Name: Ember Saevel
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Trainer Type: Trainer (?)
Hometown: Lavender Town
Appearance: Ember is a red-haired, green-eyed teenage girl. She stands at 5'2, with ivory skin. Her red hair is shoulder-length. She is usually wearing a black dress, with white socks and mary janes. She wears a black shoulder-bag satchel to carry her items, and any Pokeballs she may have. She usually switches to dark denim shorts and a white tank top in the summer months, so that she doesn't get too warm. For formal attire, she switches to a dark burgundy dress similar to a ballgown, with her hair pinned in space buns. She has a tattoo of a rose on her right arm, in memory of her late grandmother Doris that passed away. She has her ears double pierced, with one nostril pierced and hopes to get more soon.
As far as body type goes, Ember isn't chubby, but rather an hourglass shape with a little tummy. She also has freckles peppered across the bridge of her nose and her shoulders, which grow more in definition when she's out in the sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Another feature is that her ears are slightly pointed at the tips, which has always been a subject of insecurity for the teen girl.
Personality: Ember is shy upon interacting with most people at first. She is suspicious of anyone that is friendly toward her, and usually doesn't trust very easily. She usually starts off very reserved, but if someone talks to her about her favorite subjects - fire-type Pokemon and battle strategies, she becomes very hyper and excitable. She dislikes severe heat, even though she wants to specialize in fire-type Pokemon, and loves spicy food. She also enjoys arcade games. She doesn't like walking, instead preferring biking as a way to travel and get around, but will walk if she needs to. She also enjoys foraging for berries. She severely dislikes water, or water-type Pokemon.
As far as strengths and weaknesses, Ember is incredible at coming up with battle strategies, but terrible at implementing them. In the heat of battle, she usually panics and goes with the flow, ending her up in more trouble rather than not. She isn't fond of people bullying others, and has a short temper when it comes to people picking on others that are weaker than them. The only problem is that she doesn't really know what to say past, "Hey! Leave them alone!" and usually ends up the target of being bullied herself.
History: Ember grew up in a single-parent household with her mother, Eloise, raising her alone. As a young child, she loved to wander in the forests near Lavender Town, and made friends with most of the Pokemon that lived there. She learned as much as she possibly could about them, and dreamed of becoming a great enough trainer so that someday, she could travel the world and meet more Pokemon rather than the ones she just saw in her small neck of the woods. One day, she befriended a small purple Pokemon that spoke to her psychically, and taught her how to use the spiritual planes so that she could commune with other Pokemon, if they allowed her to.
Her father passed away when she was only eight. He was a sailor that traveled the seas and brought equipment to neighboring regions. One day, his ship went down and news got back to Lavender Town where Ember learned of her father's demise in the ocean. She's been afraid of the water ever since then, even going so far as to refuse swimming in pools. Her mother tried to break this habit, tried to force Ember to swim so that she wouldn't be afraid of the water, but it was always led back to Ember reminding her mother of her father's tragic demise.
Eloise didn't push the issue much after Ember turned 12. She instead comforted her daughter, coddling her and effectively ensuring that Ember wouldn't go near water since her mother never tried to break that fear.
During her time at school, she had only a few friends and was known as the 'quiet kid'. She was the girl that only ever spoke when she was spoken to, and didn't really have any enemies. One day during school, she learned about legendary Pokemon, and realized that once she was able to finally leave her hometown, she would strive to see as many as she possibly could. Ember doesn't have any intention of catching these Pokemon, but rather befriending them if possible and committing them to memory. She doesn't know if she wants to be a Pokemon Trainer, but strives to connect as much as she possibly can with any Pokemon she does come across.
After getting permission to leave school at 17 from her mother, she lost contact with the friends she made, leaving her pretty much isolated from the only friends she ever knew. She doesn't know where her previous friends are at now, or what they're doing, but she hopes that she will be able to see them again on the path to the Elite Four (or wherever her journey takes her).
Goals: Ember's main goal is to see as many Pokemon as she possibly can. She wants to document them, learn about them, and befriend them, while also finding her own way in the world.
