Night of the Living Tree Quest!
Aphrodite wanted to enjoy a lovely, peaceful picnic in the National Park with her Pokémon. However, the thick fog that surrounded the area made it almost impossible to see or enjoy anything. So, instead of taking a moment to attempt to explore the famous park, Aphrodite and her Pokémon continued to move towards Ecruteak City. Perhaps, she will be able to return to the National Park at a later time. Hopefully, when the weather is more radiant and beautiful, "I just do not understand it. Goldenrod City is such a beautiful place, yet I feel like we did not fully get a chance to enjoy it because of this horrible fog. One would think that it would have let up at least a little bit by now," The golden-haired beauty sighed, shaking her head in disappointment. The Mawile and Brionne walking beside her seem to be in agreement with their trainer's words. They, too, are over the foggy weather.
Aphrodite and her Pokémon soon found themselves entering the park area and heading in the direction of a garden-like field. Her warm, honeyed eyes carefully took in the sight around her as much as she could, with the thick fog still in the way. "Huh? I don't remember the map mentioning anything about a berry field around here... Or at least I don't think that I do..." She spoke out more for herself than for her Pokémon. She was starting to wonder if she had managed to get them on the wrong trail due to not being able to see clearly through all of the fog surrounding them. Still, she continued to move forward, leading her Pokémon through the fog. Eventually, she felt her designer, running shoes step into something mushy and uncomfortable. An expression of disgust quickly appeared over her fair face as she let out a loud "Ewww! Gross! What is it?!" She asked out loudly to her Pokémon, almost too scared to take a look for herself.
"You've got to be kidding me! My new shoes are totally ruined now!" She pointed out, finally glancing down at her shoes, which are stained with brightly colored berry juice from fallen berries scattered across the ground. Without too much thought, Raina fired a light stream of bubbles at her trainer's shoes, washing away the stains. Aphrodite blinked her eyes a couple of times before giving the water-type a half-smile. "Thanks, Raina. I suppose I was being a little too dramatic there for a second, huh? I didn't even think about using your bubbles to save my shoes," she giggled, slightly embarrassed about her short primadonna moment.
"Now that is over and done with... Why are all of these berries on the ground? More importantly, why are a lot the trees damaged along with a lot of the other stuff in this garden?" She questioned. Raina, being curious, waddled over towards a fallen berry to sniff it, then opened her mouth to take a bite from it. "Hey! Stop it! Those berries do not belong to us!" She reminded her. The Brionne stopped herself from taking a bit of the berry and lowered her head a bit in embarrassment.
Aphrodite walked ove towards Raina, carefully picking her up and holding her in her arms as Dior stood behind her. In the distance, she could hear someone or something walking towards them through the fog. "Uhh, hello? Who's there?" she called out.

Between the fog obscuring her path, the setting sun and ascending moon blanketing the world in a moonlit darkness, and the litany of smashed berries littering the path, Aphrodite would be forgiven for thinking that the greater Goldenrod area left much to be desired. What was supposed to be a beautiful scenery leading from the park to the great crossroads of Johto was a trashy mess now, trees and shrubbery torn asunder almost randomly and without purpose. The berries, hardly eaten, let out a sickening squish as Aphrodite and her team continued their trek. The rustling from the bush was rather ominous, given the darkness around them all and the trashed scene around them. The sound of rumbling bramble and brush followed by the sound of heavy footsteps against solid ground, only interrupted by the bushes being pushed apart and an unfamiliar figure to emerge. A burly, short man in dirty overalls emerged. Adjusting the straw hat that sat atop a head of messy, dirty blonde hair, the man glared at Aphrodite harshly. "See we found the hooligans that have been tearing up my berry patch!" the man spat out in a slight twang. The man's face burned with rage as he reached into the pocket of his overalls, retrieving a Poke Ball. There would be no reasoning with him, too blinded by rage at who he believed to have been the vandal responsible for tearing apart his berry fields. "You're coming with me, right to the police station so you can answer for what you did! Wilbur, keep 'em from running away!"The Poke Ball came flying out, releasing a long noodle-like creature that stood proudly, flexing to show off what were probably supposed to be muscles. The Furret stood as menacingly as the friendly-faced mammal was capable of, intent on blocking Aphrodite from continuing on her journey until this misunderstanding was cleared up. Rancher Bernie has mistaken you for a vandal! Set him straight with a Pokemon Battle He sends out his Wilbur the Furret (Level 23)! Choose a Pokemon to battle with!

OOC: I would like to have Aphrodite attempt to use her IPF skills to earn merit during this thread. <3
Aphrodite flashed the cowboy-like man with a warm and welcoming smile as he emerged from behind the bush. However, her bright smile soon faded away after hearing those words come out of his mouth. She quickly took around herself to see if anyone else was in the area around them. She wanted to help him identify the hooligans that caused this mess. However, there did not seem to be anyone else around outside of them. She frowned at the cowboy after realizing that he was referring to her and her Pokémon. "I'm sorry, sure, but we're not hooligans. We're not the ones who caused the terrible mess. In fact, we found this place like this." She made an attempt to explain it to him while remaining calm and well-mannered.
Aphrodite giggled and shook her head a bit when the cowboy mentioned that she would be going to the police station with him to answer some questions. "I'm sorry sure, but that will not be necessary. You see, I am member of the International Police Force," she revealed to him, taking out her official badge and flashing it at him. "If you would allow me to, I would love to help you solve this mystery. We can work together to find the ones responsible for this mess," she added, giving him a soft smile.
Aphrodite's Pokémon surrounded her in a swift manner after the cowboy released his own Pokémon. "Stand down. There's no need for a fight," she told them, hoping that the cowboy would agree with her words, too.

Berny wasn’t easily convinced. It could have been the dense fog that covered most of Goldenrod proper and the surrounding areas. It could have been the fact that he’d recently heard stories on his latest news station, Fennekin News, about people pretending to be police with pretty ‘official looking’ badges, only to get inside your house and rob you blind. “Now missy, do you take me for some kind of a fool?!” He huffed angrily, gesturing to the crime scene. “I bet if I call Jenny, she’ll find your prints ALL over this scene! That’s gotta be enough to convict!” He scowled angrily. Wilbur growled as well, folding his ears back against his skull as he searched through the dense fog. Berny didn’t have to tell him what to do for the long ferret to know exactly how to handle varmints and criminals. A one-two kapow and nighty night they went! Wilbur raced through the fog after Aphrodite’s shadow, that swayed with the shifting silhouettes on the ground and gently billowing breeze. “You won’t fool us that easily!” Wilbur declared triumphantly, just missing Aphrodite altogether and tackling a nearby bush. “I watch Fennekin News every night before bed, missy, so you best stop that fibbin. Ya understand me?” Berny hissed in warning, raising his pitchfork in the air. He swung it down and struck it into the ground as his blood boiled just below his skin. “I can’t see much of nothin’ through this fog. No way that’s a real badge. Bet you ain’t even got a highly trained team of Police Pokemon, so Wilbur’ll be more ‘en enough to stop you, lil missy!” Berny cried confidently. A deep sigh escaped from Aphrodite's mouth as she made an attempt to stop herself from becoming too annoyed by the cowboy's behavior. This was the second time she has made an attempt to show someone her official badge, only for them to not believe her. What is the point of carrying around an official badge, if no one ever believes that she is a member of the IPF? "Call Officer Jenny, huh? That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I encourage you to do it. I'll sure she will be able to confirm that I am in fact a member of the IPF," she replied back to him with a warm smile.
Aphrodite narrowed her warm amber eyes, trying her hardest to keep sight of the ferret-like Pokémon dashing through the fog. Her movements are not as graceful as they usually are, but she managed to dodge out of its way without too many issues. "Hey! I am not trying to fight you! I just want to help you solve this mystery." She called out to the stubborn cowboy. Meanwhile, Aphrodite's Pokémon are not too keen on the cowboy's Pokémon trying to attack their trainer. "Stop that or else you're going to have to deal with us!" Dior made an attempt to warn the Furret.
Unfortunately, the cowboy nor the Furret seem to want to back down and work with Aphrodite nor her Pokémon, which leaves Aphrodite with no other choice. "I was hoping that it wouldn't come down to this, but you leave me with no other choice," she sighed before signaling for Dior to step forward to battle the Furret. "Power-Up Punch!" She commanded her Pokémon. The Mawile's fist became coated in an orange aura as she rushed towards the Furret, swinging her fists in a powerful manner.

The old man huffed back. "Once I defeat you I'll go call Officer Jenny. I don't need no none of these Pocket Phone you youngin's have. I don't need the Pokemon League to track me!" He slammed his pitchfork as he was speaking. "I don't need your help! You're already trying to impersonate an officer to get rid of evidence aren't you!" He was relentlessly stubborn and unyielding. "Don't think you're slick! I'm keeping an eye on you!""I wasn't going to let you go whether or not you send out a Pokemon. Hmm, look at that Mawile, I bet it can't even chew carrot sticks! Wilbur, use Natural Gift!" He spoke and yapped, disregarding Aphrodite's kind words. The Furret moved first, channeling the berry it was holding onto into strange power. Then, the normal type unleashed a ring of fire toward the steel type, making her cry in pain. Instead of biting though, the Mawile ran up close and punched the Furret with her small hands, and she felt empowered by the punch hitting the opponent. "Scamper, you deformed mitt! Wilbur use Fury Swipes!" The mammal turned around and revealed its claws at the cave-dweller, and then swiped at the opponent like a salesman swiping credit cards on a Sunday night with his family. Thankfully, the claws were ineffective against the Mawile's tough hides, and the duo type returned with another Power-Up Punch, boosted with confidence and enjoyment of this battle. "Pocket Phones? Pokémon League tracking you?" She asked out loudly, slightly confused by the older man's words. If she did not know any better, she would think that he was delusional. Yeah, maybe that is what going on with him. It would make a lot of sense, since he is so convinced that she is the one responsible for the mess around them. "I don't think that you're feeling too well, sir. After this battle, I think that we should take you to the nearest hospital to have a medical exam done on you," she added with a half-smile, genuinely concerned about his well-being.
"Don't count my Mawile out! She may be cute, but she is also more than capable of taking out any of your Pokémon." She assured her opponent. His overconfident attitude would more than likely be enough to bring him to his downfall. Aphrodite's narrow her golden eyes, watching the Furrent summon a ring of flames in the direction of her Mawile. "Wh-what was that? How is that even possible?" She questioned out loudly, raising an eyebrow at her opponent. She had no idea that the Furret would have been able to pull off a fire attack. Luckily for Dior and Aphrodite, the Furret did not earn an extra boost to its attack due to it not being a Fire-type or else even more damaged would have been dealt to Dior's body.
Dior's small, but mighty fist packed a couple of powerful punches that inflicted a great deal of damage to the Furret body. So much damage that one more attack should be enough to finish it off. Unless, it is able to pull off another fire type move then their opponent may be able to turn the battle around in their favor. Dior shook off the weak scratching attacks then ready her fists for another attack. "Power-up Punch!" Aphrodite shouted out.

"Hospital?! I don't need no d*** hospital," the rancher swore, looking red-faced and a little overwhelmed. "I'm gonna put you inna hospital for impersonatin' an officer! Aint that right, furret? We won't let this here vandal escape this time and ruin everythin' again." The furret let out a cry and started to swipe with her claws, protecting her trainer. Though, even she could tell that he was maybe not thinking clearly in the heat of battle. However, before she could knock this mawhile down, Dior lashed out and slammed a fist into her noodly body and sent her sprawling. "Furret! Can ya battle? Furret?" He sound...heartbroken. He knelt and pet her fur, only calming down when she roused and gave his hand a lick. His shoulders slumped. He looked...defeated. "Just...leave this old man's property alone." He tossed some money at Aphrodite. "There. That's whatcha want, right? An' old man's money." It might take some reassurance that she was indeed a police officer before the rancher came to his senses...

Apbrodite's warm amber eyes were completely locked in on the rancher as she watched him become upset with her previous words. Aphrodite did not mean to use her words as a threat against the rancher. She genuinely has concerns about his current's mental state. His recent outburst to help his case either. "I did not mean to offend you, sir. However, I do have some concerns regarding your well-being at the moment," she added, still keeping a watchful eye on him. This was not her first time being threatened by an opponent, and it probably will not be her last time being threatened by an opponent.
Dior delivered a final blow to her opponent, giving the punch her last little bit of energy to ensure that she knocks the ferret-like Pokémon out for the count. "I knew that I could depend on you, Dior. This battle was full of surprises, and you still managed to overcome obstacles. You have deserved a nice rest," She praised her Pokémon before returning her to her orb.
"I'm not here to take any property, and I could care less about taking your money. If you can recall, I didn't want to battle you in first place. Anyway, I want to help solve the mystery of this berry patch. What else do you know about this place?" She questioned. raising her eyebrow to express her curiosity.

The elderly man reached a hand up to the nape of his neck and scratched it. He never meant to be such a bother to the real police officers who worked tirelessly day in and day out serving the good people of their communities. Fennekin News swore that it was super easy to simply create duped badges that looked authentic, though. Even children were apparently doing it now! And you would lose everything precious to you including your wife and your Yamper, if you opened your door to a fake cop. His eyes fell shamefully on the blades of grass trying to tickle his feet that were securely enclosed inside of his shoes. “Miss…” Soft words graced his lips. His eyes refused to budge. He’d lost the self-respect he had in himself as a rancher and a good Samaritan by accusing a hard-working cop such as herself of being anything else. “I’m right plum sorry I accused you…” The words trickled forth, slowly etching off the tip of his tongue as his eyes shifted over to a lonesome twig in the ground half buried with a single green leaf still clinging to one of its off-shoots. “…but the news swore I’d never know if a badge was fake or not. I already lost me wife a few years ago…I ain’t too keen on loosin’ me Wilbur, ya unnastand?” He asked pitifully, slowly bringing his eyes back up to meet hers. “Iffin’s ya still don’ min’ helpin’ an ole feller out, I’d right appreciate it.” He nodded, turning on his heels ready to lead her over to some of the things that bothered him. “All these hear fields is mine. I works ‘em long an’ hard with Wilbur as my trust companion at me sides. We’s raisin’ before the suns up and sleepin’s only long after it’s done set. I admit I’m plum tired most days…but it’s no excuse for my rude behavior. I’ll work on that, as Arceus is my witness, I’ll work on that miss. I swear it to you, cross my heart an’ all.” He stopped near a wrecked supply shed. The smashed in door and the contents of which were scattered about. Several nails sprinkled throughout the grass, along with bent rakes and a shovel whose handle had been snapped in two. “See what I’s puttin’ up with? Now how’s I’m’s supposed ta get good crops for harvestin’ this year? Can ya still help me out? Find the culprit an’ brings me justice…and well, miss.’ I’s even willin’ ta give ya’s some of our finest produced berries for the trouble…well, if I do say so myself.” He added with hopeful eyes. Just a short distance from them were three distinct pathways leading in different directions Aphrodite could take along her trek through this mystery in her hunt for the culprit causing all this destruction. One veered off to the left and was laden with berries strewn about throughout the grass and even plopped in odd patches inside of wild bushes. One led straight ahead on an open dirt path, with sparsely any berries or marking to its name. The third veered to the right had a few berries leading in a strange path, as though whoever traveled it was stumbling about blindly. Three Paths lay before Aphrodite! ⇦ ⇧ ⇨ Which path will Aphrodite choose?

Aphrodite's soft, long eyelashes blink a couple of times as she watches the rancher move closer towards her. Ideally, she did not know what to expect from him due to his previous aggressive attitude. A warm and gentle smile soon curled against her lips the moment she heard the softness in his face. "It's okay. You're upset about everything that has taken place around here. That' understandable," she responded back to his apology, having no issue accepting it. "I'm sorry to hear that, mister. Trust me, I understand what it is like to lose a loved one," she added, taking a few seconds to reflect on the loss of her mother. She gave the rancher a soft smile and a low head nod, as if she is hoping that it would be enough to comfort him a bit.
"Of course! I meant every word about helping you find out who is the real culprit." She replied back to him. Aphrodite and Raina then followed behind the gentleman and his Pokémon. "Ah, I see. I can tell that you two put in a lot of hard work to care for the fields around here. I hate that something like that had to happen to them. About how long ago did this happen?" She questioned, her warm amber eyes carefully glancing over the damaged fields in hopes of finding some sort of clue. "Also, I accept your previous apology. It's good to hear that you're going to work on it. We all have something that we need to work on in life. The tough part is actually admitting it and making the decision to work on those flaws," she added with a sweet smile.
The shed was a total disaster. Aphrodite has not seen anything in this bad of shape in a while. She moved a little closer towards the damaged unit to get a better view of it, being careful not to step on a nail in the process. "Thank you for the kind gesture, but we do not work for gifts. Our reward will be finding the culprit and restoring your fields as soon as possible," she responded back to him with another smile. "Alright, Raina... Let's go take a look around this place. The culprit could have been able to get too far," she spoke out to her Brionne. The water-type nodded her head then followed after her trainer. Aphrodite made a quick halt to explain the different paths ahead of her to choose from. After studying each path for a few seconds, she eventually chose the third path that veered to the right.
Taking the third path that veers to the right!

"How long ago did it happen? Hard t' say when it hasn't been happenin' as of late," the man muttered a little bitterly. "Seems like I wake up every day to somethin' else on my property broken. You understand why a man might get a lil frustrated, yeah? All his hard word, vandalized by some hooligans...and nothin' to be done for it." After a little poking around, Aphrodite was on her way, putting on her detective hat to do some police work! Following the path, she would spy a moderate amount of berries this direction. Some still on bushes, other crushed by the heels of whatever or whoever ventured this way. Eventually, she reached a sort of clearing and spotted a man laying in a heap in the middle of the path. He was bruised and bloody but breathing, like he had been jumped by a gang of criminals while on a hike. Near him was a sandslash that also looked badly wounded, though upon hearing Aphrodite, it lifted its head, as if to try to protect its trainer with the last of its energy. Laying nearby was an ax, blade broken, like he had swung it into something and it shattered. Aphrodite could look for more clues and avoid the man and his sandslash for now, or go try to wake him up and figure out what caused him to end up in this state!
There in an unconscious man and very wounded sandslash! What will you do?

Aphrodite felt slightly confused by the rancher's response to her previous question. He mentioned that it was hard to tell when it has not been happening lately, but then he made mention of waking up to every day and finding something else broken around the place. Perhaps, she is overthinking things a bit or maybe she is just having a difficult time understanding his words with his unique, umm... accent? "Mhm, I understand your frustrations. I wouldn't be the kindest or most welcoming if I were in your predicament too. She admitted to him as their small group continued to move further along the path
Aphrodite's warm eye orbs soon connected with two injured bodies up ahead of the path. The young lady swiftly rushed towards the trainer and his Pokémon, not even caring about staining her cute shoes again this time. Aphrodite carefully kneeled down on her knee to get a better view of the unconscious man. She took a few seconds to observe her body language for a bit. She noticed that his chest was able to move up and down, letting her know that he was still alive. She then glanced over at the injured Sandslash. "It's okay, I'm not going to harm him," she informed the Pokémon, giving it a soft smile before turning her attention back towards the human. She gently placed her dainty hand against her shoulder and attempted to wake up him by giving him a couple of shakes. "Mister, mister, are you okay?" She asked him as she continued to shake his shoulder for a little while longer.
Raina waddled over to the Sandslash, giving it a friendly smile as she approached it. It is time like this that Raina wished that she could use a healing move to restore the Pokemon's health like her dear friend, Titania could do. Unfortunately for Raina, the only form of healing that she can do involves healing herself and not others. To make matters even worst for everyone else, Aphrodite did not have Titania on her team at the moment.
After a couple of more minutes of attempting to wake up the stranger, Aphrodite would give her arm a break long enough to shift her eyes towards the broken axe. "Hmm, I wonder if this guy was chopping down trees when something or someone attacked him and his Pokémon? It could explain all of the bruises and blood painted over their bodies... He could have also broken the axe trying to defend himself from whoever the attack is..." She added, speaking out loudly to herself more than to anyone else around her. If it was a Pokémon that attacked the trainer and his Pokémon, then it must be a pretty strong one if it has the ability to break an axe... She should be on her guard at all times.
"Raina, come over here for a second. I could use your help waking this guy one." Aphrodite called out to her Pokémon. The Brionne waddled over to her trainer, clapping her flippers together rather loudly before sending forth a gentle blast of bubbles at the man's face to help wake him up. "Come on, wake up. We need to know what happened around here and who or what did this to you and your Pokemon," she spoke, reaching out to give his shoulder another gentle shove.
Interesting with the injured guy!

Ow,my head. Hello stranger thanks for picking me up. The hiker smiles before sitting up. That's gonna leave a mark. Anyways your not going to believe this but I was attacked. Y the forest I swear. One moment I am trying to cut trees. I get thirsty right, so I go and grab my flask. I take a few swigs of it set it down and grabbed my axe. I kicked my flask knocking it over but didn't think anything of it. I turn my back and that is when I heard it. I turned around to see a tree ranch coming for me. I tried to stop it with my axe but you can see how that went. The hiker shows his axe which has been broken clean in half . Just what kind of creature could have done this clearly more investigation had to be done. Listen you going out amongst the trees you be careful. I'm telling you the trees are alive .
