Name: Takara Akabane
Age: 18
Gender: Trans Male
Trainer Type: Pokemon Breeder
Hometown: Mahogany Town, Johto
Appearance: Takara took most of his looks from the father he never met, his mother had told him many times. His hair is almost entirely white, save for a streak of bright red that matches his mother's hair color.
His eye color is between his more his mother's red than his father's bright gold, but sometimes in the right light there is a hint of it to his gaze.
The neatly brushed hair of his is just long enough to be tied back, without being too long as to give Takara a more feminine look that he'd hate. He didn't used to tie his hair at all, but when his mother left, she left behind the red ribbon that was the only true possession she had from his father. It's an old ribbon, older than he is, but it's in good shape enough to wear.
Outfit wise, Takara wears simple clothes that one would expect from one in his late teens. His pants are always jeans, no matter the season. The shirts range from solids to themed shirts. He likes music, so he has a few band-related shirts. He adores pokemon, so he has a variety of pokemon themed shirts in his collection too. He does have a few button downs in black, white, or red. His frequently worn jackets tend to follow the same color theme.
Personality: What Takara wants most is to be his own person. He's spent nearly his whole life with a mother that compared him to a person he's never even met, his father. Regarding both his parents, he feels very conflicted. While his mother loved him to a point, it was clearly not enough to get her to stay when her plan went awry.
His father is a mystery to him, for all that he's been told countless things about him. Clearly, his mother didn't know him as well as she thought she did, so maybe Takara's father wouldn't have really wanted him. Maybe his mother was completely delusional.
Beyond the conflict regarding his parents, Takara is a kind and sweet person. He doesn't want to ever wish anything bad on anyone. It was honestly a relief that his mother made sure he never got involved in her criminal work, even if she had her own reasons for that.
He genuinely wants to become a good pokemon breeder, with a reputation all his own that he can be proud of. He had been lucky enough to escape the criminal connections his parents had. He won’t sacrifice his chance to be his own person, not to anything.
History: It's hard to get into the history of Takara without also getting into the history of his parents. His father and his mother were young when they met. The two were friends for a time, and then lovers briefly, until a breakup when his father came to the conclusion he was really more gay than bi.
They parted well at the time, each taking on different jobs in their shared work. His mother was assigned a job in Johto, and his father stayed in Kanto. It didn't take long for his father to begin to build the beginnings of a reputation among the workforce.
And then, when his mother realized she was pregnant, she had an idea. Or, at least, it started as an idea. It would grow into an obsession.
Takara's mother and father likely were neither able to be considered scrupulous individuals, considering that the particular work they did was for Team Rocket. But his mother was willing to go to new lows as she decided to keep Takara for the sole reason of eventually guilt-tripping Takara's father with him once he got to a high enough position in Team Rocket to have big earnings that he would give her.
Not too soon, or they'd lose it all, she'd always tell Takara as she brushed his hair. She didn't want Takara to distract his father from rising through the ranks by his father knowing of Takara's existance. She was so certain that he would make it. And over the years, he gradually rose higher and higher.
Until his father lost all rank entirely by entering a semi-retired position. When Takara's mother learned of this, her entire past fourteen years were wasted, she was furious. And then she vanished.
It took about a week for Takara to realize his mother wasn't coming back. So he knocked on Law Enforcement's door and told them that he was pretty sure his mother had abandoned him.
Part of him was tempted to give his father's name to the authorities, see if his father would truly care about him as his mother was so convinced she would. But she had been wrong about at least one thing about his father, and he wasn't risking it. He told the authorities when questioned that he'd never met his father and left it at that.
There was no need to involved Akio Mochizuki, who didn't even know he had a son.
He ended up in a foster home. It was okay. But, really, Takara wanted to do something his own. So, he approached his guardians about wanting to start a pokemon adventure in Hoenn. His guardians agreed, so long as he researched the region thoroughly, as well as what path he wanted to take.
It took a couple years for him to figure things out and prepare, along with decide where he wanted to begin his journey.
But in the end, he decided on the path of a pokemon breeder.
Goals: Become his own person, separate from either of his parents' identities.
Other Info: Biologically, his mother is Tsubaki Akabane and his father is Akio Mochizuki. He gets along well with his foster family, who have supported him the past two years as he tries to figure things out.
How did you find us?: I don't remember, to be honest. I've been lurking a while. It was definitely an ad, somewhere, but not sure which.
