying to ogle Frigibax a bit more. (She’d clearly failed to properly deduce that Frigibax was a girl, but hey—it was kind of hard to tell with Pokémon a lot of the time. Even for distinguished “professors” such as herself.) Tulip had already scuttled back, sniffing at the foreign Pokémon cautiously from a safe distance away. The grass-type also glanced aside at Raiden and his Charmander as if to say ’I know she’s not a real professor, but it’s easier if you just play along.’Professor or not, Daisy didn’t much fancy having her fingers chomped off, either. She pulled her mittened hands just a little closer to her body. She figured she was going to need them pretty soon. She fell silent for a change, observing with piqued interest as Freya the Expert Pokémon Trainer proved to also be Freya the Expert Pokémon Artist. The resulting sketch was cute, cheery, smiley, and most of all— ”It’s…so…ROUND!” she said, planting her feet mightily in the ground and shouting triumphantly to the sky. She outstretched her gangly arms in jubilation. A snowflake flew up her nose for the umpteenth time. (Round, of course, was perfect for a snow Pikachu, since they had to be made out of snowballs. Which were also round. It was genius.) Raiden asked if the sketch was helpful. Daisy nodded so fast she thought her head might fly off its hinges for a second or two. ”You bet your sweet Bibarel it helps!” Daisy said emphatically. Now, it was time for Phase Two of Operation: Pikachu Head to kick into high gear. She rubbed her hands together—partly because it was cold out here, but also partly because it made it look like she was cooking up an amazing strategy. …Which she was. ”Okay, so here’s the plan. Me and Professor Tulip are gonna start rolling up another snowball—we’re good at those,” she said, indicating the body she’d already made. ”We’ll make sure we get the shape just right. You two can start looking for stuff to decorate the head—it’s gonna need cheeks like ’piiiiiika pika’ and eyes like…’Kachew! Kachew!’—just like in Freya’s drawing,” she added, motioning to the fresh sketch on the ground. ”So you can grab some rocks or berries or something, and we’ll use those for the face parts, and then Freya can carve the mouth in with a stick ‘cause she’s good at drawing. This is gonna be the best snow Pikachu ever!”It was a foolproof plan; Daisy was sure of it. Without even waiting for a confirmation, she dove towards the lawn to start gathering up a fresh snowball with Tulip stumbling after her. Of course Raiden and Freya were going to help her—they were an Expert Pokémon Trainer and a Good Guy, after all. Daisy packed some dense, wet clumps of snow together between her palms and let her Bulbasaur handle the rest—although she may have expedited the process by running along behind her reluctant Pokémon as she rolled up the snowball, shouting “Faster Tulip, faster! I’m a wild Frigibax! Wrooooar!”

"We're on accessory duty, huh?" she chuckled, elbowing Raiden. "Let's go get eyes and cheeks like rawr!" Giggles. It was fun to watch the kid play imagination games as she went around rolling snowballs. And she wasn't in any real hurry. Freya already did this song and dance once. She was a champion trainer in a different region. For now, she just wanted to relax and study pokemon myths and legends and lore.
While in New Bark, she heard that someone had brought Alolan Totem Trials to Johto. That sounded awesome! Sure, maybe not as mythological and striking as tera pokemon, but Totems had their own lore she'd only read about in magazines and articles. What made the Totem Pokemon of alola bigger than normal pokemon? Unlike Galar's Gigantamax pokemon and Paldea's Tera Den pokemon, it seemed that Totems were always bigger and stayed bigger, even when captured for study.
Wait. Her mind was wandering.
"Okay 'Baxy, time to look for stuff! Let's see if we can find some red leaves left over from fall for the cheeks! Oh, and maybe some wood or charcoal from a log that a trainer might have burnt during a battle..."
<...That insufferable arcanine of yours could make charcoal if you need it that bad.>
"Oh, you're so right!" Freya grinned. "Arcanine, I need your help!" She threw a ball and from it emerged the ancient variety of the species not often seen in modern day. He promptly hopped up on her and licked her face. "Oof, hey buddy! Love you too. I'm trying to make charcoal for some eyes for a snow-chu. Will need your help once I find some wood."
He boofed.
<I can help! I help mama!>

In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
Everything was for lack of a better word, snowballing, out of control it felt like. Raiden hadn't meant to stop for this long, but well, here they were now, and he wasn't going to just walk off. It seemed they had a job to do here and he wouldn't be allowed to leave until it was completed. This meant with the image now in their minds they had to find the things that would make it be so. Daisy seemed to be on the duty of making snowballs and Raiden watched as she ran around trying to make it bigger. He had almost forgotten Freya for a moment until he felt the movement of her arm into his side.
Golden hues move to her instead as she proclaims their jobs again. "It would seem so." he said. Though even for as much of a stiff as he was he does ease some when she gives a rawr just like Daisy did. A small sigh comes from the larger man but a small smile could be seen at the edge of his mouth. He didn't hate the situation at least and might have been, gasp, having a little bit of fun. Now what could be used for accessories exactly? It had those bands around its ears and the red dots of its cheeks. He listens to Freya as she mentions to her Pokemon what they can look for. Leaves huh? Not likely considering it was already snowing, they were probably buried somewhere and he wasn't a fan of digging in snow.
"If you handle the charcoal, I can probably get something together for the ears and cheeks." he had some extra scrap material from that survival course, didn't he? He had ripped it up to mark their trail, so he could use that to wrap around the ears and he could probably find something red to do that too. Raiden moved to pull his bag off his back and scavenge in it when he heard the sound of a pokemon being released. Eyes glance up from their temporary assignment to see... a weird version of an arcanine maybe?
"That doesn't look like a pokemon I've ever seen." Raiden wasn't all-knowing after all and if she wanted to show off pokemon then he would ask questions about it. "Another one from that far-off home of yours?" he asked before dedicating himself back to searching. Why did he have so much freaking stuff? Oh right, all those raffles that kept sending him stuff. He really needed to organize this bag. This was going to take him a moment to locate the material that he had. [googlefont=Karla]

Out of breath and covered in fat, sticky clumps of snow from running around pretending to be a Frigibax for several minutes, Daisy waddled her way back toward her group of loyal building assistants, giving Tulip commands as she went. “Okay, Professor Tulip…that’s perfect! Now just…pick it up with your vines…and we’ll walk it over to the body…uh-huh…whew!”Placing her hands on her knees, she stopped to take in a huge gulp of cold air. It was bracing, and it turned her already-rosy nose even pinker than before. Daisy slapped both cheeks with her mittens to get her brain juices flowing again. Then, she glanced at Tulip, who was hovering the snow Pikachu’s head just over its body. “Wait, move it a little more to the left. I mean…the other left. Yeah! Now set it down..lower…and…bingo! Now hold it there a second—“She quickly picked up two handfuls of snow and patted them down between the snow critter’s head and body, securing the top part onto the bottom. Slowly, she stepped away to see if the whole thing would stand on its own. When it didn’t wobble or roll off, Daisy cheered. ”Ta-daa! The body is complete!” she announced to the small crowd of people and Pokémon gathered around the snowman. ”Oh, but you can hold your applause to the end.”She noticed that Raiden was rummaging around in his bag. Daisy stooped down across from him, just to be nosy—what kinds of stuff did Good Guys have in their backpacks, anyway? A magical golden puzzle, or an alchemy kit, or one of the seven Dragonite Balls, maybe? The answer was…a lot, actually. Just at a glance, Daisy could make out piles of apricorns, feathers, berries, and mints; some shiny-looking rocks, a spoon, and some kind of weird button. ”Whoah, that’s a lot of stuff!” Daisy exclaimed. ”How’d you get all that?!”Tulip gave her a little poke in the side, as if to tell her trainer ’Stop that, you’re invading his personal space.’ Daisy, of course, held no such notions of things like other people’s privacy. She wanted to see what the inside of an experienced Trainer’s bag looked like. Speaking of experienced trainers, Freya had called out another Pokémon to help. “Holy Moltres, that dog’s gigantic!” Daisy screamed in excitement. ”I wish my mom would let me keep a Pokémon like that in our house.”Then, the barrage of questions started coming, and they didn’t stop. ”What does he eat? Does he know how to jump through a hoop or do races or shake paws or stuff like that?! Is he good at finding things?”
