Toby sighed as he took a mint out of one of the many pockets on his trench coat. Where he kept that stuff, not even he knew, but he always had mints. They helped him focus. "Alright, you read to go, Turt?" He asked his companion Squirtle. Said turtle was hiding behind his legs. It hadn't even been an hour since he had received the shy Pokemon, and yet the two were (proverbial) birds of a feather.
"Help... don't wanna leave..." Turt Complained in his own language, but Toby got the gist. Giving Turt some headscritches, he boldly advanced onto route 29. "If I want a good team, I need it to be well balanced. So... Here's hoping for a bird!" Toby proclaimed as he walked into the tall grass, crouching to avoid detection.

The day was bathed in beauty, the grass swaying gently to its own melody in the breeze. It was the perfect moment for countless first-time trainers to embark on their journeys. In the distance, as far as the eye could see, trainers of all ages were out with their Pokémon, forming bonds with their starters and newly captured creatures. Toby, now among them, had the privilege of joining this exclusive club with his timid and young Squirtle. It was a moment ripe with the promise of experiencing countless firsts. Little did Toby know, this first experience was going to be quite memorable. Unbeknownst to them and mistaking them for rocks, a family of Sentrets was crossing the route, led by a large Furret. The Furret hopped onto Squirtle's shell, then onto Toby's back, before hopping off and continuing on its way as if nothing had happened. The rest of the family followed suit - larger Sentrets first, followed by smaller ones. At least five pairs of tiny feet trotted all over Toby and Squirtle, blissfully unaware of their presence. Bringing up the rear was the smallest Sentret. Its first leap was already unsteady, causing it to land on Toby with a clumsy thud, spinning out and landing on its back. None of its kin noticed the mishap, promptly leaving it behind as they vanished into the woods. As it attempted to scramble to its feet and catch up, the small Sentret looked up and realized that the "rock" was actually a human! Startled by this revelation, it quickly jumped back onto its feet and stood on its tail, a defensive mechanism to appear larger than it truly was, emitting a high-pitched cry in alarm. " Stay back! "A Sentret? Better than nothing..." Toby murmured to himself, the trench coat and the shell having blocked the feeling of the Pokemon jumping on them. The boy smirked. "It'll be a good experience, at least. Ready?""U-uh, maybe?" Turt, still shocked, said. Toby pointed his finger, and yelled out a simple "Turt, Water Gun, Pronto!" The Squirtle nodded, opening his mouth and firing the beam of water.

The small meerkat shivered. It’s small beady black eyes stared at the tiny blue turtle with its thick brown shell encasing most of its body and slowly stepped back. The troupe that had promptly left it behind taught Sentret in the first moments of its life that fight or flight was all that they had. If they couldn’t immediately vanish into the bushes nearby in a hurry to save themselves, then they needed to quickly attack their opponent with enough force to stun them until they could safely make their escape. Unfortunately, Turt and his trainer were not going to simply ‘stay back’, as was previously offered. Large brown rabbit ears shot up in alarm as the wild meerkat spun on the top of its fluffy striped tail. “It’s your last offer!” A soft hiss escaped the wild Pokemon’s lips. It plopped back down on all fours and bristled its fur as it widened its stance, bracing itself for anything and everything at once. “I won’t go easy on you. I was raised by Master Furret and know how to handle myself!” It’s words stammered worse than a compact disc stuck skipping on the same musical lines. Turt shot off the ground. Immediately, Sentret fled as the small blue testudine rushed through the gently swaying green grasses in hot pursuit. They danced in an odd melody through the open route. The Sentret jumped on top of a log as Turt dived inside of it and twisted its head to peer down inside from the other opening, just as Turt chased after. When Turt managed to climb up after the Sentret, the wild meerkat plopped off with ease and darted around the base of a large oak tree. Here, though, Turt managed to catch his opponent head on,a slamming into Sentret with his skull as the wild creature relentlessly scratched his arms and neck. “Why won’t you just run away and leave me be! I offered you an out?!” The scared little Pokemon screamed. Wild Encounter

"Turt, make sure not to hurt them too much, Bene?" Toby, despite not knowing what the pokemon was saying, knew it was scared- after all, he would recognize that panic anywhere. "I promise we'll win and help you! Turt, Tackle, veloce per favore!"
Turt quickly charged at the Sentret, hoping to hit head on and quickly end the fight.

Even though Toby didn't seem like to think much of the normal type he had encountered, and the sentret clearly didn't think high of itself either, despite it pretending to, the trainer had found a surprisingly good challenge as his first encounter. The two battling pokemon were surprisingly equal, which could be a great benefit if Toby decided to catch it, then it would need less training than if he had found a newly hatched wurmple. On the other hand, it would mean this first battle would be not as easily won. The sentret swished its tail back and forth nervously and glanced around for its family who was long gone, it would have a chance to catch up, but its plan of doing a quick surprise attack and then run off had failed. Toby's reassuring words did not get through to it, especially not when the next words was saying the direct opposite by ordering an attack on it. It squeaked fearfully and raised itself high on its tail to try intimidate the charging turtle, it didn't work and it got knocked down. It let itself fall backwards and rolled up tightly several meters before it lay still, a lone eye peeking out through the fur on its tail. If it lay completely still, then they wouldn't notice it and move on, right? Wild Encounter

With the normal type laying still on the ground Turt couldn't miss it. Normally the defensive maneuver of the sentret curling up would make physical attacks like Tackle work worse (so another tactic could probably be a good idea), but sometimes things just worked out for you. Turt could really pick up some speed when he didn't have to worry about his opponent jumping out of the way, and the sound of his tackle rung through the area as the two bodies collided. The sentret was sent tumbling and flailing over the ground as it tried to stop its uncontrolling rolling, as soon as it had all fours on the ground it leaped forward to scratch Turt a few times and then dart out of reach of him again. Something rustled in the grass and a pink head poked out and looked around, it then stumbled out of the patch of grass and turned out to be a pink and black bear-like pokemon, with white markings. It looked miserable, dirty and unkept, and it had a bright green collar around its neck, it lifted its paw with a disgusted look and tried to shake it clean. It clearly didn't belong out here, and didn't look like it knew how to survive in the wild, but what was it doing here? Had it just gotten lost? Did it have a trainer who might be in trouble somewhere? Had it been dumped by some heartless human? Stolen but managed to get away and now lost its way? What a mystery! Wild Encounter

"Yes! That was perfect, Turt! We just gotta- wait, hold up." Blinking at the Stufful, he shouted out "Turt! Use Water Gun! I'll protect the Stufful!" as he dashed towards it. Turt nodded, darting towards the Sentret as he opened his mouth and sprayed the water blast at it. Meanwhile, Toby scooped up the Stufful, sitting down with it.

The Squirtle shot another water at the Sentret, which made the normal type yelped once again as it tried to fold its ears and lifted its hands to block off the water gun. Although that didn't do much to prevent the effect of the water gun soaking its furs. The normal type squeaked tauntingly, "Is that all you got? You should have run away when I gave you the chance earlier!"Then, the Sentret got back into its feet and dashed forward and slammed into the Squirtle. Both Pokemon were now panting, as they were on their last legs. This battle should end soon, if no one does any funny business. The Stufful began crying as it was picked up by the human. It was lost in this wilderness with aggressive Spearow, territorial Sentret, and nasty spitting Wurmple. It just wanted its mama bewear back. Comforted by the human, the Stufful placed its paws on Toby, gripping the shirt a little bit. Hopefully, its mama bewear would come find it from its cry. Wild Encounter

"Alright, il momento è adesso! Turt, Tackle!" Toby yells out, placing the Stufful down and doing an exaggerated flourish. "G-got I-it!" Turt yells as he dashes towards the Sentret, Head aimed at the central body.

A loud thud could be heard as the Squirtle made contact with the sentret. There was a moment of silence before the small squirrel pokemon collapsed too exhausted to continue. Before Toby could do anything else among the trees was mama beware upon seeing her child she let out her own cry. It got the attention of her child and the trainer who was holding it. Upon seeing her mother the tiny bear began to wiggle out of the trainers arms. It wanted to go back to where it belongs. This would be the last time it was going to be out on its own. This was made certain as the mama beware picked up the cub by the scruff of the neck and took it away. Now that the young cub has been returned Toby now faced a decision what to do next? Wild Encounter
