"Whatever, man. Ekans, use Wrap!" The Ninja Thief brushed off aside what his opponent was saying, the same way they're brushing off each others' words. It looked like a battle would have to conclude to settle whose words was more threatening or something. The poison type Pokemon slithered on the ground, dodging the Charmander's flames along the way, and then found an opportunity to wrap the newbie lizard's body with its tail. The fire type was stuck and had a difficult time moving on his own! Thankfully, the young lizard seized the chance to fire a quick specks of flames at the Ekans. It wasn't enough to scorch or to burn the Ekans, but it was enough to make it hurt. The snake hissed in pain, further tightening its grip of the Charmander in response. "I'll be nice and let you go once Ekans squeeze the light out of your Charmander, you just need to leave me afterward, understood?" The opponent spoke firmly. By the time Cole got out of the pitfall with Sprigatito in his arms, he gasped when he saw his Charmander wrapped by the poacher's Ekans. Kagetchi desperately struggled to get out of his bindings, yet Cole could tell he couldn't endure it for long. Now that he was back on the ground, he could see the poacher in person. Ninja attire aside, he could tell from his eyes he was serious with his offer. He would surrender for Kagetchi's sake. But he knew that would mean letting the poacher get away and he could also tell from his Fire-type Pokemon's eyes and the flame still burning on the tip of his tail that he wasn't giving up yet. There was a chance he couldn't recall him in this state, so a risk and reward tactic was in order. "How about a third option?" Cole turned to his starter Pokemon. "Kagetchi, keep using Ember on that smug snake's head!"The Charmander grinned before he followed on with his trainer's order. Kagetchi keeps using Ember at the ninja's Ekans.

"I gave you a chance. Not my fault if you're too stupid to take it," the ninja thief said with a shrug as he watched his ekans continue to squeeze the daylights out of the charmander. "While you have that charmander wrapped up, use poison sting! Show'em who'se boss." The snake hissed and did just that, opening its maw and covered the poor charmander in poisonous barbs. And unfortunately, one of them nicked a little too deep and the fire lizard broke out in a cold, shivering sweat. Poisoned. Now statused, wrapped and unable to flee or be returned, the charmander was effectively helpless unless his trainer was able to heal him. At least it could get one more good ember out if nothing else! Opening his mouth, he breathed fire onto the ekan's face, making the snake cringe back and hiss. "Gonna make you regret not taking that deal, kid," the ninja thief laughed. Clearly, he felt like he had the upperhand now and wasn't about to lose it. Cole sunk into horror as he watched his Charmander not only get hit with Poison Sting but also poisoned by it. What was worse was his tail's flame started to shrink. To the ninja thief, it would mean Cole's loss and his one step closer to his "catches". But he made one fatal mistake. He started laughing at Cole and Kagetchi's despair and position. Rather than screaming for him to stop, Cole's face twisted in pure rage. How long was he pissed at anyone laughing at others' misery? He didn't know if it was that Murkrow incident in Paldea or not, but he didn't care about the details. He now cared about teaching this poacher a lesson. "One chance," he muttered in a voice void of emotion. "You only have one chance left."The Sprigatito's eyes widened to see the young boy's sudden change of demeanor. It found itself gently placed back on the ground and to its shock, he started charging towards the Ekans holding his Fire-type with a Potion taken out from his bag. She didn't know if she could trust him or not, but she knew he might hurt himself if he charged in like that. In case, the poacher could do something, Sprigatito quickly rushed to him and attempted to scratch him to distract him. As for Cole, he quickly used the Potion on Kagetchi. If he made it, tne squirt briefly stung him, but it was enough to bring his tail flame back to its normal size. He didn't know why his trainer would charge in like that, but he was relieved that he saved him. Regardless, it was enough for him to get back as he let out one more Ember in one last attempt to finish off the Ekans. Cole used a Potion to Kagetchi before using Ember at the ninja's Ekans. ( OOC: Spirgatito's Scratch on the ninja is only for flavor. It won't affect the whole battle.)

Maybe that distraction was enough. The ekans and charmander were fairly tied for speed. It was impossible to tell who hit who first. After being healed, the charmander shuddered as he was blighted by poison and at last released from the wrap, and once more showered in poisonous barbs. It was so overwhelming. Could he keep this up? But before the ekans could spit more barbs and end the battle, there was a moment of hesitation. Or maybe the charmander was motivated by pure desperation. But he released a bright, hot breath of fire right in the ekans' face and the terrible snake was at last defeated. However...that wasn't the end of this awful fight. The poacher shoved the sprigattito off him with a curse, uncaring about shoving the cat in a way that would hurt it. "Tch. I have a superior feline anyway. You and your pitiful pokemon won't win." And he sent out a meowth to prove his point. Trainer Battle Weather: Chinook (clear) [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Ekans LV 8 HP 0% [0/26]

It seemed like Cole's gambit paid off. Not only did he save his Charmander from Ekans' underhanded tactics, but he managed to finish it before he almost succumbed to his poison. He would have let him faint from it to take it out without his intervention. But he didn't like that tactic and there was a high risk the poison would get to him or the Ekans was fast enough to outspeed him. So having to risk himself on the battlefield was unfair, but necessary to save his starter. However, there was a price for his actions and Cole would realize this as he saw the Sprigatito he saved was now in the hands of the poacher. He realized it must have risked itself to help a stranger save Kagetchi. But now, he felt guilty he took his eyes away only for the Grass Cat Pokemon to get caught again. It was worse when he saw the poacher sent out his Meowth to replace his now-fainted Ekans. While he saved Kagetchi, it didn't mean he was out of the woods yet. He used a Potion instead of an Antidote, so he wasn't cured of his poison yet. But with his newly-caught Sentret as his only Pokemon beyond Kagetchi, he had no chance of winning... "AWWWWWOOOOOO!!!"Cole's eyes widened when he heard a familiar howl. Because unknown to him, the Poochyena Kagetchi guarded earlier witnessed everything. He saw the young trainer's risky gamble to Kagetchi's determination to win for the sake of the trapped Pokemon. He might be weakened, but not enough to put him out of the battle completely. The Dark-type quickly jumped in front of the duo and growled at the ones who trapped him and the Sprigatito. "Wait, you're going to fight with us?" Cole asked in shock. "But what about..."However, Poochyena simply grinned at his savior and continued growling at his new opponent. They saved him and he would do the same for them. This was something Cole noticed and smiled back, now grateful for his help. "Then can you do something to deter that guy's Meowth first?"Poochyena responded by running up to his opponent and kicking a pile of sand at the Normal-type Pokemon. Cole would have asked it to use any offensive move, but after seeing Kagetchi's battle ended with him being poisoned, he might as well start being cautious. The formerly trapped Poochyena (Vidar) volunteered to take Kagetchi's place and used Sand Attack

The Ninja looked a bit surprised when the poochyena he had briefly caught in a trap now joined forces with the brat, he shrugged, it wouldn't make any difference. What sounded like a little bell rung in the treetops above, followed by angry frustrated chirping which made the Ninja light up, the little of what could be seen of his face. He glanced down at the sprigatito squirming under his arm and effortlessly climbed the tree with it under his arm. With lightening speed he had tied it up in the tree, leaving it hanging as an unripe fruit for later picking and he continued up into the tree. "A pidgey! You are going to make someone very happy," the ninja's voice said up from the treetop and the protesting chirping got louder. Something fell to the ground, it was the collar the green cat had been wearing, the ninja had apparently freed it from that, and the proof it could provice. Speaking of sprigatito not being native to this region, poochyenas weren't normally seen around New Bark Town either, they had sometimes swarmed but that was quite some time since that had last happened, so what was the pup doing around here? Meowth hissed and grinned as the pooch stepped forward, "why bother? You are going to lose like last time," it mocked, "we have just battled, if it can even been called a battle since you stupidly stepped on that trap."It took the time to lick its paw, just to show how little it was worried about this, it smirked as the poochyena bolted at it uncaring of all the traps and snares which littered the ground. "You have learned nothing I can see," not that it was bothering the cat, it would just mean the battle was easier. The cat got up and nimbly dodge the sand which was thrown at it, Poochyena had tried that in their last battle not long time ago and meowth knew his tricks, although that was fairly easy as none of them knew that much yet. Poochyena would also know what Meowth was up to, which was probably why he chose to start with the sand, even though it failed. Meowth darted around and gave him a hard push with its shoulder before it leaped away again, Poochyena stumbled and then the sound of a snapping trap made him freeze up in shock. Soon it would become clear he felt no pain and he had just yanked its chain when stumbled which had activated it, he hadn't been caught by one again. "Aw, that was so close! Don't worry, I'll get you trapped in no time!" The meowth purred mischievously. Cole narrowed his eyes when he saw the Meowth dodged the Poochyena's Sand Attack and made him flinch after being hit by its first attack. He didn't know what the Pokemon were talking about, but he had a feeling from the Meowth's grin that it was willing to go along with what its trainer would say. If he would reason with that Pokemon, there would be a high chance it would rebuff it. So reasoning was out of the picture. That aside, he noticed the Poochyena was more incensed after his attempted Sand Attack. He must have hated that Meowth from its first encounter and judging by how it laughed it managed to flinch before he could use Sand Attack, he guessed that this wasn't the first time he did that move. If he was right, then he needed another tactic. "Don't listen to some garbage Meowth just cried out. How about doing more than a Sand Attack?" Cole smirked. "Can you do that?"The Poochyena's eyes widened at the sight of the human's changed expression. He didn't think about using beyond his Sand Attack. But if the human he trusted wanted him to do it, then why not take this chance? He then charged at the Meowth once more and attempted to throw mud at not only his opponent but possibly its trainer to stop him from getting the Pidgey. The formerly trapped Poochyena (Vidar) used Mud Slap!

The meowth purred as it watched how Vidar fought to keep his head clear and not attack in blind rage, it was so nice when your word poked them all the right places. It had no qualms about toying with its prey and dragging this battle out as long as it could, it was certain about what the result would be in the end. The cat growled playfully and swished its tail while staring intently at the pup who felt wary of what it might be up to, he might hold back in fear of what tricks it was up to. The cat rolled its eyes when poochyena dashed at it again, what was it with that dog and running through a minefield of traps with no care in the world, especially for attacks which was thrown from a distance? Poochyena made a sliding stop and luckily avoid no less than four traps before he kicked to sent dirt flying at the cat. A loud complaining hiss followed as the cat got soiled, and it vigorously started to clean its face and fur. "You'll pay for that!" Meowth growled maliciously and glared at the poochyena. Running around on the ground did nothing to stop the poacher, he was high up in the tree dealing with the bird which had been snared. If they wanted to stop him, they would either need to go up into the tree themselves, lure him down or find some back-up. Perhaps there were others out here trying to find and stop the poacher now there had been an official warning about it, but how to find them or tell them to come here? Cole could of course also try detain the ninja himself when and if he got dealt with the meowth, and hand him over to some police. Just watching the Meowth attack the Poochyena with a grin reminded Cole of his school days. His bullies tried to harass and harm him in an attempt to piss him off. He did try to ignore them, but they were too persistent and willing to break him no matter what even luring him into a dangerous area during the Treasure Hunt. He would have succumbed to their taunts if it wasn't for the Murkrow attack and being a bit smarter to their ambush. This was a bit different. While he helped the Poochyena to calm down, his last Mud Slap wasn't enough to stop the poacher from snatching the Pidgey. Thinking about it, incapacitating wasn't enough. In fact, he needed to gain enough attention to ensure true sabotage of his operations. "Use Howl next! And try to make it the loudest that is enough to disturb anyone nearby!"The Poochyena was confused at his next order. But he did need a boost anyway. He let out the loudest Howl he could get, which might be enough for anyone nearby to notice it. The formerly trapped Poochyena (Vidar) used Howl!

Meowth was quick to follow up on its threat, though it didn't quite carry the level of glamour it otherwise tried to carry itself with. A seemingly random, disorganized, swatting of claw and paw slapped their way around the thick mat of fur protecting Vidar. It was unpleasant, but that's about all that could be said of this revenge for spattering the feline with a thick pellet of mud. Meowth seemed pleased with themselves though. Tail high and turning its nose up with a toothy grin the cat hopped back away after ward. The howl that proceeded in booming fashion rattled the leaves like a gentle breeze. Meowth cried and hissed, ears turning down at the annoyance. A light curse trickled from a distance no doubt belonging to the ninja as it came from up high. The pidgey's frantic squawks reached a new sharp, half a second, peak before it cut to silence. Leaves shook and some upper branches quivered as a weight was shifted, but leaving the scene with an impressive speed was a spooked pidgey. No doubt it wouldn't pass by here alone for quite a while. Cole was amazed and disturbed at the same time. He was expecting the Poochyena to give out his loudest Howl, but he didn't expect how loud it was. Heck, it was enough to drive the Pidgey away before the ninja could get to it. Regardless, he hoped that was enough to garner some attention. While he wasn't sure someone would respond to it, that move might be enough to boost his strength for a while. Now all that was left was to deal with that nasty Meowth. "Good job! Now follow it up with Bite!" Cole ordered with as much bravado as he could all while not knowing if the Poochyena knew that move or not. "Ruff! Ruff!"To his surprise, the Dark-type Pokemon charged towards the cat Pokemon and jumped up for a big bite somewhere around it's body. This quickly confirmed that he learned that move, which was lucky to have that strong Dark-type move in the first place. He didn't know why, but he was strangely strong for a Poochyena. This made him question if he was a wild Pokemon before being caught by the ninja's trap. Either way, this fight was far from over... The formerly trapped Poochyena (Vidar) used Bite!

The Ninja Thief laughed from his safe spot in the tree. They would never defeat him. He was wise in the ways of his Poke-poaching and avoided the hands of many police officers in the past, sometimes straight up vanishing before their eyes like some sort of magician. “My Meowth is going a little too easy lately. Give up this fruitless attempt before we get really angry. These Pokemon were mine fair and square, thanks to my traps! You’re just a thorn in our side!” The thief shouted, jumping down and pointing a singular finger at Vidar. “This one is expected to fetch me a nice sum of funds on the market!” He scoffed. “Meowth use Flail!” The command was sharp and quick. It caused the furry feline to drop on all fours once more and rush towards her opponent at the tips of her clawed paws. The ground was too slippery and the mud in her eyes made it nearly impossible to see anything. She slammed headfirst into a nearby tree instead and pulled back, growling from the pain that emanated in her noggin. That stupid pup would pay for moving out of the way and causing her to miss! As she spun around in anger, Vidar’s teeth would snap down on the soft furry flesh of her side, causing Meowth to yowl loudly from the pain. “You stupid, useless twerp!” The Ninja Thief snapped, stomping his foot in the soggy earth covered in melted snow. He recalled his Pokemon and turned to speed off into the night in a flash, only to have police appear seemingly out of nowhere and snatch him up. “Young man, we can’t thank you enough! We’ve been looking for this particular thief for months now! You’re going to the big house!” Officer Jenny stated firmly, as her apprentice walked over to Cole and handed him a small sum of funds. “This was the reward for any tips leading to his arrest. You deserve it more than anyone else for putting a stop to his criminal ways.” He stated with a smile.

Cole was already irritated at the thief's arrogant proclamation at this point. All he could see was nothing more than a heartless poaching operation and calling the Poochyena "funds" was enough to peeve him once more. "So in the end, it's still all about the money." He narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth. "Looks like no matter what I say, you're still too greedy to see Pokemon as merchandise than living beings. Too bad this will be your downfall." He then watched the Dark-type hyena bite down on Meowth's side. "Don't say I warn you! Finish it, little guy!"True to his words, the Poochyena tossed the Meowth from his mouth. With the yowl, the fight finally ended in Cole's favor. The ninja thief tried to escape, but it seemed like his previous Howl was enough to gather some police officers to catch him in the act just in time before placing him in cuffs. Once that was done, one of them rewarded the young trainer with money for his brave actions. "Thank you. But I mostly did it to free the captive Pokemon and bring him to justice. I'm sorry if I overstepped your boundaries and my safety.""As long everyone is safe, we're just happy you helped out with his capture," the police officer said. "You should get going, young man. It's too dangerous to stay here at night.""Yeah, I can already tell. If you tell me where the next town is, I'll be happy to leave the route."Another officer approached the young man after apprehending the criminal. "No need, young man. After everything you did to stop the poacher's operations alone, it would be rude for us to leave you be," Jenny said. "Come on. We'll escort you to Cherrygrove City as another thank you."Cole smiled at this. He was simply doing his part to protect the wild Pokemon, so he appreciated their help. But speaking of which, he remembered about the injured Sprigatito and Poochyena he saved before the battle. "Sure. But on the condition that you help me find the owner of these Pokemon. I saw some collars on them and it would be rude for me to ignore them."Officer Jenny looked at the Pokemon's collars in question. "Ah, these two. This Poochyena seemed originally from an Adoption Center in the Cherrygrove branch. As for Sprigatito, it was supposed to be one of the prize Pokemon in the Paldea Festival. But they already left two days ago. I can give you a number to them if you like."He was surprised to hear their origins. He would try to keep them immediately, but he should contact their original owners just in case. "I would like that."----- Normally, it would take him a few hours to reach Cherrygrove City by foot. But thanks to a turn of events, he was able to reach it by police car. He was a bit embarrassed about the ride since he simply did his part to protect the route's Pokemon. But he was grateful for the police officers' help. This made him more determined to be part of the police so he would help more people and Pokemon. That aside, he didn't hesitate to make the city's Pokemon Center as his first stop as he had to leave his Pokemon including the newcomers to rest from their previous battles and make a few phone calls afterward. For the Adoption Centre, the breeders thanked him for rescuing the poor Poochyena. He also learned that Poochyena had a name given by his previous breeder: Vidar. While he wanted to return him, he could tell from Vidar's face that he grew attached to him. Instead, Cole asked the breeders if he could adopt him using the current funds he earned from arresting that poacher, to which they agreed. Once he wire transferred the fee, Vidar was now his and the Dark-type hyena couldn't be happier to have a new trainer to care for him. As for Sprigatito, it was certainly a surprise for him. After explaining the situation to the organizers, they told him to keep the Grass-type as a reward for helping the poor cat from being abducted by a selfish poacher as well as an apology for not noticing it sooner. He was hesitant at first, but looking at the Sprigatito rubbing its face on his leg made him think otherwise. So he accepted and turned to the grass cat. "What do you think, Sprigatito? Are you okay being your trainer here?" He asked. "I get this is not like Paldea. But I'm just like you. I have previously traveled to your home region and am here to do the same with the Johto region. I promised that all of my friends would keep you safe and if you like, get stronger alongside them."The Grass-type Pokemon stared at the young trainer for a while. It then meowed and jumped onto his shoulder. "So is that a yes?" The Sprigatito meowed again. "Awesome! And I already came up with your nickname in case something like this happens. How about "Ruri"?""Nya!"Cole smiled at it's answer. "Then from now on, you're Ruri! Let's get along and work hard with our goals, Vidar and Ruri!"Both Pokemon cried happily with their trainer. After everything he went through to get to his destination, Cole was happy that he managed to leave the route with three new Pokemon in his team. Now all that was left for him was to rest for the night and plan out his next destination for tomorrow. ( OOC: And that's it for this threat! Cole is moving to Cherrygrove! Thanks for modding, mods! See you at other threads!)
