Two Birds, One Stone (Dying Wish)

Food? Check. Water bottle? Taken from José when he fetched it for him. First aid kit? Packed with the essentials. Mateo sighed as he looked at the contents of his bag. He's just about ready he thinks. Zipping it up to wear on his back, he took his first steps towards Route 29.

Only to stop when he saw a rather frail boy.

It gave him pause, unable to help but find the sight familiar. He walked towards the child. "Hey buddy, name's Mateo. What's up?"

Upon hearing his tale, the smile on the older boy's face shrunk, just a tad. It was as he thought. The child was putting on a brave face but Mateo could tell. Just like the first time. He took a deep breath and sighed. "That's an awesome dream Kent. And the little guys with you are really cute."

Mateo's grin returned, nodding. "I'll help you get there for sure. It's a good thing I stopped by, I was aiming to visit every place in Johto so I can knock this out too. Two birds, one stone." Holding his hand out, he clutched the pokeball once the child put it in his hand. "You can count on me."

Kent was waiting at the edge of the route and looked dreamingly out in the wild. Oh how he wanted to run out there like all his friends and play and have awesome adventures, but he knew he couldn't. He couldn't even run without feeling really bad, and he hated it! His parents did all they could to give him as normal life as possible, and it was actually them who had convinced him to leave his room and get outside to get some sun, as long as he stayed within the borders of the town, he was free to roam. His father had talked an annoyingly lot about all the patterns vivillons could get this morning, which had made Kent stomp out frustrated.

The boy heard someone approaching and he looked over his shoulder, and sent the trainer a weak smile. A pang of jelousy flashed in his eyes before he managed to hide. "Hi, name is Kent, and not much, just wishing I too could travel," he said bitterly. Kent grimaced when Mateo's face fell, "stop it," he mumbled sulkingly, he did not want any more pity today.
"If I could travel I would see the whole region and I'd visit the others too! And I challenge all the gyms and beat them all!," Kent said loudly and lightened up at the thought, "I'd also catch more of scatterbugs and evolve them, since my Dad keeps talking about how awesome their colors are," he said softly and smiled sadly down to the black bug at his side.
"Yeah, but it will never happen and I won't be able to show Dad," he said bitterly and threw out his hands frustrated, "I don't know anyone who travels that much," he mumbled and then frowned, he glanced at Mateo and you could hear the gears grind in his head.
"You... are... traveling... right?" He said slowly with narrowed eyes and slowly his face lightened up. "You are a trainer! Right?! And you are going to travel, RIGHT?! You.. you could travel and find them all for us! RIGHT?! And.. and.. and then come back and show us!" He rambled excitedly but then stopped dead in his tracks and looked worried at Mateo, "do.. do you want to help me? I.. I'll give you something in return!" He promised although he had no clue what that should be at the moment, he would have to get his hands on some awesome items!
"And take Juno too! Then you can start with one to evolve!" He gestured down to the scatterbug at his side, and then chuckled sheepishly, "you need more than her of course."

"Thank you so much Mateo! This is awesome!" He swayed a bit and grabbed hold of the tree beside him, but he was still beaming, "I can't wait!"
