appearance: sloane is a young woman with a rather girlish appearance -- something she is a bit self conscious of. she is particularly short, standing at a measly five feet, though she sports a fairly average build, if not a little stocky and finely muscled from her work on her family's ranch. she has dark brown hair that she wears long and straight, often cut by her own hand and pulled up in low-hanging pigtails. her skin is a medium brown color and covered in an assortment of freckles and moles, especially on her cheeks. she has striking eyes of a reddish-brown hue, and thick, dark eyebrows. as for her clothing, she doesn't dress to impress. she often wears plain shirts and shorts that make it easy to move around and combat the heat, and often sports a western-style hat. she wears hefty leather work boots that are visibly quite worn, but she seems to hold far too much sentimental value for them to replace them yet. she is almost never seen without a bandana, which she wears around her neck and occasionally on her arm. sloane is rather reckless, leading her to carry a variety of scars and scrapes, and she is more often than not covered in a few bandages. when out and about, she carries a comically bulky khaki backpack, filled with essentials for both herself and any pokemon she happens to find. she carries her poke balls on a belt around her waist, allowing for easy throwing. overall, she looks to be your everyday average ranch hand, even if she's not quite fitting to that role any longer.
personality: an exuberant and energetic presence, sloane is nothing short of a ball of positivity. with a bright and toothy smile and a loud, hearty voice, her attitude is rather contagious -- or perhaps grating, depending on the kind of person you are. she's a girl to always go the extra mile to help a stranger or a pokemon in need and not ever expect a thing in return. she tries her best to see the good in every person -- which could land her into trouble. due to her rather sheltered upbringing, she carries a child-like naivety with her, not fully realizing the dangers of the world outside her close-knit hometown. due to this, she may be a bit susceptible to anxiety or depression on her journey, or perhaps commonly falling victim to traps others would easily see coming. however, despite any ailments she may carry, sloane is not a person to wear negativity visibly on her face, and often carries the weight on her shoulders until she breaks. she alone made the decision to venture out, however, and she's willing to face whatever is thrown her way. she has the heart of an adventurer, wanting to explore the far corners of the world with her pokemon. though, her tendency to leap before she thinks may require a few lessons nailed into her head over the course of her journey, either by other trainers or her own team of pokemon. despite her outgoing demeanor, sloane actually finds it easier to bond with pokemon than people, and prefers to go about her journey alone. even so, she doesn't mind lending a hand to whoever needs one...even the unsavory ones.
history: sloane is of mixed heritage, with a mother from alola and a father from galar. her name is very galarian, thanks to her father. before her birth, her parents started a small ranch near paniola town, where they settled down to breed a working line of lillipups, as stoutlands were commonly used as mounts in alola. sloane was taking care of the lillipups from a young age, and absolutely loved it. she formed strong bonds with the little pokemon, and was often devastated when they were eventually adopted out. she later learned to train them as mounts prior to their evolutions. though these pokemon were not bred for battle, sloane got ideas from watching pokemon battles on television, and would teach the lillipups basic battle moves. her parents greatly disliked this, and forbid her from doing this further. sloane wished to start a journey as a pokemon trainer, but her job on the ranch was far too demanding, and she grew up raising pokemon rather than adventuring with them. by the time she was 18, she made the rough decision to depart from her parents' ranch and start her own journey. though her parents were initially disapproving, they eventually came to support her when they realized just how much it meant to their daughter. they wanted her to take a lillipup with her, but sloane decided she wanted to start fresh, opting for a proper new trainer experience with a proper starter pokemon. however, she wasn't going to do it here. sloane wanted to get out in the world, beyond the islands of alola! it was this wish that brought her to johto, where she would start her pokemon journey. perhaps she was starting a little later than most trainers, but she didn't mind in the slightest. she still has plenty of time, and is going to make the most of it.
goals: sloane's main goal is to get out and see the many wonders of the world. she never really left her home town growing up, and her itch to get out there and go has become unbearable! perhaps she will uncover new goals as her journey writes itself...
other info: she has a soft spot for the lillipup line, but she doesn't have any particular type preference...not yet, anyway. she's fond of canine pokemon, and has a bit of a fear of electric types.
