OOC: Let's put Abra back in the box, then add Seviper back to the team. I will also be putting the Skorupi Egg in the incubator, so I'll replace it with the level 19 Gastly. Thank you! <3
Waking up from a long night, Essence let out a loud yawn as she slipped out of bed, then immediately walked over towards the nearest bedroom window. She took her soft hands and rubbed them against her eyelids, clearly still feeling quite fatigued due to tossing and turning in the bed the majority of the night due to driving through the horrible storm that took place last night during her arrival in Violet City. A sigh sounded off her eyes as she noticed that the flooding was still in effect for the entire city. "Damnit! Does it ever stop raining here? This is annoying. I don't even feel like going out in all of this mess," she groaned, her dark brown eyes still gazing out the window. She thought about crawling back inside the bed and setting aside her gym battle for the next day instead of going out in the storm.
Essence's dark brown eyes soon shifted from the window and down towards the floor after she kept someone nudging at her leg. A half-smile curled against her lips as she leaned down to pick up the baby Nidoran (F) and cuddled her in her arms. A rare and tender moment, that a lot of others do not get to see. "You're right, Empress. It would be foolish to toss away our gym battle for today just because of some stupid storm. Besides, I'm pretty sure that Crow is already ahead of us, and we need to catch up with him," she replied back as she found herself becoming more motivated. "Alright, hot shower should do the trick," she added. She walked over to fix Empress a bowl of Pokémon food before hopping in the shower.
After her warm shower, she quickly put on some athletic wear along with a rain jacket, which should help keep her somewhat dry during her travels from the Pokémon Center to Violet City's gym. She returned Empress back to her Poke Ball, not waiting to carry her out in the storm. She then went downstairs to the center to swap up a member of her team. If she wished to win her gym battle, then she would need to reply on her heavy hitters for this one. She exited the gym, hopped on her motorcycle, and headed in the direction of the gym.
"Here's go nothing." She whispered to herself, removing her helmet and resting it on her bike as she slid off of it, then walked towards the gym's door. Her dark mocha eyes carefully glanced over the front desk area of the gym. "Well, this is an interesting set up. I guess, it makes sense for a bird lover," she added, shrugging her shoulders. She then walked over towards the receptionist. "Essence. I am here to challenge the gym leader," she informed her, not even bothering to flash the receptionist a smile, nor did she volunteer any other information. Despite Essence's unwelcoming demeanor, the receptionist remained upbeat and polite. It did not take receptionists long to confirm that Falkner was ready to face off against her in battle.
Essence withdrew Empress's Poke Ball and freed her from it. "You're not strong enough for a gym battle yet, but I want you to keep a watchful eye on the battle. You will learn a lot, okay?" Empress nodded her head, then followed her trainer inside of the battle area.
"This maybe my first gym battle in the Johto Region, but that does not mean that I am a push over. Let's see how fast we can chip those wings," she smirked, tossing a Poke Ball in the air and releasing her Cufant.

With the stormy weather and wet, dreary atmosphere, there were not many challengers coming to make their Johto League debut against Falkner. Most were content to lock themselves away in their homes to wait it out. Which left Falkner with not much to do but feed and exercise his birds in the upper levels of the Gym. The inner workings of the Gym were closer to an aviary than a proper Gym, with rooms of dedicated space solely for the birds to stretch their wings uninhibited. The receptionist would take Essence to a lift, guiding her up to the scaffoldings that ran throughout the building. A net could be seen faintly below, just in case anyone were unlucky enough to plummet. "I understand you're to be my next challenger. I'm Falkner, though you might have already known that. He eyed the small Nidoran trailing behind Essence, watching the battle as she had been asked to. Falkner crossed his arms, standing confidently. After the amount of Trainers who had come through with odd or unusual Pokemon, it was nice to see someone come in with something normal like a Nidoran. No Rolycoly or Alolan bugs to come and catch him off guard this time. "I love that confidence, but my birds won't go down so easily!"
Falkner let out a sharp whistle, and from one side of the aviary came a rather sizeable Pidgey that hovered in place before him. "I'll start off with my Pidgey," he explained, watching as Essence sent out her first Pokemon. Falkner hadn't seen one of these before, raising an eyebrow at the metallic elephant. Any hope he had about this being a 'normal' fight was quickly going out the window, he realized. "An unusual Pokemon you've got there. Not that it'll help you any."
Gym Leader Falkner wants to battle! He sends out Pidgey (Level 10)!

OOC: Still need the code for the Skorupi Egg and have it removed from P.C., so that I can add it to the incubator. Also, I had Cufant forget Growl to learn Bulldoze in this thread Thanks!
Essence raised an eyebrow, watching the blue-haired young man make his way over to the opposite side of the battlefield, then introducing himself as the Gym Leader. To be honest, she expected the Gym Leader to some old man, who decided to collect birds instead of cats to stop himself from feeling too lonely. "My name is Essence and I look forward to winning your badge on this stormy day," she introduced herself with a small smirk curled around her lips. A frown soon appeared over her face after noticing that Falkner sent out a Pidgey as his first Pokémon. "A Pidgey, huh? Can't say that I was expecting a Gym Leader to use a Pidgey." She admitted it with a soft chuckle. The tiny bird Pokémon is nothing special, in her opinion. Her and her Pokémon have faced many Pidgey's along the way due to the majority of the younger and less experienced trainer using them on their teams. Why would a Gym Leader use such a basic Pokémon in battle? She wondered to herself. Oh, well. She is sure that Falkner will probably have at least one trick up his sleeve. Perhaps, the trick is to catch his opponents off-guard by using a less threatening Pokémon against them, which leads his opponents to become overly confident. "Cufant is a rare one. It's quite powerful, too." She spoke out with a proud smile spread across her lips. Zeke raised his powerful trunk and let out a loud trumpeting noise. It is quite clear that Zeke is ready to knock this Pidgey's brain out of its body, just like he did with that annoying Taillow. "It's time to rock and roll, Zeke! Rollout!" Essence called out to her Pokémon. Despite the Pidgey appearing to be slightly weaker than her Cufant, Essence is doubtful that her Pokémon will be able to outspeed it. She also knew that Zeke's first Rollout would not be the strongest, but she needed him to build up enough strength to take out his ace in one hit.

At the mention of the weather a little smile played in the corner of Falkner's mouth, "It's pretty exciting, isn't it?" he said, "although most of the town can't wait to see the sun and find it rather dreadful by now." He chuckled, "but I won't delay our battle with my small talk, let's get started."The gym leader tilted his head a bit when Essence commented in Pidgey, "Why not? They are a pokemon with great potential, especially in the hands of someone who knows how to work with them." He narrowed his eyes at the cufant, "where is your cufant from?" He asked casually, "I haven't seen a pokemon like it before."He had a very hard time guessing what typing Zeke had as well, he didn't really look like an electric type which was the most common typing for people to bring for this match. Colorwise Falkner would guess that Zeke would have been a ground type, but that wouldn't make much sense, unless he also knew some rock moves. Falkner narrowed his eyes when a familiar move was called out, it certainly wasn't the first time he had discovered that. "So that's your strategy, let's see if it works out," Falkner said calmly and rolled his shoulders. The battle was on. "Pidgey, you know what to do!" He called out and his little bird flapped forward to meet Zeke, who had jumped forward and was now rolling towards it. Zeke was actually the fastest of the two and he bulldozed towards the bird who looked so weak and frail compared to the sturdy cufant. Just before the two crashed together, the little bird stretched its small feet forward as if it was going to try grab the cufant, but then it moved them like drumsticks and ran over the rolling cufant without taking any damage. Cufant uncurled and was sliding over the ground while looking around for his opponent, what had just happened? Pidgey dived after him and scratched up som dust with it's claws, then it spun around and with a flap of its wing it sent it all straight in his face. "It's not the first time we have had to deal with Rollout," Falkner said darkly. Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Pidgey LV 10 HP 100% [31/31]

Essence shook her head, disagreeing with Falkner's comment about the weather. "Storms have never been my kind of weather, but I will never let it stop me from completing a task," she replied back to him with a small smirk. She then nodding her head at his words about not delaying their battle with his small talk. Perhaps, her facial expressions or body language made it clear to the gym leader that she did not want to waste any time with small talk.
"Pidgey is a common Pokémon. It makes an excellent first Pokémon for beginners." She answered his question, deciding that her answer was simple enough to satisfy his curiosity. In her opinion, very few trainers would probably continue to use a Pokémon like Pidgey after collecting the first couple of badges. "Also, Johto seems to have a couple of other flying-type Pokémon like Hoothoot that I would have imagined that a flying-type gym leader would use since it is native to Johto." She added, deciding to add a little more detail to her previous answer. "Cufant is native to the Galar Region," she shared with him. She could have given him more information about her Pokémon, but she would rather not give him an edge up.
Essence hissed, watching her Cufant's first attack miss its mark. "Serious, Zeke?! We do not have time for this!" Essence called out to her Cufant. The elephant lowered his head in embarrassment after shaking off the annoying pile of sand that covered his body. Even the Nidoran (F) took it upon herself to bark out at the Cufant. "Get your head in the game, Zeke!" She shouted out to it. The Cufant shook his head in agree then lifted his head up to look eyes with his opponent.
"Let's try this again! Rollout!" Essence commanded her Pokémon.
OOC: Thank you. So far, I've only had mods/admins share the code with me after I inform them that I'm removing an egg from my party/box to place it in my incubator.

A Task? Falkner thought, perhaps this trainer didn't see this gym battle as a challenge at all. It's also not unusual to see cocky trainers thinking they got this gym planned. As much as he would like to throw a lot of surprises at his opponents, since he was the first gym for a lot of new trainers, he wasn't allowed to have too many tricks up his sleeves. "Yes, you can say that about Pidgey. They might be small, but with love and care, any trainer can unleash their huge potential." The gym leader replied back, smiling with proudness of his own Pokemon. When asked about Hoothoot, he shrugged. "If you were expecting to battle a Hoothoot, then you're out of luck! There's Pidgey all over Johto too!" He watched as the two Pokemon continued. While he wasn't an expert on Galarian Pokemon, he figured that this Cufant would be a tough one to take down with his flying Pokemon. He didn't have quite a choice but to play on the defensive instead for now. "Pidgey, use Sand Attack again!"The four legged orange Pokemon attempted another roll out again, as the Cufant became an orange blur on the ground moving rapidly. Thankfully, this time it hit the Pidgey as the feathered friend squawked loudly in pain. Then, the Pidgey returned with another kick of sand in the Cufant's face. Love and care. Essence thought to herself, listening to Falkner's words. She should be surprised to hear such a response from gym leader. Essence smirked and nodded her head at his words. She could disagree with his words, but that would make her look like a total Mudbray. The last time Essence shown true love and care towards a Pokemon was with the Absol that she encountered in the past. The Absol that look after her and protected her until Team Rocket found her. Essence cleared her throat and forced herself from focusing on those painful thoughts. This is not the time for her to become distracted by the events that she has no control over at this point.
"It's good to see that you were able to get your head back in the game, Zeke! Keep it up and don't lose focus again!" She called out to her Cufant. The steel-type nodded his head before closing his eyes to shield himself from the sand. "It seems that you have discovered that your Pokémon's moves will not be effect on my Pokémon. Even if you continue to lower my Pokémon's accuracy, what help would that be? You still would not be able to inflict any damage. Eventually, one of our attacks will land again," She stated it in a calm tone.
"Rollout!" Essence commanded Zeke. She would be lying, if she said that she is not at least a little worried about Zeke's account making contact with his opponent's body after another round of Sand Attack. Still, she has to remain somewhat hopeful. One more hit, and the two of them would be closer to their victory. He can pull it off, right?
Meanwhile, Empress's eyes stayed glued on the battle, loudly cheering for her friend from the sidelines.

It was with a bit of relief that Falkner saw Essence nod at his words, perhaps she did actually agree with him but just wasn't so good at showing that side of her? Some people had learned to bottle it all up and act all tough when around others, Falkner hoped she could show her true side and dare be vulnerable when alone with her pokemon. A look of intense concentration as Falkner watched the cufant roll forward, even faster than before. While Pidgey pretended it was nothing, it was clear to the gym leader that it wouldn't survive another hit like that. It was also clear that Pidgey wasn't going to win this round either, their goal was something else, a battle was more than just one vs one, and with using rollout it was pretty clear what Essence hoped for: swiping it all with one pokemon. It would work, if the elephant could hit its target. "Pidgey! You are doing great! Keep your head in the game and watch out!" Falkner shouted a lot of nonsense which made his bird chirp annoyed, but it narrowed its eyes when Eze came barreling at it again. It protested loudly and flapped its wings as it dodged to the side, but Eze just rolled around and began to chase it. "Time for a quick dodge! Find something to stop it!" Falkner shouted. That was an order the bird could use. As it flapped with all its might, barely keeping ahead of the bulldozing cufant right behind it. Then the bird spotted a little bump, the arena wasn't completely smooth and it lead Eze passed it in a weird angle. Suddenly the cufant found himself tumbling over the ground sideways instead of rolling forwards, and he skidded to a halt with all four legs in the air. A clawfull of dust was thrown in his face. Falkner smirked and gestured to the battlefield, "This is why we do it, what help does a powerful move do if you cannot hit your target?" He asked rhetorically and looked at her with confidence, "besides, there is more than this one battle, while it might not help me much now, it can help me later. You are not the first one bringing rock types and rock type moves to my gym. I might not be as impressive as Whitney, but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve."The gym leader studied Essence with a calm smile and put a hand in his pocket, "I do hope you have more than one tactic, otherwise you need a lot of patience, as we'll be in for a very long battle to see who can wear the other down first." He chuckled. Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Pidgey LV 10 HP 39% [12/31]

"Zeke!" Essence hissed at her Pokémon, watching the steel-type Pokémon miss his attack. The metallic elephant just needed to strike the Pidgey one more time and it would have been defeated. Alas, that did not happen and the Pidgey decided to use Sand Attack once more, which is not a shock to Essence or her Pokémon at this point. The Cufant lowered his head, completely discouraged by his failed attack. He knew that he would have to deal with his trainer and her rage later on, and there was nothing else that he would be able to do about it at this point.
"Ehh. I suppose it is not completely you, Zeke. Rollout does not have the best accuracy to start off with, and the Sand Attack did not make it any easier for you. Still, you managed to inflict some damage on your opponent,"" She sighed. tucking a piece of her milk chocolate-hued hair behind her ear. The Cufant immediately raised his head and walked over towards his trainer with a soft smile curled against its mouth. He could not believe that his trainer did not scold him anymore. In fact, she seems to even understand that it is not his own fault. Essence nodded her head at Zeke before returning his back to his red and white orb.
"Do not get the wrong idea, Falkner. My Cufant would have been able to take out your Pidgey, eventually without your Pidgey dealing any damage to it. However, I've decided to give you even more of a challenge. Let's just say that this was our little warm up," She stated with a smile, summoning her Gastly out to the field from her Great Ball. Falkner's Sand Attack won't be effective against her ghost. "Wednesday use Acid Spray!" The Gastly let out a eerie laugh before spitting out a large glob of purple acid towards her opponent.

Falkner raised an eyebrow curiously as Essence recalled her Pokémon and released a small ball of toxic gas. The gaseous ghost wasn't unknown to Falkner but it definitely changed the game, considering it rendered most of Pidgey's moves useless. Bring ghost was a strong barrier to Pidgey's normal moves. "That is definitely a worthy contender." Falkner hummed and scratched the bottom of his chin thoughtfully. Gust was also a worthwhile attack, though it was precisely Gastly's dual typing of Poison that made Falkner cautious. "Try to blind Gastly so that it can't hit us, either!" Falkner snapped one finger and commanded, causing Pidgey to Screech loudly and hurry into action. It swooped down near the gym's floor and used it's wings to gather up bits of sand and debris into a decently sized pile. Once the feathered avian was satisfied with its work, it used those same strong wings to send a gust of wind to spray the sandy mixture into Gastly's floating eyes. Wednesday would blink profusely and cry loudly from the sands as they dug into her eyes. "Interesting that Sand Attack still hits a Pokemon who levitates, isn't it? As a Ground Type move, most underestimate it's reach." Falkner commented with a smile. That wouldn't be enough to save Pidgey, sadly. "Now use Gust!" Though Falkner tried his best to quickly instruct Pidgey on its next attack, it wouldn't save him. When Wednesday began belching out a stream of noxious acid everywhere, the feathered avian flapped it's wings as hard and fast as it could. It dodged and swerved in erratic patterns throughout the gym, only to fly headfirst into Gastly's attac, and fall out of the air collapsing onto the ground in a fainted heap. "You did good, Pidgey. You deserve a rest. It's your turn to show our opponent what we're made of, Pidgetto!" Falkner called out his large, colorful bird of prey. "Ah, it seems that you may be familiar with Gastly, huh? I shouldn't be too surprised I suppose. You are a Gym Leader after all,"" Essence spoke with a smirk. Her chocolate brown eyes watching her floating orb of poisonous gas sway from side to side on the battlefield, keeping a watchful eye on her opponent until her trainer gave her an order. "I'm curious to see what kind of plan you will come up with to counter my Gastly,' she told him, a cunning smirk still spreading across her lips.
Essence frowns slightly at Falkner's command. Didn't he know that ground type moves wouldn't work on Pokémon with the ability Levitate? She thought to herself. "Interesting move choice," she tells him, still slightly confused by his game plan. "W-what is going on?" Essence asked Falkner, watching her Pokémon struggle with the gusty wind full of sand. There is no way that, that attack should have been effective against Wednesday. She immediately clenched her hands into fists after Falkner explained to her that Sand Attack is still effective against opponents with the Levitate ability. "Ha! I never knew that. That was a clever move after all, I'll give that to you," she responded, slightly impressed by his tactics. Now, she will have to think of another plan to take out his Pokémon. Eventually, Wednesday was able to shake off the rest of the sand before firing off her attack, striking the avian trickster.
"You did well, Wednesday. However, do not let your guard down just yet. He has another Pokémon to send out," She told her Pokémon. The baby Nidoran (F) standing beside her, jumping up and down out of the excitement of the previous battle. Wednesday chuckled at the other poison's type's antics before shifting er attention back towards the battlefield, just in time to lay eyes on her next opponent. A bigger and potentially stronger bird than the first one. "Another Pokémon native to the Kanto reason," she mumbled underneath her breath. She never understood why some trainers preferred using base level Pokémon along with their evolutions on the same time. Wednesday starts at her Pokémon, assessing its power level. In the meanwhile, her eyes and the rest of her body began to glow a dark blue hue. "I see... It looks like you're learning a new move, and it is just in time if I do say so myself," Essence smirked, nodding her head in approval. "This move doesn't care if our accuracy has been lowered or not. Curse!" She commanded her Pokemon. The Gastly immediately went into chanting and casting a curse on her opponent as her body continued to glow with a dark, eerie blue hue.
Wednesday forgets Mean Look and learns Curse.
Empress forgets Poison Sting and learns Scratch.

Falkner was well accustomed to the ghostly apparitions that were rumored to haunt specific dwellings and nearby forests within the Johto region. Many listened to the tails with fright as young children, and smart kids would heed the words of their parents and avoid heavily wooded areas at night. “Morty is friends with some spirits of his own.” The blue-haired Gym Leader explained with a smile in answer of Essence statement. “As well, there have been rumors of our local Bell Tower being haunted, but they’ve largely been unfounded.” “Pidgeotto use Gastly’s lowered accuracy to your advantage! While you can, use Gust!” Falkner shouted, giving his Pokemon a direct command. The large bird of prey gave a sharp trill before soaring high into the air near the ceilings above. Essence’s Wednesday had no problem keeping up with the wild avian, easily fading in an out of existence as it chased after Pidgeotto with ease. A large nail too big to make any logical sense formed in midair near Gastly as she re-animated herself. She impaled herself with the floating nail, unleashing a horrific, gut-wrenching scream and inflicting her opponent with a terrible curse. Pidgeotto staggered on his wingtips, teetering in the air. He shook his head, trying hard to focus through the pain that seeped into every fiber of his being. Something strange overcame him, even if he couldn’t understand what it was or how it happened. “That’s….not good.” Falkner mumbled underneath his breath. “Fight the affliction, Pidgeotto! With all that you have!” He shouted to his Pokemon, trying to encourage Pidgeotto in the heat of the battle. Pidgeotto flapped his wings with all of his might, creating a powerful whirling wind that ripped and tore at the apparitions ethereal form relentlessly, causing Wednesday’s screams to turn into harsh shrieks. Essence has not heard of this Morty person, but she used context clues to figure out that Morty must be a Ghost-type Pokémon Gym leader, who she will more than likely have to challenge at some point. However, that is not anything that she needs to worry about at this time. Right now, she needs to focus on clipping Falkner's bird's wings. "Ah. I assume that you must be referring to the swaying tower that I noticed on the way here," she added, reimaging in the sacred tower that she took sight of not too far away from the Gym.
"It's good to see that you've finally decided to take the offensive side. I was a little worried that you Pokémon only knew how to defend without actually attacking their opponents," she stated with a small smirk formed across er lips. She placed her left elbow in front of her face to prevent the powerful gust of wind from blowing off her sunglasses. Meanwhile, Empress took shelter behind her trainer's legs, preferring not to be caught in the powerful gust of winds.
"As expected, this bird is a lot stronger than your previous one. Still, will it be strong enough to take down all of my Pokémon before it takes a fall to the curse cast over it?" She questioned, a cunning smirk following behind her words. She does not expect Wednesday too last too much longer, if their opponent manages to strike another hit on her. Either way, the Pidgeotto will not be able to hang on for too much longer thanks to the effect of the curse.
